We had a great breakfast here. Very cheap, value for money and the service was very quick and efficient. We’ll definitely be going back.

Due to Coviviv-19 we are confined to our apaptment - NO PROBLEM - just one phone call, and yes our lunch was delivered piping hot and delicious. The whole team are a a fantastic set who are always welcoming. We have been dining there for a number of years, and that says everything.

I had a taditional English breakfast for a mere fiver. It was well presented, hot and tasted good, I wasn't all that struck on the latte I also ordered, skimmed milk or perhaps the brand of coffee? But certainly wouldn't complain about the food. My son, had an egg tea cake, please note fellow Salfordians they call bread rolls tea cakes around Darwen, without currents too! He didn't moan, so that was a good sign. Clean, pleasant and worth a visit.

Popped into the Tea Shop for a full English, had a huge breakfast, with coffee, toast and orange juice. The food came really quick, was really tasty and cooked to perfection. No grease, no burnt bits and all piping hot. The best surprise was the bill, under £8. There are very places where you can get that kind of value these days. Friendly staff serving too. I will be back when next in the town.

My new local, over the last few months, for many reasons, to mention a few- beautiful, kind and welcoming staff. serving good food for good value. What more do you want from a café? Also love it's retro feel. Best in Darwen in my humble opinion. .

We nipped in for lunch while walking through town and wow what a mistake. The atmosphere was cold, it was really quiet and we felt unwelcome. After deciding we would take food away as it was nice and sunny out, we left and sat on the outdoor table on the street to eat before moving on. That was cut short as the lady from the till had come outside to tell us to clear off, as “if the manager comes down he will ‘go mad’, when you get food to take away you have to take it away!” Although, kindly, she would “let us off this time!” We left so fast I almost left my coat! It’s clear that the management at this cafe have 0 regard for customer service, as we felt unwelcome and as paying customers, we were proven right! AVOID this caf and spend your money in one of the many other places in town that are welcoming to you.

My first visit to Darwen.I walked up to Jubilee Tower, 1200ft or 400m approx, high. It was very windy and on my return, an hour and a half later, I found the "Tea Shop" cafe.I just wanted a simple, straight forward, tasty, hot meal and that is what I got. Another bonus was the friendly staff and the immaculate condition of the cafe, including the toilet (often not the case). Thankyou.

This is a plain, unpretentious, traditional cafe. The decor is refreshingly simple and a mile away from the plethora of vintage tea rooms that seem to be sprouting up everywhere these days. Don't get me wrong - I enjoy using twee tea rooms when the mood takes me, but most of the time I prefer a good traditional British caff. The menu here is also traditional cafe fare, and in addition to the ubiquitous "all day breakfast", they have a good range of main meals and hot snacks as well sandwiches, cakes etc. Most importantly for this part of the country, they also have the regional staples of assorted pies with peas and gravy! That's what I came in for and it was excellent. Service was friendly and efficient and the prices most reasonable. I'd certainly come again.

I visited the tea room last month with my mum, husband, son and mums friend. We ordered food when we arrived. My husband and myself ordered while we waited for mum and her friend. My husbands food came but not mine. Mine turned up 20 mins later! It was very nice! Mum came and ordered drinks and a toastie! The toastie never turned up! There are plenty of staff but they were not really efficient. I visited again yesterday with my 2 friends. We had our children with is ranging from 16 months to 22 months. We were not made welcome, we were overcharged for 3 coffees (I mean how difficult can it be to do 3 coffees on a till?!!) the owner was Sat at the back of the shop with his old cronies and was watching is disapprovingly all the time. My son got up and walked up the room And the owner came to me and sAid 'we don't like children walking around the cafe, can you control your child!' How rude! We left! I have never been somewhere where no one cracks a smile! It was a room full of miserable old coffin Dodgers!

Have to say that as a Darrener I rarely frequent the cafes in the town BUT we needed a snack and to be honest the Tea Room looked the nicest of the bunch - after all we did not wish to frequent a cafe where non-smokers are treated as second class Customers! We ordered one large and three small breakfast and the quality of the food was excellent... no cheap sausages or bacon and the toast had butter on! Impressed is not the word - guess where we are going for breakfast in the morning :)
