Desi Yew Tree in Wolverhampton

Found this place by pure chance and what a great find. Was visiting with four family members and we all loved the food. Very reasonably priced and generous portions. Highly recommend.

First time here with my friend as she has been a couple of times and recommended it. It's a place of mixed culture which was lovely to see, old and young too. The food was absolutely superb, best Korma I've ever had, very friendly and welcoming staff, great service. I think this is our go to place now for our catch ups. Definitely recommended 😊

The walk from town isn't exactly glamorous, but it's worth every step. The team have decked the place out in an industrial style. It's nice that the kitchen is on show too. The mixed grills are decent, the nanns are fluffy, but the star of the show is the keema with chicken. Nice job. Seriously, check it out.

Heard about the pub for a long time and the food and service is about as good as you'll get in Wolverhampton Food is cheap for the quantity Food is freshly cooked and you can see the chefs making the food while you're sat down. All the food is amazing but the naan breads and the tandoori meats are spot on Beers are also cheap compared to other pubs in the area. Parking is on the street

Went here with a big group and we were well accommodated. First time I had been and it looked different to the places I'm used to going but somewhat quirky. Tvs at most of the tables for if you're watching football etc. Friendly helpful staff. The good was stunning to be honest. The vegetarian grills and the curry were really tasty would go again.

First time visiting here and as it’s become best in Wolverhampton we just had to come and try it. Omg food is amazing best Indian food I’ve had in ages, and the sizzlers are out of this world and great portion sizes. My partner wanted the mix tikka masala which they don’t usually do but the chef agreed to do it for him. This needs to be on the menu according to my partner. They deserve there reward in my eyes. 👀 🥘 💯‼️👌🏻❤️

Lovely amazing keema rice and crispy wings, salt and chilli prawns my husband who only eats fish said they were the best he's ever tasted, fish curry was delicious, my only criticism was that the potatoes would be lovely if like the pic on the menu and dry fried with spices and onions I'm not a fan of sweet sauces, but I won't let it takeaway from the fact everything else was amazing, my new fave place I'd have to say for me it beats the Bradford Arms so 5 stars from me..its a little off the track so I would imagine to find it someone would have to recommend it like they did for us, but I've already told my grown kids and best mate about it..

We hadn't been for a while and decided to go there for our anniversary. I was so disappointed with the food and portion size. Still, friendly and helpful staff, but the food is a no for me. Sadly, we won't be returning

Curry’s are a disgrace , too much sauce and very low meat and some off meat from grill , uncooked onions and base.. looks like change of cheff. Should have tried the grill. Very pricy

Have been here a few times and the food has always been great. You pay for food and drinks at the bar and there isn’t table service. The surroundings are quite prosaic and it is more of a pub serving food than a restaurant although, as I said, food is very good. It can get packed and you can only pre-book for larger groups. Food prices very reasonable and they try to cater for everyone.

Great place for some tasty sizzling grills. Always share a large grill with Naan, Fries and Massala Sauce. Never had a bad meal. And everyone I have recommended all say the same. 😀

Big group of us met up for my sons birthday, all the food was amazing, staff are lovely and there's always a well stocked bar, prices are really reasonable too, well worth a visit. Highly recommend Petes Special curry and the special naan.

Popped in whilst solo travelling for a gig in town. Happy to report this is A+ grade British Indian style food. The area is a bit post-industrial/slightly run down style but don't be put off, inside it's a glorious pub/curry house combo with tons of space and absolutely amazing food. Had a lamb madras, naan, chilli chicken starter and a Cobra for just under £30 and everything was god-tier delicious and service and vibes were great. Would be in here all the time if I was local!

Been in tonight, had small grill and masala chips, pint of Cobra, both food and service were excellent, been coming here 11 years and always made to feel welcome, see you next time!

Superb all round we were really made to feel welcome. Tried a few different drinks and they were all good pints at a really fair price. The food was another level out of this world both thimes we ate here. It gets 10/10 on both occasions simple as that. Perfection end of story. 👌👍👏👏👏👏

On a trip to see some bands around the corner we stumbled on this place. Friday night we just had some drinks and were made to feel very welcome indeed. So Saturday we turned up for food before the gig. It was absolutely stunning what we had and again we were made totally welcome what a great place to be. Sunday back again a few hours before the the gig this timw upstairs. Totally relaxed food ordered fantastic. When the food arrived we had seen nothing like it pure scrumptiousness. It was out of this world nothing else to say really just superb and at fantastic value for money. I only wish it was back where live in the norheast 😭😭😭. I will be back hopefully 🤞🤞🤞one day.

Visited while working in the area. The pub is quite hard to find in an industrial estate but at least it's not pretentious. The food was decent; there was plenty of it and it was cheaper than most Desi pubs. I'd definitely go back if I can.

Friend and I popped in, not knowing it existed. Place is modern and friendly inside. Staff were welcoming, Upstairs seating, food was nice and reasonable price.

Came here for a mixed grill, good portion size and flavourful platter. 2 of us shared a large mixed grill and we still took some home! Tasty madras sauce and decent selection of lager. Footy was on, nice vibe.

The food and service here is great. Food is really fresh and cooked to spice you like. Good veggie options as well as meat platters. Staff are really friendly and efficient which is often under appreciated but they were all lovely!

First time here though been meaning to try it for a while as it's been recommended by a few people. Really liked the decor. Staff very friendly and food delicious and plentiful. Only downside is they don't take bookings for 2 people so you do have to take your chance on walking in and potentially having a wait but we went early and got seated straight away.

Brilliant food and really good service. They don’t take reservations but it’s a bit place and there were plenty of spare tables, even on a Friday night.

While the buttered paneer was pleasant, it only contained six pieces of paneer and tasted more like a korma than buttered paneer. I believe that the restaurant could make some changes to enhance their food quality and overall customer experience. For example, they could focus on improving the texture and flavor of their dishes and ensuring that they are cooked to perfection. Very disappointed. Not what I was expecting 😕

I must say that I was rather disappointed with the meal I had here recently. I know it usually has rave reviews, but my veggie sabji was not at all good. It was obvs a bag of frozen veg, hardly cooked, in a dubious sauce, not authentic in any way. I have had this dish several times and I know what it should be like. I did mention it to the waiter, who did ask if I wanted another one (why would I). I also thought the portions were rather small. Maybe they give more attention to the meat dishes, they do seem to be more fashionable these days, who knows. I was really looking forward to going too, so wasn't looking for problems. I will say that the nan bread was particularly nice, and also the rice was good. The pub itself looks great.

The food is great, the prices for the large grill is great value.

The best Indian bar and grill in wolverhampton without a doubt

We booked a take out and it was fantastic. I thought I’d missed a portion and my husband went back but completely my fault I, d put it behind a microwave by mistake. They gave us another portion with no issues. I rang to apologise and they were lovely and the food was great. Great hospitality and great sizzler and daal.

I canvassed four 'in the know' friends prior to my trip to Wolverhampton and they all recommended this place, which really surprised me as I'm unaware that any of the four know one another? It didn't disappoint. More of a pub than restaurant, with pub style service, the interior is nothing special, nevertheless, the place was packed. The service was quick but attentive and the food was astonishing. Really top notch. I opted for onion bhaji and himalayan curry, both of which were amongst the best I've eaten. Incidentally, the bhajis came with a sort of smokey barbecue sauce - a novelty but also brilliant. Rather cryptically, two people mentioned that the competition was both prohibitively expensive and 'for footballers'. I've no idea what this means, but if I return to Wolverhampton I'm returning here. Excellent and a must vist for non-footballers(?).

To be fair it's a former back street pub that has been done out nicely to provide mainly Indian cuisine and remain a pub. A stand alone Indian restaurant no way. The food was tasty enough although the portions were less than anticipated for the price. The accompanying chips and breads were well below par. For goodness sake it's not that hard to make fresh chips and naan breads should not be like a roti slightly puffed up. Yoghurty minty sauce out of a squeezy bottle? Really? Beer prices are below the usual restaurant rip off but for pure food value to quality there are a lot better out there within a few miles.

Oh my. What a great find once we actually found it. The menu was good and the food was delicious. We went at 6pm and it was very busy. Told food would be 20-25 mins but we didn't wait that long. Chicken and lamb were tender and the sauces flavourful. The plain rice was fluffy. Portions were huge and the cost is reasonable. Definitely our number 1 place in Wolverhampton for a curry.

First time visit, going to a gig at nearby KK's Steel Mill and had seen great reviews. Not disappointed, I had a really lovely mixed chicken and lamb madras with pilau rice. Terrific flavour and a decent amount of heat but at a good level for a Madras. Owner and staff very helpful and service was excellent.

First visit here and will certainly not be our last. Don’t let the exterior or place put you off going-when we pulled up I admit I was apprehensive as this place is tucked away in the back streets of wolverhampton and is very unassuming from the outside. However, once inside the decor is fresh and modern and clean and tidy. You order at the bar and the food came very quickly. The large mixed boneless platter was plentiful with king prawns included too. The best fish pakora I’ve tasted!! Naans beautiful and fresh. The only thing I’m not keen on is the yoghurt duo comes in a squirty bottle, there was also not o on salad which would’ve been nice (think you may have to pay separately for this) The price is on par with other desi’s but this is my new fave. I’ll recommend and most definitely return!

Situated in a run down industrial area the exterior isn't very reasuring. Decor is basic with much use made of scaffolding poles. The window into the kitchen is reasuring and one can see the chefs at work. We had a very good meal, well cooked and generous portions. Lots of meat, decent sized pieces too, in flavourful sauces. The rice was lovely and fluffy and the Naans soft, light and delicous. We would have liked a beer with the food but only keg eurofiz clones on offer nothing local, so stuck to Adams Ale.

We have been visiting Desi Yew Tree for the last 5 or 6 years and we have never had a bad meal. The staff are always very welcoming and polite. The pub, restaurant holds a great atmosphere with such a great mix of people. Sometimes ordering a mixed grill, others a curry.
