We had a take way from this Resturent.food was excellent and hot.definitely we will order again.

Very kind staff, excellent service and we come regularly to eat here and the food is of the highest quality and drinks, including the desserts. My favourite is the kolcha naan and the lentil soup. Very nicely newly decorated inside too.

Love this Indian. Go there often never been disappointed. Until tonight when people on the next table had a dog with them. The dog smelt and was close enough that myself and another person in my company could smell it while were eating very off putting and complely spoilt our meal. Sad to say won't be going back .

Been going to this restaurant since it's opening night, food excellent, but went tonight and was disappointed to find that restaurant is pet friendly, and me and misses have c o p d and asthma. And being 2 feet away from us ,we ended up coughing all through our meal ,sorry to say we will not be returning.

We had a takeaway .I had chicken vindaloo which was okay at best ,heat but no flavour. . My wife had chicken tikka byriani, which was flavourless overloaded with cabbage. All in all 2 poor meals . I expected far better after reading reviews .we are not local so definitely won't be using again . Nor would we if it was the local takeaway.

Just ordered a takeaway from here charged over £35 for an average meal. Used to be a good takeaway, but it seems like they don't care about the size of the meal, for the price. will not be ordering from here again.

My absolute No.1 favourite restaurant of all time! The Taj Mahal has recently been refurbed and has a lovely and fresh new look. The staff are amazing and true friends of the family, as we have been coming here regularly for over 20 years and have tried many dishes, I would recommend them all! The dishes are phenomenal and I always very much look forward to visiting, or ordering takeaway. The prices are very reasonable, the portion sizes are generous and we always order a large number of dishes, so that we can take the leftovers home. I cannot recommend highly enough. A million stars!

1st time was good, 2nd time a year later it was closed for a refit, 3rd time a few months later still closed for a very long refit - maybe the bank has got involved and is not playing ball..

Service was poor, seemed like a new waiter who messed up the bill and overcharged our group

Excellent Indian dishes at a fair price.

1. The taste is average, not completely worth your money. Indians / the ones who've had Indian food in India can relate to what I mean. 2. I wanted a take away and told him my preferences. He suggested me a list. I specifically told him I need some gravy. He said those are not completely dry. I again told him I need it to be semi-gravy or gravy and I cannot have it dry. He said okay. And I ordered a cauliflower(gobi) and mushroom. But he gave me Aloo gobi and mushroom, both of them not like I asked. Also I didn't ask for Aloo with my gobi. And those were huge chunks. It was predominantly an aloo one than aloo gobi. I'd never try there again.

Visited the restaurant about 5 days ago early evening had the Chicken Tikka and nan bread, very tasty. Thank you, Chef 👨‍🍳. Washed it down with a kobra beer 🍺. I would like to add just a friendly important advice to one member of the staff. Put the phone way, please. Too much time on it. I was looking and waiving at you, but you were so deep on the phone.

We’ve been meaning to eat at The Taj Mahal for a while, glad we finally did, the chicken tikka masala was amazing! The interior is nice, the service was great... Loved it, hopefully we’ll be back.

This is one of the best Indian meals we've had for a long time. Ordered a takeaway to deliver to the camp site and arrived on time. Good value and delicious food. I've eaten many currys but this is definitely up there as one of the best 👌

I was ordering Chicken Vindaloo with naan bread. It was so delicious, the sauce was so creamy with very nice aroma, naan breads were so fluffy and big, i havent seen or eaten such a good naan before. People working there are so kind, they even tell me some facts about spices they are using, and what are their health benefits. It was good time spending time in this restaurant. I recoomend it, 1st class.

Found this restaurant on trip advisor. We wanted a takeaway near Abbey Road Campsite. Fantastic food, beautifully presented, good value for money and delivered quickly

Only guests due to early time of booking, warm and friendly atmosphere as more people arrived. Good food , clean & tidy, family friendly.

This was a much anticipated return to this unassuming restaurant in Abbey Wood, and we were not disappointed. Excellent service. Delicious food well presented and the result again was clear plates all around. Could not say anything negative about the food or service. They do prefer dinners to pay in cash if possible and will offer a 10% discount if you do, but cards are accepted.

2019 review: Love this place! Prices have never increased, owner is a lovely man. Top quality food and soooo much better than Brick Lane! **Update as of 22nd August** From the outside it’s the same but wait for it, inside it looks smarter then we thought oh no it’s under new management :-( and sadly it is… The tables are way too close together, we sat in the corner and the table next to us was the length of a knife away - so glad no one sat next to us as they might as well of joined in our conversation! We ordered and sadly the food was very bland. The chicken madras and vegetable curry both tasted the same and didn’t have a kick to it. Must of been the same sauce the chef used. It was all perfectly eatable but the quality of food isn’t the same! We then got our bill and wow the prices have increased!!! Previously we normally paid around £28 but this time it’s £41.75!! Massive increase and sadly because of this and quality of food we will not be returning. Upon departure the waiter asked us to leave a Google review so here it is and he said the old owner is retiring - please come back!!! Also there is a new chef, no wonder the quality of the food has gone down and little taste. Service was still very good and waiters were polite - no problem there at all. Only things to address are: food quality, prices and space out the tables! It’s abbey wood after all and as the old owner always said, it’s abbey wood after all, what’s the point hiking the prices up here when people in the area don’t have the money. We were the only ones in the restaurant with a very little takeaway being done. On previous sundays it was non stop, again example where the new management are failing. **UPDATE** Staff very polite but after waiting for my takeaway for which a 20 minute wait turned into 50 minutes then when I got home to finally eat it the food was stone cold!! 😢 prices have gone up since the new owner and just not the same quality of food at all I’m afraid. I won’t be returning. 2023 UPDATE We tried again and sadly it’s got even worse. Please bring back the old owners. Sadly the table opposite were given the wrong food and a vegetarian got given meet and she was ill. It’s more like a cafe now not a restaurant. No table cloths, no music and not very clean. Take aways seem to take forever as a guy was waiting an hour for his. The price we paid was sadly not worth it and they even forgotten a dish and still charged me for it.

What a lovely restaurant. We booked a family dinner at 6pm on a Sunday. We were the only people in so we were treated so well but the waiters were not at all intrusive. We were eating with our two young sons and all of us thoroughly enjoyed our food. We ordered onion bhajis to start as one of our boys fancied them, we were told we would get three but they gave us four so we could have one each. They were fresh, crispy and tasty. The popadoms were also fresh, tasty and hot. Our mains were delicious, hot and plentiful. We ordered chicken tikka, paneer shashlik, chicken methi and lamb chilli massala. The meat was tender, beautifully cooked and succulent. The chilli massala was our favourite. I cannot fault this restaurant at all and we look forward to returning to dine in again.

Dropped in on the off chance and had a lovely meal. The staff were very friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. The food was delicious. Was staying at the local campsite. Would definitely recommend using this restaurant.

My Favourite Indian Restaurant by far!

Popped in to the Taj Mahal after an evening in London. Very pleasant staff , friendly and accommodating. Food was excellent ,quick and piping hot. Prices are very reasonable . Would definitely recommend trying and next time we are in the area we will most certainly be calling on again.

Hadn’t been there for years and was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere and friendly efficient staff. The food was delicious. One of us is vegetarian and there was a good selection. Will definitely be going back soon

Found this place when we lived in Abbey Wood for a short time and really glad the Elizabeth line has made it easier to come back! Just had a delicious vegetarian meal! Lovely server, relaxed atmosphere, very full and very happy!

Placed an order on Uber eats, the restaurant does not provide tracking through the Uber app so after a 2 hour wait decided to call the restaurant to find out where our order was. Tried calling the restaurant numerous times with no answer, eventually got through to the restaurant and was hung up on!!! Called AGAIN and told the restaurant that we wanted to cancel our order but was instead told that we’d need to wait an additional 30 minutes (which would have made it a 3 hour wait!) the staff member on the phone told us that the order was never confirmed, while in the same sentence confirming the time we ordered?! Had to contact Uber to receive a refund, with Uber having the same issue of being unable to get through to the restaurant. AVOID!!!

We have been here quite a few times now through the years and absolutely love it! My young daughter can't eat dairy and won't eat spicy food and I can't eat dairy or onions (so pretty challenging when eating curry). They are always so kind and make us special dishes from scratch accommodating our dietary needs. Tonight they made her a mild chicken bhuna and for me they prepared a delicious king prawn and lentil curry, I don't think they shared a name for it, I never had it before but it was so flavoursome and spicy, just delicious. The staff are also very welcoming and sweet with my daughter and the restaurant is clean and not too busy when we go, usually around 6:30 pm. We will undoubtedly go back again. Thank you!

Delicious Danshak! The best we have had. Nice staff. Really recommend this restaurant for eat in or takeaway! Woolwich people - our centre has no Indian restaurant, and this is only 4 mins on the Elizabeth line from woolwich and right next to the station. Lovely area. Worth the trip!

We enjoy coming here weekly , never had a mad meal always really pleased with our food . Incredible service from all the team they will bend over backwards for you , even cook items that are not on the menu ! 5 star all round service we highly recommend this restaurant.

This is an excellent restaurant, we are in London for a few weeks and on our arrival we ordered some takeaway food which we thought was really good and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We returned a couple of weeks later to dine in and the food was even better, Sam was very friendly and attentive and his dad such a nice man. I had a mixed korai which was so fresh and delicious, one of the finest Indian meals I have ever had, my wife had a paneer dish and she said the same, the Peshawari nan was to die for. What more can I say? We will definitely go back.

I got chicken tikka, chicken vindaloo and chicken korma along with the pulao rice and honestly everything was so sugary I had to I guess fix it in order to make it eatable. The chicken tikka and chicken korma were extremely sugary and the chicken vindaloo just tasted burnt. The chicken vindaloo’s tarka should have been cooked for less time tbh. The rice wasn’t great at all sadly. I’ll be honest I wouldn’t really recommend this place. Needs a lot of work and really expensive for food that isn’t great. Kind of wouldn’t really give it one star either.

Hard to find something this good in London. When I look at a restaurant, I tend to look at five things: food, service, price, presentation, and atmosphere, generally in that order. They did well on all five. The quality of the food and service were impeccable. The dish my girlfriend got was beautifully presented. You really can't beat the price. We had 2 mains, 2 rice, some poppadom, and a bottle of wine and it came to £46. The place was clean, well maintained, with some quiet inoffensive music in the background. They were also super accommodating to my food allergy. I'm coeliac and they checked multiple times with the kitchen to make sure the food was safe for me. I'm writing this well after eating and no issues. It's a great place. You should go. I'll be going and bringing friends.
