Booked a table for Mother's Day in March due to set price displayed on board outside which seemed good value. No where on board or menu inside was it displayed that they added 20% TAX when asked for bill. I added a 10% for service charge as we had not given a tip. It was only when I got home that I googled and found out that restaurants can charge without tax as long as it's displaying clearly. Very disappointed as this added £15 on bill when this was a rare treat due to our family really struggling due to Cost of Living Crisis. Food nice but nowhere near the price we actually paid in total. Feel very conned.

Lovely friendly place, food was excellent (it was a Sunday lunchtime so I had the roast pork) & all 4 of us commented on how good the meal was. Don’t expect fancy ‘poncey’ food, just very good quality lovely food. Our friends had been several times before but in an evening, this was their first lunch visit but we all commented on how good it was. We will all be back again - soon I hope!

Stumbled on this little gem of a restaurant while visiting the heritage site. Amazing food, we had the sausages and mash and they could go half portions for most dishes with kids. Loads of specials and the desserts are all great. Staff are so friendly in this family run restaurant with home cooked food. We will be back!

We had a three course dinner on a weekday night. The food was excellent from a menu with plenty of choice. The wine list was good too. The service was friendly and efficient. A pleasant place to dine and exceptionally good value. Highly recommended.

Went for lunch, which was very good, fresh, and tasty and appealing on the plate. What I didn't realise, when looking at the menu on line, was the amount of daily specials that are also available, 3 starters, 4-5 main courses too, from salmon, my wife said was lovely, Lasagne, Goulash just to name three. I had the a chicken signature skewer (with fries) and wasn't disappointed, very fresh, nice size portion and tasty. There are more lighter bites, if you want sandwiches, panninis and there is also an evening menu. The staff are very pleasant, give you the time of day, not just there to take your order, so if you want to engage they will, but will leave you alone if you don't. Also it's deceptively larger than you first think, there is a front room, a cosy back room and a patio area, which will be great in the summer. All in all a very good experience and will be back.

What a lovely unexpected find. We were looking for an early dinner in Battle and came across this wonderful restaurant. Warm welcome by Sandra who had a lovely sense of humour and engaged in banter with the 4 of us. The menu was excellent with a wide range of dishes all well prepared and delightful. We had a lovely evening and will definitely return. This restaurant deserves all the praise it receives. Can’t fault it.

This restaurant should be much busier. The food is lovely and cooked on site. We have been here several times and never had a bad experience. Rick and Sandra are friendly hosts and the waiting staff are efficient and friendly as well.

I’ve eaten many times at the Sweet Olive . Food is always delicious fresh and well cooked . Staff are what make this place special . They are extremely kind and nothing is too much trouble for them. Menu varies with specials of the day . They cater for group gatherings and can help with menus and food suggestions . They catered for a family funeral and everything went without a hitch . Thoroughly recommend .

Had a look around Battle castle then had lunch at the sweet olive. The food was delicious, had a crab salad and banoffee pie, It was all freshly cooked. The waiter was very polite and friendly. Would highly recommend if you are visiting battle.

Enjoyed the food and overall experience here a year ago whilst on holiday. Whilst visiting Battle today we decided to eat here again and weren't disappointed. Friendly staff and varied menu made for a very pleasant time. Hope to return again next year when on holiday in the area.

Returned to Battle 44 years after we first stayed there. Found The Sweet Olive open and were warmly welcomed. We had main courses and they were both excellent. Such excellent service was given by all the staff. Thank you

Due to travel problems we were going to be late for our reservation but the restaurant went above and beyond, to make sure that we arrived in time. They even opened earlier for us as we had a train to catch. The food was delicious, with generous sized portions. Would well recommend. If we are in the area again we will definitely be coming back

The owner and her staff went above and beyond for us on our first visit to battle. They were extremely accommodating and made us feel so very welcome! There were 8 of us dining and we had such a lovely meal, there was a really great choice of food on the menu as well as the specials board. The brie starter was absolutely delicious and enjoyed by most of us! The food was freshly cooked and the restaurant its self was very homely. We had a most enjoyable lunch and if we were ever in battle again we would be sure to visit! Thank you so much!

We contacted this restaurant last minute as we were let down by another local restaurant - we were a table of 8 and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating and friendly. The menu was good and varied - and the food was excellent. The manageress apologised for the service as they were short staffed but we weren't aware of any problems and thoroughly enjoyed our evening. We will definitely be back if we're in the area again and would thoroughly recommend it.

Lovely food as usual. We have eaten here many times over the past 3 years and we are always delighted with the selection on the menu, Sandra's advice on which wine to have and the service. Local 'home cooking' at it's best and the prices are competitive. Just had a wonderful lunch there. Highly recommended and they use local suppliers for meat etc.

Good location and very pleasant waitress. However the lamb burger tasted cheap and more like a kebab, was thin and tasteless in a pita. I was told that the butcher opposite supplies the burgers, but I'm not convinced. Was given a salmon skewer instead which was nice but very small.
