Lovely family meal. The squid starter was perfect and the roast was delicious. Service was very good and staff (manager I think) allowed time to talk to us about the food that was on the menu. We did feel that the wine was slightly overpriced however it did compliment the meal. Thank you

We made a last minute decision to book a table here last Saturday night and it completely turned our week on its head. After a stressful week, we were feeling tired and grumpy and decided to treat ourselves and see what The Swan had to offer having driven past numerous times. As soon as we walked in it felt warm and welcoming with festive decorations and fire alit. It wasn’t enough to defrost our mood though so we ordered our food. My husband had the burger, our little one fish and chips and I had the mushroom risotto with a salad. On paper this sounds like bog standard 101 pub fair, but no! When it arrived it was clear the kitchen knew how to cook. Everything tasted absolutely delicious and everything was cooked to perfection. Even the little side salad was something to behold and when our little one could finish his fish and chips, my husband and I delighted in finishing it off. The fish was the best we’ve ever eaten! I’ve been so reluctant to write this review as it may mean that last minute decisions that lead us to places that completely change everything are harder to find, but this place deserves a huge clap for the great staff and great food! Thanks guys, we had a great fun! We left feeling happy and festive (at last), you’ve helped make this Christmas a great one!

I visited the Swan whilst on business. We were fortunate to drive past and I looked for the restaurant on tripadvisor. Seeing it had good reviews we decided to have dinner. We were not disappointed! It was a quiet night but we were served by a helpful bar manager and the food was fantastic. We both had the fish and chips and it was one of the best I’ve had, the mustard mayonnaise was a lovely addition. I wish this bar/restaurant was near where I live as I would be there all the time. A nice surprise!

A lovely new menu and another excellent dinner on Saturday evening. The front of house team are friendly and helpful, the chef is outstanding and the wine list is quality, just like the food. It's great we can finally have a wonderful dining experience without having to leave the village.

We were booked in for Sunday lunch, about 2 hours before the reservation I received a call from the pub saying they were doing a BBQ and not Sunday lunch and would we still be coming, I confirmed we would. On arrival we were taken to our table and told it would be table service. After 15 mins I went up to the bar and ordered drinks. 40 minutes after arrival and still no service I went to the bar and asked about our food and was told they had forgotten about us. We weren’t offered any other explanation not even if we wanted to order then. It wasn’t particularly busy during the time waiting.I appreciate they were young people in charge and probably not really interested in customer service but definitely will not return.

This pub is literally everything a village pub needs to be. Warm, friendly, relaxed, amazing food, great wines and wonderful owners. We have supported this pub since it reopened and it just keeps getting better and better. They truly care about the success of this place and the food and service they are delivering. We went to the tapas night tonight and I can honestly say its some Of the best food I have eaten in a long while. You will Not be disappointed!! Thankyou so much Tom and the team!

We returned to The Swan with friends and had a beautiful Sunday afternoon in the sunshine. The drinks list is very impressive and the wine selection varied. We enjoyed a cold bottle of white Sauvignon blanc which was delicious. It was served in plenty of ice and the staff kept bringing more to make sure it remained cold on such a hot day. The staff couldn’t do enough brining plenty of water (even for the dog) and making sure we were happy with everything. I had the veggie burger which was outstanding and very tasty. The children’s menu is great with lots of options and fresh veg. The highlight was definitely the ice cream! A lovely pub with the best sized beer garden around and lovely deckchairs were available to lounge in. Highly recommend for food, drinks, atmosphere and staff.

We booked with friends for a post-lockdown reunion. We were welcomed by the manager, Tom, and shown to our table as we waited for our friends to arrive. We were offered pre-dinner drinks from an impressive selection of spirits, beers and ciders, and given plenty of time to make our menu choices in between catching up. The food was exemplary, chosen from a reasonable size menu that had something for all tastes. I can particularly recommend the pork and black pudding scotch egg starter and Moorish pulled lamb salad for main. Having been the first diners to arrive at 6pm, we left The Swan just under 3 hours later, feeling satisfied and happy. Our two courses, drinks and bottle of wine enjoyed over conversation with no pressure felt from staff to rush or move on as more guests arrived. Social distancing was maintained throughout, all staff wore masks, and sanitiser and the Track n Trace code were readily available. In the age of "new normal" we couldn't ask for more, and will most definitely be back.

As soon as the Swan opened for out door dining, we were there! I am delighted to say it is as good as ever. It is the same very talented chef so the food is excellent - the Sunday lunch of roast beef was perfection. The front of house staff are brilliant - perfect mix of professionalism and friendliness. The waiter still remembered my husband likes extra sugar with his cappuccino! The garden area is looking lovely and the addition of branded umbrellas and deck chairs look really good. A real asset to Stewkley but also well worth a drive from further afield. I hope this talented team have all the success they deserve.

We often go out for Sunday lunch and have many good pubs/restaurants near us. The Swan has changed management so we decided to try it and so pleased we did. It is now my destination restaurant! The roast was perfect - tender beef and a lovely selection of fresh vegetables. The chef is excellent as must be the suppliers. The staff were welcoming and attentive. We have been twice and they even remembered my husband likes extra sugar with his Cappuccino. We will be trying it very soon for a weekday lunch and for an evening meal. Great to have The Swan reopening in the village after its closure, especially to give us locals a choice. Visited last week for a drink and glad to see a good choice of cask ales; Timothy Taylor, London Pride and a couple of the local beers too, Triple Goat and Featherstone, so had to give them a try! The new landlady Sonia, is a breath of fresh air and was very welcoming and is a bubbly character. Food wasn’t available, as Sonia said the kitchens are being refurbished, so will definitely have to try it out once done! Sat in the garden area as it’s really attractive and the the weather was good and also great for families too.

Very welcoming couple now at the helm and good support staff. The place has been spruced up ahead of fuller planned refurbishment and now has fantastic toilet facilities! Wine list and real ales now perfect with wide choice and good quality. Garden as lovely as ever. Booked for dinner once food starts 1st October and hoping for similar to Red Lion Gt Brickhill, as under the same family. Reasons to be very optimistic that the Swan will finally fulfill its massive potential.

Arrived with a walking group for lunch - all meals pre ordered. Whilst the food, on the whole, was very good, there needs to be better communication between the server and guests. The dishes were not clearly announced and those without food, who were hungrily awaiting it, concentrated their attention towards the server which seemed only to increase her stage fright. Main meals and side dishes arrived haphazardly; some getting more side dishes than they should and some less. The server had little idea of what belonged to which, to whom, and where to serve it. It was chaotic for a time but eventually we swapped between ourselves and all became well. Lovely garden.

Stopped in The Swan, Stewkley for lunch, never ate there before, absolutely brilliant village pub. Very welcoming, wide menu choice competitively priced. My wife had a cheese omelette which barely fitted on the plate and came with a generous side salad and chips. Myself, I had a full English breakfast (rare treat for me), it came with 2 sausages, 2 eggs, 2 bacon rashers, 2 hash browns, black pudding, baked beans, tomato and two very generous rounds of thick cut toast - a lovely bread. The omelette was £6 and the late breakfast £8, together with 2 halves of Thatcher's and a pint of Atlantic Pale Ale came in at less than £22.Will definitely recommend and will certainly go back.

Went with a party of ten, including 2 youngsters and dog. The host could not have made us more welcome. Food is freshly prepared - it is not a fast food outlet. Good menu choice - even better in the evening. Everyone was delighted with their respective food choice. I had a lamb with mint sauce pie, prepared by the chef. Served with mash and a good selection of vedge - cabbage, peas and carrots. A member of the group had not arrived because they had broken down. They were en route home to South Wales and had a baby in the car. We requested a sandwich meal to take out. A sandwich goody bag was produced which was a lovely touch and well received. Chef came out to check we were enjoying our meals. After order, he came to ask if we'd like the children's meals preparing first, which was also thoughtful. A super village pub which comes highly recommended.

Went here when visiting Stewkley and was not expecting too much - How wrong. Firstly the food was absolutely first class with a choice of many dishes. The service was also excellent being informed of when we should expect the food and when it came (in my case Game Casserole) it would put a lot of top class restaurants to shame. The casserole was accompanied by 'freshly' cooked vegetables of just as high standard. All of this for an unbelievable price. Looking forward to my next visit - Well done to the owner and everyone who works their.

Wanted to see the Pankhurst home in Ivy Lane and the old churches mentioned in the Aylesbury magazine then went into the Swan for a 'Costa' coffee and a light snack. I asked for a cappuccino coffee. Oh dear there was no frothy hot milk or cream on top let alone any cinnamon to top it off. What I got instead was a rather awful smelly milky coffee which could have been any coffee with milk. It was undrinkable (there was a sign outside saying they served Costa coffee so I felt safe asking for a cappuccino). I also asked for a single portion of chips (as they had no other snacks other than a bag of chips) but, again, they were fried in oil/lard that had an awful smell. I, again, took them back and asked for a bag of chips as a replacement. Instead of returning the money that I paid in advance for the coffee and fried chips I had in fact paid in advance for a cup of hot water and a bag of chips. Very disappointed.

First visit we've made since the new menu came into force but certainly won't be the last. Two of us had the beer battered cod which came with delicious chips and a good amount of tartare sauce, one had the veggie korma and the other the chicken and leek pie. We all thoroughly enjoyed it if a little full after we were temped by the delicious sweet menu also! If there was one criticism we felt the Eton mess would have benefited from a bit more fruit and meringue but nonetheless I wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Swan to anyone

I so wanted this restaurant to be a hidden gem. Mixed feelings about this one. I don't eat meat so ordered monkfish with tomato and capers. I got what looked like monkfish or maybe chicken wrapped in bacon on roasted veg with sautéed potatoes. It was replaced with what I ordered when I complained and we did not have to pay for that plate. We were also given complementary Limoncello shots at the end and they were very apologetic. I think they should have advised us to order sides with our main course- my son ordered cannelloni which was 2 pasta tubes on the plate! Not even a little salad garnish. 3 of us had the starter special of octopus with mashed potato, but this would have been better on a bed of salad as it's quite filling with potato. The octopus was beautifully cooked. I would give this restaurant another go though as I love Italian food. Lots of good ideas on the menu but it just needs some finesse.
