Decent food and good servive. Unfortunately the manager has banned us for 1. Asking for another preice of chicken on last visit, as the first very overcooked. 2. Asking for an extra chicken Goujon for my young daughter on our visits since the pub chain shrunk the portions. Somewhat massively taken aback at being told we are not welcome due to the above.

Had a party for my mum and couldn’t have asked for better. The food was amazing lots of people said how lovely It was. The room was the perfect size, all staff were very helpful. Hannah in particular couldn’t do enough to assist me beforehand and was amazing on the night. Excellent value for money, bar area clean, tidy and professional staff.

Booked for a wake 330-730 weeks before only to be told we had to be out by 6:15. £800 for less than 3 hours. We were told to book on the day for extra time but they had booked the tables already for food guests. We wanted 330-4oclock start, they booked for 3. Its like they purposely wanted the eve free for other pub business. ITS A WAKE we cant do it over! Sandwiches were nasty, revolting. Staff was nice enough tho if unhelpful. Really how can you turf out wake guests after a couple of hours...wasn't even cheap! How embarrassing. Disrespectful . Don't bother. Go elsewhere . EDIT: thank you for your reply Hannah. May I ask at what time you thought i was happy? Was it at 545 when you told us we had to clear out in the next 30mins? Did you see there were still 35 guests? Checkovs gun, why did you need to say there were tables booked at 630 so the option for easy time extensions to 8 were not available?.. It meant that your pub took bookings over our time option earlier in the week when that time allotted was OUR option, your oversight, your mistake, so you knew that full well at the beginning of the function we were going to run out of time, no way did you think that 2 1/2 hours would be enough. Your staff had made a mistake in booking and in fact double booked! Own up to your mistakes, don't gaslight.

Food was dry and did not taste fresh but the service was very good. Staff were lovely.

Myself and partner popped in for a couple of drinks and while there decided to have some of the Nasho’s as a snack. Oh wow they were incredible and would highly recommend. Looking forward to returning to try out more of the menu

Private function, well catered for, only minus was having to go through to bar for drinks.

Just had a meal to savour and remember. From the new menu I chose the pork steak with a mushroom sauce, and wow. A large steak that was perfectly cooked and accompanied by the sublime homemade mushroom sauce. It is a meal that I would highly recommend but must be partnered by the mashed potatoes and not chips. Jay, Hannah and the rest of The Sun team continue to raise the bar and make improvements for customer satisfaction -- Well done!

Family gathering, fantastic table near the fire! Great service and delicious food

Had our Mums 70th birthday celebration here recently. The function room was ideal and the Buffet food was really good. Staff are always friendly and helpful.

Went in for the first time with my wife on a Saturday couple of weeks ago have to say what a luvly friendly welcome we got the staff were brilliant we had food and it was lovely great atmosphere and lovely food ta very much see you very soon 👍🏻

Nice pub with decent food and good service

Had a great meal last Thursday night, 5 of us all served lovely, fresh and hot food. Really friendly and helpful waitress, can thoroughly recommend chicken skewers, and the variety of burgers. Thank you 😊

Can only give the food a three as there was a long blonde hair in the middle of my chicken skewer...... Waitress was very apologetic. Was offered a drink as compensation which I declined as I had a full glass.... waitress assured me it wasn't hers as her hair was tied back but the chef thought it was the girl who prepped the chicken earlier in the day 🤢. Put a bit of a dampener on the Christmas meal I was having with friends to the extent one left as she couldn't eat having seen the hair.

Went for a Christmas meal which was very small and very average. Such a shame the veg was all frozen and the smallest roast potatoes of which I had 3. My friend had the rotisserie chicken but failed to find much meat with her meal. Drinks were forgotten and it wasn’t even that busy. Staff lovey. I didn’t say anything on the evening as my friend gets very anxious in those situations and she didn’t want to make a fuss. We all also found that there was no atmosphere. Very overpriced for a very small microwaved /frozen food.

We recently had our Christmas meal at The Sun. We all had a fantastic time and the food was absolutely amazing. The Christmas roast turkey dinner was the best I’ve ever had in a restaurant. The service was first class. All the staff were super friendly, so efficient and all worked so well together as a team. The whole evening was superb and really enjoyable. Highly recommended. Thank you !

My family and I went here for a wake and the staff had prepared a lovely area for us. The food was delicious, especially the wedges and tortilla chips. A lovely pub with great seating arrangements and friendly service. Well done guys!

I came there and have a sit. Nobody was waiting at the entrance so I figure it out I can sit wherever is available place. So I sat at the table and my mate went for pints. Meanwhile after 15 minutes of waiting at the table the waitress said I cannot sit there without reservation. What a joke! Nobody told me that at the entrance and there was no information I have to have reservations. Moreover they have dirty glasses.

Always receive a great service, staff are friendly and professional. Food consistently good.

Such a wonderful evening. Staff were fabulous particularly Abbie, who was friendly, attentive, happy and had great customer service skills. The food was really delicious. I went for their amazing salad with rotisserie chicken. The chicken was perfectly cooked. The salad was fantastic with juicy pomegranate and light, delicious dressing. We went for sundaes for dessert - Eton Mess and Banoffee. They were perfect. They have quite a bit of parking and it’s a super convenient spot, right at the end of the link road to the A10.

Quiet and convenient good pricing

We ordered curry katsu, chicken wings, and a gluten-free burger for the main. They taste delicious, gluten free burger a bit dry. The food came quickly, and the dessert menu has a lot of options! We had sticky toffee pudding, and an apple crumble with custard and cheesecake. All of them are 5 star! Highly recommend, and I like it is not over sweet, another plus!

Cannot fault the food or any thing.

We have visited this lovely pub around 4 times now and we’ve had amazing food & service every time. The food is delicious and the portions are huge, you won’t leave hungry. We travel from Tottenham to eat here so we hope that tells you something. The staff are lovely and really attentive. On our visit today we were really looking forward to your beautiful roast dinner, we were slightly disappointed to hear that you were all out of roasts however, the manager came out to apologise which was lovely of him to do so. We weren’t disappointed that much though as all the food on the menu is delicious. We had the fish & chips instead which we were really happy with. Next time we will pre order as we can’t miss out on those lovely roast potatoes! This is by far the best pub in Hertfordshire.

A great family lunch and amazing service

I went for breakfast on Sunday to your pub, we found a table and chose what we wanted, I went to the bar to order, I was not greeted with hello or good morning, I said I wanted to order a breakfast, the person retorted table number, really blunt, I asked for poached eggs instead of fried and was told we don’t do poached eggs, but you do eggs Benedict , I also asked for brown toast , was told don’t do brown bread, REALLY, a restaurant that offers breakfast with no brown bread I find rediculous the person serving me was very blunt at all times, absolutely no customer service skills, and it was very clear she didn’t want to be there, as she was heard saying I better not get any sick calls today, the person had brunette hair and seemed to be in charge, the other blonde waitress was lovely, the brunette person also gave my daughter a dirty mug, I challenged it and was told it would be replaced with no apology , seriously bad attitude , I’m actually gobsmacked at the whole experience.

Staff a waste of time, this is directed at two female staff chatting at the end of the bar, totally blanking customers waiting to be served. Get rid of them,

“Potato Heaven! Fabulous sumptuous roast potatoes” The Sun Chefs have elevated the Sunday roast dinners to another level with what must be a new improved roast potato recipe, creating possibly the best roast potatoes in town and beyond. Full credit to the Chefs, please could the manager Jamie, pass on my extreme gratitude and appreciation. Twice this month, I have had the joy of the roast turkey dinner with obviously a generous helping of the sumptuous roast potatoes. Simply magnificent 10/10

How to spoil your favourite meals in one easy lesson. My wife loved the buttermilk chicken burger with sweet potato fries. No, they stopped doing sweet potato fries last year. Now I love the rotisserie chicken with peri peri sauce, and have convinced my wife that we keep coming for the past year and she has to put up with regular fries. So just been this lunchtime and guess what - they’ve stopped doing the peri peri sauce! Dear the Sun, if you want us to keep coming, please reinstate sweet potato fries and peri peri sauce.

It's OK for a quick bite to eat, it's nothing special but it doesn't pretend to be. It's a bit like Ronseal.

We had our daughter’s 21st birthday celebration here in the function room it was absolutely beautiful, the food was amazing everyone commented how nice food was and laid out . The staff were so helpful & really lovely from start to finish nothing was too much for them this place is beautiful and I highly recommend it , actually looking forward to few more celebrations in here . Thank you so much for providing a great evening for us .

We had a lovely retirement party on 28th June2024. Every member of staff we spoke to and met were professional friendly and so helpful. The Manager Jamie explained the pricing rates and felt it was excellent value. The food was very good. The bar staff on the night gave excellent service. I would highly recommend this establishment to deliver an event.

Had the vegetarian chesnut/sweet potato roast dinner. Very tasty, lots of veg, roast potatoes. Service was good and didn't wait long for our meals. Would visit here again.

Not been there for year..very nice

Our waitress, Tina, was very friendly and welcoming. She made sure that the meal I ordered was Gluten Free by checking what I had ordered with the kitchen. As I misunderstood the menu and ordered a salad unnecessarily, she allowed me to cancel the extra salad I had ordered. The roast chicken came nicely cooked; crispy on the outside and moist inside. So pleased with what I received.

We went here for lunch on a weekday between jobs on the way to a different place. This was actually far better. The fact that you could park with no fuss, the service was excellent, and so was the food on offer. I had the impressive cod and chips in my picture. It even had an imitation old newspaper under it to make it more nostalgic. Brilliant touch. Ooh, the banoffee sweet was great, too!

Had an early meal, staff friendly and responsive, basic meal but enjoyable, typical McMullen's venue. Reasonable food price but I think nearly a tenner for a glass of wine a bit over the top.

We hired the private room that the sun has to offers , it was great. The perfect size we had 24 for a sit down meal and more guest in the evening. I Couldn’t fault Hannah and all management team and staff . Service was amazing ,Food was great. Great when it comes to people with allergies, they take it very seriously.

This is the Regular size chicken Sunday roast dinner with pigs in Blankets as a side and my husband had the lamb. Food was served quickly too even when very busy. I had the cookie dough sundae for dessert too which was also very nice and my husband had the Biscoff sundae. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Went in after a funeral big enough to accommodate without booking ,

Went again yesterday as we go here every couple of weeks and again, such great sevice, so friendly and welcoming, food was absolutely beautiful and cant fault it, love going here as I know I will enjoy my food 100%, a must go to pub you won't be disappointed.

The starter and main was delicious but I was really looking forward to my cookie dough, but when we ordered desert they said the oven had turned off and not serving it anymore, it was only around 7:40 pm, i think this is extremely early to turn off oven and left me very sad without my cookie dough.

Large and quite varied menu, though there are a lot of chicken dishes. Good portions, very tasty. Well decorated and pleasant premises. While busy, the restaurant was set out so that we had comfortable space. What really made it for me was the exceptionally helpful and cheerful service.

Our family went here to try this restaurant out, and everything about it was amazing! The food came out really quick, and everyone i went with loved it so much! The waiters were really kind and the atmosphere too, it made me feel really nice, it was decorated nicely here and we all loved it! We are definitely coming back here again

Quite a regular on our way home wanted one drink at 730. Manager wanted £10 entry each. Rediculous we would be gone before the night kicked off Shocking management cost them a year of my money Idiot.

We were visiting Hoddesdon to see our six year old granddaughter appear in a dancing show at the local Spotlight theatre. She did well, recieving an award and medal so the family celebrated the event at the local Sun pub with an early evening meal and drinks. Arriving at 530pm on a Sunday night the car park was nearly full and the pub very busy. Decked out ready for Christmas the pub had a warm friendly family atmosphere. We ordered drinks and relaxed for 10-15 minutes whilst our table was made ready. The serving staff were attentive, friendly and helpful when we were making our selection of meals as not all dishes on the menu were available. We went for Hunters chicken, Scampi, Pizza, Chicken Roast and a Beef Roast dinner and weren't kept waiting long. When ordering deserts our granddaughter wanted a 99 Ice Cream cone and Grandma had a quiet word with our waitress to see if a candle could be added to the cone to help mark this special occasion. Despite the fact that they were busy it wasn't a problem and the ice cream cone with flake and lit candle was duly served to beeming smiles all round. We had a great evening and need to make a special mention of waitress Charlie and give her a really big thankyou from the whole family for looking after us for the evening, arranging the candle and helping to make lasting memories.
