Went for food,but didn't bother,,the smell when you walk in puts us right off,, won't be going again ,,was disappointed,,

Monday early evening so fairly quiet as expected but the atmosphere was friendly. Nice staff, a good deal with signing up to the newsletter got us 30% off 2 main meals and we both had fish and chips which was spot on, especially for under £16. Good selection of drinks available. We’ll return on a busier night to try again for sure.

Lauren was great! Although, was very disheartened by the younger girl serving with dark hair. She was more interested in the men there rather than serving customers. This seemed to be a reaccuring factor throughout the whole night with multiple different men. Every time, i went to the bar i would be ignored by her but the men instead would be served straight away. Lovely food and drink, but service from that young lady did not impress us.

Fantastic food came quickly and hot very polite and helpful staff. Highly recommended. Very clean.Nice big clean beer Garden for the family

Had such a lovely afternoon for a joint mother’s day and birthday celebration, the staff were so attentive and couldn’t have been more helpful specifically Millie-Anna it really made the experience. I got an ultimate chicken burger which was unreal!!

Had a lovely relaxing meal at Sun with my friend. They have a new menu out which is worth exploring. We had steak with the quinoa salad which was cooked to perfection. Very good food and prices are more than reasonable. Look forward to my next visit.

The barmaid saidbit would be half hour wait .which we didnt mind .2hours 10 mins we were eventually served was nice when it turned up but for 1 gammon and one medium steak was a bit much .they only had 5 tables eating

will not be visiting again!!!!!!!!! visited a couple of times and never any food on. when i finally visit and food is finally on it comes out cold. staff are very rude and would rather speak among them selves and do tick tocks when the bar is full. on a good note there is 2 people who are very welcoming heather and vicky. i will NOT be visiting again. not even for a drink. its a shame as i thought the new management was going to turn it round.

Went in today 19th april was really surprised how decent the place was ! A decent lad called Declan served us and the land lady was switched on makes a big difference as the place wasn’t run properly when it was last open under a different management. Looking forward to going again with the pub being under decent new management can’t fault anything they have done for us:)

Came to celebrate my birthday and Declan + the new land lady made it absolutely perfect! The staff are lovely and the service is very fast. Couldn’t ask for anything else as a local pub:)

table service absymal, 3 staff for 13 tables rude staff tables falling apart. management rubbish, avoid this place 2 hour stay takes this long to get served, while locals there from 11 am till 6 pm. will not use this place again

Management are always DISCUSTINGLY rude. Feel sorry for any staff left ive seen some lovely barmaids/waitresses leave this past year over this issue. Bring in new management before its too late. You can't even change a single item on your plate because the 'system won't do it'. Place is a joke

Visited this evening with work colleagues for food a drinks, to practically be told as we are not regulars they do not want our service..

Staff are always polite and friendly. The atmosphere is relaxed and how a pub should be. The food is cheap and good value for money, if your looking for restaurant quality dining experience go to a stand only restaurant if your looking for some honest pub food in a nice family pub environment then you won’t be disappointed.

Went for meal with friends service was diabolical they got the food order wrong and they got drinks order wrong. And refused to give refund. I ordered lasagna, hunters chicken with peas instead of salad, and mega rump steak medium rare with side of pepper corn sauce. 1/2 pint of Carling, a pint of stella and a bottle of cherries and berries old mountafter ordering and paying for the food and drinks the (I think she is new never seen her before) gave me a pint of carling instead of stella, after I corrected her and paid the difference she then gave me the a pint of stella. (No big deal simple mistake) Then went back to serving on the food till. I took my pint of stella to the table where my partner said where my cherries and berries old mount. I then returned back to the bar to remind Dee that I'm still waiting on the cider that I ordered.when the food came out my partner who requested pea instead of salad. had no peas with her hunters chicken and they brought me a mammoth mixed grill, I said I didnt order the mixed grill and that I ordered a mega rump steak which is 2 8oz steak They then took the mammoth mixed grill back into the kitchen took the rest of the meats etc.. off the plate leaving just a small piece of steak and chips and tomato then brought it back. I then went back to the bar to say that this is not 2 8oz steaks, while at the bar trying to sort this out, the rest of the party had nearly finished eating so I told them to cancel it and asked for refund. then got her supervisor who said she cant do refund on food and would replace the meal for correct meal. (which was also cheaper than one I had been Already paid) after stating the situation that the rest of the party had nearly finished their meals and by time they had correct my meal came they would have finished completely leaving me eating alone. She then went away for a few minutes leaving me stood at the bar while she rang her manager who was not on site to deal with the problem directly.The supervisor tried to make out that I ordered incorrectly (3 times) and that it's your policy to read back what I have ordered,They said it was against the pub policy refund on food as it was not ordered incorrectly which I stated I was.Inconclusion, in one order there was three things wrong which completely ruined our evening meal out with friends and to be insinuated by a member of staff that insinuated that I was lying about what I had ordered is more of an insultThey said I could send an email about my complaintAs a result we left with no food and no refund and out of pocket for the privilege.I have sent an email and as of yet had no reply or acknowledgement from sun inn or marston's

Fancied eating out so thought we would try our local (sun Inn) Advertising food until 21.00 hours, we arrived at 19.50 to be told there is no food we’ve decided to close the kitchen early because of some Motown event or something but we do sell crisps and peanuts PATHETIC It’s now 20.10 and they are still bringing food orders out NOT GOOD ENOUGH

Visit here regularly and never have a problem. Staff are lovely and friendly, the food is cheap and comes out quickly and a great selection of drinks. The pub gets busy but the staff always try their best to find you a table. Definitely worth a visit!

Visited a few times, no issues. Good food, good range at the bar (Marston smooth is a cracking pint). Good variety on the menu, the all day breakfast pie was something different and enjoyed it. Two women working, rushed off their feet but managed to take orders, serve at the beer, set tables and asking customers if food was ok. They did very well. We intend to visit again.

Have met friends over the years here ,but due to ill health of two of us not been for several months , we meet at lunch time so just wanted sandwiches or toasties as usual,but on asking for the menu’s told they were no longer available. The staff on duty were all polite and friendly so no problem there ,we will have to look for a new venue .

It’s difficult to find somewhere to eat while keeping our 5 year old occupied so thought we’d try local.,I was pleasantly surprised to find a booth with a tv and games for my son which was great. I also noticed a USB point which was a nice touch. The food came promptly but what a disappointment. Steak was passable but soggy onion rings and cold chips. The kids meal was inedible; soggy potato waffles and cold pizza. Obviously all frozen stuff. So we’re still looking for somewhere with something for the kids and good food. Such a shame

I ate here for the first time on a weekday evening with some friends and had a very pleasant experience. Service was good and interior is pretty nice for a pub. The chicken burger I had was delicious, the chips were a little undercooked and the cookie sandwich for dessert not as good as I expected but still a nice meal and I will definitely return.

I've visited the Sun Inn many times over the years and I have to say the current management are ruining the place. Rude, aggressive and very unwelcoming. The bar staff almost look scared to death of them. Childrens park is run down and unsafe. There was a time when the pub would be full on a Thursday evening for quiz night, however your lucky to see more than 2 people in there. Marstons need to get new management and bring the Sun back to what it used to be. Wont be visiting again.

Loved our visit. Ian the landlord was a brilliant host and looked after us really well. A fantastic prossseco session. Food was great too x

Excellent place for food and drink..

I have read the reply from the management from the Sun Inn regarding the previous review and disagree with it 100%. The Manager went straight outside and swore at the Mini Bus driver, and threatened to clamp his vehicle. Nobody was drinking there own alcohol and we spent loads on food and drink as a group. Nobody was being disrespectful when hanging Balloons on a turned off TV. The Balloons were removed straight away when asked by staff as they said “He will go Mad” referring to the Manager(your staffs words, not mine), and at that time the Group was only 4 strong. I asked the staff if it was Ok to put Party Bags on a 4 seater table and they said Yes. I have attached a photo so you can make your own minds up as to if the Balloons and Party Bags are offensive. The Hen was only in Pub for 10 minutes, and the Manager managed to ruin the start of a great weekend. It was a Friday not a Saturday as mentioned. The Landlord and Landlady are Rude, unwelcoming, and he swears a lot. You never approached me with your concerns. My family and I will not visit again.

I met 15 of my friends here on Friday to have food and a few drinks before getting picked up to go away for the weekend for a hen party. This was all cleared with the management and agreed that we could all sit in the bar side out of the way abit as we would have cases. As soon as I arrived with another friend you could feel the tension from the bar staff like you were being watched like a hawk. We went straight in to the bar side and there must of only been 10 of us there the bar staff were in and out every 2 seconds watching us telling us to get bags of the table with alcohol in even though it was unopened. We did as we were asked, then they sent a guy in to watch us who everytime we went out in to the smoking area clicked the door shut so we couldn't get back in (it was raining heavily) then the bus arrived to pick us up so we started to load up and the manager/owner came out and shouted at the driver 'get this f#*ing moved now or il clamp it!!' there was no need to speak to the driver in that way he had parked in a suitable place close enough to the door for us to load and wasn't blocking any entrance or exit. The owner then proceeded to shout abuse at some of my friends for them asking him why he was speaking to the driver in that manner. He then said that the couple of cars that belonged to members of our group would be clamped if they were left on his premises. We had already cleared with himself/colleagues if we could leave cars on his premises which he said was OK if we left the reg which we did.

A group of woman arranged to meet at this pub to get picked up for a hen weekend, this was checked with the pub the day before who said it was fine to go into the bar area, on the day the staff were very unwelcoming, rude and aggressive, after spending approximately 2 hours in there buying food and drink the manager told everyone to leave and get on the bus, he told the bus driver to move out of the car park or else they would be clamped, he them swore at at us all saying he didn’t care how much we had spent in the pub and again threatened to clamp the bus and other cars in the car park. One of the group who had come to wave us off was a lady with a 2 week old baby who he also made leave the pub in the rain. Very rude from the outset, it was the middle of the day so no harm was being done as the pub was quiet.

Myself and my wife tried the Sun Inn for an early tea. Plenty of tables available and the menu is extensive. The service is very good and the staff very welcoming and helpful.

Always good food and good drinks. The staff that work here are a credit to the place. Always smiling. The young girl behind the bar with dark hair is always helpful and nothing is ever too much trouble. Decor is questionable in the toilets but its only minor.

Ordered food informed was 45 min wait. Not a problem almost 1hr 20min later and after other peoples food who ordered after us was being brought out b4 ours and the people who ordered in front us had eaten there's and left and after enquiring where our food was to be told it on its way no appology explanation or offer of complementary drinks we eventually had enough of waiting and asked for our money back and left. It was not all that busy so couldn't imagine what waiting time would be if it was. After reading reviews this seems to be a regular occurance maybe management should be looking into it we will not be comming back.

Called in on the way back from a driving course and ordered a pint of cider. After I'd paid the barmaid she asked me if i minded sitting in the pool room because I had work clothes on. I said ok because I'd already paid for the pint but was really offended!

Even if the food was bad which it is not it is gorgeous I would come back! As the people are so lovely! They look after my grandad who’s wife recently passed away and they are such amazing people!!!!

On entry we were greeted in a friendly manner and immediately felt comfortable. We ordered lattes at the bar and were seated. It was quite busy for the time of day 13.30 p.M. we looked at the menu and couldn't believe the number of choices. It took ages to decide and the prices were just unbelievable.

I took my 3 kids with my friend and her kids for tea, from the start I was offended and disappointed the staff were not friendly with the children the orders were messed whilst being took so that took some time in itself after repeating the order 3 times over it was eventually brought out incorrect!! 1 meal was brought out whilst the others were almost half way through theirs then had to be returned as it was incorrect. The staff were quite rude with the children. Some of the meals were not edible. Safe to say I will not repeating the 'experience' again would rather post money down the drain.

I had tea here with my 3 children on 30/4/19, ideally placed opposite my 2 oldest’s children’s school. This is my go to Pub for tea with my children and never had a bad experience with any aspect of the experience. Particular emphasis on 2 members of staff that were on shift today during are visit, that are always friendly and welcoming to us as new customers and now regulars- Natasha and Bobbi x

Best public house on the north side of Doncaster,great staff who always have time for a chat even when they are very busy,landlord and his wife are excellent host .

This was our first time of visiting The Sun Inn which was really busy when we arrived at about 2pm on aFriday afternoon.

When we arrived it was really busy , staff said we’d have to wait about forty five minutes for a bar meal , we ordered and waited about 30 minutes , good value for what we all ordered, nice roomy place and plenty off eating tables outside if you prefer. .

Friendly people, fantastic staff, value for money! Always made welcome by the bar staff and management. Friendly welcoming locals.

The food here is okay, cheap and decent size but the wait times are always so long no matter when you come. Would go again bit not my first choice in the area

Had to wait nearly an hour for food. Daughter ordered garden peas but got mushy - we’d waited that long didn’t dare to complain for fear of waiting longer so she didn’t est them. My lasagne had obvs been ready for a while so was all curled up. Not a great birthday experience for my mum. No time to order dessert.

Friendly space with reasonably priced food. Welcomes children enough space for them to run about. There’s a pool table and dart board. Quite busy

Good atmosphere, decor bit bright but guess purple isn’t bad! At least it’s fresh and clean looking and the pub is well lit. We usually go for the Lite Bites menu which is varied and there’s an offer on for certain drinks at £1. Were told there was a waiting time of 45 minutes but time passed quickly and the meals were worth waiting for. Friendly efficient bar staff and waitress service. We often go there as it is local to us and we’ve always been satisfied. The meals were nicely served up, looked appetising.

Absolutely delicious I had the lasagna and side of chips it was fabulous followed by apple pie and ice cream fabulous hubby had the lamb curry he was well impressed I would definitely recommend this place for a meal the staff are brilliant and so so friendly has a wonderful time thanks xx

Had a lunch club special and the food was fantastic and at a great price. Can't go wrong 3 courses and a drink for Just over £6. Stuffed! Very polite and friendly staff. Highly recommend

We have been for several meals here and cannot fault them. Great portion sizes and very tasty. Reasonably priced. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Rang specifically to ask what time they served food and they said Norma times. They obviously meant normal times for holidays maybe Sunday hours which would be 7.30 when we asked at 7.45. They did continue to bring out food after we asked if they were still serving so not sure what time last orders for food actually was...

Never been to the pin before, visiting friends and family from Manchester. Stopped in for a meal and a pint and was very pleased. Lovely food and the staff were kind and friendly. Special shoutout to Sydney who made a special effort at the bar for us.

Met up with old work friends for a meal and drinks as we do several times a year , the sun inn was central for us all and often meat here for a light lunch. This time a evening meal . The food all came out at the same time and the staff friendly and helpful .

Been half a dozen times now for food at different times of day. We have never had a bad meal yet. The service and prices are unbelievable. Had a Dirty pulled pork special with rice - excellent value. 6 of us including 2 children all had various meals - all enjoyed. Toddler grandson at 16 months had a children's meal and cleared his plate. Really enjoyable experience.

December 6th Wedding anniversary, a nip in for lunch for quiet time And still, faultless Food hot, tastey, and the atmosphere faultless Thanks again. So glad the bluebell was such a dire experience as I would of never found this nice place to eat.

Really lovely friendly service, fast too, and gorgeous food. I had the chicken fajita burger, and it was far better than I would have expected for the price! One of the best burgers I've had...chicken was cooked perfectly and nice and juicy, and the spice level was just right for me. My partner had the steak and ale pie, and it was jam packed full and he said it was really tasty. Amazing value for such great food!

We visited Sun inn whilst shopping the local area. We got served quite quickly and it didnt take long for our food to arrive. The staff were friendly. Everything was fine, although i found the chicken breast to be rather chewey. Otherwise, Marstons Smooth, lovely pint. If in the area this is a good place for a cheap eat. Not had an issue with the Marstons chains yet.

Walked in with a party of 12 with no booking, amazing service with very friendly staff, food was fantastic all party extremely happy, definitely recommend, will definitely be returning.

This meal was the best ribeye steak I have ever had in Doncaster cooked to perfection staff really helpful food all ways excellent can not recommend it enough

Went on 28th Oct it having been recommended too us by a freind. It was possibly the worst Sunday lunch we've ever eaten out. It was relatively cheap and that was possibly reflected in the end product. The meat was probably the processed type, really tasteless, Yorks puds tasteless, vegetables bland, in fact my meal turned up minus some vegetables. Won't be visiting there again !

We bobbed in for a spontaneous lunch as I just said to my hubby j was hungry on our way past. We were glad we did the food was lush! I ordered a cajun chicken fajita burger which was a gorgeous succulent chicken breast with stir fries peppers & onion with delicious cajun coating. It was the nicest burger I've had in ages & I'm planning another soon! My hubby ordered a cowboy burger which he said was also really nice. They came with fries & onion rings so bonus! We were in & out well fed all in a jiffey so very pleased. It was a bargain too for the quality we couldn't believe our luck! There's loads of choice so you need to have a few trips to try everything out. Plus they have lots of different offers on different nights such as burger with a pint or curry night. You can eat out every night :0) oh yeah staff were great too helpful & friendly I was so taken up by the food I almost forgot! Oops!

We always visit here now and have yet to be disappointed. As i am holiday we got to come in for the lunch club which we have never done before. £6 pound for 2 courses and a drink you cant go wrong for the portion size and for another pound you could have the 3 course menu. Here's to the next visit

Stopped by on our way home to Newcastle from our holiday in France (a long old drive!!!).... with a moaning 3 year old in tow. The welcome we received was excellent, greeted at the door and taken to a booth where they turned the tv onto CBeebies for the little one. Told us about the play park around the back (to which I said we wanted to get him fed first and they said it was closed for half an hour to help us out )... they were all very friendly and even came and gave the little one some free sunglasses. The visit really was made by the hospitality and turned what we thought was going to be a bit of a nightmare into a very pleasant surprise.... food was spot on too
