We went here on recommendation not knowing what to expect. Everything was perfect from the minute we arrived to when we left. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. We love the the idea of having various street food places to choose from! We will definitely be going back! I had a paneer masala with onion bhajis and they were the BEST onion bhajis that I’ve every tasted! Thank you providing such lovely food and atmosphere!

We walked into town after a trip to waterworld with our 2 children (5 & 3) uncertain of where we were going to have dinner. We wondered down towards the Chy bar, a place we remember from years ago and decided to take a look at their menu. The bar wasn't open but we went over a looked at the menu which was situated at the bottom of the stairs, only a smallish menu but sounded unusual and interesting. However, having your kids we weren't sure if this would be suitable. A member of staff was writing on the board, so we asked if they have a children's menu to which she replied yes! Wonderful! But not open for another 15mins (6pm)- not so good with children that were starving!! So we went outside and walked round the block and then feeling uninspired headed back there! And Im so pleased we did! Greeted with smiles we had a choice of where to sit, and chose to sit looking at the beautiful beach below. Quickly the member of staff brought us the kids menu along with colouring pens! The table cloth was thick brown wrapping paper, which the kids were told they could colour on once they'd finished their picture. This was to their delight and they say happily designing their own tablecloths. The member of staff was attentive and helped us choose between a selection of yummy sounding options, informing us it was 2-4-1 Thursday on all main meals! Fantastic news! With this news we ordered the satay chicken starter, pad Thai and beef bunny stew? mains with a side of garlic and rosemary chips. The kids meals came out relatively quickly, both having chicken gougons, chips and sweetcorn. It all looked lovely and fresh and the gougons were homemade. The kids tucked in and out starter came, which had a lovely side of leaves with it and 4 big skewers- plenty to share. We waited probably 20-30 mins after the starter for our main to come out. Which tbh was fine as the kids were still eating and we're still occupied with the colouring. The beef bunny thing (can't remember it's name) was absolutely delicious! Full of flavour and meat. It was really nicely presented in a half loaf of bread that had been scooped out, with a lovely side of raw shredded carrots, onions, fresh coriander and dressing. The pad Thai looked nicely presented although didn't look as appetising as my beef thing. Having said that my husband said that it was really tasty and that its appearance didn't do it justice, only because the colours were all quite pale but he said it was bursting with flavour and that there was plenty of it. We also had a side of garlic and rosemary chips, these were more like wedges and maybe had been a little over cooked but were tasty all the same but tbh I didn't really need them in the end as there was so much on my plate already!! The kids also wanted pudding (of course) and enjoyed a scoop of ice cream. They didn't have any vanilla left but the kids were more than happy with the coconut which also came with strawberries (their favourite!) we shared a portion of sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. Again was very tasty, although for me sticky toffee needs a smothering of toffee on the top which this didn't have but you could taste toffee in the pudding. All in all a really enjoyable meal, at reasonable prices (made better with the 2-4-1) in a relaxed unpretentious atmosphere.

I went here with a friend for a long awaited catch up & night out without the kids. When we walked in the staff were really attentive & helpful, we were seated at one of the window seats over looking the bay. The menu is great, a variety of new choices that I haven't seen on any other menu in Cornwall & fantastic flavours. Great atmosphere, relaxed & fun. Highly recommend giving it a try.

I booked a table for 20 ladies celebrating my birthday! The options for food was brilliant and everyone loved it. We had a glass of fizz on arrival and the staff were so friendly and attentive. Their cocktail menu isn't to be overlooked. We especially loved the gin & basil smash ... Will most definitely be back! Thanks for a lovely evening !

We got our portions and ate them overlooking the sea sat on benches on the green beside the Aquarium. Generous portions of Pad Thai and Pad Kae Mao, tasted perfect, just like we ate in Thailand, and served by cheerful staff.

We came here for Valentines day and although the food was very nice, the service wasn't great. Our initial waitresses were quite stern as there was some confusion about the set meal. The food was tasty but the vegetarian option looked a lot more limited than the meat eaters, and the price was basically the same. It's really a place you'd want to get take away from rather than sit in because the atmosphere is non-existent. A little ambient music would go a long way.

While on a week long holiday we visited this fantastic restaurant twice with how much we loved it. The menu is extensive and has a wide selection of different options. The staff are lovely and very knowledgeable with the full menu and all ingredients. With one of us being gluten free this restaurant was perfect for our experience.

We were seated by a delightful Thai waitress who promptly took our drink orders. While reviewing the menu, we learned that, except for one serving, they were out of chicken dishes. While the waitress was apologetic, we couldn't hide our disappointment. Since the four of us had hoped to order various chicken menu options, following a discussion amongst ourselves, we felt we wouldn't receive our desired meals and decided to leave as the alternatives weren't what we would have enjoyed. I am giving this review a rare 2 star rating because we had booked well in advance and were looking forward to a special family celebratory meal here. We left £15 out of pocket without even lifting a fork. Instead of taking responsibility for their own shortcomings, Ploy Thai attempted to blame guests on another table for their large order of chicken dishes rather than themselves directly for their insufficient stock management.  Furthermore, they could have easily visited the nearby Tesco store, which was still open, as they had enough staff to briefly manage this, given the time staff spent conversing amongst themselves in the reception area. Moreover, a £1 discount on drinks, which the restaurant knew we would not have ordered in retrospect, demonstrated a lack of genuine concern or empathy for the nuisance to us having to find another restaurant to dine at very late notice. I would also recommend prospective customers to view the menu first if you are on a budget, as there have also been some significant menu price increases, which some may find unjustifiable.
