Nice busy pub, but good service, did not eat.

Re private room and buffet for party of 50+ July '24. Greatly enjoyed by all. Sun Inn staff, esp Katie, could not have been more helpful and accommodating, in advance and on the night. Thanks to all

Claims to be a rugby pub and the memorabilia on every wall would certainly support that......but the reality is somewhat different !!! Ireland playing South Africa, no. 1 vs 2. Broadcast on Sky sports. Instead the pub shows on one small screen in the corner streaming on NOW tv so they can show football on every other screen in the pub. They don't have the required bandwidth to stream sport so all you get is a pixalated stop/start picture. Yes, it was the Euros but every pub in town is showing football and it's free to air. If you want to claim an identify as a differentiator then stick to it.

Great little pub tucked away from the main throng, except on rugby days. Screens show the sport , Food is inexpensive rather than describing it as cheap. Good ales and friendly staff. A good local pub.

Been going to this family run pub for the last 32 years. Best pub in Richmond for good traditional pub food and who are not afraid to experiment with their chef’s specials. Joe’s Steak Pie (comes with chips & peas), Sausage & Mash and Margy’s Homemade Beef Chilli are my favs.

On entry to the sun Inn we first noticed how old and smelly the interior was we couldn't smell any cooking of a Sunday roast going on and there wasn't many people in or in the outside space and no one was eating.. first thoughts was to RUN...but we were hungry and decided to give it the benefit of the doubt.. we sat outside down the side of the pub where the bins were overflowing with smelly rubbish so we moved a few tables down to realise we were sitting below the toilet window (smelly and flies) so we moved 2 more times to unstable chairs.. tables..slanted floors. worst of all pre packed food from freezer rubber lamb roast potatoes from freezer yorkies from freezer basically the worst roast iv ever had..gave the lamb to the dog avoid this place at all cost we won't be going back.🤮

I’d describe it as a local boozer. They are historically a rugby pub, soccer is showing whenever I’ve been there (admittedly mid week). I haven’t eaten here but friends and it seems fine, all I can testify is they do real chips and do them well. If this what you are after you will fine. It is across the road from Richmond station, and a few miles from Twickenham

Oh wow, what a find. I'd only ever heard of this place (good things of course!) but had never been in. Oh, how I regret not coming here sooner. Nikki is an absolute angel. I'm not fussy but I do have food allergies which she took care of and made sure I was able to enjoy their fantastic Sunday roast, book me a table for next Sunday, look forward to it already!!

I was really surprised by the food and the fact that it’s great value for money. These days in London it’s hard not to get ripped off for sub par food quality but they’ve done a great job. 90% of the staff are friendly and always willing to help. If you like typical old school English pubs then this is definitely a place you’ve got to visit.

In spite of a mix up over our booking we were made very welcome. Although this pub is in Richmond it's prices are the most reasonable yet. We had the best Sunday roast we have had anywhere for years, we couldn't finish it and really good quality meat.

Back off the main road a a quiet street, the Sun is an unexpected gem of a find. A lovely old Fullers pub with a small horseshoe bar in the centre as you enter. The two barmaids were fantastic: cheerful and helpful (listen to their food tips, you won't be disappointed!). Although the bar space is quite small, the staff were very efficient and no-one had to wait long to get their orders. There's not a LOT of room around the bar, but there are two rooms out the back with TVs to watch whatever sporting even you might be into. There is also some seating out the front with a small area down the side of the pub as well. The steak sandwich I had was huge! One full steak, melt in your mouth medium rare with mustard, onions and some greens - fantastic and for under a tenner!!! The Guinness was excellent as was the Darkstar Hophead.

The best Vegetarian roast this side of the city! Service is fast and reliable. The servers are always happy to help and rectify any issues. Only thing, the roasts sell out quick so you have to get in early for them!

An old favourite in Richmond, a classic quality pub. Not really changed in 25 years but that's its charm

Have lived in richmond for ages and didn't know this gem existed. Great place for the rugby, really good prices, and the food was great. Service was impressive, and 5 were happy and helpful

If you love a decent pint & love rugby,the sun is an excellent choice. Full of rugby memorabilia from signed framed shirts & photographs👍 With large screen TV to watch sport. The staff are very friendly as well 👌

I visited this pub after years and it still had its warm cosy feeling as before. On the back streets of Richmond away from the highstreet, it has a good selection of beers and friendly staff. Nice layout of pub with outdoor seating also. They used to do one of the best steak pies you could get, I hope they still do! Look forward to trying it on my return :-)

An alley entrance, red carpet, dark sports bar, no gender on toilets, friendly staff, dogs, take a time trip, good beer, lagers, wines, pickled onions, bar rolls, I thought pubs like this had disappeared, go.

Great rugby pub, a proper old pub

Came here for 2 pints of lager and a packet of crisps (actually we had ale, and 2 packets of crisps). Really nice hidden pub both inside and out. Weather was great so made use of the front beer garden, and pub is well presented for curb appeal. Good selection of ales, didn't feel they were expensive and the staff were really friendly.

The Bar Manager is very unpleasant. My sports league have a deal with the pub, where we get a free portion of undercooked chips each week. Unfortunately, due to a black market for free chips token, the pub has had to implement draconian measures to prevent themselves from giving chips away to fraudsters. Despite spending hundreds of £s each week, I could accept this if it wasn't for the megalomanian attitude of the Bar Manager, who arrogantly declares with a smirk: "there's nothing I can do". Will not be returning. P.s. a lemonade is £4.80.

Nice bar. Decent pub grub. Guinness wasn't great. The tap cider was Strongbow which felt a bit 80s. Most bars now have a superior cider.

I reviewed this pub some months back, when we first visited, and our recommendation hasn't changed. Almost certainly one of the cheapest for a Sunday Roast, and cooked to perfection. It has become our favourite Sunday Roast pub, whenever we're in the area.

Love this pub…great vibe for the rugby…but what a shame that they don’t serve food on a Sat night, especially on a champions league final night (even a burger would be great)

Stumbled upon this busy and efficient pub following an amazing adventure in Twickenham-land. Beer is reasonably priced, and service fast (if you have female company.... Slower if you don't). Loads of nostalgia on the walls and the staff were intelligent enough to preemptively half poor Guinness. A great drinking hole and friendly pub. And they sell alcohol, so definitely worth a pint there. .. might do food, but not sure as eating is cheating...

Busy pub tucked away in the centre of Richmond. Watched a 6Nations game here, lots of staff and quick service at the bar. Lots of rugby memorabilia. Well worth a look around on a quiet day.

Been going here for years to the sun Inn, a warm friendly atmosphere, great music, great bar staff and a good playlist. If you like a more traditional pub and atmosphere with a rugby theme this is perfect. Not to mention the prices are better than most of Richmond.

I used to live here back in the 70s /80s my grandfather was the landlord so my review was always going to be biased . First time back in nearly 40 years with my kids. The pub hasn't changed that much. Great trip down memory lane.

The place to go if looking for a Sunday Lunch! While that's often the case, I was surprised that my beef wasn't particularly hot when I last visited, as if it had been left in the kitchen for a while before being given to me which was a slight shame.

Lovely pub , no kiddies after 7 pm .need ID if youngish. Food good pub grub ( no gastro food here) but good honest food.

Nice pub tucked away ftom the main road but only by a very short walk down sun alley. Rugby orientated with framed shirts on the wall but not "in your face" and would appeal to all traditional pub lovers.

Booked a table for the England game, on the Thursday beforehand. Turned up on Monday to find others on the table. I was told they had to make room for another booking. What is the point of booking(putting in the book) then not honouring the booking ? Was my new local as i live a hundred yards from it. Will not be returning again at left at half-time. Jokers .

The bar is great with lovely wooden details and a horseshoe shaped bar. We went during a Sunday afternoon and it was quiet. The drinks were nice and we had some snacks (a great pork pie and some pickled eggs) all made fresh Definitely would surgest going to this fine establishment. There kitchen food is also great and not particularly pricey, be careful going in when there is sports on as it can get busy but you can book a table in advance. The bar staff are great, never had any issues.

Good old school local pub. Worn seats, Richmond and international rugby paraphernalia throughout. Outside seating in front for sidewalk viewing, sheltered seating on the side; certain nights of the week a local small choir will be practicing their vocal and drinking at the far end of the side seating. Interesting pub food menu, usually some nice daily specials, and very much on the affordable side for Richmond. Also good 2 for 1 drink specials during the week.

This is great traditional boozer with real ales that are really kept, with friendly service, you can even have a pickled egg if you wish 🤞

Great pint of Pride in good condition. Very busy the night we were there as there was a function at the back end of the building which took up a lot of tables. Overall a good pub with good bar service.

I have never reviewed a pub before, but this pub certainly deserves high recommendation. A friend and I had a Sunday Roast earlier this week and were extremely impressed with both the quality and quantity of food served, especially given the relatively low price. We were also impressed with the extremely friendly service and attention to our needs.

Lovely old pub nestled one minute from Richmond green, a Fullers so great selection IMHO... Friendly people there. Has SKY and shows football if that's what you're into. Reasonable prices nowadays, 2 beers for £10 :-)
