The Swan & Cygnet in East Riding of Yorkshire

Nice pub in village but I gave a 4 as we had to ask for our drinks twice. It was a bit busy when we girst arrived but then 3 staff cleaning tables (which were then not occupied) they could see we had no drinks and when they took our plates away, they never asked if we wanted dessert....I know we could have said but it's quite usual for waitresses to ask...and by the time we'd asked fir bill the pub was virtually empty

Went in for a quick lunchtime drink. A very attractive interior. Staff very friendly.

Food and service were pretty good. The kids portions and sides were HUGE. Staff really friendly and, for the most part the atmosphere was great. Parking was quite difficult though. It looked like someone had intentionally blocked half the car park (not sure why) and the rest of the parking was very tight.

The food was delicious once again, A nice clean and cosy place to dine, Thanks!

First and most important, the food is lovely. The fish and chips are massive, in fact I couldn't finish the meal, and the price for a gastro pub is very reasonable, However I do know a pub near London and a pub near Hull selling the same meal prices may differ and I am used to the ones near London. It's situated in a nice location and the car park is nice. the service during the meal was ok, my only gripe and it's only a small one was at the end, I had to walk to the bar to pay and felt like I was interrupted a teenage get together behind the bar. Not even a thank you or goodbye. again this is a small issue and something that I look for, other people may be ok with this. I would recommend the pub if you are looking for a good heaty meal.

Lovely pub with a pond nearby. Good selection of wines and beers. Guinness was spot on. Didn’t eat this time but would come again to eat

We just had sandwiches but they were delicious and a very comfortable atmosphere

Went to this establishment for a wake so don’t read too much into it We got there as the pub was opening and therefore it was only members of our party (about 12) in the place It is a clean and tidy place , a situation which continued throughout the pub We had asked for a small buffet for about 20 people which was a woeful affair which elicited a complaint by the organisers to the establishment. I was amazed to be told the cost of the sandwiches It has a large car park

Worst pub meal I have ever had! Avoid like the plague

The Swan & Cygnet is a modern community pub. There is a wide range of beers, lagers, and cider, including two hand pulled cask conditioned real ales. Both were in excellent condition when we called in. The staff and locals are very friendly and welcoming. It is a lovely cosy pub with a front garden and outside seating with views over the village pond. We did not have anything to eat, but a couple of locals told us the food was very good. It's a nice pub that is dog friendly.

After eating here last Friday 15th December I was under whelmed by my cheese and tomato sandwich with chips, £7.95,awful presentation and just plonked on a plate with cheap white bread and no garnish, my friend and I come here every Christmas and usually full with great atmosphere, the empty pub goes to show how down hill this place has become and I won’t be returning.

Lovely meal , lovely surroundings, sadly the staff were a little over enthusiastic when asking " was everything ok" or " do you need anything else " which they did several times , even though we had booked a table , we thought maybe a" walk in" was waiting for our table as we felt extremely hurried particularly when dessert dishes were being cleared whilst one of us were still eating , and when we got up to leave every waitress pounced on the table to clear away before we had our coats on , all in all a lovely meal , but not very relaxed

Booked a table for Sunday Lunch. Wasn't disappointed. Massive Yorkshire Pudding with lovely roasters, veg and pork Loin. Very nice. All staff friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Thank you. We'll worth a visit.

Acoustics in the restaurant loud from tables right at the other end. Probably needs more soft fabrics to cut out the hollowness.

Food amazing, I believe there were new waitresses which I cannot fault them for not knowing everything with the pub however I do believe there should've been a front of house manager or someone looking over them all as we were waiting for service for a long time between dishes and overall the waitresses were very nice however the service could have been a lot better if there had been help with staff who were more trained

It’s an alright pub and the food was nice. Waitress staff seems nice and asked all the right questions. They were happy to swap some food items around which is a bonus. Where they can improve: - children’s menu that you can colour on would be nice - when you ask for extra gravy you get more than 1 little boat between four people

8 adults went for Sunday dinner which was lovely !!we all chose puddings but unfortunately 6 of us were out of luck !!no cheesecake or sticky toffee pudding !!

Rude/unfriendly bar maid greeted us on our arrival today. Not the 1st time I've experienced her rudeness, in fact this is the 3rd time. Each time I go into The Swan on a dinner, there is no one in and I still feel like we are an inconvenience to her. There's no hi, please or thank you from her. We got made to feel like even laughing wasn't allowed!! She took a booking over the phone and when she put the phone down, she mutterd stupid.....very unprofessional. I don't understand how she can be on front of house when she can't even greet the punters with a smile!

The food was both plentiful and of excellent quality, recommend to anyone. The staff were polite and attentive. Definitely eat here again.

The most unpleasant and unkind Pub management and Landlord, my daughter and her friend called in after having been in before and to ask for two cokes after having a game of tennis opposite, they where told we cant serve you, they tried to explain they just wanted a soft drink, I don't care we aren't serving you! They left embarrassed after trying to explaining they had been in the pub before and had been served softdrinks, fair enough but harsh... They went to the corner shop to get a drink and sat on a bench at the end of the large grass area that is surrounded by a public footpath, the landlord came out and very unpleasantly told them "we've just told you you cant come in this pub, who do you think you are, get off our bench and take your drinks" This pub and landlord have an increasingly unpleasant reputation in what should be a lovely local, kind friendly local community pub, we have heard several of our friends say that their son and daughters who have worked there get fingers clicked at them and spoken to awfully, we and all our friends will certainly not be going back. How people can be so unkind is beyond me to two polite 15-year old girls... Come on guys, lighten up, at least be pleasant and kind!

We are on holiday staying at a local luxury lodge complex. This place was recommended. It did not fail to impress. The service was great the food was delicious and the portions were a great size. Even the toilets were clean with air wicks diffusing.

Dropped in for a pint (Thursday afternoon) about 4 punters in, so very quiet. Had to take out a mortgage 1 pint of Stella £5:00.

Lovely friendly local pub serving high quality food. The specials menu changes often and provides some nice seasonal changes.

5 stars all round! The staff are helpful, knowledgeable and attentive, there is a large selection of both alcoholic and soft drinks to choose from and the beer garden is always kept immaculate. The menu and specials always look exciting too! Would 100% recommend.

Lovely little pub! Lovely staff 2.. Bit disappointed that I had to spend more because they dont advertise a minimum spend when paying on card so had no choice... theres no free WiFi like Marstons advertised...

We came in swan and cygnet today first time. We was disappointed what food was on offer was OK. Menu was limited I asked for bbq ribs waitress said we haven't got any I had fish and chips they was nice. Brother in law asked for burger didn't have any he had chicken burger left most of it. Wife and sister had lamb it was ok but cold dinner OK

Called last minute for a Sunday dinner, the gent that took the booking was brilliant. Very warm and friendly. The atmosphere in the place is great. Very family friendly and staff always attentive and polite. The Sunday dinner we had beef. Cooked perfect! Yorkshire puddings bigger than your head. The food was delicious thank you to the chef and the awesome staff. Thank you for a great Sunday and fitting us in on short notice, can not wait to come back !!

Lovely helpful staff - nothing was too much trouble. Very generous buffet and a great selection of food. Catered for vegan requirements too.

Food was excellent, but service much to be desired. Took over 30 mins to get our first drink and all food bar 1 (the eldest child) came out together. Shame as wasn't busy

Food was ok but veg very undercooked, also a place as busy as this and the recent weather conditions a few free standing fans would help ,the temperature made the experience uncomfortable

The friendly staff got us a table during a busy Sunday afternoon without having to book a table. The fish and chips were good and we were well looked after, the only negative was the waiting time for the meals. However if you want good honest pub grub at a reasonable price give this place a try.

Sunday lunch today was delicious, and our family from North Yorkshire said it was the best they had eaten, so a success all round, well done Swan and Cygnet.

Had Sunday Lunch there. Nothing wrong with it, just nothing to write home about. It wasn't busy, there's probably a reason for that.

Went for a light lunch and had the ham and cheese toastie with the triple cooked chips, delicious 😋

Beautiful surroundings and a friendly service. We sat outside in the sun looking out to the pond.

A very nice and cozy pub. Waiters were typical with us but friendly enough. Food was excellent and tasted great, although quite limited options regarding the mains. Pub quiz at the end was fun, but took too long to finish and left mid way.

Delicious lunch. Fish big, thick and crispy. Chips perfect. Sweet potato, chickpea and spinach curry delicious, not hot, tasty. Portion sizes should fill snyone we couldn't finish ours. Will be back definitely recommend a visit.

Does a good pint of Guinness and the buffet food is rather good too. Coped well with a very busy lunchtime session.

Went here today about 2pm. Lovely village and the pub was so welcoming. All the staff were very attentive and so polite . We had a drink and a lovely tasty Sunday lunch each which we had in the pub area. The menu is really good for choice. The lovely staff that served us are a credit to your pub. We were very happy with everything. Thank you.

Outdoor looking a bit tired could do with a makeover. Still popular though and drinks fairly priced.

Disappointed with the salmon salad.....where was the salmon? Pile of green with tiny flakes of salmon it hardly looked like there was any salmon. Not good value for the money.

Nice quiet village pub which also offers good quality dining with a nice traditional decor and with a modern flare in the dining area.

Unfortunately no vegan options on the menu at all, but they did make something for me specially, which was amazing, I’d definitely go back if it was added to the menu!

We’ve just had a Lamb roast takeaway as were in lockdown we thought we would give it a go & it certainly didn’t disappoint. We booked it for 4.30 collection & it was delivered to our car on time & put in the boot so very Covid secure. There was plenty of tasty & tender lamb with lots of fresh well cooked vegetables & a perfectly risen light Yorkshire pudding & plenty of gravy in a separate container. We thoroughly enjoyed it & would certainly recommend it & have another one !! We all need to support our local businesses at this time in order that it will still be there after this strange time.

Stopped here for lunch after a walk on the wold today and was not disappointed! Had the lamb Sunday roast followed by apple crumble, both were delicious. Would definitely recommend and will be returning.
