Wow what a great pub. Great atmosphere. Staff were fantastic, we went on a weekday lunch time and had a super tender steak pie. We don't often go to Richmond but next time we do this will be our first choice for food. Have since returned a few times. This is the best pub we have found in Richmond

We have just had my husbands Birthday party at the venue. There were over forty people. The staff were so helpful and the service was amazing. Thankyou to all those who mafe this event go so well. Everybody was served in good time and the venue provided some additions we had forgot to organise, I would definitely use this venue again.... well priced, central, warm and friendly.

The home of English Rugby, I still went in. The Sun Inn is a glorious Richmond pub with plenty of rugby pictures and trinkets. Good selection of both cask and keg beers on offer. We called in to the Sun Inn with friends and our families on the way to the Kew Garden lights. We chose the pub as they said they would have the football on, and we'd be able to get something to eat. The staff and locals are all very friendly, the pub is lovely and cozy, and very well set up for relaxing or watching sport. The food was reasonably priced and good quality (12 quid for burger and chips), and I'm really pleased we choose it. If you're in Richmond in need of a pint and a pie, then call in!

Go elsewhere. Imagine walking into a pub only for the staff member to tell you “I finish in a minute”… Then waiting not for the second but third staff member to make your order after paying. Can’t comment on the food and will say the drink once made was decent but there’s plenty of better options nearby.

We tracked down this good local Fuller's pub in preference to some of the other local offerings, which are doing more self-consciously 'posh' food since we were last in the area about 6 years ago. This is a pub with a great atmosphere...a 'rugby' pub with lots of pictures, shirts and posters...even a pair of rugby boots in a frame. It is a comfortable and pleasant place to stop, have a meal and a pint. If you want it there are large TV screens at the back of the pub for watching sport. Both of the guys on the bar were doing a good job when we popped in for an early meal. Straightforward pub menu but none the worst for that. Our food was great! Good beer selection! Thoroughly enjoyed my fish & chips and a couple of pints. We chatted for a while and agreed that we'd call in here next time we were in Richmond. 5-stars! I'd be happy if this was my local!!!

Claims to be a rugby pub and the memorabilia on every wall would certainly support that......but the reality is somewhat different !!! Ireland playing South Africa, no. 1 vs 2. Broadcast on Sky sports. Instead the pub shows on one small screen in the corner streaming on NOW tv so they can show football on every other screen in the pub. They don't have the required bandwidth to stream sport so all you get is a pixalated stop/start picture. Yes, it was the Euros but every pub in town is showing football and it's free to air. If you want to claim an identify as a differentiator then stick to it.

On entry to the sun Inn we first noticed how old and smelly the interior was we couldn't smell any cooking of a Sunday roast going on and there wasn't many people in or in the outside space and no one was eating.. first thoughts was to RUN...but we were hungry and decided to give it the benefit of the doubt.. we sat outside down the side of the pub where the bins were overflowing with smelly rubbish so we moved a few tables down to realise we were sitting below the toilet window (smelly and flies) so we moved 2 more times to unstable chairs.. tables..slanted floors. worst of all pre packed food from freezer rubber lamb roast potatoes from freezer yorkies from freezer basically the worst roast iv ever had..gave the lamb to the dog avoid this place at all cost we won't be going back.🤮

I’d describe it as a local boozer. They are historically a rugby pub, soccer is showing whenever I’ve been there (admittedly mid week). Back off the main road a a quiet street, the Sun is an unexpected gem of a find. A lovely old Fullers pub with a small horseshoe bar in the centre as you enter. The two barmaids were fantastic: cheerful and helpful (listen to their food tips, you won't be disappointed!). Although the bar space is quite small, the staff were very efficient and no-one had to wait long to get their orders. There's not a LOT of room around the bar, but there are two rooms out the back with TVs to watch whatever sporting even you might be into. There is also some seating out the front with a small area down the side of the pub as well. The steak sandwich I had was huge! One full steak, melt in your mouth medium rare with mustard, onions and some greens - fantastic and for under a tenner!!! The Guinness was excellent as was the Darkstar Hophead.

The Bar Manager is very unpleasant. My sports league have a deal with the pub, where we get a free portion of undercooked chips each week. Unfortunately, due to a black market for free chips token, the pub has had to implement draconian measures to prevent themselves from giving chips away to fraudsters. Despite spending hundreds of £s each week, I could accept this if it wasn't for the megalomanian attitude of the Bar Manager, who arrogantly declares with a smirk: "there's nothing I can do". Will not be returning. P.s. a lemonade is £4.80.

The Sun Inn is a pub in Richmond-upon-Thames, England. It is a popular spot for rugby players and fans, and has a reputation for its hearty fare and real ale. The pub has a large outdoor seating area, which is perfect for sunny days. The Sun Inn has a mixed bag of reviews online. Some people love the pub, while others find it to be overpriced and overrated. The most common complaints are about the high prices, slow service, and inconsistent quality of food. However, there are also many people who rave about the pub's atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious food. Overall, the Sun Inn is a decent pub with a loyal following. If you're looking for a place to watch a rugby match or enjoy a pint of real ale, the Sun Inn is a good option. However, if you're on a budget or looking for a more upscale dining experience, you may want to look elsewhere.

I've been here before, and I can fully recommend their mussels, chips and selection of Belgian beers. Unfortunately their Sunday roasts are just not up to scratch. Poor selection of vegetables, chewy roast potatoes, thinly sliced meat they don't serve to your preferred pinkness. Stingy with gravy and sauces. Very expensive for very low quality food. The tableware is tired, music is mediocre, and cheap LED lighting all helps add up to a very sad, expensive, disappointing meal. Definitely wouldn't invite your mates for a Sunday get-together here. A simple family lunch cost close to £200, with just one drink each. Avoid unfortunately, TripAdvisor is very misleading.
