Excellent food and great friendly service. A Tuesday evening so not busy, had a nice burger, pizza and steak. Will come again. Thanks! Could do with a more cosy atmosphere.

The Sugar Loaf hosted the after-party for my son’s christening and did such a great job! The food was incredible (especially the homemade scones) and the staff were really attentive. Holly, the manager, was brilliant at helping me organise everything in advance. I was able to swap out food options I didn’t like for ones I did and communication was really easy throughout. I would 100% recommend them as party hosts!

A great Sunday roast, generous portions, lashings of gravy and tasted really good. Great service all delivered with a smile and we will be back again. A very nice pub and would recommend booking in advance for Sunday lunch as it got busy quickly and no wonder as it is really good. Good to see a menu offering smaller portions at a reduced cost and loved having the choice of all 3 Sunday roast meats for the same price as a single Sunday roast meat. Nice touch and obviously a lot of hard work going on behind the scenes to make it a success so well done.

Incredible service at a very good price. Evening Saturday meal and the blonde/brown roots server /bartender provided the most efficient and friendly service we have experienced in any pub and some of the best anywhere. Under 20 per person: 57 pounds for two adults and a child with full meal, one dessert, orange juice and three beers /ciders. Not bad. The menu has a decent variety including vegan and vegetarian and children's options at a great price. The beef brisket was fantastic. Most of the food tasted fresh not frozen. Beer selection decent although no craft/independent beer options ; however there was a craft cider option (and three cider selections). Many dessert options. Perhaps they could maintain some cans and specify these are available at the bar. The atmosphere was a pleasant local pub atmosphere, although the furnishings were a bit tired and could do with some light investment. All in all, as a fellow diner said, better than expected.

Our first visit for food since new ownership and have to say it did not disappoint. Had a fab Sunday roast and highly recommend to all. Will certainly return when our diet allows

Fab pub grub meal for 5 of us. Steak and Ale pie was magnificent, beef burger also lovely. Really friendly and great service. With the quality of food and service and with a refurbishment in the offering this will be a great village pub.

My mother in law (God rest her soul) made the best Sunday roast I've ever tasted, until I ate the three meat Sunday roast at the Sugar Loaf this weekend! What can I say?? Phenomenal! Perfectly cooked meat, generous portions, quality vegetables, the stuffing loaf was just superb! Extra roasties and gravy, pigs in blankets, all the sauces, including fresh apple sauce! Well done to the new landlord, Doug and his crew! You're doing a tremendous job!!

Of the 3 ales displayed only one was available which was tired. The beer was cheaper than in other pubs in the area

Used to eat here and it was always nice. However the last couple of times I have been here the food has been awful, steak was tough, chips were cold, will not be eating here again. Discussed this with friends and advised them not to bother

Lovely little Village pub. We went to a Baby Shower held at this venue. It was really nice day. I could imagine what it would be like in the summer they have a great outside dining area.

Booked onLine. Did ask for i formation on Disable access nobody got back to me. Thought all places should have access. Welcoming staff however had no disable ramp for wheelchairs or disabled toilets. Didnt have most things on menu. We didnt recieve bill just told what the cost was.

Our Mothers Day lunch did not live up to expectations as despite attentive service, the food was a bit of a let down. Everything appeared to have been re-heated which meant overcooked vegetables (the cheesy brocoli was effectively a soft mush) and burnt, tough roast potatoes. The topside of beef was extremely chewy and two of our party were unable to finish it. It was a real shame because I had read decent reviews and gave this pub a try in the hope it would become a regular place to visit. It was evident that despite having a limited three course special menu for Mothers Day, the kitchen seemed to have lost control of quality. I cannot fault the table staff who were excellent despite dealing with a busy service.

4 years ago this was a straight forward boozer. The new management team, headed by Holly are making huge improvements and is worth a visit.

Arrived soggy with dogs to sit in under cover area for meal. Lovely warm heaters and press button to call for service. Friendly, prompt service. Excellent food at very reasonable prices. Good menu. I would highly recommend and will be back

Turned up one evening for a few drinks. Covid restrictions in place, so it was seating outside only. We could see there were a few free tables, so we dually waited at the gate. Staff came in and out of the pub whilst we waited 5 minutes with out any acknowledgement of us standing waiting, so we decided to leave, never to return.

Great atmosphere and service as ever! Just popped in for a quick drink with my dad... Loves a pint of ale, had the first of the IPA on which can always be a bit shakey, but it was perfect! Keep up the good work guys!

Popped in on Sunday for the first time as bored to death with the flying horse Clophill and watched the ARSENAL EVERTON GAME the obviously thrashed them Great place to watch sport on the large screen, but quiet when I went in but livened up. Good range of beers and lagers, filled rolls on the bar, and snacks,friendly bar staff and locals . This is much more like a proper pub, not fancy frippery and posers, also , there’s a pool table and juke box , remember them? None of that hideous nonedescript piped music that p.......s me off at the flyer.
