Hadn’t been able to go for a while as my Husband has been ill so delighted to be able to go back and eat there again. Booked a quiet table as they opened. Food was as always delicious well presented and we could not manage a dessert as full. Would recommend it to anybody . They have an excellent selection of food which is in pleasant surroundings and such good value for money.

Bloody incredible food. Full of flavour and an absolute delight to eat. Reasonably priced as well for a decent amount of food. I would highly recommend eating here. Although we decided to eat in the pub rather than the restaurant (mainly due to us playing a lot of card games)

We were staying in the hotel as it had this Thai restaurant. Very poor service,we were shown to the bar area with a log fire, the Thai Restaurant was not being used that night but we were glad as it looked dark and uninviting! We choose Tempura Veg which was Ok but not good.Chicken Satay which was bland if it wasn't for the chilli sauce not good, as for the Thai fish cakes they were hard and rubbery and not editable. The Jungle curry was watery and bland. And to top it all the red hairer bar member that served put a 10% service charge on the bill, which I read after was only for groups of six! Couldn't be bothered to question the bill after a very disappointing meal. There is certainly no team of chefs out the back, perhaps the one chef who brings you the food!

Very disappointing takeaway this evening after a few better weeks. Very inconsistent. E.g. last week we asked for a very mild Massamam curry - got exactly what we asked for. This week - too spicy and tough beef. Last week a very good Penang curry - this week less sauce and 75% of the duck was inedible fat. Previously we have always had starters with crispy noodles nicely served - this week just 6 small pieces of squid and 5 small chicken wings. Even less prawn crackers this week although what was there is still very good, Maybe a bad week - but we won’t bother again. Far too inconsistent quality - Shame. It used to be good and reliable.

We ordered a takeaway for our Anniversary in 'lockdown' . We chose Set Meal for 2 D - absolutely fantastic. Great mix of flavours and more than generous portion sizes; the delivery time was spot on. We really cannot fault the food nor service and look forward to being able to visit the reaturant in person when we can. Thank you for making our lockdown Anniversary memorable for all the right reasons.

Haven't eaten here for some time. Popped in for lunch which was very average. We had soup and some chips. The chips were tasty, the soup was ok but dull. The accompanying bread was on the menu as chiabatta but served as French . There wasn't a huge choice if you didn't want to eat from the Thai menu. The whole place had an odd atmosphere with the sticky tables that felt as if the varnish had just been removed, and the vases of plastic flowers everywhere. It all looked very 1950s but not in a retro way. It seems a shame because it's a lovely old building which could be buzzing with lunch time diners but there were only us and one other table occupied.

My wife and I happened to have a few hours in the town today and called in for lunch. We both went for the Thai curries and rice dishes which were really tasty, very nice indeed. The young lady behind the bar was very welcoming and friendly and efficient but she did seem to be the only person there doing everything? That said everything was delivered promptly and hot. Very nice indeed washed down with a nice pint of Speckled Hen 👍

My wife and I stopped at the Swan in transit to Poole from the M5 as I had read good reviews and as we were going to rural France I knew that we wouldn't have the opportunity to eat Oriental food until we returned to England. We had the tempura vegetables and salt & pepper squid to start followed by chicken and cashew nuts (for my wife) of which I must make a slight complaint which is that in the menu there was no 'chili icon' suggesting that this meal was not spicy but it was and although my wife can eat slightly spicy food it is her preference to not by choice; I would have complained but she chose not to; that said the meal itself was delicious (I tried it). I had the Red Curry with Pork & pineapple and the coconut rice which was a delightful combination and the flavours were superb. I would certainly dine there again and recommend to anyone who enjoys good Thai food; my wife would choose from the English pub classics were we to visit the Swan again. One of the young waitresses was new and had little knowledge of menu items when we heard other diners ask questions about particular items and I think that better training should be given prior to sending new staff out to interact with the public.

Terrible Sunday carvery! Frozen mixed vegetables, frozen Yorkshire puddings, frozen parsnips, sprouts boiled to within an inch of their lives and terrible tasting cauliflower cheese (probably from a pack). The drinks were very expensive and they had no drinks suitable for younger children. I would avoid the carvery on a Sunday. The restaurant looks run down and is in great need of updating.

We stopped here for lunch on a weekday on our way to Bath. This is a charming town and finding a pub that had Thai food was a treat. The four of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the entrees were made to order as one of our party has a food allergy. The waitress was knowledgeable and service was prompt. It may seem weird ordering Thai food at a pub, but we were pleasantly surprised. You could choose the level of hotness for your seasoning. We have eaten at the Churchill Arms pub in London and they also serve Thai food. We met the owner during our meal and he made certain that everything was satisfactory.

We ended up at the Swan on Sunday for a carvery as the cafe we wanted to go to was booked out. We were the only people there which is always a bad sign and I wish we had not bothered. Two of the family had done a half marathon and wanted a substantial lunch. My elderly mother-in -law and I wanted a very light snack. When we were ordering we asked for 3 vegetarian carverys and clearly said my mother in law and I would share one. The waitress seemed fine about that. The food was dire. To be fair to them it was about 2.30 on a Sunday. The food had obviously been sitting for quite a time. The roast potatoes and parsnips were dried up. The yorkshire puddings were chewy and hard to eat. The vegetables were fairly unappetising although the cauliflower cheese was edible The nut cutlet was quite dry. The leek and cheese bake option was better. When it came to the bill we were charged a surcharge (£7 something) for sharing a meal. I pointed out to the waitress that we had very openly said we were sharing when we were ordering and she should have explained that there would be a surcharge as I wouldn't have bothered eating. The surcharge was removed and we paid and left. I would not go back. On balance the meal was not extortionate (£12.95 pp) but it was food no self respecting kitchen should serve as it was well past its best.

When we arrived the atmosphere was dead, and it was dirty. Management must be absolutely terrible. The waitress we had was absolutely clueless, “we don’t have Pepsi, but we do have that black one?” The drinks took absolutely ages to come out, considering there was only 3 couples in there. When the food finally did arrive, the burger bun was soaked in burger fat and it was dripping on to the plate. Disgusting. Walk 200 yards down the road and there is a lovely restaurant.

Worst experience ever last night and will never return. Only 2 young people desperately trying to run the place. Found table ourselves as no one around and our friends we were meeting already sat there called over to us. After 25 mins we were asked if we would like a menu, we suggested drinks would be nice. Chose set menus, hardly any starters for two people, 2 small salty chicken wings. Only 2 of everything for 2 people and portions were small. 3 people got their disgusting soup, 2 never did and we were told it was not on menu A (it was). Main meal was absolutely disgusting, rice clumped together, watery sweet & sour chicken which after one mouthful couldn’t eat as the chicken tasted of fish! Food tasted liked ready meal food, microwaved, not sure but didn’t feel it taste fresh.

We had a walk around Bradford on Avon and thought we would call in for a drink and decided to stay for food. So pleased we did. The host was a delight he had such a good sense of humour and catered to our every need. I was accompanied by two awkward or should I say fussy eaters who like very plain food and the host did not blink an eye. The food was served as requested. I had the Thai noodle menu (chicken and prawns) and it was outstanding. The portions were just the right amount. My boyfriend and I stayed at the Swan for three nights - it was plenty. The room was small and compact. Due to the age of the property the walls were not straight and there was no ceiling light due to the very low ceiling. This was understandable, but it did mean that the furniture didn't fit and the room was dark all the time as the small window couldn't compensate for the lack of lights. Although the bathroom was on a pump system, we did manage with the lack of water pressure. Unfortunately we had to improvise with washing our hands in shower gel as no soap was provided on the sink. The bed was clean and the facilities were clean but the floor wasn't vacuumed and remains of the previous guest/s were visible. A short stay is fine but any longer would be a challenge.

We had a super welcome from the manager/owner and had a parking space. Our breakfast was good with cheerful service. However. This is one confused hotel. It is super old. Old stonework. Big fireplaces. Flagstone floors etc BUT there is no comfortable seating in the bar , there is no crackling fire and candles and all the old stuff has been replaced by modern paintings and plastic flowers. They are plugging Thai food when the best Thai restaurant in the county lies within 200 yards. Staff friendly and very helpful. Good place to use as a base for exploring. Breakfast was good and as someone had previously mentioned portions on the small side, but good for me as I do tend to over indulge. Had a meal in the evening, very good, large portions so beware. The premise is old so the floors are uneven and the walls are wonky and the plumbing is slow- not an issue. The only downers would be confused identity Thai/english and the rooms could do with some tlc , deep cleaning would be good and some fresh paint wouldn't come amiss but nothing that would stop us coming back. car park is at the rear by the bridge.

To celebrate our 32nd Wedding anniversary, my husband and I booked a room for two nights. As we don't have a car the Hotel's central location was perfect for us. Although our room looked towards the main bridge, the noise levels were really low meaning we could get a couple of good restful sleeps. My husband is a carnivore who is relatively easy to please, but I am a vegetarian with a malt and yeast allergy. This combination often becomes a problem for some establishments, but certainly not here! All the staff could not have been more helpful and understanding which meant I could dine on some fabulous Thai food and had options for breakfast. For his first evening meal, my husband choose the 8oz sirloin steak from the Thai menu (they also provide excellent pub classic meals), he thought is was absolutely fabulous and we will be going to Bradford on Avon again soon so that he can sample another. The hotel let us leave our car (at no charge) in their car park all of the following day whilst we hopped on the train to Bath. Friendly staff, great breakfast which was included in the room rate. On a not so positive note... Feel that the Hotel is struggling with its identity - Traditional cuisine : Thai dining (best to do one thing well). The room was very tired looking with mould on the bathroom sink/shower area tiles ( try HG mould remover/the only thing that works!). Its always a treat to get away for a few days & sure I'm not alone when I say that when paying £135.00 for a room you'd always expect a more luxurious surrounding to the one you have at home & not have to slum it - sorry, just saying!

When I arrived, the Swan seemed to be pleasant enough.I was shown to my room, I was throughly disappointed, I booked the hotel through booking.com and the pictures were quite luxurious, I had just driven for five hours so the blow was softened by the memory of the pictures, a little luxury at the end of the drive. I was greeted by damp, a light nearly hanging out of the ceiling, a kettle that leaked everywhere, no more tea topped up after one nights stay, and the food was of limited choice; even though I paid £75 per night, breakfast was not included!! I had a little boy so this was not ideal. Tom said I could have breakfast for £20 extra for the two mornings, I was so dissatisfied at this and opted out. Food was quite expensive, and I was nearly told I couldn't buy from the child's menu, until there was a change of heart. I was told I had to pay upfront before I had even stayed, I had only been in the door 10minutes, this was because there were previous runners, fair enough but I didn't think I looked like one....! On the plus side, having said all of this, the staff were very kind, trying to calm my tired child down. Packing dinner for me to take upstairs so we did not miss out on dinner. As accommodating as they could be, really didn't want to be dissatisfied but I was. I won't be staying here again, I think I could have got the premiere inn for £20 cheaper and breakfast was included.

Went to the Swan for lunch on Good Friday. We were attracted by the Thai menu as we thought it's a good addition to the town. We had the green curry chicken from the lunch menu, and the roast duck with Chinese 5 spices from the main menu. The roast duck was very nice, the green curry was just average. The amount of rice came with the curry might be too small a portion to most customers I'd imagine. Service was reasonably good. Would go again next time we are at Bradford.

I always take my family here for food over the Easter break but never again. The chicken satay and tempura king prawn came dry without sauce. They messed up the garlic bread order and then had a cheek to take two pieces off my brother-in-law's plate because they had given him too much. The chicken noodle I had was the size of a child's portion. When I complained and asked to speak to the manager I was told he was the chef and working in the kitchen, far too busy to come and sort out my complaint. We were not compensated for the terrible service and when I said I would be writing a review on trip adviser was laughed at by one of the bar staff. I definitely won't be going there ever again!

The Swan Hotel is a quaint place to stay with some of the friendliest staff I have ever encountered. James was incredibly helpful upon our arrival and provided excellent service, both for hotel-related inquiries as well as things to do in the area for our less than 24-hour stay in Bradford-on-Avon. The rooms were very nice, clean, and had wonderful views of the beautiful architecture that surrounds the hotel--including the hotel itself. The complimentary breakfast was superb and includes a guest's choice on a cooked dish! I would highly recommend The Swan Hotel for any length of stay.

Anytime a pub starts serving nontraditional pub food, you're going to have a problem. In this case, they've mixed in Thai food. Our server appeared drunk.

My son and grandchildren treated me to the Sunday Carvery on Mother's Day. I have been to the Swan for drinks before and like the old world feeling inside. The waitress was very attentive and the carvery was plentiful and delicious. There were two or three meats, roast and new boiled potatoes, yorkshire pudding and about five other vegetables to chose from. A selection of pickles were available too. We all enjoyed our meals and three of us had desserts, a fruit crumble and some "frozen Eton Mess" which was a bit like a deconstructed Eton Mess but quite enjoyable. A successful day.

We were looking for lunch on our first ever visit to Bradford on Avon, a lovely old English Mill Town with a church dating back to Saxon times. The Swan Hotel has a car park for patrons, which is a fantastic bonus in this fairly touristy area. The car registration must be given at reception in order to obtain a 'permit' to park. The restaurant was empty, which is always a bad sign at 12.30 on a Saturday, but in all fairness to the Swan Hotel, our fish and chips and Thai noodles with chicken were very pleasant and filled a lunch sized hole easily. The pub is old and faded though, desperately in need of a makeover. The restaurant should be buzzing at lunch time on a weekend. It is a busy tourist town and there is no excuse for an empty restaurant. The service was rather hit and miss. Starting with one poor girl, who was obviously on her first day, a nice young man and the manager. They seemed not to be able to cope with the amount of clientele that they had - us! Oh, sorry, one other couple came in, they had to ask for a menu, ask to be allowed to order and hadn't managed to order before we left. The manager was pleasant and we had a little chat with him, but the pub/restaurant had no ambience and nothing to make us wish to come back another day. There is apparently a cellar bar and regular live music. I can't comment on that, hopefully its nice and pulls in the punters but, sorry, it could/should be a lovely place for lunch and needs a big shake up.

Not knowing the area when I first moved here my parents booked a room here for 3 nights. It was a bad experience, with shoddy rooms. They wouldn't tell me how much they'd paid they were so embarrassed, but I found out and I was horrified. Can't recommend at all.

We stopped here for lunch whilst passing through Bradford, principally as my Thai wife wanted Thai food whereas I just wanted a sandwich. While staff were friendly and we had a good conversation with the Manager, service was extremely slow. We had to wait a good 10 minutes just to get a menu, another 20 to order and then about 45 min for fairly simplistic food. All in all we were there about 2.5 hours - an unnecessary long lunch! What made it more concerning is that there was only about 6 tables taken, I think the restaurant would go into meltdown if it had many more customers!Food was ok, nothing special. Wife commented that Thai food was very salty

A carvery lunch for 40 on a prebooked visit. This reminded me of a school dinner. Portion control was very strict and the portions small, I felt like Oliver! The meat was of a poor quality and cranberry sauce had finished before half of us were served. The alternative dessert was meringue and fruit compote. The fruit was still frozen. The restaurant is close to the front door and cold.I left the venue still hungry

I took my partner here for dinner on our visit to Bradford-on-Avon. It was a Friday night and the place was nearly empty which should have been our first sign. After waiting for a disappointingly long time to be served at the bar we ordered a couple of drinks and the Fisherman's Board. We were served promptly and the staff, when you got their attention, were friendly and helpful. The meal itself seemed fine but at the time we commented on the texture of the salmon, remarking that we thought it may have been previously frozen. I avoided it as salmon isn't typically something I enjoy anyway. My partner did eat it and as a result spent the rest of the evening back in our B&B quite unwell. When I approached the managers of The Swan about this they refused to accept fault and blamed everything but themselves. It may well have been something else eaten that day but we had exactly the same food all day so I'm not convinced. The Swan said they checked their stock and everything was in date, but I personally wouldn't trust it. Disappointing start to our weekend break.

I can't fault the staff, very helpful and welcoming. The food was pricey, tiny nut burger and chips £10 - way way too much for what it was. Breakfast a tidge disqppointing, Eggs Benedict (should have been called Egg Benedict - one egg on half a muffin - but the hollandaise sauce was lovely. I had a single room, and it was very comfortable - super mattress and pillows were comfy. Lots of choice re in-room beverages - excellent. No light in landing (room 5) - you will need the torch light on your phone to navigate the small landing and lock to your door!If this sounds a bit negative, it isn't meant to be - but for £99 for single room with breakfast - a tad pricey.Last thing, coudn't find a single shop within 5-10 minutes of this town centre hotel which sold sandwiches, food etc., most odd.

I think this is the oldest pub in town and sadly the restaurant always seems to be empty. I have been about 5or 6 times but it is always empty whereas places opposite are full. The restaurant seems to lack atmosphere, maybe because it lacks customers, and the staff are not very knowledgeable about what is on the menu. I can't say what the food is like as each time we've been we have left as there isn't nobody else in the restaurant. I have used the bar a few times but the staff take forever, especially when using the till. Such a shame as it should be the heart of the town.

Five years ago we "took over" The Swan and used it as the base for our daughters wedding and were reasonably satisfied so when we wanted B&B a couple of weeks ago we approached the experience positively. It was a busy weekend in Bradford and we were booking late so we took a room for the first night which was described over the phone as "a little cramped" Room 14 - it was awful - virtually a box room into which they had squeezed the most basic bathroom facilities - windows that opened onto the busy main road and as the weather was warm they had to be open. On the second night we were moved to a better room but still paid £100 for the room 14 experience. The Breakfast was really unimpressive apart from the black pudding which was good but the rest was ordinary and the mushrooms and tomato poor. The self-help toaster took an age and the jars of homemade jam and marmalade, instead of being a treat, were so old they had almost turned to sugar. The fruit salad was obviously out of a tin and looked very tired. The owner/manager was charming and helpful, giving tips and advice to foreign visitors. The other staff were willing but young and inexperienced. The general atmosphere was friendly but the overall feeling was one of an old, prestigious hotel that had seen better days and was desperately in need of some TLC and simple attention to detail. The town is great - the position of the hotel within the town is great, by the river and the beautiful bridge but it could be so much better

Some parts of the building feel a little down at heel but it's a big place with decent beer and food (although why pubs offer Thai is a bit of a mystery), helpful staff and a live music venue which is always a plus. This is a beautiful town on the Avon and this place couldn't be more central. Btw, reading previous reviews, anyone leaving without paying for drinks they've had on the flimsiest of excuses is extracting the Michael

Many of our extended family are Thais - indeed, our daughter-in-law ran a Thai restaurant in Hua Hin, Thailand - so, when my husband ordered a Thai meal with hake, he was expecting something special. Disappointingly, the fish turned out not to be even a close relative of hake, but so cunningly disguised with an over-zealous amount of chilli it was hard to tell. My smoked salmon salad was totally underwhelming. The lettuce (unimaginative leaves) was covered in slime, presumably from leaves that had been 'past their use-by date'. The garlic ciabatta was very nice and helped to fill my empty tummy and I took the smoked salmon home to make it into a quiche. Our waitress was very nice indeed and I'm sorry we had to complain, but she was to be commended on her tactful attitude. Such a shame to find one of our local eateries doesn't rise to the challenge - and will someone do something about tubby workmen using the ladies toilets, please!!!!

A traditional style Indian restaurant – i.e. no frills and candelabras, which is usually a good sign that the food is going to be good and I was not disappointed. I do not know why this restaurant is not busier than it is. There are a number of places to eat in Cricklade, however the food and service here outshines them all. The staff were very attentive and our order was taken promptly with food arriving in a timely manner. I could not fault any of the dishes we had and will definitely return sooner rather than later.

It's the first time in years I've visited an Indian restaurant. We didn't need to book and were instantly seated. The dishes are reasonably priced and there is a good choice. The meal came quickly and was very tasty. The staff were friendly, but as I've found in many Indian restaurants, we did feel a little pushed and watched. It was a nice meal, but not as casual and relaxed as I was hoping.
