Narrowly missing the 1 star, terrible room, "deluxe four post bedroom" £139 staff good but VERY understaffed protracting the check in, we had to leave and come back! Management obviously don't care a few hundred pounds could sort the room! we stayed 26/10/24 for a family "do" and meal at the hotel. Staff tried very hard, even receptionist only been there a couple weeks excellent but overall would try the Penguin next time. Amazing location - with a carpark, but the basics at any hotel is to make the rooms excellent. this Hotel just relies on the location. just not good enough, sorry to say.

BEWARE OF ROOM 6! (Or, I assume, any other ground floor room in the older section of the building). The floorboards above you creak so loudly that it's absolutely impossible to get a night's sleep. And honestly, I'm not a fussy sleeper. We are talking LOUD. When we informed the receptionist about it, they just said that it's an old building, but it's very clearly not fit for the purpose of being a hotel. Giving 3 stars because we were then transferred to a much nicer room in the more recently updated section of the hotel, which was fine, though the bed was much too short for my big long legs! Other than that the staff were really lovely and breakfast was very nice.

Rooms are newly refurbished to a very high standard, a bit noisy with the bar below our room, come 23.00 goes quiet. No breakfast.

Great place to stay in Wells. Great food and staff. It actually has a car park as well.

Don't stay in room 6! The hotel itself is very nice, the staff are lovely, and the room itself was nicely appointed, but we got very little sleep due to the noise from people in the room above moving around on the squeakiest floor I've ever heard. Whoever it was clomped about till nearly midnight, got up several times through the night, then got up again a little before 6am. The shear amount of walking about they did was puzzling. The footfalls weren't too bad and their voices were quite muted, but the squeak of one floorboard against another was so loud that you had to really raise your voice to be heard over it.

Had probably the best meal out I have ever had here. Would very much recommend their Fillet and Feather blade of beef, along with crème brûlée! Will 100% return next time I am down that way

We stayed for a local wedding. The staff were excellent friendly and well trained. Food good, rooms comfortable. We had a car problem and they sorted out issues we had with no problem...

The Swan Hotel Wells is so gorgeous for a special occasion. The dining hall is so indulgent and the food was fantastic. My daughter had an outstanding medium rare steak with amazing tasty, crunchy, fluffy chips and I had delicious chicken with a divine accompaniment of broccoli, great beans and olives. Raspberry sorbet and mousse to follow was fantastic, whilst Sam sampled the cheese board. Highly recommend a meal out for those that enjoy something special

Excellent Sunday lunch, thoroughly recommend. Between five of us two had turkey, two had roast beef and I had the pork. All of us cleared our plates and all agreed it was all cooked to perfection. Staff were all polite and attentive as well. Will definitely visit again when in the area.

The roast dinners are beautiful, the best roast beef I have ever tasted with perfectly season veg, crispy roast potatoes, homemade stuffing and crispy Yorkshire pudding! The brasserie has quickly become my favourite roast dinner spot in Shepton.
