We had a lovely lunch here with family after the museum. The younger staff were friendly and patient with our order as there was quite a few of us. The food was very reasonably priced. We all had a mixture of toasties and sandwiches which came with salad and crisps. The milkshakes were thick and frothy. I shared soup and a sandwich which was really hearty and thoroughly enjoyable. Chunky home made vegetable soup and a chicken club on a barmcake. Would definitely come back. Really liked being able to eat outside by the canal in the sunshine.

What can I say - had a lovely visit with a group of 12 of us visiting for Afternoon Tea. The table was beautifully laid out, the food was excellent and plentiful, had to take some home as I couldn't finish it all. Staff were attentive ensuring we had everything we needed. Well worth a visit - I will certainly be going back.

Excellent food, presentation and service. We could not have asked for anything more.I made the booking approximate two weeks ago and we were not disappointed. As a Christmas treat we opted for the Festive Afternoon Tea. Everything was delicious, in fact all four of us brought some food home with us, boxes being supplied by the owners because the choice and quantity was far too much for us to eat at one sitting. We would certainly recommend you visit Bridge View Cafe. Merry Christmas to all concerned and we wish you a prosperous New Year. We will definitely visit again in 2024.. Regards from 4 delighted pensioners you made our Festive Afternoon tea a true delight.. Cheers Marjorie & Tony Lowe, Lois & Jim Darnbrough

Food wasn't great, extremely greasy and bland taste, table service was poor. Staff mixing orders up delivering our food to the wrong table, then instead of passing us our food, they just left on the opposite side of our table. Very loud atmosphere with a women screaming at her kids and staff doing nothing at all to defuse the situation arising. It's supposed to be a nice family friendly environment with a complimentary service along with good food. Sadly not. The museum joined to it. However, was fantastic.

Sadly very disappointed. Menu was best described as sparse in content and elusive to find a copy of. One staff member was rushed off her feet shrike another was paying full attention to her social media on her phone. I think if you get here after the breakfast menu closes (menu says that is at 11:30 and also at 12 noon so who knows!) then lower your expectations to ham, cheese or tuna sandwiches. Tables were sticky and it just felt tired and like opening it today had been done with minimal efforts. Luckily we found another option locally!

I had taken a group of elderly ladies and gentlemen with dementia out for the day and had taken a very small picnic with us due to the expense of their being 11 of us in the group and the different speciality dietary needs, we had all got settle around the outside area where there was one other customer sat enjoying the sun and a cup of coffee, the owner of the cafe was extremely rude and abruptly told us that that we couldn't sit there! I explained that I wanted to get these elderly people a cup of tea and a slice of cake to go with their sandwiches and he rudely shouted u can have a take away cup!! I explained that I didn't want a take away cup as the difficulty for these people holding onto a paper cup can become quite difficult and that I wanted a proper cup with a saucer for these people all in their late 80s early 90s, yet he refused and told us to move over to the picnic tables that had no shade and these elderly people were then exposed to blinding sun, this man was so rude and when I told him I would be writing this review on his mistreatment of these elderly people he went on to tell me to include all my details as he would then come after me!!! I have never in all my life been treated or had my elderly group of people treated in such a manner and i am extremely upset with the way this man spoke to us!! He will be elderly one day let's hope someone has the kindness and respect for him in a way that he refused to give to us!! My ladies and gentlemen that were able to understand him were extremely upset with his treatment and very disgusted! There was no other customers sat outside so we were not taking seats for other customers, we were obviously not good enough to enjoy his outside area, needless to say we didn't buy a takeaway cup of tea and we certainly will never buy one from this rude man again

A busy Sunday lunchtime. Cafe not equipped to handle many people ordering hot foods at the same time. We were warned of a 20-25 minute delay, which turned into 40 minutes for food and 50 minutes for the accompanying coffee. Staff were polite - but looked like not enough staff. Food was good when it came.

Asked what they could substite for the menu's 2 x eggs, and after checking, the kind young lady said "I have Linda McCartney sausages". Wasn't expecting that, AND soya milk available. What a breakfast! £5.75 including a pot of tea and toast. We shall return. Two very Happy vegans. Thank you from Anthony and Chrissie x

Called for breakfast after walking from Hyde to visit the Portland basin museum. The prices are very reasonable and although we had to wait a bit longer than you would expect the staff were very friendly and the quality of the food good. I would say that the restaurant needs a little TLC, the chairs have had so much use that the upholstery has completely failed in a lot of cases, you get a sinking feeling when you sit down!

We parked at corner of the museum building where there is a locked door with a sign overhead saying Bridge View Cafe. The first time we visited, we saw this locked door, so went and ate elsewhere, as we thought that it was closed. Upon our return and seeing the same locked door, I walked round into the museum reception to ask about the cafe, to be told to drive down to the lower corner of the building and go through the wrought iron gate and through the courtyard or come into the museum and go down the steps to the lower level. I said that my mum was disabled and struggled with so many stairs, so we drove to the lower corner of the building. The aforementioned gate is locked with a PIN number entry, so no entry is possible, so we drove back round to the museum entrance. A security guard there pointed out the lift down to the cafe - why didn't the man on reception mention this in the first place? Useless! Once in the cafe, there was half of the area set aside for a child's birthday party - luckily, they weren't loud. We ordered the food and drinks - service was a bit haphazard, but there was a sign saying they were short staffed. There was only a short wait for food - everything seems to be freshly prepared. The beef, onion and cheese hot sandwich was good, with plenty of fresh salad and the jacket potato was large and well cooked, although the topping choices are a bit basic. We would certainly go again, now that we have found it, but we would sit away from the door, as a cold draught sweeps round the ankles every time that either door opens.
