The Swynnerton Arms in Stafford

Not been in a while and took husbands sister with us. Food was excellent, just had it had been on our last visit. The service was really good. Unfortunately, my husband became ill/faint-like. while we were there. The staff helped me to get him to a chair by the fire doors for cooler air They also provided cool cloths to cool his head. They were really attentive and especially helpful in keeping an eye on my elderly sister in law. Nothing was too trouble for them. Thank. you Kelly and all the team on duty lunchtime on 11th September.

The food was tasty but greasey, there wasn't a very good choice for vegetarians, and it was expensive.

Last minute decision for lunch today, we were able to be accommodated even though they were busy. Really friendly, helpful staff. Had the 2 course menu, all of our chosen dishes were tasty with good size portions of traditional pub food (great chips). After getting the bill we're told kids eat free which was great. Will be returning.

Triple cooked chips were animic steak trips were still raw and when complained bar manager was laughing with other members of staff after we were told it was the potoes

In a party of 10 and the food was gorgeous, garlic mushroom, chicken and mushroom carbonarra and arctic roll were all amazing

The food is lovely and home cooked style and I absolutely love the chips we took my step son and he really enjoyed his meal he can be quite fussy too I didn't give five stars as on occasions they made mistakes with my drink or order but I can't fault the food.

Visited The Swynnerton Arms for the first time after visiting the National Memorial Arboretum with the Royal Artillery Association. The food was superb, well presented, good sized portions and served promptly by friendly and helpful staff. Choice of drinks was good and the place has a good atmosphere.

Excellent food, great service & great atmosphere

Really delicious Sunday roast!! As far as atmosphere and vibe go, it’s a fairly standard British pub, had a lick of paint somewhat recently in its life but the building is noticeably older with wires taped poking out of the walls… that said the overall appearance is good, and it absolutely doesn’t take away from the food. Service was a tad slow, but we were pretty laid back about it anyway. Really good beef on the Sunday roast, highly recommended and a really good price point too.

We went with some family today, servers are friendly. I had the roast beef dinner which wasnt very warm and it was served on a cold plate so went really cold quick. Tastes nice when it was warmer. My husband had the sweet chilli tofu which he said was nice but the pitta bread it came with was a bit tough. For pudding I had the brownie which was really nice but again the custard was lukewarm, I like my custard hot. Husband had the tiramisu which was really small especially for over £6. For this and a pint and half of marreti was £44.60 Probably won't go again, for food anyway.

Went here on the spur of the moment with family. Great atmosphere even for late afternoon/early evening. Staff were really friendly and efficient. Great 2 course meal for £13.99 (at time of writing) which was lovely. Will definitely visit again and happy to recommend. Thanks staff👍

Went on a Friday night and hadn't booked. However, the staff are great and found us a table straight away even though it was busy. Food order was taken and drinks were prompt, but that's where it stops. Food was very mediocre on both courses. Frozen and churned out quickly. Chips were overdone and aired. I really wanted the place to do well , but the food has to change ... maybe OK for a cheap family get together.

A very good experience, lovely menu with plenty of choice. A relaxed atmosphere and no rush to finish your meal.

Disappointed yet again that 2 courses for £11.95 " not available on Bank Holidays". Staff lovely, food OK but absolutely no sense of welcome or anything to encourage a return visit.

Had booked the table but wasn’t set. Took 15 mins to get served and grill night no longer available! Liver meal like leather when we eventually got served and had to request cutlery and serviettes before we could eat the starter. Very disappointing. Won’t be in a rush to go back!

A superb Sunday lunch! Food was delicious and great service. Perfect portion size! Loved that the vegetables were served on the side and a great amount! Will definitely be back.

Always a good variety of meals to choose from and very reasonably priced. Food is good quality and we are always made to feel welcome by staff.

Wow, just wow! 18 of us went today, no complaints at all. We had to pre-order with being a big party but the staff & kitchen coped really well. Will definitely be back, can’t recommend high enough.

Excellent service, the food was lovely and hubby said best pint of abbots ale he's had for a while. I've not been there for a while ,but I decided to book sunday lunch, highly recommended, and I can't wait for the next visit.

Had a gorgeous meal the first time we went, but it wasn't so good the second time, completely different food preparation, steak was left chunky not the normal for stroganoff

Went Saturday night with 2 friends food not good at all and it was quite cold in there won't be going there again.

Went here tonight for my mums birthday haven't been for a number of years an will not be returning,way over priced an food not brilliant,mum order her meal advertise it came with salad (no salad on the plate myself I ordered beef strogernoff way over priced sn one tiny garlic bread or worth the money at all.

Not been to the Swynnerton Arms for a while as it keeps changing hands and whilst we've never had a bad meal, it's been inconsistent! 2nd visit in a week, service, food and drinks were spot on despite them having electrical issues! There's engineers on site fixing the issue, so don't be alarmed! Didn't wait an age, food was fantastic, and couldn't fault the service! If anything, added to the ambience as there were candles lit all around! Would highly recommend to anybody, food is spot on! If I could change anything, it'd be a little bit more choice on the £11.95 2 course menu, but that's just my personal choice, there's plenty on there to suit all diets even mine, but a bit more choice would be lovely. Great choice of starters though, and would recommend the Curried Cauliflower! We'll be back, without a doubt! Seems to be in good hands at the minute!

Visited on Sunday evening last minute after returning from holiday. No booking but llthey happily made us a table and were very accomodating. Friendly staff and attentive, making sure we were happy with the meal. Good portion sizes and price. We will be returning.

We've not been to the Swynnerton Arms for a very long time and thought that we'd give it a try... Glad we did! Tasty home cooked meals... proper well cooked hand cut chunky chips, and crispy battered cod. Great service and a warm welcome on a very cold day! Thank You.

Not been for a few months since changing owners personaly i think its gone downbank couple folk i know have been last couple of weeks and they say same not as good as it used too be dont think we will be going back and neither will the others shame really as used to be brilliant value for money others may say its ok but its my opinion

We both had hunters chicken enjoyable good food to much the only thing that let the meal down was the salad to much lettuce not enough tomoto n cucumber I can tell this meal had had a few cut backs on it ie not eniugh sauce but as I said it was nice

We went for a late afternoon get together. The staff looked after us well. Very friendly. The sandwich and warm food we had was very presentable. Food was good . Price for drinks as any other pub

Gorgeous food and decent size portions. Lovely clean and cosy surroundings. Myself and 4 friends visited for the first time and we all said that we’d return. We all ate from the 2 courses for £11.95 menu. I had broccoli and cream cheese bake followed by raspberry and white chocolate roulade. The staff were friendly and soon sorted out the bill after an error. Highly recommended!

Was a lovely place to go for a meal but today we were disappointed man that served us was miserable and food not too good

Really good authentic country pub that’s under new management. Staff were very attentive and the food was good value for money. My only critique was the menu advertises “2 courses for £11.95” to which we did main and desert and when we got the bill this campaign wasn’t applied. When we asked the staff they explained it was only on certain sections on the menu which wasn’t very clear. That said the food was worth the money and we had a nice meal so didn’t let it leave a sour taste.

We had a lovely evening out for mums 87th birthday all the staff were pleasant and efficient the food was amazing freshly cooked there is a good choice of beers and wines I will be going again

Brilliant recommendations to anyone

Very rude staff, kept waiting for a long time to be seated, food was below average & tasted very cheap, no one asked if our meal was nice, had to go to the bar for a drink as no one checked if we wanted a top up then when we went to order a pudding we were told they had stopped serving now, it had only just gone 7.30, super let down & wont be going again.

Terrible meal they had ran out of peas on a Saturday evening 6pm mushrooms cold, chips looked like they had been in the fryer all day and the pepper sauce was like water would never return

Came here on a Saturday afternoon for a quick bite to eat in between visiting family. We understand it was a very very hot day and this can impact the running of a restaurant. However it was bad from the second we arrived. Myself and my husband were stood waiting at the desk for a table. There was only person behind the bar who walked past us twice and didn’t even acknowledge us. Again, I understand that she was serving drinks but a simple “I will be with you in a minute guys” would’ve been so much more polite. Finally we ordered our food. The starters were okay I suppose you get what you pay for. Then the main courses came. I had ordered the ham egg and chips. The ham what literally just a piece of ham from a packet. The eggs weren’t cooked properly. My husband had scampi and chips. Both our meals were cold. I can’t even say they were just warm they were actually cold. We were apologised to by waiting staff every time they were at the table so we can forgive that side of the service. I.e not one single time were we offered a drink refill. As these two girls were not waiting staff they were from the kitchen helping out. We will not be returning

This was a first-time visit to this Pub/Resturaunt . Good parking free, disabled access ok on entry they had displayed their food hygiene certificate on the entrance door which was a four. It was a bit tight once inside the pub for anyone using a wheel chair. The place looked tired and needed a lick of paint. A member of staff greeted us, and he didn't look happy at all!! it was the heat.He showed us to our table and just went. we waited and eventually he came back and asked for our drinks order, I have reviewed many venues over the years and would just a little enthusiasm from the staff, times are hard and if venues want customers to recommend and return some effort must be directed to the customers, having said that he returned with our drinks order and left .My pint was warm and not very pleasant. I caught the attention off Kelly who may i say was completely different a credit to the restaurant she exchanged my drink and took our order. But alas the chips were cold and greasy the food wasn't the best I usually take photos, but the food was awful. One of our party does not like dressing on her salad but when it arrived it was covered and had to be returned, We chose two courses £11.95 either a starter or main or a main and sweet. To be honest the menu was bland and not much choice. I ordered mussels marranee half of which weren't open so i didn't eat them a tiny piece of warm bread came with it, but the butter had been place under the bread which had melted, I am going to stop there because it wasn't for us, but I try to be fair You might say that what would you expect for £12.00. But if you time that by four and add the drinks plus recommends and return visits it soon adds up. Two courses sounded good but limited choice on the menu and cold food are not.

Don’t bother until they sort the lease out the current managers appear to not really care. When in Saturday afternoon and they had run out of beer!!!! Just had some lager on tap and bottles that very poor management or a cash flow issue. They need to get it sorted or don’t bother the pub was great with great food it currently isn’t which is great shame. If they get their act together we’ll be back
