Good choice for gluten free although beans came cold so have to ask for them to be reheated. Cheesy chips were dry and difficult to eat despite having beans with them. Everyone else seemed to enjoy the normal fish and chips and sausage and chips.

We came here on a Sunday around 4pm, my daughter is coeliac so we struggle to find chip shops that do gluten free. She had the cheesy chips and we had the fish and 2 battered sausages. All the food was cooked fresh and the gluten free was cooked separately and served separately. They even made some gluten free batter scrumpies for her. The food was delicious and hot. Will definitely be back.

Has to be one of the worst I’ve had in Weston so far. Had Chips and Beans, which I think is a simple order. Chips were cooked fresh, yet they were dry and tasteless. This place has gone through multiple owners, each time they make the same errors in the basics. You’re right beside Papas, Mediterranean BBQ, Waterfront and the Cove! At least try to get the same or above their quality. Won’t be returning, may have been a one off but not worth the second try.

We had high hopes for this takeaway as they cook everything fresh, which usually means great quality. However, the wait was much longer than expected, and unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to expectations. The scampi was overcooked and burnt, making it tough and unpleasant to eat. The chips, despite being freshly made, were dry and completely lacking in flavour. For the time spent waiting, I expected much better. It’s a shame because the idea of freshly cooked food is great, but if the end result is this disappointing, it defeats the purpose. Wouldn’t rush back 😢

Great food and service. Everything was cooked fresh. Curry sauce and mushy peas really added to our fish and chips. Nicely presented in boxes.

We visited here particularly because one of our party is GF and as chippy’s go this offers a really good selection. The food itself was enjoyable and flavoursome the only reason it’s not a 5 is I found the batter more on the flabby side rather than crisp. I appreciate some will appreciate this way round. Curry sauce and fishcake was great aswell as portion size.

Worst chips ever. Had fish and chips, and to be fair, the fish was ok, but the chips were hard and tasteless. A bit like oven chips, and nothing like chip shop chips. They lay heavy on the stomach. Due to the location, and no parking, I really do suggest, that you try to get it right, as no one will be buying from you.

Had fish and chips this evening, they were excellent. All cooked to order, we both had had large cod and chips. As well as being a takeaway there is seating, we sat in. Friendly, pleasant staff. Will be returning, highly recommend.

Visited “The Strange Catch” fish & chip shop following reviews. You will definitely not be disappointed. Excellent food cooked to order. We ordered fish, chips, sausage & mushy peas. The fish came with homemade tartar sauce & a chunk of lemon. The fish was cooked to perfection, the batter was light and did not overpower the fish. The chips were also great as was the sausage. The mushy peas were not toxic looking like you sometimes get from chip shops. Will definitely be visiting again next time we are in Weston-super-mare.

Excellent quality food. Freshly cooked. Lovely crispy batter and great fish. Generous portions - especially of the curry sauce. Tables and chairs supplied are no frills but when the service is so good, who cares!? Pleasant, friendly staff who checked to see of our food was ok on 2 occasions. Thank you.

Gluten free fish and chips available whenever they are open. They completely understood my needs as a Coeliac and I felt safe eating there. I had small cod and chips to take away. The batter was so light and crispy and the home made tartare sauce is yummy. Highly recommend.

Fantastic quality fish and chips, cooked to order, the best we’ve had in years! We had small fish, regular chips and peas and there was enough for both of us. Crispy batter, white flesh not over cooked, and great chips that were also crispy and not greasy. Fab!

After researching GF friendly options for our visit to WSM, we had no doubt in our mind that we would visit 'The Strange Catch.' My daughter really struggles to get decent fish and chips. Her coeliac is very severe and when she has a 'glutening' She is severely poorly so we are SO sceptical where we eat. However, the facebook page, 'Coeliacs eat out too' made us feel that this would be a safe place - and boy, it did not disappoint. A whole GF menu with extremely aware staff. Able to show and explain the frying system, wearing gloves to serve, offering GF vinegar etc - and she had no reaction - bonus! We sat in and ate as a bonus - this is not a restaurant, but has a table for four and two large benches. The portion sizes were huge and the food was delicious. We 100% recommend this place

As one might guess going from my profile picture, I'm a keen motorcyclist. Unfortunately motorcyclist and 'biker' are synonymous so when searching for new places to go and, in particular, new rest stops it becomes necessary to search the interweb for "biker cafes". I did this very thing yesterday, being at a loose end and fancying a ride to somewhere I've never been before, but without doing the whole 200 miles for fish & chips thing. So I punched "biker cafes" into Google and one of the places it suggested was The Bike Shed Cafe, next to the George Inn, just off the Gordano services exit of the M5. Suited up, I headed out for a pleasant enough ride and eventually stopped at The Bike Shed Cafe. With it being a bank holiday I fully expected it to be heaving with bikers, erm, sorry, motorcyclists. On arriving, though, there was only one other bike in the car park. As I was taking off my gloves and helmet the other guy on a motorbike approached his bike, as he was just leaving. We had a few minutes chat and a laugh among one another that we'd both done the same thing; asked Google to suggest a new place and had ended up here. As it happens, The Bike Shed Cafe caters more for your outdoorsy types and looking at the rack of mountain bikes just outside, the penny finally dropped that motorcyclists aren't quite the demographic they were targeting when this brainchild was first born into this world. The other guy and myself had a bit of a chuckle about that. However, my amusing (or not) anecdote about how I found this little place aside, let's get to the good stuff. Because good it absolutely is, and in reality I don't suppose they care whether you turn up on a motorcycle, a mountain bike or on horseback, we all spend the same money after all. The Bike Shed Cafe is a small annexe next to the George Inn. One presumes they are mutually affiliated. There is ample parking and being on the main road it is not difficult at all to find. The Bike Shed itself is a small outbuilding at the end of the carpark with a pleasant decked area adjacent for outdoor seating. It all looks and feels quite modern and well thought out. Inside I was greeted by a couple of nice young ladies who took my order and brought it out to me. The coffee was quite excellent - let's be honest, even in a world where it is impossible to throw a tea bag without hitting a coffee shop, really good coffee is not that common. I'm pleased to report that my americano with oat milk was at least a 9/10. On display at the counter was a vast selection of sweet cakey things which looked so tempting, but I'm trying to lose weight so I did my best to resist, but it was touch and go! I also ordered a cheese and chilli jam toastie, and again I was impressed with my choice. The bread was nice and thick and the cheese was oozing out of the sandwich so there was no skimping on any of the ingredients. Unfortunately, my diet was put on hold a bit yesterday after all! It came with a bitter green garnish of salad, but a few crisps on the side in addition would not have been unwelcome. Overall, though, it was most excellent and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this little coffee stop to anyone. It's highly unlikely but I hope my review gets enough attention from the motorcycle community to make this place a different kind of Bike Shed and next time I stop by there are a couple of dozen 'bikers' enjoying coffee and toasties in the bank holiday, ahem, sun.

I booked this place for a two day training event in one of their small meeting rooms (The Beatles Room). A stunning and different location, overlooking the lake…best of all was the food…breakfast, lunch and afternoon cake, all except t ing with really good service. I will definitely use again when I’m working in this part of the country.
