The Sycamore in Tameside

I came here for a meal. There are parking facilities at the rear for quite a few cars. The entrance is for all people. We were shown to a table. The staff are friendly and efficient. The menu is extensive, and the food is very good. Alcohol is served here. There are a number of beers and wines available. The food was hot and quick. The prices are competitive. I will definitely come again. Not much to add, only to emphasise the staff are very good, food and portions very good. Well worth a visit.⁷

On 9th October, after my wife's funeral, we all came to the Sycamore for her wake. Louise and her staff provided a superb hot buffet along with a friendly and sympathetic atmosphere. I would recommend the venue to anyone Barry

We were on the hunt for a pub that served good food and showed football, and it's not always easy to find these days. A Google search suggested The Sycamore. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere was cosy and relaxed, perfect for enjoying a meal and watching the match. The food was absolutely delicious! We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and portion sizes. The buffalo chicken sandwich was particularly amazing and obviously made fresh. I also appreciated the clean and well-maintained toilets. It's the little things! Overall, we had a fantastic experience at The Sycamore. We'll definitely be back.

The fact that you can now eat your food in the bar area as opposed to the souless dining room is a positive for us. It is a fairly traditional breakfast menu which was served in good time and was tasty. The service was attentive and friendly but the provision for things such as sugar and sweeteners could be better without the need to share with another table. Whilst there is nothing wrong with a tea or coffee it might be beneficial to extend the hot drink offering. Eg a coffee machine. That aside we will definitely return.

called in for a bite to eat with the grandkids after a few hours in the park next door can only say the worst food and service i have ever had in my life and im 60 the food was bland cold and not very well cooked i had a sandwich the bread was stale burgers were over cooked chicken nuggets overcooked i was asked how the food was when i told the very miserable bartender they never even asked me what the problem was and just Walked away

4 of us stay close to the sycamore we was made to feel really welcome. lovely food friendly staff great atmosphere. The barmaid went above and beyond for us all we will definitely be returning here. Pets are welcome to ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

had a 10/10 roast dinner here today, everything homemade & delicious - we were really happy with it! great, friendly service, very dog friendly and good value for money in my opinion. definitely going to be our new local for a roast!

Just had the chicken burger meal, chicken was lush and portions were massive we all really enjoyed it! Defo going to be trying more of the menu! Tameside connoisseurs recommended it!

Lovely local pub serving food, great place to watch a match and have a few pints. Had Sunday Lunch here, food and service was excellent. Really friendly staff, nice atmosphere, was made to feel very welcome. Gutted there was no lemon cake for pudding, will have to visit again soon!

We hired the function room for a 60th. The buffet was absolutely brilliant. We chose 1/2 hot and cold. Catered for 30 people, and there was so much of it. Everyone was happy. Cheese and onion pie got totally demolished. Bar staff looked after everyone. Great atmosphere.

Limited lunchtime menu, but I ate everything I paid for. Don't eat out much because I don't even eat half. Rag Pudding, uneven cut chips like mine mushy peas £9,00, value for money will return

Traditional local pub with quite a large car Park at the rear although could do with some lighting as very dark, obviously don't drink and drive just nominnate a driver is the best way to go, snacks and fóod available.

Really delicious fish. Portion size very filling. My son had a beefburger made to his liking & my husband had the hunters chicken. All meals were excellent.

Lovely lunch, really reasonable cost for 3 courses and good choice. Food great, took really good care and interacted with our 3 year old twin granddaughters. Hostess was 1st class.

Went for breakfast on the Saturday, great service by the ladies, couldn't do enough for us and the food was very nice.. look to have a very good main menu and Sunday lunch menu too, would recommend..

A great local for everyone with warm really personable service and great food. We ate their with our grown up daughter and 2 dogs and we all had the Sunday Roast. The food was really good, generous portions, really well prepared and served, without being to upmarket and designed. This had that perfect home cooked feel without you doing any of the work or washing up!! Highly recommend the whole place, we were kind of passing through and it was recommended, so we gave it a try and were glad that we did. It just felt like you’d been made at home in your local pub, without you actually needing to be a local.

Called in for lunch great food and service the only problem was the room was very cold.

great pub that started to do food this year. Now serves food daily and has just launched their light lunch menu. Smaller portion sizes, but we are talking northern portions so are not really small. Can recommend the fish and chips ( hand battered and very fresh. I don’t go to the chippy now for fish and chips, here is much better. have had several things on the menu. Cheese and onion pie is great.. daily specials Monday to Friday and super Sunday lunch. Value for money is terrific and the food always consistently good. Staff are super welcoming and friendly. Immaculately ,clean too. I am so lucky this is my local.

Our local so spontausly decided to do breakfast on a Friday during my spit shift. We were not disappointed as both small breakfasts were great. The food was served freshly done and hot. Just the way I like it. Great sausages and efficient service. It would have been a 5 but the menu could be a tad more extensive. A truly hidden gem.

Lovely warm welcome and a great choice of draught beers. Dog friendly but still kept on leads etc so they wasnt running wild! Not tried the food yet but menu looks good with lots to choose from at affordable prices so will defo return and try their Sunday roasts or 2 Fish n Chips for £10 Special they were advertising.

We went for a funeral wake Debbie and Syke gave absolutely excellent service especially considering how short staffed they were, they are a total asset to The Sycamore Inn .

Just had a lovely lunch at the Sycamore. We called in for some quick pub grub, and left having eaten sea bass on a bed of new potatoes and asparagus! Which was a lovely surprise. The menu is extensive, and the kids meals are very generous too. Definitely recommend it, and we will be back.

Debbie and the sycamore staff organised a fantastic reception following my Dad's funeral yesterday. From our first meeting to discuss options Debbie and staff were warm and friendly, and on the day she couldn't have done more for us to make things run swimmingly. As mentioned in other reviews the Cheese and onion pie was outstanding, we will definitely be going back to sample again under happier circumstances. There was plenty of food on the buffet and a good variety, we opted for half hot and cold. All my family were very impressed overall and would highly recommend for any function. We had about 35 people in attendance and there were plenty of seats to go around. Thank you so much Debbie for a job well done 👍

We often call into this place on route to Stalybridge. Its a Robinson's house but still has a good selection and a big outside seating area at the rear.

Great, friendly little pub. We were there for a private function and watched The City Champions League game. The pub was FULL! The girls behind the bar were amazing, they didn't stop all night, thank you.

I chose The Sycamore to host my Mum's Wake and I am so pleased I did!!! The room was lovely and a perfect size for our 40 guests. I opted for the 'Half Hot/Half Cold' Buffet - my word - it was absolutely stunning and worthy of a high-class restaurant. The Cheese & Onion Pie and the Hot-Pot were the stand-out favourites amongst all the guests, and although we agreed 3 fillings of sandwiches, they actually included a much larger variety. I thoroughly recommend this venue should you be looking for a function room and also to speak with Debbie who was my contact there. She went out of her way to make the afternoon as comfortable as it could be for me and my guests! My only regret... we do not live closer to return and use this as 'Our Local'. Thank you all at The Sycamore!

Visited the Sycamore for breakfast yesterday and it was the best breakfast in Ashton, great food well cooked, the sausage was extremely nice! I had the large breakfast and it certainly was that, will definitely be returning again

Clean and presentable, there is a pub side and restaurant side. The restaurant takes bookings only a small site so advisable to book. Outdoor seating available for the summer days with some onside parking available. Worth a visit with family or friends.

A well kept well run family pub. That also serves traditional food at lunch time. Worth a visit for mega burgers and great Sunday lunch.

Decent food at reasonable price

First time coming to the sycamore pub and it was a great experience. The food was delicious and the service was perfect, all of the staff were very friendly specially Debbie who served us today. There are also lots of options on the menu to choose from and a kids menu. The interior is nice and modern and there’s a big car park behind the pub which makes it easily accessible.

Great service, great good and great atmosphere

We saw that The Sycamore in Ashton under Lyne we’re doing food again, this morning I saw a share on Facebook about Fish Friday. After going to a hospital appointment we decided to try it, we were not disappointed at all, both my husband and I had fish, chips and curry sauce. The fish was so tasty, batter very light not soggy and the curry sauce nice and fruity. The staff were very welcoming and we will definitely be going back. Thank you so much xxx

Food just basic but with friendly staff

Popped out with a friend and it was an open mic here tonight, my first time here and I must say the staff are great and very welcoming and more importantly the beer is great quality and some of the acts was hilarious I believe thay do food here from 12 pm until 8 pm Wednesday to Sunday . I would just like to say thanks for a good night.

Visited the Sycamore today, which is under new management since Feb 2023. The staff were very pleasant and have a full menu on between 12-8pm. Drinks were fine and the snack I ordered was just right, look forward to trying a full meal on my return. Worth a visit, thanks Deb.

Just popped in while waiting for a bus, seems to be a friendly place catering for the locals ,range of Robinson's ales and other brands of lagers and ciders available both in bottles and draught and usual range of alcopops from the fridge and also a good range of spirits available, world cup football was on when I called in and place was quite full but got served immediately and found a seat, always looks busy when I go past at night time.good little pub and would go again when I have more time, bus connections 237 and 348 to Ashton under lyne and Stalybridge with bus stops over the road and on the corner , altogether a nice little pub.

We had the misfortune of booking this place today for the wake of our beautiful nanna. Unfortunately one of the bar staff seemed to have a problem with my child and was dampn right rude and insulting towards her and my family. We left before we'd even finished our first drink. Avoid at all costs

We had my mother's wake there on 5th September and they did a fabulous job, plenty of food to go around and with a great variety to chose from. Nothing was too much trouble, plenty of parking space and a great venue. Value for money to be sure 😍

We held a Wake here, the staff were exceptionally helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Communication was faultless, the staff made everything very easy. The pies were absolutely delicious, we had 2 guests who were celiac and therefore had a gluten free pie which they said was fabulous. Thank you to everyone there.
