Nice Sunday Lunch, Nice Pint of Fosters

First time back for a lot of years and was not dissapointed excellent value for money, lovely tasty Sunday roast fresh veg with all the trimmings, could not try sweet as were too full but next time will make sure. Would recommend to any one, one of the best we have had, we will be back.xxx

The best , Steak and Lobster in the area

I've known this pub for many years but had recently been advised that the steaks were exceptional. And they are. Attended with friends, starters, 4 fillet steaks with sauce, 2 bottles of wine - £230 - exceptional value for money especially because the steaks really are superb. Choice of 6/8/10 oz fillet is welcome too. Over a decade ago this pubs famous coaching inn neighbour served the best steak I have eaten - until Friday night - that quality is back - perfectly cooked to each of our orders -blue, MR - all exactly as requested - with great flavour. Do not expect tablecloths and candles - this is still a pub - and all the better for it - it just happens to be an excellent steak restaurant too but don't expect to be in a high class restaurant environment - will be back if we can get in!

Good was as expected nice and plentiful for all of us. Poor table service had to chase for drinks and dessert,and no it wasn't particularly busy staff just bypast the table .

Recently popped in for a pint. It was rather busy but managed to find a seat. The staff were pleasant even though they were running off their feet. Next time I am in the area, I’ll be having another pint, maybe some food.

Phoned up late yesterday afternoon for a table for two. As we had passed this pub many times when walking 🚶‍♂️ 🚶‍♀️ but it doesn't open until 6 pm. The food was excellent and so was service. Salad, chips, and veg arrived also. Would highly recommend.

Had a Sunday lunch for Mothers Day yesterday and it was beautiful. Probably the nicest I’ve had. Friendly staff and beautiful food. Well worth a visit.

The food was OK nothing much more to be said about the food. The service was very slow. We waited an hour for our order to be taken. Was quite poor.

Sunday lunch was fantastic, plenty of meat and veg. Sticky toffee pudding was Huge . Definitely recommend. Only small car park be careful not to block access to neighbouring properties

8 of us went to the Sutton Arms last night for my wife’s birthday, the food the service was amazing first class nothing was too much trouble, I have never had any bad food or complaints every time I have been and always leave very satisfied, the perfect place for any occasion who needs these fancy restaurants when you have a gem like the Sutton arms

Always great food here. It never disappoints

The waiting staff are very pleasant, but there’s no sense of urgency/ efficiency. We went with 2 young families in the evening and had a lengthy wait before we could place our orders (40 mins at least). The food was prepared with cheap and nasty ingredients- the steak pie was the worst pie I’ve ever experienced: dry meat and inedible pastry. The veg and chips however were great… kids’ meals were also cheaply made. It seems the kitchen is disorganised and too layed back, not taking pride in sourcing quality ingredients. Not worth the price- there’s a lot of work to do before the establishment can claim ‘restaurant’ status.

Sunday lunch was absolutely dreadful . Waited for over an hour for our plates to be served and when it was brought it was so disappointing. We all had different meat... lamb, chicken and beef and every plate had the same black gravy. Absolutely shocking 😳. Plate was swimming in the foul tasting mess. As for the veg, this was no better, dried up and under cooked. Will definitely never go for Sunday lunch again or infact any other meal....... my advice is to avoid!! Somewhere like the Toby Carvery is 100% better and 1/3 of the cost!!

Lovely oldy worldy place. Food was excellent. There was 8 of and our dishes ranged from fillet steak to sirloin, steak in ale pie and a pasta dish vegetarian. All came with side dishes of vegetables salad and chips. Chips are home made and delish. I am quite particular when it comes to steaks and believe me this is up there with the best. Portion sizes are excellent and food was lovely and hot. Staff are lovely and polite and quick to react to any requests. We will return and well done.

This is the place to go if you want a great steak cooked exactly as ordered. You will not be disappointed. Car parking facilities are limited, but the pub is in a quiet location so parking nearby is easy.

Good food, good service.. Great value for money! Make sure that if you have a sweet tooth that you save room for dessert. A lot of room for dessert...

Had to wait for a table despite it being booked, but I can appreciate that was probably due to other people overstaying. The food was most excellent and cooked to perfection. The ale was in perfect condition. The wine list is limited but the wines on offer are excellent value. Overall a very good Sunday lunch.

Nice Sunday dinner £9.50 main course £12.50 for two, you get loads of meat the beef just falls apart I lovely rich gravy, the turkey and stuffing had 3 thick slices beautiful, we had to ask for more veg and gravy as wasn't enough at one shared bowl of veg for 4 people, but we're obliging, when we asked, my family enjoyed the mash in the butter so to speak, where ad I prefer mash with a tad of butter, it's the meat id be attracted to oh and the sweets were good value for money and very tasty, idyllic village, faceby

Another Sunday lunch, not my first visit and it wont be my last.

Had to wait 40minutes for our table despite booking, but the staff were helpful and friendly food was well worth the wait

Not enough staff so was very disappointed with the amount of waiting around to get drinks/food. Got our food before our drinks after 40 minutes After almost 2 hrs we gave up on getting a desert and left. Felt sorry for the staff as this was not their fault there is just not enough of them to serve the amount of people coming through the door.

Best food in north Yorkshire no hidden extras like most places in the area don't bother with the gimmicky tommohawk these steaks will knock spots off them for half the price

Myself and four others visited on Saturday evening. We were shown to a table in the corner which we found difficult to sit round as it was to close to the walls and adjacent tables. It was obvious that they couldnt accommodate the number of people already in the rrstaurant. We asked to be moved to another table which wasn't any better. Although the food was ok the service was really slow. Diners who came in after us received all three courses before we had received our main course. I wouldn't recommend eating at the restaurant on a Saturday evening

Really nice food. Family of 6 visited and we had some amazing steaks. Recommend it. One major disappointment though is my mum is wheelchair bound and they don’t have a ramp so no natural disabled access. Luckily my brother in law and I are strong enough to negotiate the steps with the chair but no way could my father have achieved this if he had gone with my Mum as a couple. One thing to fix please. Very important.

The best steak ever every time we visit. Going to be booking an overnight soon, looking forward to it. All of the staff are excellent and always make our visits special. Tracey manages the restaurant brilliantly. It isn't the biggest place so booking is a must.🙂
