The Swan Pub at Kingston in Taunton Deane

Excellent Sunday lunch. Choice of three meats, six types of fresh veg, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, stuffing and gravy. All gluten free. Highly recommended. Great value for money.

While the food was tasty, the quantity was small and the contents minimal. Also, the fact that they wanted to add a 10% service charge left me less than satisfied with our visit. Can’t see me returning.

We were totally impressed by the hospitality and professionalism of the staff. Gorgeous 'proper' English pub with lovely decor and ambience. The cod & chips was fresh and a very generous portion and the chickpea curry was filling but sadly lacking in flavour. All in all, very highly recommended due mostly to the amazing bar and waiting staff.

We enjoyed a delicious roast at The Swan yesterday. The meat was melt in your mouth and full of flavour . I’m glad I went for the mixed roast. We all thought the same. Great service and atmosphere.

Having met friends for a walk at Fyne Court we decided to call in for some lunch afterwards. What a little gem! Beautiful pub, clean and well presented. Cheerful helpful staff, good menu which catered for our Vegan and Gluten free friends. We would definitely visit again

I was with a group of 6 ladies enjoying our annual weekend away. We stopped here on Saturday for a pitstop during a walk around the area, It was warm enough to sit on the bench tables outside. We met some of the friendly locals who stopped to talk. The staff were friendly and the drinks were well needed. We had pre-booked our Sunday lunch. The food was excellent! Piping hot, perfect veg, extra gravy and delicious. I believe we owe a thank you to Tracy the Chef. Again chatty locals, fabulous staff, and cake to take home, its a 10/10 from all of us 😁

The Swan Inn set in the beautiful village of Kingston St Mary Taunton Somerset so well worth the visit, the food was outstanding as was the cleanliness and the staff were so helpful and obviously enjoyed their jobs. I will definitely recommend this to friends and l will certainly be eating there again or calling in for a coffee or something stronger.

Well what can we say we arranged for a 70th birthday party with friends and family for 30 people the atmosphere the staff and the buffet food that we had was just second to none I would highly recommend here for just a normal lunch or evening meal and also for the party everything g was just fantastic 👏

We were very disappointed and found it expensive and not value for money. The Lamb Leg Steak was fatty and chewy. Potatoes were slightly hard. Vegetarian choice was limited to two dishes. The menu on the website was different to the one presented to us in pub.

What an absolute gem of a find , came here with all my family and friends, 30 of us, (for a wake ) food was delicious, freshly prepared and cooked to perfection, good portions , excellent service, excellent price. Honestly absolutely awful! I recommend to my friend we go here for lunch after having a nice meal back along. When booking I asked them to make a note that there would be 3 vegans attending, to which they said no problem we have but roasts. Perfect. So we ordered 3 nut roast and a salmon. We got told straight away they had no salmon, and then 5 mins later that they had no nut roasts our drinks we ordered were 3 lime and sodas and an elderflower, we hadn’t even had a sip when we were told to pretty much leave as they had no food for us. The lady who told us was nearly about to cry and we all felt very sorry for her. An hour or so later I then received a phone call to which I thought would be an apology from the place but actually they were calling to say we hadn’t paid for our drinks! Myself and my friends couldn’t believe it! There was no apology and I just told the lady they couldn’t feed us so we left our drinks untouched as the women serving us agreed with. They just said ok and out the phone down! Disgusting service and will never be coming back. We have already told a lot of people who were shocked and also said how bad our experience was.

This pub is lovely inside and looks wonderful after the refurb. It's cosy, comfortable and situated in the beautiful village of Kingston St Mary. The staff were pleasant, but weren't attentive. 3/4 of us ordered beef and were all given mint sauce and apple sauce. Noone came back for us to ask for some. No explanation that the bowl of soggy veg, in a pool of veg water, was for us all to share. There wasn't really enough for four, but having seen and tasted it, we really didn't want anymore.Apparently, the pub recently has been taken over, which could explain things. But the food was just not up to scratch. Burnt Yorkshire pudding and the one piece of beef on the plate was chewy and tough.This place has so much potential. We visited this time last year and the roast was lovely. We bumped into other friends whilst we were there and they said exactly the same about their food.

Decided on a last minute sunday lunch at the Swan. The pub itself is lovely, nicely decorated and homely and a roaring fire. I gather its literally just changed hands in the last month, so only roast dinners available which suited us. However it was absolutely terrible! One piece of desperately overcooked chewy beef, a flat burned Yorkshire pudding, wet cold veg (and not much of it) and 3 small soggy roast potatoes. One of us commented that it was like a pub roast from 30 years ago and I think that's a fairly good description. A real shame as it's a lovely location- it may be very early days (maybe they dont have a chef as yet?) but how you can serve that to paying customers and think it's ok is rather worrying. It could be really great here- but the food needs working on.

Perfect place for a quiet pint or a tasty meal. Recently renovated inside and out it still has a charming character and cosy feel. A great pub worth the visit.

Passed this pub decided to call in after football. Dogs welcome. Wow what a find. Beautifully decorated and beers and food lovely. Had panini and burger. Beautiful home made coleslaw and burger. Lovely good size portions. Tastes divine. Service great despite only one man at bar. Dealt with all customers in timely manner and still have chat with customers. So welcoming.. Very nicely decorated inside and had a lovely wood burner lit . Sadly lunch was average at the best .We were ordered the pie of the day it came with veg but no potatoes when we asked for them we were told it did not come with potatoes. We had high hopes when we went in the pub but if we went back it would only be for a drink and not food .

We’ve used the Swan for many years and it’s recently reopened following a substantial refurbishment. The decoration and refit have been very tastefully done. Still very Somerset but with a classy contemporary feel. The food and service were excellent on Sunday and made for a highly enjoyable family lunch. We are happy to unreservedly recommend the pub in this lovely setting in the Quantocks.

Good selection of ales etc .Pub has just been tastefully refurbished. Food a bit pricey , 15quid for a Sunday lunch and kids 8 quid .Serving bar very small and narrow, so access to pumps for ales is very limited .The lady owner was very friendly and accommodating. Unlike her husband ,who really needs to lighten up and smile .We are actually, paying for a service ..

Gosh. We had a similar experience as previous review! Hair in one of our meals and owner didn’t show any concern. Food average in quality and service very poor. It may be down to inexperienced staff but good communication skills are a must for running a restaurant and unfortunately they don’t have these!

We keep passing this pub and for once dropped in after shopping on a Monday in Taunton. I had a nice glass of shiraz, the lady behind the bar was friendly. The pub has a wonderful large fireplace at one end, comfortable chairs and nice new décor. It looks like the pub has had a makeover, a full skip in the car park. We look forward to returning and trying the food.

We went for lunch here by chance and lucky to get a table as it is very popular. The food was good and reasonably priced and the staff very attentive. The service was quick in spite of being busy. I recommend it but it would probably be as well to book.

Just a relaxed meeting with a friend over some very well kept beer. Good jolly atmosphere and landlord Les was as attentive to his loyal customers as ever. Good lunch turnout and this is a great example of a "proper" village pub.

My wife and I recently had a date night and settled on the Swan Inn at Kingston St Mary near Taunton. We certainly weren't disappointed, the warm welcome we received when we arrived certainly set the tone for the evening. Our food was beautifully cooked and gorgeous to the taste. I fully recommend this local pub if you love the home cooked approach to pub grub. We do and wasn't let down. Just lovely!

Such tasty food and perfect for a cold day - big portions and a fire. Great to see seasonal specials on the menu too, the beef stew with dumplings and the daily pie were both amazing!

We parked our car here in order to do a local walk, checking with the Landlord that this was ok, and booking a table for lunch later.

We have visited this pub twice as a family and had good home cooked meals both times. The menu has a wide range of options for all tastes.

Been coming here for years - it's a pleasant experience without your kids and the food is pretty good. But tonight, one cloudy beer grudgingly exchanged for a second (more cloudy) one and a family drinks bill that makes you understand why people choose to drink at home. It's a nice pub with a particular niche and a devoted clientele. A warmer welcome would be nice.

In dribs and drabs we all came in to be greeted by Les the landlord , ourselves and others to eat - He took our order in our time as we faffed about - as you do- in choosing . Well worth our time to find those little treats on the menu. A good specials board , with many and wide choices . We stuck to the tried and tested foods, but wow such quality - and presentation superb - the meal was one I could have taken pictures of , something I never do , but would have then showed the value in more than words.
