Great atmosphere and lovely staff!!!

Dear Telegraph, my family are your regular customers and we often visit your restaurant. I noticed that you indicate the wrong name of the city “Kiev” in the menu. This is the Russian transliteration of the name of the city, which is very incorrect. This is the capital of Ukraine and the correct spelling is Kyiv. I kindly ask you to use the authentic correct name of the Ukrainian capital, and not its Russian version. I think it’s very important and it’s great, that people will know how to spell it correctly. Would be very grateful for that.

Good pub for screaming kids running feral

Lovely pub. Sunday roast is great. Solid beer selection (Leffe on tap) and attentive staff.

As a European, this pub fulfills all the criteria we have in mind when thinking about an english pub. Nice, 'cosy', relaxed and great service - and the food is good.

Nice pub on Putney Heath, great place to go in the summer when you can sit outside. We had lunch there. My husband burger and I had halibut. He thought his burger was a bit too compact. Which is what happens when you use mince with no fat! I had Halibut, which was OK, but a bit bland!

Enjoyable Sunday lunch, shame about them using Pork Scratchings instead of authentic crackling.

The food was excellent The pub warm and very friendly Adam greeted us and from that moment on we were made to be very welcome Thankyou Adam and staff A real gem this place

Weekend break in London. Went out to this pub because of the many GF recommendations. Lovely pub with a excellent Gluten Free offering. Service and food were great. Would visit again.

Best place to go for a Sunday Lunch.

New Years Day trip here was not very good. I think they were potentially understaffed and the poor staff that were on were run ragged. Food was awful, not up to their usual standard at all. For example the £11.50 prawn cocktail starter had barely any prawns, bulked out with slices of tomato and a piece of 50p cheap white Warburtons toast.

Christmas lunch at The Telegraph was just fabulous. Food great, hot and tasty. Yum yum. Our waitress Abi, was amazing. Great service, atmosphere was lovely. Never done a Christmas Day away from home before, but loved it. Would definitely recommend

Have now been here twice and can confidently say it is one of my favorite pubs. + great versatile menu from classic pub fare to lighter dishes (obsessed with the pate) +great beer and wine selection + drool worthy desserts that make it hard to skip sweets + cozy, hospitable environment with homey feel and wonderful outdoor space with heaters + SUPER dog friendly Thanks Telegraph team for always making our experience great!

A semi family friendly pub in a great location with a good drink and food selection. The staff were all great apart from one guy… he had a tattoo of and octopus on his arm. He told our 3 year old boys not to sit on the floor and play with their toy cars. He said they had to sit at the table! They weren’t running around or screaming, bizarre behaviour somewhere which encourages families. I’d encourage you to see if he’s working before booking a table.

We booked a Boxing Day meal months ago. I am registered blind. They sent two emails to confirm, I confirmed. They did not ask us to choose a menu. We have been there Boxing Day and New Yrs Eve and for Valentine’s Day . THEY CHANGED THE CRITERIA after we had booked but we never found out. When we got there we ordered the steak as we had chosen from the menu on the website. When she came to take the order she said it was for people who booked. I said we had booked and confirmed twice. The waitress who said she was one of the managers said the emails told us to order beforehand. That has never happened before. The friend I was with received the email and did not see it either. We are so disappointed as we planned our Boxing Day around this, forsaking family to be there for the meal. They had obviously overbooked and didn’t expect it to be so busy there. So that was that, we came home as we had no other choice. All the waitress said was “but we sent an email”. After spending over a thousand pounds on their menus since the pandemic, we will take our custom somewhere else who knows how to manage a pub restaurant. ITS NOT WORTH THE RISK

Really nice - ample space (early on the Friday night before Christmas) in a cavernous place, focusing strongly on food and families, but not skimping on the cask selection. Garden looked good (if it hadn't be freezing, dark, and raining).

Wonderful visit to the Telegraph. Visited as part of a group. Wait staff were very accommodating and gracious. Great food - value for money.

Love to visit this pub when seeing family in Putney

I haven’t tried the food here yet, but I saw a waiter serving a dish, and it looked absolutely delicious. This is a fantastic spot to meet up with friends for a drink or two!

Desperately need to hire more staff. Can’t cope with the bookings they make and staff just get defensive. 90 mins+ to get food. 30 mins+ to get drinks. Didn’t have any wine glasses???? Overpromise, under deliver. Go for drinks but do not eat here. P.s. we came here in the summer and it was exactly the same situation so evidently no changes have been made over the last 5-6 months so ignore any comments from management which suggest they’re making changes.

Always love coming here. Feels like a home from home.

Xmas Lunch not the best we’ve had!

We had a busy Xmas lunch here today. Our server ishane was super helpful and friendly. The roast turkey was nice and the gravy plentiful. The turbot however was tiny at maybe 100g max but (delicious) and we were offered a discount of £10 as £27 was not a reasonable price. The atmosphere was excellent!

My local pub and it's just perfect. Nestled in the heath gives it a real country feel. It's cosy in the winter, lively in the summer. The staff are brilliant, the ales are great and so is the food. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Beautiful pub, service is not bad at all but the food is expensive and god awful. I went there last week, knowing the lack of quality in the food, I thought I’d order something hard to mess up, so I went for the bangers and mash. Easy right? Just get some sausages don’t overcook them, some mash, gravy and fried onions, how hard can that be? WELL - the sausages were half card board, tiny and eww, onions somehow not cooked? And the gravy was instant and definitely not enough, mash is mash. Cost? Like £17 go there for a pint, don’t have any food. Stay away. Was too disgusted to take pictures soz.

Great atmosphere in the bar and upstairs in the seated restaurant area. Food really nice, what made our evening was our waitress Jennifer. Excellent service! We will visit again :)

I’ll preface this by saying I like this pub, I go here most Sundays for a quiet drink. Today I decided to try the food. Hhhhmmm, food and service leave something to be desired. The food was cold, I had to ask twice for water, incorrect order brought to the table which meant when the actual order turned up the rest of us had finished, mixed veg not delivered but still on the bill, staff difficult to flag down, staff didn’t ask if we’d like sauce with our food, had to ask twice for horseradish by which time I was half way through my food. Original server disappeared, more interested in checking her phone and chatting at the bar than being attentive to our table. Had to flag down other staff to get all of the things that should have been done correctly the first time. I still paid 12.5% for service. I wouldn’t mind if the service was any good. All in all it could be significantly better.

Lovely pub, very good menu, great for gluten-free and allergies.

Lovely, welcoming pub with a lovely atmosphere. We had a selection of dinners and desserts from the menu and the food was delicious. I had roast beef and it tasted home cooked. A brilliant place to eat and I will definitely be returning.

Such a wonderful atmosphere created by the locals here. It feels like you're in the countryside, away from the bustle of the high street. Great tasting pints, and friendly service. I'll be coming back here soon!

Beautiful pub and garden with a great selection of beer on tap and food. Excellent if you are gluten free - extensive gf menu and a gf IPA on tap.

AVOID THIS PUB AT ALL COSTS! We had Sunday dinner here and this pub is for "vibes"/atmospher and booze, not much else. It looks pretty and has some advertised cask ales, there's nothing else here to make the arduous journey out to The Telegraph and potentially damage your car with the numerous deep holes in their parking lot. The food is actually pretty bad, something I have rarely experienced in London. The Sunday roast beef was literally 2 thin sandwich slices with what seemed like Bisto gravy granules. The brownie with chocolate sauce and ice cream somehow tasted of metal... like a cheap corner store brownie heated up in the microwave. The service was poor to non-existent. We were seated in the empty first floor, about 20 to 30 other empty tables, and we struggled to get our server's attention. At one point, she was replacing cutlery on an empty table and ignoring us, while we were the only guests on the whole floor. Eventually, a busboy saw me and took our food order. This pub has shown up on several "Best of Putney" restaurant lists, making me doubt those publications now and gives me certainty that The Telegraph is buying good press/reviews. If you're looking for an evening out at a charming pub with good food, go look somewhere else, this isn't the place for you (or anyone really).

Really loved our experience at the Telegraph, the food was Amazing! It's such a beautiful pub inside and out. We felt very welcomed when we arrived. The Menu was great and we couldn't decide what we wanted as everything sounded so delicious. We went for a roast in the end and it really was the best Roast I had eaten in years! Really polite and attentive staff, I can't recommend the pub highly enough. We cant wait to return.

The staff here were amazing and a true asset to the business. They were very helpful, nice, kind and attentive even when busy. We had a Sunday roast, the quality was great and the portions were big. Would happily go every Sunday if we lived locally.

Steeped in history, this beautiful pub is stunning in every single way you could possibly imagine. The one thing that was upsetting was a drink bought for me, lemonade and fresh limes. in a pint glass and was charged at £6.00 As it was rather a cool night outside, it was less busy. Sadly, it was ruined by some very loud dinner guests. It was a perfect way to end a lovely day

Gorgeous pub, gorgeous Sunday roast. Great atmosphere, super friendly staff, and delicious fish and chips and vegan roast. Staff went out of their way to get us a table even though we hadn’t booked and it was busy. Favourite local pub in Putney.

Epic Sunday Roast - always my 1st choice in the area

We are regular customers and we always enjoyed the service and the food. The last few times the food was below average and came twice cold. We asked to reheated. The schnitzel was basically chicken breast in bread crumbs and the onion soup was nothing like onion soup completely different taste. The pizza was very boring and poor quality. I hope it improves as we love this place very much.

Staff were all lovely and we really enjoyed the whole atmosphere! 10/10 !

Good big Sunday lunches with great views and garden...can actually be lulled into believing you've left London for the afternoon. Huge amount of space and helpful courteous staff. Big benefit for us is to walk here, arrive with toddlers, muddy boots and paws and find we are welcome!

Love the pub, good vibe, well furnished and decorated. Great selection of beers and the menu is good but service is hit and miss. Manager didn't seem to know where to seat us despite having a reservation. Didn't bring us menus or water. Had to look for a waiter to ask for service and it was still early in the evening. Food came out far too quickly, almost no break between starters and mains. Although food is tasty a little more thought and effort could go into the presentation.

Good service and friendly. Just what you want from a local. Staff are attentive, no having to wait to get their attention, and well presented and friendly. A well stocked bar with a good range of beers and spirits. The food and service has always been excellent. No long waits between courses. The facilities are clean and well kept. A large garden area, which is very busy in summer. You do get the feeling that it is more like a country pub. Freshly made and cooked pizzas are on offer from the garden kitchen. Also available to take away. The garden area has recently been landscaped, no more muddy trails to the outside tables.

Beautiful pub that harkens back to a time long gone. Great selection of beer and wine. Food is fresh and tasty with a decent choice of vegetarian dishes. The cauliflower tandoori was great but not hot (temperature) as I would expect. Other dishes also arrived cool. Plenty of seating inside and out. Helpful staff. Very dog friendly.

Absolute gem of a pub. Such great food and vibe. The place was busy as it was sunny but the service was great. The staff were super friendly and efficient. They catered well to our little toddler and were super great with her too. The manager checked in with us and had a chat too. They really care. I wish I had room for dessert after my roast but I made my partner promise to bring me back for pudding one day

A hidden gem of a place. Beautiful pub with lots of space. Superb table service. Lovely cheerful staff. Pimèntos de padron best outside of Spain ever had. Gazpacho soup gorgeous. Lovely setting and you can watch the sunset behind the trees or people watch etc. Very popular place, so I would book.

Ok so I’m giving full marks across the board here for sound reason. Great food, staff fabulous, great location and plenty of room to accommodate 10’adults with two babies in tow. Granted it was a busy Sunday service and no , food did not come out in the style of a fast food joint why would it - food on the plates was clearly prepared to order. We live our lives in the fast lane at times. Waiting for the mains after a very speedy first course left 10 close family members times to chat and catch up and have a wonderful hour or so of random conversation. The delay was clearly down to the popularity of the Pub. Staff were gracious and without any complaint from the table recognized the delay and made a spontaneous and very welcome gesture as an apology. That to me is perfect service. Oh and for the non meat eaters out there the veg Sunday roast was the best I have had. How many times do plant based options come out bland and boring ( despite huge promises). You will not be disappointed if you choose their Sunday veg roast!

I feel I have to give feedback on a terrible dining experience here yesterday. We waited almost an hour for a main course. When prompted the staff lied it was ‘being plated up’. 20 minutes later still nothing, a further prompt and we received two plates of cold inadequate food. Supposed to be Tandoori cauliflower with onion Bhaji and sag aloo. There was no bhaji (which they did warn us about) no spinach but just some sautéed potatoes with spiced cauliflower. So a plate of cauliflower, potato and leaves. For £17. An utter rip off. The staff were dismissive and gave an unprompted discount but even then we still paid too much. I have visited several times before and had polite well trained staff and decent food. Hence another visit. This time the staff were all inexperienced, poorly trained, no empathy for providing terrible food and did not know how to deal with a complaint. Paid minimum wage for summer holiday cover? Not sure what has happened here but definitely will not be visiting again.

After a walk in Richmond Park found this lovely pub on the drive home. Gluten free fish and chips! Sat in the lovely garden, great atmosphere and great service.

Great outdoor space. Not enough staff! Food was acceptable and service was hit and miss (because of lack of staff rather than the staff themselves who I think were doing their best!). But on a temperate summer's day it is a superb space which made this 4 star rather than 3

Very pleasant visit for a birthday lunch, food was excellent as was the service, there is a good selection of real ale all well kept and reasonably priced, inside and out is well maintained and comfortable ideal for either a meal or just a quick drink, staff are always welcoming and the atmosphere is great. We frequent this place regularly. My mother is disabled and the staff make an extra effort to make her feel comfortable. We were very happy with Kyone (I hope I spelt her name correctly). The atmosphere is great and we would highly recommend

Warm atmosphere, good service and food

The food and service this time were not as good as before. Last time I gave it 5 stars and a commendation. What a pity. The Telegraph is a dog friendly and child friendly pub in the lovely setting of Putney Heath. Outside tables and car parking.

A lovely setting. Reasonable menu. Fair service levels. One must question the questionable ethics of the imposed 12.5% addition of service charge/gratuity. Businesses should pay staff adequately and gratuities should be at the discretion of the patron.

This pub is fantastic spacious and cozy, tucked away in a charming, secluded location with free parking. The food is excellent, and it's both kid and pet-friendly, making it perfect for families and friends to spend time together. The outdoor area is wonderful too.

This is a stunning pub with a beautiful beer garden to spend a warm summers evening (come on UK Summer 2024- we are ready for you!!). Staff are friendly and attentive. My only gripe is the lack of more veggie options. Only two out of a fairly otherwise large choice for meat/ fish eaters is disappointing in this day and age. When so many of us are eating less or no meat it just doesn’t reflect that sadly. But otherwise lovely pub.

This is our local. Beautifully refurbished just before the first lockdown, the new manager and his team have had a hard act to follow. But there are still great beers, plenty of nice garden seating, good food, and a friendly welcome.

Best food and drink in London - truly inspiring pizza, cracking steak and a great wine list and selection of beers to go alongside. A must visit Mecca.
