I just got back from an evening watching The Worrying Men at Talbot Inn. The regulars are friendly and such a great crowd to be around, and so much fun. Made the atmosphere and the fantastic music in to a cracking night. Mer and her staff are brilliant. Super friendly and helpful. You can't beat great live music and a fantastic crowd of people. Made my night. Loved it. I'm looking forward to the next live music night.

Great pub to go to and have a drink with mates or to go and relax. The bar staff are lovely, always a nice evening when I've gone. Outdoor area with benches for the summer with some lovely tee's for shade and a small outdoor drinking area under shelter. Not enough staff on Boxing Day. I waited20 minutes to get served and asked to try an Amber Ale. This was duly placed in front of me then the barmaid wandered off and served other people. As she passed me I commented that I didn’t care for it and could I have a London Pride. She walked off and started serving other people in the other bar. I left.

Had Sunday lunch here, ordered the roast beef. I got the impression the beef was not freshly cooked and sliced as the gravy it was in was different to the additional gravy that came for the vegetables, suggesting it was prepacked. My party were also disappointed by the pudding, it was a chocolate pudding with cream and it was clearly shop bought as the wedge was tiny, less than I would serve to a child, and it cost £5. The service was however very good and the staff were all friendly.

Took FIL for lunch at The Talbot, as since the chef left they have decided to start up again and do sunday lunches, as no chef at moment it was done by the staff and wat can I say, starters of pate and garlic mushrooms came out and they were very tasty. Main course I had the chicken and FIL the pork, as soon as arrived before veg came out we were both impressed, veg arrived in hot dishes with individual jugs of gravy, and could not complain at all, asked for another jug of gravy and it was no trouble, throughout the whole meal, we were both complementing how nice it was and how it tasted like a proper sunday lunch at home, only let down could not curl strait up on sofa after with a full contented tummy. Even FIL said best sunday dinner he has had in a long time and beat his last experience of the talbot which he did not enjoy. This time he could not praise it enough. WELL DONE MER, POL AND THE TEAM, u done a brilliant sunday dinner...

Nice old fashioned pub with good food but a bit disorganised. As we were camping in the area I made a telephone reservation for 8pm on a Friday. When we arrived they said there had been a mistake as they only accept booking up to 7.30pm. Nevertheless they did serve us and both food and service were excellent. We returned for dinner on Sunday around 6pm (admittedly without booking) and were disappointed to find they stopped serving food at 3pm. We would visit again if in the area but be aware of the food serving times.

This place had been talked up quite a lot and maybe that was a bit of a problem. At best it was goodish pub food. The meat eaters in our party seemed to consume the roast meat with great gusto but personally, I wasn't at all impressed with the veggie stuff. It lacked flavour and tried too hard to be innovative rather than delivering. Chips and puds were OK though.

I came in last week for some lunch with my Husband and had a very unsatisfactory meal in which we had to wait an eternity for. To be fair, my Husbands starter wasn’t too bad but I had the mushrooms on burnt brioche bread. For main, my Husband had the steak which tasted burnt never mind chargrilled. I had fish cakes which were supposed to have come with some sort of cheddar and leek whatever but instead I got a plate of salad. The fish cakes themselves were a sloppy mess in the middle and came with a jug of mushroom sauce - very bizarre. We decided to skip dessert. We came on a weekday lunchtime where it was fairly quiet so no excuse for rubbish food. Wouldn’t recommend.

Went for lunch with hubby, FIL, BIL and SIL, as they were over from america, we decided to have starters, I had the fish starter which included crab was nice, and plentiful, BIL & SIL shared the pate which looked nice and they agreed tasted nice as well as with the garlic mushrooms and dripping on toast which the others had. Our main courses arrived, 3 roasts of the day and 2 brivette and fries with salad was the description, which i had one of, it was nice and tasty, although i was disappointed as the salad did not really materialise, it was just a couple of leaves (tiny), sorry chef but if it says salad then it should be a side salad as i love salad and was looking forward to it. All the others enjoyed their food. Desserts followed with a cheeseboard for Hubby and all were very nice, I had the affagato and needed it for my drive and plenty of cheese and buscuits and the creme brulee was enjoyed also. Went for sunday lunch with family, to try it out now up and running with food. We arrived early and the staff were friendly and welcoming, we got our table and looked at menu, we were told soup of day and the pub meals if not wanted a roast, however that is wat went for, I had chicken and the men pork belly which different for roast, turned up and a nice surprise for men is that it came with black pudding which was not mentioned, did not ask for extra veg, but was told more coming which was proper nice veg, the only thing i would say is not keen on pureed parsnip. Wat is the main highlight for me is I am a stickler for yorkshire pudding and I like proper homemade and I cannot say anything wrong with it, was a proper slab of it and loved every bit of it. Sauces turned up in nice little jars which good as sealed with lid. As for pudding FIL had a mixed berry crumble with custard, while me and hubby had cheeseboard for two, and it turned up as it said, biscuits and cheese, no grapes or celery, which is wat was good, all foreign cheese, but plenty of it, just one I never liked and plenty of biscuits. Overall amazing meal and would definately go again, prices very reasonable also!!

Friendly to people, dog lovers, great for kids, nice garden and a healthy kids menu, or half price smaller versions of most of the menu. This is for lovers of great value homemade food. 3 courses for £15 during the week. On mother’s day there was complementary, really lovely, sparkling wine for the mums, with flowers from the landlady, for the same price as a normal Sunday roast. Old school classics with a twist. The Hog roll is a huge sausage roll the chef makes there, and the triple cooked chips are really nice. The prices, very, very reasonable,on Sunday, three courses of very locally sourced food will set you back less than £20. During the week the set three course lunch was only £15. stayed one night on 07.08.24. 2x people, 2x rooms. Clean 10/10. Ambience 10/10. Friendliness 10/10. Comfort 10/10. Beautiful rooms, view across to 500 year old church from the bedroom window. Large free car park as part of the hotel. And the breakfast was honestly the best breakfast i ever had in a hotel setting, 12/10 for that. Highly recommended place to stay by us.

This pub is the best find in Wiltshire, support local independent pubs. Their Roast was outstanding we were made to feel so welcome and relaxed, we would love to see them again next year 😊

Cozy and upscale pub, nice selection of hearty pub grub and a warm cozy dining area to enjoy the meal. It did take a good 5 passes of serving staff before someone acknowledged us waiting at the restaurant reception to sign into our booking, but perhaps it was a busy nice as the service otherwise was great.
