We visited twice on our week's holiday. Both times the food was excellent and piping hot . Service was lovely and prompt. The roast pork dinner was beautiful . We loved the decor in the garden room . Would definitely visit again x

This Pub was recommended by a friend and was a lovely place for a family celebration. We had to choose from the set menu but there was enough choice for everyone to choose including the kids. Either two or three courses. The atmosphere was lovely and the setting was wonderful. The staff were very friendly and the service was good. We actually sat in the dog friendly section, so I intend to go back as didn’t know it was dog friendly, but there were a couple that came in after we had already sat down. I think I saw a sign by the bar saying there was a Dog Menu as will. The outside space on a sunny day (which it was) was fab, enough room not to feel everyone was on top of one another. There was a little courtyard area before a grassed area for drinks and then ofcourse further tables around the car park near the river. I had the roast turkey dinner and it was the best I’ve had in a long while, the Yorkshire was massive and my favourite and the gravy was wonderful. I think everyone enjoyed themselves with whatever they had to eat and drink. Its not cheap for a pub, but for a special occasion or just a lovely meal, I would definitely recommend and go again - next time with the dogs.

What has happened to the Swan! On a previous visit, my husband noticed items on the bill that didn't materialise to the table, therefore they are charging people and not providing what they are being charged for! This happened again today...the dippy drippy burger only had one burger and two is on the description! My meal should have a pot of vegetables and the Sunday roast also should have a pot of vegetables. However only one arrives and we were told it was for two to share! Then the table next to us received the same size pot of veg, that was just for 1 person! Surely this is short changing customers and so unnecessary and unfair. Not sure we will go back anytime soon.

Came here on our first night of holiday, really pleased we chose it. Was shown to our table by a friendly waiter and offered drinks, restaurant was busy so waited a short time for them to arrive. Ordered food and it was served very nicely presented and larger than average portions We chose stuffed mushrooms, calamari, halloumi fries and sticky beef salad, all really good Mains was dippy drippy cheeseburger, cod and chips and mussels, again larger than average portions and all very tasty. We had no room left for desert. Staff were all friendly and efficient. I would say good value for money

Food and service were great. One of the items wasn’t available in the dish I fancied, and they still said they’d make it and just give me something else with it instead. Wasn’t expecting that at all, and am so grateful. Lovely evening including with a young child. They provided a colouring menu and crayons. Waitress was so friendly and attentive despite them appearing busy. Lovely place.

Recently had a week day lunch here with a friend. Absolutely first class! The bubble and squeak with poached egg was delicious! Fabulous mini pudding option with coffee. Friendly, helpful staff. Stunning location too, next to the viaduct. Can’t wait to visit again!

Me and my friend ordered fish and chips two for one and peas.it was nice .when I got bill did not pay much attention just price and our wine and dessert.once I was home I couldn't believe they charged us 2 50 each for peas.which I find odd it's not a side everywhere else I've been it's with meal .that is the only criticism .

Not great,very greasy mediocre food,service was very slow,I ordered a steak ciabatta with rocket and fries,steak was very chewy and the ciabatta was so hard I could of done some damage if I had of thrown it,My partner ordered the hunters chicken burger which didn’t even have bacon in,expensive for what it was/is.

The best roast dinner we’ve had for a long time. Beef, turkey and pork were all delicious and the vegetable side dish were nicely cooked. Service was great. Wine was nice, we will definitely be back and would definitely recommend this pub.

Having read other comments on here I’m actually shocked, our experience couldn’t have been any more different. The waiter that served us couldn’t have been more perfect, young lad extremely polite, friendly, and literally fantastic in all ways, his manners is actually one of the things we were most impressed with. Food was lovely, time wise it was extremely busy but food was perfect timing didn’t feel we had been there ages before being served but equally we didn’t feel rushed. Choice of ale was really good and prices fair. We will definitely be visiting again, definitely would love to in the summer and sit outside too. Well done everyone. Especially the young lad with floppy hair.

Whilst the food was good although my potatoe slices were greasy, the service was disgraceful. Before we took our coats off we were asked if we wanted a drink - no drinks menu offered. After starter we waited nearly an hour for our main course, mine was fish and partners pork. It was served one at a time, and after it arrived no one came to ask if everything was ok until we had finished. We asked for the bill and after 10 minutes went to the bar to pay, needless to say no tip. As we were leaving the waitress took two meals to an empty table and after a couple of minutes the guests arrived to sit down. All in all, we will never go again. We have for many years frequented the Swan but until they get fully trained staff we will not go.

Disappointed! Four of us for dinner. We were seated in the bar area, not the restaurant, and seemed "out of sight, out of mind" so far as the staff were concerned. Three of the four meals were good. My wife's "medium well" steak though was badly overcooked. It was dry inside and charred on the surface. I've eaten a lot of steaks in my time and this one had been ruined. A replacement steak, which took a long time to arrive was properly cooked and enjoyable. To be fair when our bill came half the cost of the steak had been deducted but the evening was spoiled. On a previous visit the service had been very slow and we waited a long time for our food but friends told us they had been recently and recommended we try again. We won't be back.

Dreadful service. Had to wait ages for someone to take drinks order. When the drinks arrived they took food order. From time of arrival we finally got food nearly 1.5 hours later. When it did arrive although it tasted ok it was lukewarm so clearly had been sitting around waiting for staff to bring to table. Had to ask for some of it as they’d forgotten part of order. Staff never asked if we wanted more drinks or checked to see if everything was ok. Very disappointed. This was my second visit as I’d been in before Christmas. Had the same issues with heat of food and poor service then but put it down to the place being busy. I won’t be back!

First time here, food lovely but would have preferred homemade chips, shame the chips were frozen, just not the same. Would definitely be 5* otherwise.

We booked a table online 7 days prior to a Sunday requirement, apart from the first email of our booking requirement, we received no actual confirmation email as we were apparently meant to get. Tried calling them several times a day for the 4 days prior to the booking and got cut off after listening to their music for a few minutes. Tried replying to the first email and it bounced back as a no reply address. Wrote to them via their Facebook page, message was read a day later and ignored. Which is a pity as I have heard their food is really good and wanted to try it. I have no idea why they didn't respond, even a sorry we are booked would have been ok, but to be greeted with silence and ignored is just plain rude and arrogant.

We went to the Swan yesterday evening, the food was delicious and the service was excellent, stunning venue too. Definitely recommend.

We had a fabulous work Christmas meal at The Swan, there was 18 of us. The Christmas menu had lots to choose from. When we arrived we were shown to our table and it looked lovely. The food came out and was served too us quickly. The 3 courses I had tasted delicious. The waitress’s that served us were very efficient and kept making sure we were happy and had everything we needed.

Based on previous experiences here we booked for a party of 8 to celebrate our Golden Wedding. We were not disappointed. Service could not have been bettered, the food was excellent and plentiful and the atmosphere at the Inn was perfect. We are going to try out their extensive breakfast menu in the near future. Thanks to all at The Swan for making our day memorable.

I feel saddened to write a 3 star review as we really love the Swan Inn, Chappel. However whilst the food, roast turkey and vegan Wellington are fantastic, along with the wine, unfortunately there are two areas that need serious improvement. First impressions when going to request a table at the bar were a bunch of young staff chatting while ignoring a bar full of dirty glasses. When offered a table, many tables were also not cleared after guests left. I want to reinforce however there were two outstanding members of staff, the more mature waitress and the dark haired male waiter, both of whom worked professionally and consistently hard. I was also horrified to see one of the young waitresses answer back the older waitress right in front of us when asked to do a task - it was embarrassing to hear as a customer. As a result of this we didn't tip - something we would never normally do. I fully support young people working in hospitality and we have a family member in the industry and had she been with us she would have been shocked. I would not hurry back until I know service is consistent but a big shout out to the two highly professional staff and fantastic chef.
