We went in Sunday afternoon for an end of walk drink, and sadly, the Bell across the road was shut. Never again, the lack of service, atmosphere, echo, furniture, ambience. are all just awful. I can't even imagine how the place could be changed to appear welcoming. Maybe some sofas, comfortable chairs and remove the awful furniture. Add some plants, curtains and paint job could help. Like walking into a closed down social club. I am not usually this vocal about how much I could dislike a venue..But this pub left me feeling cold, I couldn't wait to get out and I definitely wouldn't return. Sorry

Waited at bar for service for over 15 minutes and was completely ignored. When asked the lady at bar said just a minute and then promptly tidied bar us rather than serve us. A man already sat at bar then asked her for a drink and she served him before us . As a consequence we walked out and will never return again ! We were trying to ascertain if it was a possibility for a family party but because of service will not be using again !

We had a Sunday roast here on 16th April 2023 and it was fantastic. Everything cooked fresh, you could tell that nothing was from a packet and it was piping hot. There was a huge amount which I struggled to make a dent in and even my husband and son, who are big eaters, struggled to finish it. Lovely man on the bar who served us too. Absolutely faultless, thanks very much

We came here about a month ago for Sunday lunch and were really pleased with the food quality and friendly service so we decided to return. This time it was an excellent roast lamb piping hot , very good flavour and it was nice that the gravy was served separately to the food instead of already being on the plate . And litle things like the mint sauce was a high standard .staff were all friendly and helpful definitely will be back soon .

We ate at The Sun for the first time today. The real fire made us feel welcome and cosy straight away and a welcome break from horrible weather. The food was great. Choices of delicious burgers, pizzas and pasta meals which were huge and all made on the premises. Service was good. We would recommend eating here and the garden looks as though it would be nice in warmer weather too.

Our first visit to this little pub and we will certainly be back for more. This was for Mothers day lunch booked some weeks ago and chosen in truth because our first choice was full. We did not know what to expect but from the full car park we could tell this place is popular. Our table was in what we guess is probably their normal function room, well decorated in a French style and with crisp white table cloths. We ordered our drinks and beef Sunday lunches. Drinks served quickly and food served in very reasonable time. Very good portion of beef and plentiful vegetables and Yorkshire pudding with rich gravy all served piping hot. The desserts were also very tasty and probably the best surprise was the very reasonable price. We were able to compliment the lady chef afterwards., We didn't have children with us this time but they also do a very good child menu we noted, and also dogs welcome in bar area.

Lovely desserts too when i went with husband but with sisters we tried the rhubarb crumble, it looked delicious, but was in fact a very dry not nice crumble and not enough fruit. But, will we return, yes most certainly. Recommend this delightful pub, a pub like we all remember. Had the 'real' fire going, burning logs on the chilly day we went. Delightful.

We often visit this pub when camping at the small campsite within the village of St Nicholas at Wade. Over the years we have been there we have seen a different landlords. Wendi and Tony, are running The Sun currently (2014/15) and I really hope that they continue to do so. They both make the pub have a homely feel to it and are very welcoming 'like sitting in their living room'. We love to pop in for a quick drink, which usually ends up being the entire evening as we end up chatting with Wendi, Tony and many of the locals. When we arrived for the first time this year, Wendi even remembered what drinks we wanted, now that is a sign of a fantastic landlady, in my opinion!Food is also served at The Sun, our son loves the Fish and Chips. Everything is always fresh and tastes good. There is another pub in the village just opposite, The Bell. However, we prefer The Sun with its personal friendly atmosphere compared to the larger more formal establishment.I hope to spend many more happy afternoons and evenings in the company of Wendi and Tony once the 2016 weather allows for camping!See you soon and thanks x

Popped in here on my way home from a country walk (and before you wonder, I'm not one of the kagool-wearing brigade, I just fancied a good walk).Have used the pub opposite for many years, but had never ventured over the threshold of the Sun so was unsure what to expect given it had up until recently been closed.Upon arrival, I was met by a kindly guy - whom I assume was the landlord. The Sun served a good pint after my 6 mile walk, so I decided upon lunch. A simple bacon baguette and a side of chips.Wow! An absolute mouth-watering plate of exactly what I ordered. No fancy pants dressing, just proper pub grub, well presented at a very reasonable cost (under a tenner for a pint of premium lager and my food) The Sun serves an extended menu other than my minimalistic offering, and it all sounds very nice and, in the case of the curries, has reputable provenance. The pub over the road has, and continues to serve straight up & down food to those of a pensionable age, whilst the Sun is a hidden gem for those of a sub-retirement age.Good luck to the Sun Inn. The place was dead, considering it was lunch time on a Sunday and they did a reasonably priced carvery, you would expect it to be busy... but no. They served dinner on stone cold plates, so the food that was hot, was cold by the time we sat down. Cutlery wasn't very clean and the veg was over cooked in some sort of sauce (yuck). The only saving grace was dessert, which was bought in by the looks of it. None of us would go here again.

We decided to eat after attending a meeting there. I ordered a Steak and Ale pie and my partner ordered Scampi - both with chips & peas... First I'll say that it tasted ok but that's as far as I'll go. Chips were fine - the peas on the tough side. The Scampi was the cheapest you can get and my 'pie' was in fact an oval ceramic bowl filled with minced gravy and topped with pastry but looked more like a soggy Aunt Bessy yorkshire pudding. There WAS one piece of steak (I'm saying that to give them the benefit of the doubt) which was not quite the size of a 10p piece. We were hungry, the meals filled a hole and it was cheap(ish) so not the end of the world. However, I eaten better food in a 'greasy spoon' cafe. The beer was good though...

Revisited the Sun inn again on holiday in October 2014 ,as it has a new management.Found both Tom and Wendi very welcoming, and the food and beer excellent. Also went for Sunday dinner, which is a very good carvery, with a choice of four meats. The food was very good and plentiful for the price, and the inn was nearly full of customers in October !Only just managed to get a table.Would highly recommend this inn to anybody.

Our first trip out to St Nicholas-at Wade - and will definitely be visiting again for the Sun Inn's superb Sunday Roast. All the staff were very friendly and helpful , the food was , without doubt , beautifully cooked , extremely good value for money and we would have to say - the best roast we have had in our Sunday pursuit of the perfect roast dinner !Would certainly recommend to friends and family.

Friendly welcome and cheerful, thoughtful service throughout. 2 great beers on draught: Tribute and a seasonal brew - both well-kept and delicious. No open fire, sadly, even though this was (a rather quiet) lunchtime 5 days before xmas, so I kept my overcoat on until I felt a bit warmer. Food quality and quantity were excellent. We had 1 starter of mussels and another of garlic mushrooms. One main was cod and chips with a truly fresh and varied salad and t'other was Salmon with new potatoes, carrot, cauliflower and broccoli - so no skimping on the veg - if only all pubs could be as committed. The food was piping hot so it's a pity the plates were cold - surprising too since there was a real live chef in the kitchen. Prices were good and we left full and contented. Do visit: The Sun has reverted to being a nice place once again.

We visited in December with the intention of eating at The Sun. There were lots of signs outside promoting their new menu and food availability. The lady serving at the bar was very polite and friendly, but there were only one or two other customers and we did feel rather uncomfortable. When we asked for a menu we were told that no food was being served that evening because they 'had been very busy at lunchtime' and were asked 'haven't you been across the road?' (to The Bell). We are regulars at The Bell and had decided to try The Sun as an alternative, but I'm afraid that based on this experience we won't be visiting again.

Having not visited the Pub for a long time, we thought that we might give it a try. (group of 4) Well we were glad we did! We had a warm welcome by Cecelia, service with a smile, at the bar, and was served by Sue. We had a lovely Sunday roast, served with all fresh veg, with a choice of meats. Sue, thank you for the extra gravy! the sweets were nice as well. The Pub had a great atmosphere, backed up by friendly and helpful staff. We are looking forward to our return, which I know, will be in the near future.Thank you to you all!Louis B

I have been back twice since my last review. Once for a Sunday roast (lovely) and once for steak and ale pie and chips (also lovely). A member of our party was recovering from an operation and wanted a very light meal. The Landlady spent a long time suggesting dishes and finding out what he would like and got the chef to cook him something off the menu specially. Really kind and helpful. This pub has had a bit of a chequered history over the last couple of years but the new owners are really making progress and the place is starting to fill up again. One of my favourite places to eat!

Atmosphere is really friendly and welcoming and the Landlord and Lady are really friendly and helpful. Food was great - I had hunters chicken and my friend had scampi. Both really good - well cooked and generous portions. Really nice chips too.The new owners have only been in a few weeks but they are making a great start and I'm sure this place is going to get better and better. Looking forward to my next visit!

Thank goodness my local is under new management! I have now eaten here three times in the past couple of weeks and have found the pub atmosphere great, the food excellent and the welcome warm. Thoroughly recommended for the Sunday roast in particular as there is a good selection of roasts and the veggies are very fresh and tasty. I will be going back!

The Sun is under new ownership as of 14th October 2013. The new landlords are Sue and Dan, The welcome was fantastic, really cheerful and their attitude was one to be admired. Even thou they were still in the process of moving in and giving the pub a good clean they couldnt do enough for us. The kitchen was supposed to be closed until Friday 25th October, they came to our rescue and opened the kitchen and cooked us all a wonderful traditional pub meal. These actions are what you get from seasoned professionals of the trade and one that has us hooked and will definitelt be going back on a regular basis. This coupled together with their opening drink offers and the great background music of classic soul tunes gave to a wonderful afternoon.I would just like to add that they also informed us that there will be BT Sport available from next weekend which is also good news because i have wanted a local where I will be able to watch not only the football but the rugby premiership too,Wow how lucky, well I know where Im going to be.....lol.

Lovely welcome on arriving in this pub, very friendly owner, food is cheap, but if you are looking gor an upmarket meal dont go here, the ham is cheap round ham out of a packet, can buy 2 packs for £1 in sainsburys, i got about 3 round bits of ham, chips nice, eggs nice, cheap ham ruined meal, but maybe at the price cant complain, i just expect home cooked ham like other pubs

We have just returned from a lovely evening at the Sun Inn in what was an unplanned evening out with my wife, young daughter and parents. The menu was varied and offered a fine selection of fresh home cooked food with plenty of choices for all palettes. Our food was served hot, freshly cooked and very well presented, with nothing but praise for the service we received. We have eaten at the Sun on a number of occasions and cannot fault the welcome we receive every time and would not hesitate to recommend eating here.

I had Sunday lunch at the Sun Inn yesterday with my partner and Father and I have to say it was the worst meal I have ever eaten. The food was tasteless, the cauliflower was just a mush, roast potatoes had obviously been sitting round for hours, stodgy yorkshire pudding, awful white cabbage and the gravy was just cabbage water with a little colouring! Very disappointing indeed and we will not return. I think the owners need to pop over to the Bell Inn and have Sunday lunch to see what they have to live up to!

Running a pub these days is not easy but at this place there's an approach that deserves to be successfull. Decent beers and a friendly crew give a good local pub feel. There's also good food from a chef who knows how to cook a first class Sunday lunch at very affordable prices.I have been here many many times and I have never had a bad meal. This is a local pub with a great atmosphere and it's well worth a visit, be careful tho as there are two pubs in this beautiful village, the sun and the bell, avoid the bell at all costs, horrible owner terrible atmosphere, the sun is the place to be live bands some Saturday nights, real draft country cider and good selection of real ales, does get busy on Sundays for food so might be wise to book to avoid disappointment, and if you love pork the belly of pork is out of this world I have all three meats on offer as I can never decide and at a cost that does not break the bank, oh and I must mention the loverly couple who run it, very friendly and made us very very welcome Tom and Jo I think there names are telling us about the brand new refit the pub has just had, looks incredible. Can't wait to come back for lunch so keep up the good work full marks.

A nice spot to stop for a hot or cold drink and ice cream. The service was good and we although not playing at the time of our visit we believe music is played here at various times.

Went for lunch with a friend Have been here before for tea and cake Sat at a table in the sun decided to move when one with a sun shade became free as I got up my brand new trousers caught on 2 prices of the plastic wicker chair that had come losses and were sticking out. I hadn't noticed this when sitting down as I couldn't pull the chair out fully due to lack of space. My trousers were damaged. I informed the waiter who just said sorry, and he would remove the chair. This wasn't done until as we left, I told another member of staff. If I had had bare legs, I would have had a nasty cut. We ordered jacket potato with chilie and salad. Which was quite nice . However my friends coffee was cold. Informed the same male member of staff who said the machine was playing up he took the cup and returned the same half drunk coffee to the table it had obviously just been put in the microwave. Sadly, I now have a damaged pair of trousers that I will have to pay to be mended, and we were not even given a full cup Of fresh coffee. Needless to say, we won't be returning.

Watery ice cream - yuck. Unfortunately I think the proprietors forgot to add the ice cream powder to the liquid today. Within 30seconds of having the cones the “ice cream” was melting and it was very watery tasting. It is advertised as Jersey ice cream which surely means it should be creamy?

The QC is a super, traditional pub tucked away in a historic little street in Ramsgate. It is very quirky, friendly, and atmospheric. Well worth a visit for a good pint of Ale.
