Great experience. Staff were super lovely and food was great. Chicken was a bit over cooked and tough but otherwise was tasty. Steven approved.

Arrived early evening for a meal warm and friendly welcome. Food service was excellent and the food was delicious. Great prices too, we live in Bath and the restaurants there are too fancy and expensive would rather visit here for the more personal experience and great food.

We were recommended the restaurant by the staff at a local bar , the food was excellent. I had tandoori chicken starter , medium curry and a bit of ice cream to finish. The son of the owner came out to chat with us and made the visit complete. Would recommend the restaurant without question

It's the first time in years I've visited an Indian restaurant. We didn't need to book and were instantly seated. The dishes are reasonably priced and there is a good choice. The meal came quickly and was very tasty. The staff were friendly, but as I've found in many Indian restaurants, we did feel a little pushed and watched. It was a nice meal, but not as casual and relaxed as I was hoping.

I have been to many different Indian restaurants to eat in, as well as takeaway, and this little Gem is by far one of the best if not my favourite. The Taj Mahal serves Exceptionally tasty curries with a friendly and prompt service, whether your eating in or having a take out. Highly recommend. Excellent value too😀 ATTENTION: 5 Years on and still EXCELLENT😋 This is definitely my favourite Indian restaurant out of my top 10 now! I had my work leavers do with 14 of us in total. Of course I booked in advance. Their service and hospitality was friendly and professional with seriously tasty curry served all round! We all had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed are food. I was too busy talking to take a decent photo of the mixed grill which doesn't do it justice of how exceptional it was! By far the best mixed grill I've ever had 🤤 Thank you again to all at The Taj Mahal 🙏

Not sure why this does not come up when you type the name and town? But as we were passing through we stopped here for dinner. Only one complaint was with the samosas that could have been out of a bag frozen. They were small and did not appear home made. Everything else was great and delicious. Service was fast friendly and 5*

Delicious food and such lovely staff! Was just passing through Chippenham for the first time, and the airbnb owner highly recommend this restaurant and it certainly did not disappoint! Definitely give this place a try.

Stumbled across this en route to a pub. What a wonderful treat. Simple elegance in the dining room. Professional wait staff were helpful and friendly. We asked for suggestions and were rewarded with a dish called Roshni, a ginger, garlic and coriander dish (with chicken) of the chef’s own creation. OMG. The side dishes— naan, Aloo Gobi and curried vegetables — were tasty but the Roshni was incredible. You won’t find it anywhere else so explore and ask for advice. Too bad we live in Canada or we would keep coming back. Thank you.

This has become our favourite Indian restaurant in Chippenham. We tried three visits before leaving a review to make sure the food was consistent. Unlike some other restaurants, the portion sizes are very generous with lots of meat , not like some nowadays where its all sauce and no meat . Plus the vegetable dishes are packed with lots of different varieties of veg . Last night we had chicken bhunas which were lovely , butter chicken , a really nice veg rice and special fried rice. The aubergine bhaji was very tasty and the onion bhajis were some of the best we've had , not oily at all. Very nice meal and we will keep coming back here from now on. I can recommend the Taj , if you like good quality food and decent sized portions .

Ate here 5th March. Best curry in ages! Lovely restaurant charming friendly staff and massive portions of delightful food. Just don’t order too much at the start of the meal is my advice. I’ve never had to leave food on my plate before but I was beaten last night!

We arrived and we hadn't booked, but the staff were able to accommodate us at the front despite being fully booked in the main restaurant. Their service was excellent and the food was delicious too! The restaurant had a great atmosphere and I would definitely recommend! We will visit again when we are next in town!

Had a lovely time at the Taj Mahal. Food was very nice, service really attentive and they thought our first round of drinks were too slow out so they gave us more complimentary drinks. A really nice touch that wasn’t necessary but appreciated. Will definitely be going back.

The staff were attentive. The starters were average, the onion bhajis were dough like and the samosas were just OK but the poppadoms were good. The mains were tasty with lots of vegetarian options on the menu. We enjoyed the main course and had a nice night but were a little rushed by the fast service. They have Indian beers on-daft which is lovely and we had a pleasant meal and were looked after Thank you.

First visit last night and best indian food I've had for a long time very friendly service and big portions my curry was so tasty and my chicken chat wrap starter was amazing will be back soon to celebrate my birthday.

Visited Chippenham and ate at the Taj Mahal and there is absolutely no regrets! The portions were huge, the food was delicious and the service was great. It’s a shame we don’t live local because this food was incredible. Well worthy of our vote for the best curry house 👌🏻

A rating of 4.5 is just wrong. The food was below average - chicken overcooked, sauces dull and even the accompaniments were poor. Rude staff, and then 2/3 of us got food poisoning. Avoid.

Fantastic atmosphere, friendly and very interactive staff and the food is just delicious! Though perfectly small, this gem of a restaurant has a huge personality that lures me and the family, again and again. I can't wait for our next visit.

This is the second visit this year. Always great service at the Taj Mahal. The food is also very good. Definitely recommend the restaurant.

Ate at Taj Mahal for three days running at the end of May while at the Folk Festival. The place was clean, the staff were very welcoming and efficient and the food was exceptional. I would particularly recommend the fish dishes, of which I had two, finding the Dhansak one of the best I have ever eaten, using China dhal rather than split lentils, thus adding great body and flavour which complemented the fresh water fish perfectly. It will be an easy first choice when I am next in Chippenham.

Excellent food in an old fashioned indian restaurant, nothing fancy here butfood is very good and service is good. Prices average for area, lamb tikka was of a very good standard, tender and juicy when it can be tough as old boots if not done right, recommended starter.

The worst experience we had ever with any restaurants, the staff was very very rude and insulted and passed racist comments considering we were tourist and would not be back but i would never recommend this restaurant to anyone I would appreciate if any action is taken on them. The food was also below average and bland and not at all indian taste.

Guys beware, by seeing their rating only we visited but it’s all a scam. Their food below average, staffs behaviour is extremely rude, not ready to take any feedback infact they try fullest to insult you as if they were already prepared to do so deliberately, not sure which nationality these guys are from but certainly not from Indian background. They made racist comments as well.

New favorite in Chippenham! Tandoori mixed grill (taste explosion) with masala sauce (fruity kick), peshwari naan (crispy base, soft fluffy morish) and a kingfisher. We'll be back

Honestly really disappointed, lacking flavour and spice: unexpectedly very bland I got the Lamb Biryani with the vegetable dish included. Additionally, the saag paneer and keema rice

Best Madras ever so tender not too hot just right and a great service they kindly brought my food out the front for me when I went to collect it as I had my bike with me even tied the bag for me as I opened my rucksack and placed it in for me highly recommend this great restaurant thank you very much 🙂

Consistently excellent food, last night was surprisingly busy but the FoH staff took us unannounced in their stride and we were seated after only a short wait while they made room for us.

Best madras I've had in 6 yrs since i moved down from Wakefield West Yorkshire. Great service, and very friendly staff. This is our go to place for eat in and take away.

2nd time visiting when we are staying in the area. Food was incredible, short waiting times and brilliant service from staff. Couldn't fault at all. (We went at 6:30pm on a Friday and it was fairly busy but this didn't impact service at all!)

Had my first delivery today, lamb Rogan, with lots of large chunks of lamb, and their special fried rice is lovely. I will be using them again, and I would recommend you to try them.

Ordered a takeaway. Almost two hours late, its New year's eve which I can understand its busy but the phone line was 'busy' and currently still waiting and the restaurant closes in 10 minutes. Awful. Disappointing is an understatement especially for the price your paying.

Visiting Chippenham for 1 night and decided we fancied a curry. We defintiely chose the right place! Firstly the service was exemplary. Polite and helpful waiters and our food was with us within minutes. The food itself was some of the best I've ever had! I had the onion bahjis to start, we asked for extra side plates and they came laden with salad and a lemon slice (that extra thought goes a long way). For my main a delicious lamb jalfrezi, just enough kick to leave me satisfied without blowing my head off. My family had a mixture of chicken tikka (served sizzling on a hot plate) and a lovely vegetable mossala, I tried some of each and they were amazing. Can't wait to come here again next time I am passing Chippenham! Thank you guys, 4 satisfied, very happy customers here!

Ordered food for delivery at 5.15 last night and was told it would be between 6.30-6.45. nothing by 6.50 So called and was told driver stuck in traffic would be 10 mins . Fine no issues; then phoned 4 more times after that and was told food had left and should be a few minutes last conversation was with the manager who kept on trying to get me off the phone telling me I was wasting his time as I kept on calling asking where my food was after been told for an hour it had just left the kitchen ! Went down and for a cash refund but whilst doing that delivery driver called to.say he was outside my house ! Absolutely ridiculous; if you had told the truth at the start I would have been happy to.drive down and collect but the fact you kept on lying to me saying it was.on it's way and then telling me I was wasting your time by calling. Obver 2.5 hrs later ended.up getting food elsewhere.

Had to wait a fair while for food. Was ok food, aubergine was a bit greasy and not super tasty, biryani was good though.

My husband, brother in law and sister in law had a takeaway from here. All fell ill afterwards. Sister in law ended up in hospital on a drip. Thought to be food poisoning from rice. Will never order from here again.
