The roast dinners are beautiful, the best roast beef I have ever tasted with perfectly season veg, crispy roast potatoes, homemade stuffing and crispy Yorkshire pudding! The brasserie has quickly become my favourite roast dinner spot in Shepton.

Travelling past Shepton Mallet we decided to stop for lunch. Free 1 hour short stay parking in the centre! A quaint if slightly decaying town. Walked through the square and then spotted the Shepton Brasserie. Spacious and comfortable with a varied menu. We both chose ciabattas with different fillings with tea. Staff were friendly and service was quick. The food was excellent and nicely presented. The ciabattas were the best we have had and, we discovered, locally hand made. The bacon, sausage and eggs were clearly quality and not just off the shelf. Overall it was excellent, a pity we do not live close enough for this to be our regular place to dine.

Looking at sofas in Haskins so thought we’d try here for lunch as it within the store. Googled the menu first as the menu isn’t advertised anywhere in the store and the word “Brasserie”depicts expensive food. Glad we did. Had an amazing tuna melt ciabatta and Mum had a huge pot of cauliflower soup. Hot, tasty food. Staff lovely with a good eye for detail. One of the cups they bought over was dirty which she noticed so swapped immediately. Would definitely return.

Very disappointed with my Sunday lunch phoned to book was told to arrive before 1:45 as they sell out of some items, duly done and they had no roast beef or Yorkshire pudding so I settled for pork after being assured that it was loin, it certainly was not. The stuffing had what looked like nuts in it having a allergy I got my partner to check and yes it had nuts in it no mention on the menu and they didn't ask if any allergies when placing the order, when I told the staff they weren't that bothered just brought me a side plate to move it to I did say if my allergy was severe I could have died, still the staff weren't bothered. I think they need better training and maybe a smile. Shall obviously not be going back nor recommending it.

I had a delicious tofu salad from the specials board on my last visit, so I was looking forward to going back yesterday. Unfortunately, nothing vegan on specials board. The sweet potato and caraway soup of the day was vegetarian rather than vegan. The only vegan option was jacket potato and beans and salad without butter and coleslaw. The food here is really good and the rest of my table had a lovely lunch. The brasserie would be even better with one or two vegan dishes of the quality of the rest of your menu.

All in all very nice. Owner is I'm told Michaelin star holder and capable of great food. Here though is some basic stuff. Sunday lunch is said to be great but I was only there for hot chocolate. Prices seem fair in today's market. It's located at the back of and part of a furniture store complex but does have its own access from the street so seems an odd location but inside it's very pleasant. It's everything you expect. I've not eaten there but plan to. Food rating is from a friend's experience and what I saw others having.

I've been to this restaurant loads and everytime the food, service and surroundings have been top notch... Not today the kitchen looked like a bomb had hit it, dirty messy and the man and lady were talking so loud you could hear every word they were saying, over the music, feel like I know them well now. I love the usual chef he keeps an immaculate kitchen and service. His food is amazing but It's this kind of thing today that puts me off a place, felt more like a greasy spoon today! Don't know if it's the usual chaps day off but today wasn't good... Chips were very well done, scampi OK, burger OK.. But they are usually amazing!!! Felt grubby in there today which is not usual. Sad...

An excellent place for a bite to eat in Septon Mallet. As the lay out is big, with small areas dotted around the premises as welll as carpeted, the Brasserie is a fairly quiet, despitre the amount of people inside. It might look a bit dated, but it beats the loud modern eateries, hands down in my opinion. The food was perfect and tasted fantastic. Had the Panco Prawns and the New Yorker Ciabatta. Just enough food at a very reasonable price. Ordering at the service till, was the only thing, which took a bit of time, particularly when busy, but over all a brilliant place to eat.

Very expensive for ok food! For a "BIG BREAKFAST" it was small and nearly £10 plus coffee. We understand that hospitality trade is rough but this is what will kill this place. Timely service spoilt by friend's plate put down so quickly that the gravy slopped out onto her white slacks, he/the waiter didn't even notice. Substantial amount of food but don't expect a Yorkshire pudding unless having beef. The separate portion of cauliflower cheese cost extra so made the whole meal more expensive than what it already was. The roast potatoes were far too soft but the meat was tender. The pork crackling looked forward to was too hard to eat. Don't have the House white wine, almost undrinkable. Otherwise pleasant staff generally and helpful. Nice clean spacious environment. BTW: their burgers are tops! Had this on a week day.

Lived in Shepton Mallet six years now. Been into the Brasserie 6 times. Only once have I ever been served. I've left 5 times having waited at least 10 minutes for a menu, acknowledgement or service. The one time I was served, I got a microwaved wobbly quiche, warm salad and a waitress nearly crying because of being yelled at by the chef a couple of years ago. This time, we sat down. Waited five minutes. Received a menu by a very friendly waiter. Then ignored for a good 5 minutes in front of the serving area whilst six staff talked about a fridge. We didn't have the time to wait any more so got up and left. It wasn't busy, and we really wanted to try the great menu, we just seemed to get ignored. The decor is very old fashioned and feels like a BHS canteen from the 90s. Rip the carpet tiles up, be a little more attentive and get some better lighting would be my review, as I can't judge the food. Yet again, I wasn't served quick enough to judge. I do think that a good 12 minutes to even take a drinks order is really pushing it, sadly.

Not been to the Poachers since it reopened. A real village pub with all types of people. The menu, it might look like a usual pub menu, but the quality of the cooking was amazing, especially the Stilton and celery soup. I would think it is all home made, by the quality, nothing bought in. Really friendly accommodating staff, made the meal even nicer Looking forward to going again, even if I ask for two lots of soup as a starter and main! I don’t even like Stilton, but it was lovely.

We enjoyed a one night stay for a birthday celebration. Our room was very spacious and had everything we needed for a comfortable rest! Loved the bathroom and the bed was huge and we slept really well! Although we had our very own alarm, that being the church bells ringing at 9.30 calling everyone to service lol Tea n coffee facilities were good and had plenty of it! Would definitely stay again soon for a cosy stay!

We ate Sunday lunch. The food was was very good and at £18 for a main I thought was reasonable value. Four of us paid £120 including service charge. Sunday lunch menu is more limited than the evening menu. There were four starters, a choice of topside of beef, chicken supreme, pork belly and vegetarian option. All came with roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables and Yorkshire pudding. A cauliflower cheese option was also available at extra cost There were only two desserts on the menu and we tried both which were excellent. Top tip. There are two dining areas one downstairs and one up. Access to the upstairs is via a steep spiral staircase. If you struggle with stairs for any reason avoid this area and I'd check where your table is when booking. Service was friendly but a little slow. Partly because it was so busy. My only criticism was our table upstairs was on the small side and felt a bit cramped.

I booked for a party of 10 people, we were asked to pre order, which I fully understand. Some of our party did change their order once we were there, this was done with out any hassle. we were all addressed by our names which was amazing as I can't sometime remember my own lol. The food was the best I'd had in a long time, excellently presented and also the flavours define. Everyone should give this small restaurant a try, If I lived closer then I would use it frequently. The only thing I would say, it doesn't stand out in the street, and in such a competitive high street full of eating places it needs something to draw people off the street. Well done guys, hopefully see you next year if we go to Twinwood.
