The Taste Oriental Buffet in Lincoln

We went here on a Wednesday afternoon as we'd been travelling and needed something to fill us up. The place was nearly empty but no one noticed us when we waited by the "please wait to be seated" sign. In the end, we found outselves a table. Only then did a member of staff come over to us. No greeting, just "what do you want to drink?" We ordered and then went to get food. The stir-fried broccoli was nice, as was the egg-fried rice. The sweet & sour chicken was ok. My husband had the chow mein and felt unwell immediately after eating it. He said it was very greasy and not very hot. Overall, not a great experience and we won't be going back.

The food wasn’t hot just felt like it was reheated. The food was salty. The labelling system is not clear and nothing about any allergies or what’s in each item. My friend went to pick a desert and was flies flying around the deserts. The fizzy drinks were flat. Not worth the money paid and won’t be returning

Great little place - never too busy - food always hot and tasty. Don't get me wrong - its your typical all you can eat but it still bangs.

I really don’t understand why this place have only 3.9 stars ?! Today been my 4th time visiting them and they are just amazing as first time . Starting with very nice and kind staff , to clean place and very nice and tasty food . I really love . One of my favorite places in Lincoln .!

Not even an hour after dining at this place, my dad got food poisoning with severe stomach pains.he said the lemon chicken he ate felt like it wasn’t cooked properly and he thinks that was what made him ill. The food was rock solid and tasted like it was cooked from frozen, for the price we paid (£60) I don’t think it was worth it. We will not be returning back to this “restaurant”

Couldn't have been better. The food was hot, tasty and plentiful. The restaurant was spotless and attractive. The staff were amazing....literally Couldn't do enough for us! We visited with our Grandsons who particularly liked the deserts and chocolate fountain. Will definitely be back!

today i visited this place with my family of 7 people...there was absolutely nothing i paid 97 pounds for leftover food that was from a few days i asked the staff why everything was empty and there was no food and they told me they were going to close.very..but they still accepted us...i am very disappointed i do not recommend

Ten out of ten! Always tasty hot and fresh. Massive selection of beautifully cooked food including duck pancakes, prawns and all our favourite chicken, pork and beef dishes with heaps of fresh steamed garlic brocoli and shrimp toast. Gorgeous fresh cakes or fruit with chocolate fountain. Very clean restaurant. Great chef. And wonderful first class customer care from Steve and Amber who look after every customer so well. Great selection of drinks. Clean toilets. Parking outside if you're lucky. Otherwise parking just up on the right. Best restaurant in Lincoln and great for everyone.

Immediate excellent service with floor staff on hand at a moments notice especially attentive server Kirk! , food was a little bland din places and the individual pieces of food were small, the desserts, whilst looking beautiful lacked a depth of flavour and felt kind of empty , came during lunch rush so was a bit noisy but very well kept , music at a nice level to be enjoyed too.

We ordered from here. The prices were decent and the food was amazing. Delivery time was okay but kept changing. Only negative was the size of the sweet and sour source.

My friend has already complained and though I would to. The food was cold and very bland.One staff member who was a male was very very rude.We was polite and using manners he just rolled his eyes and was just straight up rude to us. But the rest off the staff were lovely

Beware! Good food but they want to charge you more if your stay overlaps into their higher price times. I went on a Friday afternoon with my wife and two year old daughter. The place was deserted, I think just one other table was occupied. We arrived about 15.30 and noted that the buffet costs more after 16.45. We finished eating well before then but took our time with drinks and baby changing. We paid the bill to a rude blonde lady at around 17.15 who made it clear we had overstayed our welcome and she was doing us a favour "on this occasion" by not charging us the higher price! The place was still deserted when we left! So yes, nice food but zero customer skills. Be warned.

Food was cold and soggy Food was the same as Iceland supermarket.

Absolutely disgusting, food was cold and hard, fruit flys every where and it was almost like their breeding place was the pudding area. Went to get my son a cake and the flys were all over although you had to look closely to see the flys, there was around 100 or more. Told the worker and all he did was waft them around. The food is not well protected nor hygienic. Don't waste your money go to vesta instead it's 100 times better! Well at least I don't fear getting poorly from there and it is actually clean.

Smaller selection of dishes than other larger buffets but a good selection of actual food, other reviews said food was cold but I didn't find any cold food personally, everything tasted good especially for the price (12.95 per person + drinks)

Worst ‘restaurant’ I’ve ever been to. Very little choice. All stone cold. Spring rolls and such have no filling. If you’re vegetarian there’s no mains you’ll be able to eat. If you’re vegetarian or have allergies, you’re screwed as nothing is labelled and staff have no idea what’s in anything. Couldn’t even finish out drinks as ended up with multiple flies in them…in DECEMBER! Honestly, it’s cheap but if you’ve any common sense you’ll avoid like the plague!

Had an all you can eat lunch on a Saturday. For an all you can eat it was reasonably priced, although if the price went above £12.95 a head I wouldn't say it was worth it. Food was okay, certainly not the best Chinese food we have tried but not bad for an all you can eat.

Was nice some of the dishes not as warm as they could of been but really good value for all you can eat Chinese.

Got called out to some blocked toilet drains, I was amazed to see the staff cleaning up toilet excrete and pouring it down the kitchen sink , no hot water in this facility either . Avoid !!!

Overall very good service, but it was not nice to be asked what we had chosen to drink when we got to the table before we were even seated. It's as if everyone should have decided in advance what they will drink, regardless of what they would take for food and whether they even offer it.

The food was good, but people stretching over from one side to the other slowing their sleeves to hand in the nearside food was awful. We asked for a glass of water 4 times so a friend could take her tablets and they kept forgetting, even though other drinks were being brought to the table. There was a really bad burning rubber smell so they opened the door but then it was very cold. Not my best experience here, but when meeting a group of friends we will probably be back there. They need to put a glass barrier up down the centre to stop people leaning over and contemplating food though, for hygiene I would give this area 0 stars.

About £15 each for bottomless buffet, drinks and deserts (cakes/ice creams etc). Food was absaloutely phenomenal, value for money is great and staff friendly. Definitely will return food was just amazing and the value was just 10/10!

I had to give 1 star to comment Disgusting We was in the building 30 minutes Max, food was definitely the night's before, luke warm, soggy, crispy and dry.. we went 12.30 so no excuse should of been fresh. At the point of paying and explaining we haven't eaten, the young girl said so you want it for free?? Sorry?? No not for free I explained my issue again not eaten, I can do it for free no problem.. they are obviously used to this complaint. But I insisted they took my payment. It's not about free food it's about not making people poorly and serving old food.

Just had the most disgusting takeaway ever. I ordered "Beef with ginger and spring onions" which came with a generic stewed beef in a dark brown "gravy" ... no ginger, no spring onions. And "Singapore noodles" which is just greasy noodles in the same bland brown liquid rubbish the beef came in with a bit of hacked up onion, sad, soggy spring onion and grated carrot. I'm contemplating the wisdom of giving it to my friend's dog but suspect that might be tantamount for abuse ...

Nice lunch at a reasonable price. Lots of variety. I sometimes think the chicken is not always the best quality but lots of other items to chose from. Prawns are great. Deserts are nice. We would always go back.

Food was ok and there's always plenty of choice but to pay £16 for a child is ridiculous. I'm sorry but you are a child until you are 16 in my eyes not 10. How many 13 yr olds eat as much as an adult? Not many that I know... Mine has 1 plate and then desert so not worth the cost... Would I recommend this restaurant to anyone else; No I wouldn't, ridiculously overpriced especially with the better world buffet place around the corner.

We have been coming here for years, but the last two visits will definitely be our last sadly. The standard of food has deteriorated, food is only warm, and generally not as tasty. This is only my opinion. So sad as it was the place to eat, value for money etc. Where has it all gone?

Myself and family attended here a few days ago and we were so excited to try. We were unsure of opening times it was nearly 12 afternoon and the doors were unlocked so we walked in as we saw other people walking around in there. A young lad came over and said we are not open yet which I appreciated and proceeded to wait outside with my family. However the lad then came out with a big plank of wood and shoved it through the door handles as if we were some kind of burglars. Made no eye contact and said nothing to us. This is just purely disgusting. We then walked away and looked for some place else to eat. Terrible customer service. Next time lock your doors so people can’t just walk in assuming you are open or at least greet customers in a friendly manner and explain. Massively disappointed.

We had a booking on Monday we thought that the food was excellent and had a lot of variety to choose from the boy in the brown shoes did more than his fair share of serving and clearing tables of plates and cleaning tables as well as getting customers from the door etc. Being a non smoker the boy in the glasses stood outside the front door and with the front door being open at the time the smoke coming from his cigarette was blowing back inside the restaurant, my thoughts was to not stand so close to the door next time and we noticed that the boy in the glasses kept going outside to smoke especially when it was busy leaving all the work down to the boy with the brown shoes as well as slowing down in his work and stayed near the bar a lot of the time which we thought was not fair on the boy with the brown shoes and deserved teamwork and help from his other Co workers even from the woman behind the bar. Later on during our time there we heard what seamed to be an altercation/shouting behind the bar from the woman with blonde hair we was sat near the door and thought that this behaviour was not acceptable and was causing a disturbance. We decided the give the boy in the brown shoes a £10 tip for all of his hard work and thought he very much deserved it. Apart from that everything was great and we shall be returning in the future.

the service itself was quite disappointing, there was no front entrance so me and my family went to the back bar only to be rudely greeted by the back woman who seemed inconvenienced by our presence. To which we put no thought too and sat and had our food. We later physically went to the bar to order some lattes to which the woman had an attitude and didn’t want to serve our drinks and got her colleague to help us, to which he himself was confused at why such a simple task needed help? After waiting we were told there was no coffee and then eventually ordered some waters instead to which we didn’t end up receiving. Unpleasant experience, I wouldn’t recommend.

What has happend to the taste . I use to enjoy coming for the food , now it's tasteless and very dry almost like it's been out all day , got refillable drink . Person came to collect plate partner asked for another drink was told one min please so she waited , the guy chatted behind the counter and sorted something out in the till , disappeared out the back only to come back not with a drink but with his back pack and off out the door he goes (thanks for the drink BTW) Ordered food also from justeat and sure enough that food was just as bad as this . Where has the days of enjoying a buffet that u can enjoy Still sat waiting for coke no one has been round since 15.58 and now 16.22 update on the refill we left without getting one Save money and travel to Doncaster to go cosmo so much better than wasting it here at the taste

Great value experience, food is great especially lemon chicken

Absolutely terrible experience, we were sat next to a table of in excess of 40 and more tables were added, despite there being plenty of tables available the other side of the restaurant. The noise of around 30 screaming children all under 10, many much younger was bad enough, but they were running around our table while we were trying to eat. The waiter and then the 'person in charge' said they would not have liked ot either but there was nothing they could do, they charged us a 'reduced rate which was 2.00 less per person. The food was not even very good, some dishes looked like they had been there all day, dry as anything and the salt and pepper prawns had been lightly battered shell on, including legs, inedible. The reply says 5 children, it was closer to 25, don't lie. If it was an existing booking then why put us there in the first place? Or at least mention it. The reason we did not mention it earlier was because they just kept coming and coming, there were probably half a dozen when we got there, by the time we had had enough there were well over 40, over half were littlechildrenliterallyrunning around in into our table. We cut short our meal because of it, don't lie about what happened, it makes you look worse.

The food that I took as a takeout was good (I’d recommend chopstix as the quality is a lot better) The atmosphere was nice but the guy that served us was so rude! We asked for a takeout me and my partner and he seemed to be in a bad mood. When I went to the front to get a takeout box he rudely shoved next to me to put a piece of paper down rather than just politely saying excuse me. He also walked off before that when we asked him where we should get a takeout box from as we’d never been before. He walked away so we asked another worker instead. Overall, the food was good, but the guy serving us has terrible attitude. The other staff which I assume was the owner and a female worker were both polite.

UPDATE for the reply from the owner: I want to apologise if my review caused confusion upon reading to anyone, however, I haven't mixed up any buffets I know where we went to eat. The late afternoon/evening time we went in it wasn't busy although I am pleased to hear you are receiving high praise and plenty of customers. This still doesn't take away from the fact that even though the dishes were very flavourful, they were ultimately on the colder side. The reason I thought the server was new was because the young man had to go and ask his manager a good 3 times when we asked about drinks etc then after they arrived we sat and waited 'assuming' he would come back and give us a quick brief like you mentioned in your reply they should, however to no avail. ORIGINAL: Im giving this 3 stars overall, the food was definitely on the cold side and some of it you could see had been sat a while with how dry and tough the chicken had gotten, I saw a chef too up/swap out some food once whilst we were there, they weren't very busy however this shouldn't be an excuse for leaving the food for as long as they did as this could inflict on customers health. The server seemed new and didn't know much about the drinks menu or the policies at all so had to keep going and asking the manager, we hadn't been before and was expecting perhaps just a quick brief like other places we have been too just like where things were, are we paying before or after or if there was a specific rotation around the buffet at all but nothing.

The main foods were amazing. The appearance of the puddings was good however the brownies tasted like play dough , the cheesecakes had no flavour and there was black hairs within the cake . I was disappointed as usually great . Our waiter mumbled , never said please or thanks and was grumbling whole time :/

Arrived 7.30 to a buffet that's open till 9pm. Food cold, kitchen closed no more food coming out. Beer and. Lemonade flat, 7.50.told.all.pumps off so no drinks ran out of soup also, asked for manager told had gone...... never again!!!!!!!!!!!

I just went with a friend for a Meal and it cost 30 . It said on the thing any spare food will have to charge you . I think that is bad . We didn’t leave a lot of food but they charged us . It’s a nice place but a lot of money for that

Excellent value for money. Can’t complain for £10pp. However, very tired management and staffs. Visible confusion can be seen among all of them when asked about the dishes, they seem to have little to no idea about whats going on and also some information by them are misleading. Immediate improvement in management is necessary. Otherwise lovely place to be with friends and family.

I've eaten once in here, it was ok. Service was decent as far as all you can eats go. I've also ordered from here. I'm not sure if the food is from somewhere different in the building but it was subpar unfortunately letting the place down.

We have been regulars here since before it was even The Taste, we’ve never ever had a problem and always enjoy our visits during which we always spend an excessive amount because the cocktails are beautiful. We regularly recommend to friends and family and have organised multiple festive work meals here. Well no more. After the way your manager spoke to me this evening, I will strongly be recommending that no one visits this establishment as the standards have dropped so drastically. Tonight, I made a complaint because I did not believe that it was acceptable for the staff member on the door to be actively turning away patrons when the restaurant was half full, simply because they could not keep up with cleaning the tables. They had offered us a table that we could not fit our pram next too without blocking other diners, directly in the path of the kitchen and within full earshot of the bar which is too loud for our daughter and actively upsets her, when I asked if we could have one of the other multiple available tables. We were told no, we couldn’t because they needed cleaning and to find elsewhere to eat. That is poor service and turning away customers is obviously negative to a business especially when you really weren’t busy in the first place. We would have happily waited for a table but instead of telling customers to wait a moment whilst a table was prepared, the staff member told us to either use the table that was unsuitable for our needs or leave. I approached the man behind the bar and calmly voiced my complaint, explaining that it was very poor customer service to be actively telling people to eat elsewhere instead of inside your establishment. I explained that I had been coming for years and had never experienced a staff member actively turning away a customer before. The staff member behind the bar then told me that because he didn’t recognise me it must be a lie that my family and I visit regularly because he’s worked there for 5 years and that I must be lying about the staff member turning us away. I explained to him that I had absolutely no reason to lie about the situation and if the situation hadn’t occurred then I would not be making a complaint to which he responded why are you lying then and told me that the other staff member had not said that. To which I responded with ‘you were not present so how would you know, I have absolutely no reason to lie about it’. At this point he became very rude and arrogant, rolling his eyes and sighing at me so I asked to speak to a manager. He told me that he was the manager so I then asked him why he was not listening or dealing with what I had said in a professional manner. At this point he became verbally aggressive. Repeatedly calling me a liar despite the fact that I was not lying. He then called the staff member in question over where that staff member admitted to the manager that he had asked us to leave exactly as I had described, he then expanded on that and gave an explanation that he had done it because some tables were dirty and he did not want to seat a table of three on a larger table. (Which we would have understood and we would have returned later had this been explained to us in this way but it was not) Despite the staff members admittance which was heard by multiple other customers. The manager still continued to call me a liar and verbally insult me until he just walked away because ‘I was distracting him and he was bored’. I have honestly never ever encountered such poor service before in my life and especially here. This situation could have been resolved with an apology and a quick word with your staff member about turning custom away without explanation but due to the actions of a manager that is incapable of dealing with a situation without acting like a petulant child you have lost multiple customers that have supported you for a long time. It’s a shame because you really were one of my favourite places to eat but I do not go into a restaurant to be insulted and spoken to so rudely. There is absolutely no need for it.

This place was great. The food was nice and you could keep going back for more and more. They had deserts as well, which you could go up to collect. They had many different foods from chilli shredded beef, prawn toast, and chicken Chow mein. The staff were very nice and there was this one person whose name I did not get, who was very nice and informative. Will go again.

As Chinese buffet go its not too bad. Its clean and food was piping hot, just needs to get rid of the plastic fruit and vegetables. Do not know why they have them, otherwise the staff were good.

I went to eat with my family today, September 15. I asked for an alcoholic drink. My parents were there and the manager had no respect or education and I took the cup out of my hands. I am of legal age and I still take it off without asking permission. It is disrespectful. Excuse Me? You took away my drink without asking permission that's a lack of education and you don't have any sign that says that you can only show the personal ID because I had a photo I didn't have it at that time, there is no sign that says that photos are not accepted or if you have it?

I've been there quite often before, today was the last time, the quality of the food was very poor, the pasta was very greasy, the food was in bain-marie and there was little choice. Moreover, the place is very dirty. Not a nice experience.

first let's start with the food, solid 2/10 the 2 only comes from the fact that it was edible. But all because it is edible doesn't mean you would want to eat it. The food was stale and dry and tasted as if it had been left out since the day before. Their shrimps weren't clenaed out so it still had the poo in it and the cost of their drinks was silly just for them to scam us wuth the size of the drink anyways. Now let's talk about the service. This was the worst quality of service I have ever experienced. Normally in a buffet its very had to have a bad experience with your server because you literally serve yourself. But from the tiny interaction that we managed to have the attitude displayed from the server was horrendous. The only reason that I gave 1 star is because I was unable to give them 0.

Avoid. Ask for a table for 6 people was placed near the door, politely asked for another table as did not want to be sat near open door told could not accommodate. Several large tables were reserved which was not used for the 1 hour 20 mins we was in there. Service was shocking, dirty plates not collected from table, no one asked if “everything was okay”, no waitress or waiter came near table for us to ask for refillable drinks. Son approached bar and asked for drinks to be refilled and was asked to bring the glasses to the bar for them to be refilled! Later a waitress came to table and asked if I could tell my children to stop running in the restaurant when they were all sat down at the table. Health and safety reasons they are putting people in danger! My son ran back to the table from the toilet as he was scared of a big bang in the isolated corridor leading to the toilet! I challenged the waitress about the poor service and she couldn’t answer just want back to all the staff stood at the bar laughing and shaking her head! When we paid for the bill I asked if I was to make a complaint do they have a procedure. The lady behind the bar said you can tell me, which I explain about the poor service and rudeness of the staff, the lady I felt was not interested at all and just said sorry hence why I feel the need to leave a review. New all you can eat restaurant opening soon in the city so you would think they would welcome the custom and encourage people in to their restaurant and that drive people away!

Rice is Packet, Par-Boiled Microwave. Not Acceptable. Should be Jasmine Rice, light and sticky to go with the Chicken Balls, not stodgy and clammy. Chicken in breadcrumb in strange and slippery, certainly not nice. Dessert is no real choice - no Choc Gateaux, no Forest Fruit Gateaux, no Cheesecake, just small plates of small square tasteless foamy blocks. Asked for a pint of water and ice - got a 1/2 pint of luke warm water no ice. No attention paid here and no one asked if everything is/was okay. Hot Plate temps not hot enough - heard a customer complaining could they put his food in the microwave. Things here need to be addressed. It's also very dimly lit. No Prawn Crackers either and the Spring Rolls were out of an Iceland Party Pack.
