Gutted! £17 and starving I get stale inedible popadoms and butter chicken curry that looks like sandwich chicken meat in a sauce. Oh and no dips or chutney with the popadoms

Food was excellent, service was slow and forgetful, it's not even busy just 2 tables.

First time visit following the reviews from trip advisor and was not disappointed. Granted they were understaffed as I think they had forgotten wolves were playing on a Thursday night which is not the norm, but great food and highly recommended.

Arrived quite early on a Thursday evening and there was only another two guests eating. Seated straight away and drinks order was taken, although several options were unavailable, and the only draught was an IPA. When the food arrived, overall it was very enjoyable but an elderly gentleman (owner?) continued to hack and spit in the disabled toilet. This continued for several minutes whilst we were eating, all within earshot, so did not make for a pleasant experience. Also, there was absolutely zero atmosphere. No background music, just total silence, coupled with the odd conversation between the waiter and (possibly) kitchen over a two-way radio. Food was good, but won't be visiting again.

The positive part of the review is based on our first handful of visits. Sadly on our most recent visit we ended walking out without being served. We arrived and were seated straight away but it was clear the staff were busy and/or short handed as many tables were empty but hadn’t been cleared away. We sat without menus being offered to us or a drinks order taken for 20 minutes before giving up and walking out. We walked round the corner to the Darshan lounge and it was amazing in there, service and food unbelievably good. On previous visits we’d had some awesome food at The Subcontinent and the service was always excellent, but on Saturday night it was an insult…if you’re short staffed then just politely say no and don’t seat us. To leave us for 20 plus minutes was a joke. Such a shame, I’m sure if you go when quiet you’ll get excellent food. But we’ll be going to Dharshan from now on.

Stopped for food whilst in the area , food was delicious and decent portion sizes , recommend to anybody who is in the area

Wonderful place. Staff are extremely polite and welcoming. The food is amazing and tastes lovely. Honestly don't have any negative words to say. The only criticism is there could be a update in the interior, but other than that a great Indian restaurant.

Food was very nice, fresh and good portions. Friendly staff and very good value. Only negative is the toilet. We were told to use the disabled toilet near the front entrance, not sure If there were any others but this one needs a thorough deep clean ceiling to floor. For this reason I probably wouldn't go again.

On 30th Sept, I had my Son's 1st Birthday Celebrated at this place along with my Family and Friends. Around 35 people... I had Lunch time party and I could say we were very impressed by the outstanding service we received. Serving Staff was friendly, attentive, and handled all our requests with utmost professionalism. Awesome food Quality, Mouth-watering Manchurian, delicious meal... We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves !!! Recommended Authentic Indian restaurant ❤️💝

It was very quiet when we visited as the restaurant was just reopening after a party. However, we were welcomed in whilst they finished tidying up.

Scamming phone call from them, called and does not say anything, then hangs up. Dont know how they got my number either.

Extremely poor service. 8 of us had dinner here last night. When we arrived we were the only customers. Somehow they still managed to forget parts of our order entirely, and took 1.5 hours to bring out any food whatsoever. They also knocked a glass off our table which smashed on the floor, cutting one of our group. They then left the smashed glass there for 15 minutes before bothering to clear it up. When asked if they could sort it, we were told 'in 5 minutes'. The only saving grace was that when the food finally arrived it was nice.

You guys are such scammers, you accepted my order and the payment but did not prepare my food! Instead you decided to shut off your shop and hog on that money! I’ve not liked you ever and I thought of giving this place a final chance but now I definitely know it was a mistake.

Me and my friend came here and had lovely service and tasty food! I ordered the vegetable balti, plain naan and steamed rice and was really impressed with the flavour and portion size. The service was amazing and I really couldnt recommend it anymore. It was very quiet when we arrived but we did go quite early so I can imagine that around 7:30-8 it picks up and there is a busier atmosphere.

Even I doesn't want to give one star for food, I ever had such an worst biriyani in my life. Such a nasty one they provide me when i place order hyderabadi mutton and chicken dum biryani. Even I told the supplier mentioning which is worst but he happily giving the bill to pay.

When you first arrive at the restaurant you realise the front door window is broken, not the best start. When seated we were given worn out menus which doesn’t really give you a restaurant feel. So we ordered 4 cokes to start with, 4 bottles of tiny 200ml coke arrived, we also ordered various different dishes. The food was absolutely delicious so can’t fault it in anyway and well presented. Will definitely will be coming back for more. Our concern is the lack of cleaning to the place. Firstly clean your tables, replace your chairs and get rid off those disgusting pillows from the benches. Get rid of that deco from all the walls and introduce something that makes people feel your inside a restaurant. Inside looks dull and worn out with no atmosphere at all.

The samosa chaat was tasty but there is very little piece of Samosa only chicpeas which was very disappointed me

I have placed this review with conflicted feelings. I have been to the restaurant on numerous occasions and found the food excellent. However I decided to try delivery and I will never do it again. I ordered three different curries and three different naan breads and there was no difference in any of the curries or naan breads and there was no identification to tell you which curry/ naan bread was which. My opinion is if you want to go for a meal go here but for takeout go elsewhere for £58 you will DO better. I am therefore one disappointed customer.

Only 2 members of staff to serve 18. Took much too long, with drinks, then with food. Food nothing special. Friday evening no one hardly in.

Came up from Worcestershire to get a curry. I ordered 2 mains, butter chicken and curry chicken. They were both nice. We usually go to eat at the curry triangle but this place was almost that good.

Authentic Indian taste. Good ambience. Highly underrated, when it just might be the best Indian restaurant in Wolverhampton

On entering the restaurant looks very nice. Hadn't booked and got a table straight away. Ordered food and drinks which came quite swiftly. The naan breads were great I ordered a chicken tikka bhuna which was very very tasty. My friend ordered a vegetable malayan, which again the sauce was very tasty. But this was let down by what appeared to be prepacked frozen mixed veg and a ring of tinned pineapple. When I go out I expect fresh vegetables in meals not frozen. This is a shame as mine was very very tasty and enjoyed the surroundings. I suggest in the future they try harder to use fresh ingredients. Also I noticed on the menu poppadoms £1.95 which I think is very expensive so didn't bother having any.

Inexpensive but middling at best. A wide range of vegan options are said to be available according to their menu. On ordering I was informed that the vegan dishes are not available but some dishes “can be adapted so they are almost vegan.” I provided a couple of choices of starter dishes that I thought could be adapted to totally vegan and was informed the chef would be asked. No feedback or response we was provided and neither of the dishes mentioned was served. Despite this, we went to leave a modest tip as the waiter was on their own and doing their best. We were then informed that tips given by card are not passed on to the staff. What good was served was reasonable for the price. Really sympathise with the staff working here. They seem to be being exploited and will certainly not be returning.

The restaurant was nice and clean, the staff were friendly, and the food was great. We ordered a selection of curries and sides - my favourites were the Hydrabadi Curry Leaf Chicken (not too spicy for me), and the Aloo Tikki Chaat. There was a good selection of beers to accompany the food. We will definitely visit again and try more dishes from the menu.

We went for lunch time meal, no other customer's, clean restaurant. Food was reasonably good, value for money not so good.

Fantabulous experience of visiting there. Delicious food and Excellent staff service. A proper hygienic food served with superb service. It is worth visiting in The Sub Continent.

Hyderabad curry leaf curry is rubbish.

Food was excellent, however things are quite as they seem! I ordered and the waiter struggled to understand fluent English, which is forgivable, however when the walkie talkie came out and he passed the order to the kitchen I was stunned..... I was starting to suspect the kitchen was in Dudley, The walkie talkie has only one setting... very loud. Comical service, but food was good which is the main thing. ROGER OUT

First visit here was with a friend to seek sanctuary from pubs packed with football fans with a Wolves home game on. Glad we did. Attentive and friendly staff, delicious fresh meals. So I went back with another friend, and it was no fluke. We both agreed that we would be back, and all three of us will make it our "go to" when all three of us are together in Wolverhampton.

A return visit with another friend because of the experience last time. As they say in America "That's two for two". As good as last visit. Friendly and helpful staff, delicious food and a completely pleasant experience. So much that both friends I have brought here think all three of us should make it "our regular" when we meet.

The most pathetic service ever received. The staff was very rude , and the service was very very slow.

I never normally leave reviews but felt compelled too as this was the best curry I’ve ever had in my life! After a 4 hour drive to watch a crushing defeat away at the molineux this restaurant salvaged our weekend away. From a sensational salivating starter to a Dhansak that brought a tear to my eye the entire meal was perfectly seasoned and spiced. My partner said his jalfrazi was most amazing one he’d ever tasted, and he normally sticks loyal to our local being the best. Our server was very friendly and attentive and we felt very welcomed and made to feel at home. I really can’t recommend this place enough and I’m gutted we live so far away but will be sure to return if we find ourselves in Wolverhampton next football season.

We went for an early lunch on a Tuesday, so due to the strange day/time, there were no other customers in. Despite this, the service and food were really good, and we really enjoyed the experience. We're not local. Otherwise, we'd definitely go back again.

Colleagues from work suggested this place and it did no disappoint! The food was absolutely delicious and the price was very good too! I tried the Jalfrezi and my partner had the Keema Matar, so I got to try both! Highly suggest both of these dishes! The cheese naan bread was probably the best I’ve ever had. The food is nice and spicy so if you’re sensitive to spice, maybe ask for it to be a bit milder. We will definitely be back! Note: It’s a licences bar, so it’s not “take your own drinks.”

Lovely restaurant with great service and delicious food!

Second visit to the subcontinent and the food is immense. Everything is prepared fresh and you can tell when you are served your dish. This means waiting a little longer to be served but get yourself a starter and trust me the wait for the main will be worth it. Chicken pakora starter was amazing, 4 fabulous pieces of chicken breast. Attentive hosts and a lovely atmosphere, we’re were there early-ish 7pm and it wasn’t busy, this restaurant deserves to be packed! The food is cooked in a fusion style and it makes it tasty and unique. Recommend trying this lovely place (they do takeout too if you can’t get to town)

Had fairly high expectations from the menu and wasn’t disappointed. Chilli Paneer is one of my favourite dishes and I don’t find many places that either serve it or cook the dish well. Happy to say the chilli paneer at the Subcontinent was exactly what I’d hoped it would be. Everything ordered was looked and tasted like it freshly made - if we visit Wolverhampton again this will be our restaurant choice. Only issue was slightly slow service - it was a Sunday evening and there wasn’t that many people in & when I mentioned we had a show to get too we did get the food very soon after.

As our usual place for a curry has closed, we thought we would have a look around. What a smashing place the Subcontinent is! The staff were friendly and went of if their way to explain the meals we ordered. The meals were way more than we expected, tasted fantastic and were very filling. Definitely will be eating there again.

The location is very near to high street..The ambiance is nice with nice music..The service is fast..The quantity and quality of food is worth the price..Halal Indian food

I had my engagement meal at The Subcontinent and the staff were so helpful with arranging the evening. The food was amazing, everything came out hot and flavourful. We had so many guest saying they would come back to the restaurant again. Thank you to the whole team, we really appreciate the effort that was put in.

Unfortunately what we had was not good we ordered spicy fish which we asked for it to be well done as my husband has been a pescatarian for 20 years well after a long wait the crust on the fish was very well done and burnt in places and the inside was like paste...and slimy now we've eaten fish in Indian restaurants polish Jamaican Italian you name it we've done it and all over the world and have never tasted anything like that when we complained/queried we were told that's how it comes...and that's the fish well 🤮🤢 no thanks..we also had chilli prawns which was only slightly better the batter all but fell off and thr sauce was not great and for 10.95 we wanted to at least like them..we've had these lots of places and these were the worst I'm afraid...I hate giving bad reviews but even the response was not adequate and a slight discount or offer to replace as it literally only had 2 tiny bits out and a few finger marks were we squished into a paste and the rest of it was whole..anyway .that's my experience

Poor quality of food. No taste. Popodums dont come with any sauce as they would with other restaurants. Chapati not up to scratch and burnt.

Went in the afternoon so it was quiet. Food was good. I especially liked the pani puri they were great there's about 6 medium sized puri per person. The palak paneer was good too.

Possibly the best biryani I’ve had in more than fifty whilst travelling on business. Great value, big portions and friendly staff. Wel worth a visit.

Wonderful food here ! Very good attentive service. The chicken Tikka starter was probably one of the most tender chicken I have ever had in a restaurant. The Tikka naan and chapati were also amazing. IPA on tap. They box up any leftovers for you...

One of the best Punjabi style veg food that I had in a restaurant since long. Service time could be slightly better but taste compensates everything and customer goes back satisfied. Great ambience and we left the restaurant with a sense of satisfaction after completing a cup of hot Indian tea.

We ate only vegan food. Utterly delish. Onion bhajis were huge! Very reasonable price for food. Staff were friendly , knowledgeable and don't hassle you to buy drinks. Definitely will go back. I am already dreaming of the Alooo Gobi

We just had a fabulous meal here - the wait staff were so pleasant and the food was amazing. We loved the gol gappa (never tried before - super fun) and everything had wonderful flavor and freshness. If we’re ever in the area again, we’d go back in a heartbeat!

Absolutely lovely food. Had the samosa chaat and it was the real deal, tangy and spicy with a satisfying crunch from the samosa! The paneer dish was creamy and tasted so good. Highly recommended!

I came to Wv. for work related purpose. I was missing my ghar ka khaana & The restaurant I found there was the subcontinent. Believe me!! They have the best Indian food & it is also affordable… Loved it!! Would visit again for sure!!
