Booked it for my daughter's birthday celebration as she was having a cinderella birthday party later and we wanted to take her for afternoon tea in the Carriage as we were in London at the time. Contacted them via email (Nadia) and also Instagram. Had requested for a slice of cake and to sing a Birthday song to her and they have mentioned it was doable. They confirmed and re-confirmed even just before we were due to visit and Nadia assured they will be happy to sing Happy Birthday with a cake slice for the little one. When we arrived there, there were only two staff on the floor. Barely any service. It was rather a struggle getting any attention from staff, no song and no slice of cake. We just paid for the carriage for no reason, food was very basic. On return I emailed back to Nadia mentioning what had happened and did not even recieve a reply. Over all horrible experience and ruined my plan for my little one on the day.

Came here for a pre Christmas treat and regretted it We were seated next to a door which is used over and over again by customers of House of Fraser. This isn’t a cosy little tea room tucked at the back of a shop as it’s marketed, and we were freezing and very annoyed at the disturbance every 30 seconds The savoury food was expensive and mediocre at best A small tart and a handful of fries for £15 needed to be brilliant, and it was poor, as was the £11 jacket potato The sweets were no better. Scones were tiny and practically one bite each I don’t mind paying £30 for a sandwich, orange juice, scone and a hot chocolate if they are good But when you think you could have bought better quality food in Aldi for £3, and ate it in the warm at home, then the feeling of being ripped off is prominent in your mind…

Came to celebrate a birthday- afternoon tea. Average at best. Served a celiac friend with gluten food even tho she triple checked. Friend knew they were wrong as the staff were ignorant and clueless so EVENTUALLY got a GF afternoon tea. We paid up and left as didn’t want to get into it on the day. My friend emailed in - to basically raise awareness around food allergies and WOW!!! She’s had abuse off the marketing team, been called a liar and been blocked on all communication channels! DISGUSTING customer service for a pretty average place. Don’t waste your time or money

Visited on a Saturday afternoon, décor lovely, nice teapots etc, good value for money & normal afternoon tea was really nice....this is where it ends! One of the reasons we had chosen here was the Gluten Free menu, as we have a member of our party who is GF. The 4 normal Afternoon Tea's arrived, followed by the GF one...Being GF we always double check that is is OK to eat as it had chips on it which it didn't say on the menu - they informed us (after we checked) that it wasn't GF and they would bring another one - no apology or anything just swapped over. (you also have to pay £2 extra for a GF tea which I never understand because its a allergy that cannot be helped) We emailed them a few days later just to explain what had happened & to remind them the importance of allergies. Well the response was appalling (actually to the laughable point!) saying we were wrong and they didn't believe us and we were just trying to get a free meal - which we weren't we just wanted to email and remind the importance of allergies (image it it had been a serious nut allergy!) They even went to the point to say our complaint was FRIVOLOUS and even threatened to report us to the authorities if I share bad reviews. They have since BLOCKED us on all forms of social media, are not responding to any phone calls, emails etc & when we did send a message to another branch to try and get hold of somebody we got an angry face emoji and an instance block! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! I don't actually know how they can run a business with this sort of attitude, its so childish and extremely unprofessional. STILL there has been no apology, when at the end of the day all we wanted was that and for their staff to be reminded about allergies and the importance of them. TEA ON THE TERRACE PLEASE RESPONSE AND STOP IGNORING!

Unfortunately they like to lie to your face and make money by risking you eating something your allergic to. Very illegal of them, but if you call them out, they threaten you with the police.

Awful experience!!!!!! I ordered a gluten free afternoon tea and was surprised when I was served a Childress afternoon tea instead. The waitress put it down in front of me and I knew it didn’t look right. When I queried it they took it away and said they served me the wrong one - this is totally unacceptable. The worst thing was when the gave me the gluten free one, the manager dumped it down in front of me and walked off. No apology or anything, she couldn’t care less!!! I am trying to get hold of the place to file my complaints by funnily enough they are ignoring my emails. Despite strict allergen laws with regards to food service, the tea terrace clearly don’t care for this. If management are reading, please respond to my 3 emails, 1 website enquiry and 3 phone calls as I’d like to discuss and get my money back

I had the misfortune of visiting theTea Terrace at House of Fraser in Oxford St. on 5/12/2021. The service was nothing short of appalling and the lack of items from the menu was staggering. I ordered for my daughter (who is diabetic and therefore we must be careful what she eats) a Jacket Potato with Tuna. 10 mins later we were informed that they had run out of Potatoes. Whilst I understand that certain produce if over ordered would be wasted, potatoes last for days. So, we ordered the Hoummos and Falafel with Pickled Cucumbers and Pickle Turnips. 5 mins later we were told there were no pickled Turnips or Cucumbers. We ordered a child’s meal for our 6-year-old granddaughter, and 2 afternoon teas for myself and my wife, together with some water so my daughter could take her medication. The water finally arrived after 40 mins and then only after multiple requests. My granddaughters ice cream came without the chocolate sauce. A final issue was that a member of staff that looked like the chef (I'm assuming that by his attire) came from the door marked staff only and wandered through the Tea Room and out into the main area of House of Fraser, with no mask. So hardly left me feeling that anyone in the tearoom was too bothered about hygiene, service, or the customer. Extremely disappointing even more so with a bill of £95, which of course included a "service charge". That is a misnomer if ever there was one. Would certainly not return or recommend.

We booked this carriage as a special birthday surprise for both of our granddaughters at end of September. I have since then tried to make contact with the restaurant, House of Fraser customer services and I also tried on line too but it is impossible to contact any one. This was not a cheap surprise at all. Firstly they didn't have any selection of drinks for the children but they made sure they charged us for the tap water ! My club sandwich was full of mayonnaise and three little lumps of chicken it was so full of mayonnaise I actually left and the chips look like they had been microwaved and were disgusting covered in fat, my son in laws quiche was actually undercooked and mushy and both children were not impressed at all. It cost a lot of money to be able to sit in the carriage and then they are not cheap for the food either. Seriously should be refunded. I have had to resort to this way to get some attention and hopefully they will contact me and refund me as it was not nice for me as my grandchildren didn't enjoy their surprise and we had travelled from Lincolnshire for it !! This could be a lovely experience for little ones if the food was nicer and presented nicely too The restaurant can contact me as they did text me to remind me of my booking and I did book on line for 26th Sept 2021. Such a shame as the carriage and decorations are lovely but the food is Terrible

I booked Afternoon tea as a 10th birthday treat for my granddaughter… although our waitress was great & very apologetic …firstly NON of the deserts promised on the menu for ‘indulgent afternoon tea’ were available ! The alternative was a slice of ‘every day’ style cake. Secondly only vanilla ice cream was available .. although choc & strawberry also on the menu It seemed whatever we asked for was unavailable .. despite the fact I made my booking weeks in advance! Very disappointed .. won’t be visiting again or recommending

Stepped into this restaurant and it felt pretty pink and full of flowers large comfortable chairs a little like Allice in Wonderland - that is where the positives end. It was early lunchtime I read the menu and asked for a Welsh Rarebit, the server returned and told me they had run out of them. I looked at the menu again and chose an egg and cress sandwich at £12.95. This was served to me, I cut off a small piece and started eating it to discover here was no cress but lettuce instead, I sent this back and was told they had no cress. I decided to just have a cappuchino. This was a very disappointing experience.

We happened upon this delightful tea room whilst shopping in House of Fraser. The atmosphere and decor were wonderful. The staff were absolutely lovely and very friendly. We had a really lovely afternoon tea in beautiful surroundings. I would highly recommend the experience and would go back again. Delicious sandwiches and wonderful scones.

Visited for a surprise with my Niece. Was a warm welcome, staff were nice, tea room was empty. Tea Room is a corner Section House Of Fraser. Decor is lovley and for a childrens experience its lovley. Food is poor and cheap and definatley not worth £19 for a child afternoon tea. Menu describes it as three Brioche buns with selection of filling but what artived was cheap stale white bread filled with unappertising fillings. Especially the sausage sandwich which had more ketchup than sausages. Scones were small and the ‘Selection of three cakes’ was actually 3 button sized cakes with more icing than sponge. The presentation was good and staff were attentive, if it wasnt for being there for an 8year olds birthday treat would have left very early on. Food prices are very high which I suppose you het for london but when they ask for £25 for an adults Afternoon Tea which comes out as the same as the childs you realise how much of a rip off it is. The carriage is a nice touch but this is a huge fee justvto sit in and have lunch whereas you can sit ata table and take as many photos with the carriage as you want as it wasnt busy. Overall this place is nice but wont be going back unless they change the food and the prices too.

Menu looks great and sells you a standard. ignore the menu, expect crap for £88 you get frozen pastries x6 2x strawberry halved, 4 slices of bread thrown together and filled with random chunks of cucumber and cream cheese, egg mayo from a tub and grated salmon (cheaping out on part of a slice) I could see a pack of scones sitting on top of an oven. Tea was decent couldn't fault the boil. One of the kids had some sainsbury's basic pizza for a genourous mark up of 1200% The other a cheese and tomato sandwich and room temp chips. If you like being another mug, enjoy. When I said I'm not paying the full total the lady said it would have to come out of the staffs pocket, that left me pretty stumped.
