Grapes restaurant in Tameside

I did visit at a quiet time, so I didn't expect the atmosphere to be at its best. I did enjoy my visit, and had a lovely meal.

Followed Tom’s recommendation. Really nice food , good prices. Lovely village atmosphere.

Pitched up for dinner on Christmas Day. First off, the music, which should accompany the conversation, was far too loud, to the point that we were shouting at each other to be heard when we arrived, which doesn't make for a great welcome. This situation did improve as we were seated away from the overbearing festive songs. The service was good, being friendly, helpful and accommodating. Robinson's Dark was a nice pint. Plenty of flavour without the 'weight' of Guinness. All three courses were fine, all perfectly edible and tasty. My biggest gripe at this time of the year is the inflated prices. Being generous, outside the festive season, three courses would set you back £40. It's Christmas with additional wage overheads, so call it £60. So, £75 a head feels over the top for a three course roast dinner. But then, another local restaurant wanted over £80, so you pays your money and you take your choice. Bottom line: Good service, reliable food, too loud and overly expensive for what it is, so rated as okay.

Was recommended to this little gem by my son the food was absolutely amazing I had the king prawns on sourdough the sauce was just amazing it was followed by spicy lamb koftas on a flatbread and again it was beautiful it was totally filling meal. I would recommend this venue to everyone. The chef must be a magician as we didn’t wait very long for our starters and main meal. The young lady who was serving us and bringing our food was very busy but was polite knowledgeable about some of our parties allergies and always had a smile on her face nothing was a trouble. The staff at the bar were very polite and smiling all the time. We had a wonderful evening and made our stay there absolutely great. The staff at the venue are a credit to the owner and management.

Place had 2 people in. We were bowling and had a beer. Not the cheapest I must say but bowling green was very good ( although we lost)

Went first time on Friday.. considering there was only one other couple in the restaurant..service was poor. Waited quite a while for our starters...which to be fair was nice. Then had to wait quite a while for our mains. At this point there was just the 3 of us. We ordered the fish and chips...there was more batter than fish..which was well over cooked. And our son ordered burger...which he says wasn't the best. Sorry guys but we won't be going back...poor service and over cooked fish.

Tried whilst in the area and welcomed by staff who told us its dog friendly. Not much for dogs there ie. Water bowls or dog menu however, the honey chicken was amazing and the best chicken dish I’ve eaten in a while! Good drinks selection!

Tom sent us. We were in the area to see Avril Lavigne and Simple Plan on 3rd August and decided that the food looks so amazing on the life of tom vlogs that we were going to give it a try. We were not disappointed in the slightest. The food was out of this world. My partner and I still dream of the arancini with black truffle. We will definitely be back whenever we're near Manchester. 100% some if the best food we've ever had. Definitely recommend.

We went in on the off chance we could get food with no reservation having seen the place on Tom Syndicate's vlog and after I had been sat for 6 hours getting a tattoo and was STARVING! They fit us in, the staff were great really helpful polite and chatty when they came over. Other half had fish and chips and I had Katsu, probably the best Katsu I have ever had and the batter on the fish and chips was insane we ate so fast didn't even realise the food was done 😂. Had a vanilla cheesecake and it wasn't overly sweet at all 4 pepsi maxes 2 mains and a shared dessert £49 not going to argue with that at all. Definitely will be back! 10/10

Wow what can I say this has to be the best food ive had in a long time and that's coming from a head chef. This is spot on. Keep up that amazing work. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. Absolutely PERFECT

This was the worst experience I’ve ever had! I’ve been to some great and lovely restaurants pubs in this area.hyde gossip we called for a Mother’s Day catch up!!! 17 of us to the grapes. Staff unpleasant quite rude!!? Asked us if we were smoking weed!!!! I’m a none smoker and only had one in our group who was smoking the whole experience was unpleasant only 5 had a meal out of 17 will never return unpleasant atmosphere only one member of staff on the bar!!!! The member of staff was rude cold and rude

Went today (17/2/24) with my girlfriend the food was amazing I had fish and chips which came with 2 rather large portions of fish and my girlfriend had the signature burger which she said was amazing! The deserts were just as good. I had cookie dough and her the sticky toffee pudding. Would highly recommend 10/10.

Delightful evening we were very impressed. Good choice of wines, beer & ale. Great menu lots of different options, unlike the usual pub meals. We dined on salt & pepper chicken with mac n cheese which was gorgeous and two starters was enough for 3. For main I had the king prawn & monk fish tagiatelli it was sublime!! The staff were great, friendly, efficient & attentive. We loved the booths, the decor is fresh and inviting. We will be back for sure!

Nice pub with a good atmosphere and nice staff.

I have to say the two young ladies working in the restaurant were superb and a credit to the pub, they were both very polite and served us immediately with a smile. Food was top notch and would definitely recommend. Prices are reasonable too.

Four of us dined in the Grapes, and all in all a really good experience. The food was really good, especially the small plates, think we would all return, which is a Biggie for me, because I am really a foodie, and am very critical 😬so thanks for a lovely lunch.

Hands down the best meal and dining experience we've had. We came as fans of Syndicate and wow, this wasn't a disappointment. Amazing food, great atmosphere with music playing and awesomely attentive staff. One of our party was coeliac and lactose intolerant and they made an amazing effort to explain the menu in depth and even mark out on their exclusively gluten free Menu what is naturally gluten and lactose free and which ones could be adapted to suit. Food quality was stand out. There aren't many times syndicate gives a 10/10 food rating for places he visits in his vlogs and wow, was he right! Everything was cooked and prepared to perfection and the price for 3 people with drinks, sides and puddings was just £85. So worth it and we are already planning our next trip up here to eat here again. Well done to all at the Grapes ! <3.

Been waiting to visit this restaurant for a very long time and to say the most it was well worth the wait. We was greeted by a lovely lady behind the bar pointing us to the restaurant where we was met by our waitress. The food service was very quick and absolutely amazing

Good god their food is incredible!! Best meal I've had in a very long time which from a small British gastro-pub is pretty amazing! The service was so on point and the staff were absolutely lovely.

While I was in the vicinity, I was enticed to stop by for a meal, having seen the delectable food showcased on the "𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗢𝗳 𝗧𝗼𝗺" YouTube channel. The online photos had my mouth watering in anticipation. Sadly, I discovered that food isn't served on 𝗧𝗨𝗘𝗦𝗗𝗔𝗬'𝗦 (we were not the only ones that did not know), but the staff's courteous demeanor more than made up for it. We opted for a few refreshing drinks instead, and me and the family vowed to return for a meal the next time I'm in the area! (Will update when we do). The pub itself is a charm, boasting a beautiful ambiance, impeccable cleanliness, and an enjoyable selection of music. It's a place I look forward to visiting again.

traveled from birmingham to try the food here as i’ve seen it featured in Toms (Syndicate) vlogs on youtube. well it didn’t disappoint, i had the salt and pepper chicken, buttermilk chicken burger and for dessert i had the waffles. everything was so tasty all tasted fresh. menu is reasonably priced especially for the quality of it. the staff were friendly and welcoming, fast at clearing and cleaning tables which is good to see. while i thought travelling 3 hours just for food was a bit over the top honestly didn’t bother me after how good the food and atmosphere was. if you’re in the local area or….3 hours away definitely try this place out

Visited the grapes restaurant for the first time, ordered two roast beef meals. The staff were excellent and the foods was just as good. The waffle desert finished the meal off. Definitely recommend and returning again.

Called just for a drink but saw the food and decided to eat, glad we did it was so so nice, had a few small plates and couldn't fault any of them.

1st time in here, much bigger than I thought, it has a carpark and a back garden to sit in. Friendly staff . The food was the best I've tasted in a long while I chose the vegetarian burger, it was very tasty and filling . Prices are reasonable.

Lovely spontaneous visit for some lunch. Very nice. Picked off the small dish menu and had as a shared pick and mix. Lovely! We will be back.

Good old pub recently modernised.

Limited menu which is offputting...however the dish I chose, chicken breast with mushrooms was excellent. The service and our Waitress were equally very good. Nice experience. Recommended 😊 siitable if not generous poortions...however a vegetable accompaniment..maybe Spinach or Asparagus woul be good!!

Took my father for a meal and randomly picked this place. Been over 40 years since we were last there. From start to finish the venue delivered. Car park and exterior was lovely and well maintained. The team working were smart, professional and very polite. The food we ordered was delivered promptly and was delightful. Even managed to watch Leeds get beat by Forest 😁. Highly recommended that you give it a visit.

Love this place, food in the restaurant is simply faultless, services is ace too. I believe the lady who runs the bar could occasilannly do the odd smile but it's not enough to put me off going there.

Always friendly staff. The place is big, there's loads of space inside and out, front and rear. They regularly show sports but it doesn't really interfere with the rest of the pub. There's a separate food area and the chef there is very good. The food is always exceptional.

Exceptionally good at accommodating allergies with friendly staff and homely atmosphere. Our first visit, but will definitely be coming back often from now on.

Pub grub it’s NOT. The food in the Grapes is not typical pub grub, menu is changed on a regular basis and the food is great ! If you need to alter something on the menu and it’s possible they will do their best to accommodate you. It’s a busy place so be sure to make a reservation!

I went here for something to eat, parking no problems for all people entrances for all people. Plenty of space and tables in the pub. Menu s plenty of food on it at reasonable prices, men u for desserts not a lot on them, but what I had was very good especially the waffles. At reasonable prices. Staff are professional and friendly. Thoroughly enjoyable. Well worth a visit.

Sunday lunch was great. Staff very friendly and helpful. Has a separate dining room or you can sit in the bar area which has its own menu and TV sports showing. Also outside seating area and a car park.

Our midweek soiree & we enjoyed our food. The staff are super friendly and the food was good for pub fare.

Food was small portions. Staff seemed too busy to add drinks to the table. , 3 course meal for 5 came to 200 quid. With 3 rounds. Menu seemed limited only about 8 starters 8 mains . Was clean and food was good but 27quid for a steak 10 oz ribeye or 8 0z sirloin, to me seemed pricy . Might be normal priced after covid, fuel prices but was good .

Had a really beautiful meal here last night.Brilliant menu choices and the Haddock we chose was the nicest we have ever had. The bar and waiting staff were extremely polite and helpful.We called by chance but will return by choice..

Walked into the restaurant and was greeted by the rudest woman behind the bar, didn’t even make it to the starters!

Visited here with my friend and rescued pooch, Lola. Looked lovely from the outside and we wanted a spot of lunch! We were in good spirits when we entered, only to be greated by an unwelcoming staff member behind the bar, grimacing at us. My friend asked if they were dog friendly and the lady behind the bar replied, 'well I'm just looking now' she looked us up and down before saying, 'yes we are , but not that sort of dog', in shock I asked what she meant, she replied 'well what sort is it?' I explained she was a staffy cross, and the woman grimaced again and explained yes they were dog friendly but the landlord would not be happy with that sort. We were appauled and hurt. Lola, lives with children and other animals, I can assure you the only 'sort' of dog she is, is friendly. Avoid here if you want a warm welcome.

Lovely place for some food. Be warned that the car park entrance is very narrow so anyone in a Chelsea tractor might struggle.

Actually, it may be the best food even including city centre. Steve and Becky with their talented team never disappoint. In the years I have been going, I’ve never once had a meal to complain about. Freshest ingredients, cooked excellently, and presented brilliantly! Competes with the best for quality, at a price cheaper than probably all of their competitors. Great food, great staff, great experience! Well done folks!

usually only go to the Grapes bowling they have a great bowling green at the back of the pub , but the pub itself is always busy , and I believe the food is great

We celebrated mothers day at the Grapes today, this was our first visit but definately notcour last. All 8 of our party thought the food was amazing and the lovely ladies that served us were fabulous. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.

Another Robinsons refurbished pubs. Done to a good standard and serving a cracking pint of Unicorn. Very nice fish and chips and good selection of burgers, plus plenty of other nice choices. All in All well worth a visit.

An excellent choice for good quality food and drink. They have a separate restaurant area, away from the pub where sports etc are on, so that you can eat away from the main crowd. They also offer a bar menu that is slightly pared down for if you want to eat whilst watching the match or in the main bar. The Arancini and Katsu Chicken Curry that I had were lovely and my friends had the burgers and reported back in glowing terms. Definitely be back 👌🏼

Why travel to Manchester when they serve excellent food in Gee Cross, just excellent. Steak and fish were perfectly cooked

Booked a table for 4 on a Friday night. The pub and restaurant were really busy glad we had booked! Atmosphere was excellent people really enjoying themselves. The food was excellent. Really nice menu to choose from. Drinks were good, arrived quickly. We ordered some water as well but were given dirty glasses so they were changed quickly. Only reason for dropping a star was that we found a couple of the waitresses unfriendly at times. Other than that the food was excellent and we will definitely book again Great place to have in the village

Declined despite making a reservation. Staff were comedically rude, inconsiderate and even tried using scare tactics. Wouldn't recommend at all. Instead went to a much nicer restaurant just a few minutes away instead where the service was much better.

The food here is always wonderful. All 7 of us who dined said how lovely it was. Service is brilliant too. The pub area has a great atmosphere.
