We went for a Father’s Day meal. I dont think we will eat there again. Really impressive pub and in a place we love, but bad experience and not necessary. I sent back the risotto because it didn’t contain the ingredients advertised and literally tasted like an old drain. (menu says broad beans but they were Edamame beans, then they were cubes of cheese on top that tasted really nasty. I was told this was vegan feta but tasted more like really terrible goats cheese to me). The alternative risotto was brought back out by someone more senior who seemed quite cross as she served me. The original waitress came back to say admittedly the risotto on the menu did not at all match the risotto I was served and that they would be changing the menu accordingly. All was fine. Then we ordered the summer fruit pudding among many other puddings for the table. The waitress had very kindly helped us select things we would be able to eat as one of the children had wobbly teeth and needed something soft. One bite and I had to spit it out because the fruit in the centre had started fermenting (effervescent ‘off’ flavour completely inedible). I sent it back and we ordered ice cream instead. Once again the senior lady came out and this time argued with me telling me that there was nothing wrong with the pudding. It had been made fresh that day, the chef had tasted it and it wasn’t off. I explained that I could not accept this explanation. The fruit may have fermented within a few hours and this was a risk with summer fruit pudding. It would also have been foolish of us to eat it an risk getting sick. I wonder what she hoped to achieve by this display of inhospitality? Does making sure your guests know you think their opinion is incorrect add to the value of your business or the happiness of your staff? Of course the chef would tell the front of house there was nothing wrong with the dish. I doubt they tasted it as i had spat back onto the plate. My mother sniffed the pudding and recoiled at the smell of fermenting fruit. I was pleased they didn't ask us to pay for the pudding but the staff ego trip has cost them a poor review and return custom. Manners cost nothing and making otherwise well behaved guests feel valued and respected counts for everything in the front of house business.

Lovely pub. Food and service were excellent.

I had lunch here for the first time and really liked the place. It starts with getting there, you feel you are deep in the countryside while you are actually in London. Parking is easy and the gastropub has good parking and a nice outdoor seating area. . We were seated fast and without fuss and the place smells pleasant. The menu was more interesting than some other gastropubs I felt. I had the chicken liver for starters which was excellent. Main was a Caesars Salad with chicken which was good. Pricing was adequate considering the quality and location. All in all a good experience and I will be back.

Since the new manager Jader has arrived this place has gone downhill rapidly. The food is inedible, the service on the whole is appalling - clearly none of the staff have any customer service training. Jader possesses no people skills whatsoever and should not be public facing - he certainly does not set a good example to his staff - who on earth decided he was the best person for the role following Alesha’s departure? This pub used to be great and reliable - now it’s a place to avoid. I hope Brunning & Price do something to shake this place up because sadly at the moment the only thing going for it is the lovely setting and a pub cannot survive on that alone.

Very busy - overall a good experience.

I am visiting from America and my wife's cousins have been taking us to various pubs and this is my favorite. It has a beautiful outdoor area that is perfect for chilling especially for family's. The building itself is also absolutely gorgeous. I highly recommend this place.

A lovely place to enjoy a meal with friends, staff very friendly and busy. Unfortunately staff had no structure when it came to dealing with orders and serving. Bit disappointed on that perhaps it was a hectic day all around. Food was good 👍

The place is really lovely on a sunny Sunday! It was a busy day so the service was a bit messy, but the real disappointment was the food, unfortunately really nothing special as it was really bland and the flatbread looked like it came from Asda :(

Called in for a drink, they have spent a lot on the gardens very nice to sit in the sun and sip a pint.

great ambience, atmosphere.. outdoor patio is nice on sunny days.. you have to go and order at the bar and the food is served to your table.. great service.. loved the desserts the mains we had were Ok.. not many vegetarian options.. there is parking in the back

My fav spot! Food, service, vibe! When weather is nice the garden is a an hidden gem and when it rains the rooms inside are warm and cosy. You can’t go wrong! Just love this place xxx

We have been going to this pub regularly for quite some time. Sadly over time the service has become extremely poor. Each time we go, the food order is wrong, we wait an extraordinary amount of time or food is cold. Nothing is ever rectified or improved. Very sad.

Perfect experience. Roast on a sunny May Sunday and it was sublime. Good portion size, fair price and quick service. Only thing I’d say is they need to put reserved signs on the tables, the amount of times their staff needed to usher people away from booked tables was just a burden for them on a very busy day.

Great setting but drinks expensive!

I walked up with my son from Wimbledon. Ordered him ice-cream which was served half-melted and no cutlery. I politely asked the waiter for a spoon and was told to go inside to get one 🤯 There’s a lot of belligerent men here, who the staff seem to pander to. Just expect to be ignored at the bar and under appreciated if you visit :(

Great local pub with a great ambiance. Had dinner with friends on Friday night which was extremely busy as you would expect and a special mention to Jennifer who was our waitress serving us with a smile and enthusiasm that made our night that much better. Overall a lovely evening and highly recommend a visit especially on a sunny day for a beer in the garden.

A gem of a pub on the heath. Food and drinks are waaay above average. Perfect for summer evenings because of the beer garden and winter ones too!

Good food reasonably priced. Kind, attentive staff. Very busy so book a table. Parking limited at the pub (my daughter and I both have mobility difficulties), but there seems to be plenty in the streets a short distance away. Quite rural for walkers and bikers.

My husband and I had the most delicious dinner. We had two courses each of main and dessert. The food was exceptional. We ate every morsel. Clean plates were taken back to the kitchen. I love good food and appreciate the hard work that goes into preparing and cooking food. We will be back again. We've always had great food at the Telegraph which is by far the best place to eat in Putney. The service was very good. We were well looked after by the waiter with the curly hair!

I was recommended this swanky upmarket traditional pub. I spent ages admiring all the deco and old posters!! :D The Pub has a great relaxed atmosphere and really loved the fish and chips with thin crispy batter.:) Amazing experience overall and the young staff are very attentive.. Thank you:)

What a wonderful find in Putney Heath! This beautiful and rustic gastropub offers an idyllic respite, a perfect pint and a creative menu. Lots of outdoor tables, as well. The interior feels cozy and quintessentially British!

Looked a nice pub but ruined for us by the frequent loud barking of a bulldog type dog which, on one occasion, set off other (otherwise well-behaved) dogs. The owners did nothing. I won’t be back.

Avoid this place if you are under 80 and want to have a fun time. We had an absolutely horrible evening at this pub - we were celebrating something with friends and within a few minutes of sitting down (before even having a drink) a vile, snotty old lady approached our table from the other side of the room and told us to be quiet - I have never been so shocked in my life. Unless you are looking for a pub full of nasty old people where you can sit in silence then do yourself a favour and don’t go here. How upsetting that the nasty locals go out of the way to ruin peoples evenings. Would never step foot in here again.

I have been in this pub every time I travel to London because its my friends favorite, but I have to say that you guys have a friendly staff, the food is super fresh and tasty and the cozy environment makes it so comfortable; even when the waiter got one order wrong, he came and apologise and the they served the right dish, always with a friendly smile

Beautiful pub at The Heath. The decor and atmosphere was stunning which is the highlight. The food was pretty decent as well. A bit expensive. Service staff was great but seemed like they were a bit understaffed so the food and drinks all took a bit of time to come. Overall lovely place to visit

Lovely pub. We attended a wake here and the food, drinks and service was great. The hot food from the lunch menu also looked great and the Sunday lunch menu sounds amazing.

Nice after the refurb. Good service and friendly. Just what you want from a local. Staff are attentive, no having to wait to get their attention, and well presented and friendly. A well stocked bar with a good range of beers and spirits. On the occasions I have eaten here, the food and service has always been excellent. No long waits between courses. The facilities are clean and well kept. A large garden area, which is very busy in summer. You do get the feeling that it is more like a country pub. Last summer freshly made and cooked pizzas were on offer from the garden kitchen. Also available to take away. Out of the 3 pubs on the heath area, this is by far the better of the three.

We visited on a Sunday evening for a meal and whilst I had no problems with place itself or the service the food was not good 2 had the steak burgers which were overcooked and dry, I had fish and chips which was mainly batter and my Aunt had a nut roast which she said was tasteless If I go back it will only be for a drink

Hi Have been to the Telegraph many times. Great atmosphere, cosy & relaxed. Staff have always been quite friendly The only criticism is that the food good for with being a hotter & that applies to all my visits. It’s like it’s been sitting I. The kitchen when In actual fact should be brought straight out.

A cosy and historic resturant(It is the place where first tekegraph sent to France during Napolean era.l), although we hadn't booked a table but the lovely staff found us a table. Good food and desert aldo

This is a great pub. Really nice building and surrounds. Good service too.

What a lovely place 😊. Atmosphere & service you cannot fault. Food however…. Our starters were just about warm (prawns & chilli beef), my husband’s lamb was hot however the side order of veg & my steak sandwich were cold. I sent my sandwich back only to find the meat tough. The only compensation offered were £12 off next meal vouchers 🤷‍♀️ which I gave to two ladies who were regular customers.

Wonderful place if looking for a posh pub, quite expensive for adults but kids menu avaliable too at great prices for mains and desserts. An amazing atmosphere, staff happy to help. 4/5 🤷‍♂️

I firmly believe that Jader's behaviour reflects poorly on the professionalism and inclusivity of your establishment. His lack of empathy, baseless accusations, and apparent bias are unacceptable traits for a manager. No patron should endure such treatment, especially those with disabilities or those from marginalised communities.

A pub that has heart. Just sat here on a Saturday lunchtime appreciating this place. It’s a proper pub, with nice service, good food and cares about the community it’s a part of. And it’s super dog friendly, so always a plus :-)

Sicilian fish stew; sea bream, king prawns, mussels, cod, saffron aioli, croutes (692 kcal) 22 £ What a joke, worst ever fish stew, no taste 4 prawns over cooked, 2 mussels, 1/4 of sea bream and few pieces of code warm up in tomato sauce I’m the chef too but serve this dish in the restaurant I work the owner will let me go immediately I hope it wasn’t just the chef day

A really great selection of gluten free options including pies! We had a lovely cozy nook with a fireplace which my dog happily slept beside the whole time.

Busy Saturday afternoon but they were still able to accommodate us for lunch. Always a warm friendly atmosphere with good food.

By far the best pub in the area. The food is top notch with your usual pub standbys as well as an ever changing selection of seasonal dishes. Good rotating beer selection as well with a nice selection of local and larger brands. The garden in the warmer months is the highlight with comfy chairs and picnic tables to enjoy a warm evening. Very highly recommended.

Nestled in the charming Putney Common, the setting is truly beautiful. The friendly atmosphere, coupled with approachable staff, made the overall experience good. I would definitely revisit, especially during the Christmas season. Has a very spacious feel with log fire places and dogs welcome. A very country pub feel. Food was also good/very tasty.

A bit expensive, but love the vibe

Had a Sunday roast here. It was probably the worse i have ever experienced. Dry reheated potatoes, 1 burnt carrot and cabbage. I had to ask for extra gravy to be able to eat this. I just had the chicken and left the rest. It was 6pm on a Sunday however really they should not serve something if they knew it will be of poor standard. I have eaten better at a toby carvery!

The atmosphere here is incredible! So lovely in the winter - especially with the fire and cosy decor. However, the food is very average. We ordered the Turkey roast with all of the sides, but it was extremely bland. There was absolutely no seasoning and salt at all on the food, and the gravy I think was made from a packet. My mum and I were very disappointed. For the price of the dish (£22), it was really startling to come across such bland, average food. Even the hard potatoes and overcooked vegetables were hard to eat. In all honesty, we both said it tasted like a meal you'd expect in a hospital.

We had a wonderful time on one of the coldest nights so far. The staff were so friendly. They had organised a fun little Christmas fair outside run by izzy and the pub was packed. I highly recommend this pub.

A hidden gem. Visited here after a funeral at 11.30. We were welcomed by a member of staff. Explained we just wanted to warm up. Ordered coffee and tea. To out suprise it was served with a homemade biscuit. Just so cosy sitting by the fireplace. Many people arrived after a walk for lunch. Definitely returning here again for that out of London feel

Walked up to The Telegraph on a blustery Saturday afternoon with 4 dogs and 2 humans. Lovely steak sandwich with chips. Sat outside under the covered seating area and enjoyed hot coffee and a lovely lunch. Will definitely be back!

Amazing pub and great atmosphere

This is a treasure place to visit . Surrounded by a gorgeous green scenery , they made the pub 🍻 one of a kind . The managers , the service are friendly , cheerful YET professional, they go further to assist and help you . Last November 2022 I got myself with my daughter in this magnificent place and there was an Amazing manager and personnel who actually went all their way and helped me with a very difficult situation I faced . I will go back again and again showing not only my gratitude but my preference as the place is super clean, super busy yet elegant, very high standards pub , tasty food , nice drinks 🍷 and an atmosphere that reminds you of Switzerland in winter times , not just a British Pub . A MUST VISIT to get an experience of your own. Hurray!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🙌

The telegraph looks fine, I went to have lunch after a long absence, as the last time I was there it was like a kindergarten on steroids. This time I went it was like eating lunch at Battersea dogs home, barking dogs, indulgent owners and staff that did not say or do a thing about it. If that's your thing enjoy, but it's not mine. I won't be heading back in the near future. Too many good restaurants to go to, I was told that it had changed. Not so. But like the proverbial tiger it has not changed its spot's.

Went for an al fresco meal on the last day of summer - fantastic beer garden so the place was packed. Quite a bit of confusion from staff about what food was being served and where you could sit but eventually got pizzas and beer in the garden. Lovely spot on a sunny day

A lot of panic from staff last weekend over us sitting at a table out of the rain which was reserved for an hours time! Stayed 1hr 30 & no one showed up which seems to be happening a lot with people making numerous reservations just to get in somewhere! Usual Sunday afternoon atmosphere- kids & dogs. Not a pub feel

Love the pub, good vibe, well furnished and decorated. Great selection of beers and the menu is good but service is hot and miss. Manager didn't seem to know where to seat us despite having a reservation. Didn't bring us menus or water. Had to look for a waiter to ask for service and it was still early in the evening. Food came out far too quickly, almost no break between starters and mains. Although food is tasty a little more thought and effort could go into the presentation.

Great all round, Very nice pub, well furnished and maintained, good variety of "guest beers" and lovely food choices includes indoor and outdoor dining options with full table service. A bit on the expensive side for a pub, but well above your average pub grub.

The Telegraph pub was a shutter station, which sent messages between London and Portsmouth in 1796 at the time of the Napoleeonic Wars.

This is a great pub, lots of space, beautiful bar area, decent food, lovely staff, plenty of parking. 👌
