Sorry for the delay in posting, We came here at the end of May this year, the staff were very friendly and helpful they even catered for my daughter who really struggles with certain foods coming into contact with each other and has lactose intolerance, the chef was most helpful and even came out to chat with us, the food was excellent and well worth it. We are looking forward to going back hopefully on our way back from Hampshire 23rd Aug 2024. Thank you to all the team.

Steak night special. Great price with wine. Steak weren’t as juicy or tender as they had been in a bath! I prefer mine as it is. Would recommend as other food looked lovely and we had a cracking bottle of wine

The staff were nice and very accommodating...we waited an hour for food (staff very apologetic as hectic with drays) we were a bit disappointed with choice and felt a couple of the meals weren't very nice but ham hock and chips was lovely

Disappointed with the service and we were overcharged by £10 the staff need to be trained better and no one seems to be in charge we would not go again.

I love this pub. Friendly bar staff. I have found Locals are friendly and open to chat. The chef is amazing and always happy to accommodate people's needs and tastes. I enjoy the selection of ale which changes reg ( always have London pride on tap though) so this is my favorite pub.

What a little gem of a pub!! Sadly no photos, but I can attest to the food being fabulous. I loved the creativity of the chef. Incredible scotch eggs, and his quirky Indian chocolate orange with a curry anglaise - whilst it sounds wrong on paper - was one of the best things I’ve had in yonks!!! Great local pub with cosmopolitan content. We loved it! 😍

This is a treasure of a pub. The staff are really friendly and the local's are happy to chat. What marks this pub out from others is the great selection or beers and tasty wines. They also cater for those who are not drinking alchol or are driving with a great selection of non-alcoholic drinks that actually taste great. The chef here is unbelivably good. We have dined during one of his Thai evenings and the food is beyond belief. This pub is doing things right when it comes to Roasts as well. A Big sharing veg (bowl after bowl keeps coming out) along with a great selection of meats. The sharing roast is brilliant and the quality of ingredients is top notch. They also have an excellent menu on offer during the week as well, in the pictures we had the Breakfast Scotch Egg, Pig Croquettes, Steak and the Sticky Biscoffee pudding. All amazing. - Wednesday is steak night which is 2 steaks and a bottle of wine for £40 which is brilliant value.

There aren't many pubs where the chef brings his handwritten menu to your table! We had the pork and peppercorn pie, and it was fantastic! The pastry was truly melt-in-the mouth. Delicious! We also tried the homemade marmalade ice-cream and that was truly amazing. The landlord was very welcoming and friendly. We had no hesitation in booking to return in two days time. Can't recommend highly enough.

If you stop anywhere in Blandford Forum for some food and a beer, make this your top choice. The staff were spot on, with the chef even greeting us and talking about food, they were great with the dog, who had the roam of the garden when no one was out there, the food was awesome, all cooked to order and made using locally sourced ingredients, lot of which which were made in house! Definitely give these guys a shout, you really won't regret it!

We arrived here unannounced, tired and hungry, but that was no problem. Not even on Valentine's Eve, in the company of 3 children under 5 years old. We had a delicious meal. Deliciously tender meat and the best fries during our stay in England!

Havent eaten but heard that the food is very good. But a friendly young man behind the bar and a cosy, warm atmosphere.

This Pub takes you back in time it's small Cosy and very welcoming. The Menu is totally Gluten free which is amazing if you're a Coeliac. They have been very clever and made everything GF and so can cater for everyone without the worry of cross contamination. We went with friends and they have friends who are frequent diners. We will definitely go back as next time I'm ordering the Fish and Chips which is really difficult to buy battered if you're a Coeliac but no problem for this pub. Can't wait to return.

We’ve recently started visiting The Stour since it reopened and it’s a great little country pub. We ate here this evening for the 1st time after hearing great things… the service was slow, as mentioned in previous reviews, and they clearly need more staff (not unusual in the hospitality sector right now) however the food was excellent, the wine was cold and the staff were polite and friendly. Clearly the owners care about the business and customers, and the chef cooks to a high standard. The Asian pork belly was absolutely fantastic. We can put up with slow service, thats relatively easy to put right, but where The Stour wins is the quality of the food. We’ll definitely be back again soon.

Literally the most dire food I have ever tasted. The steak was ridiculously chewy, rocket unwashed and fried fish tasted frozen. Either the people leaving good reviews have absolutely zero food standards or they're fake reviews. The waitress was miserable and nearly turned away our custom upon arriving. Would unfortunately not recommend this place for food. At all.

Lovely cosy pub and the food was terrific, I would say this is definitely the best place to eat in the area.

There are quite a few pubs in Blandford Forum the Stour is probably one of the better food focused pubs. It also stocks decent local beers. Each night the landlord has a different offer on the Wednesday night when we popped in for a drink, steak and wine deals featured, whilst on the Thursday night when we ate an excellent meal, all double G & Ts were £6.

Excellent food, attentive service, and a brilliant atmosphere. The menu has a good amount of choice and the dishes seem to always be adapting. The food has to be some of the best in the area, and the staff are genuinely interested in feedback. An excellent range of drinks and several regularly changing guest beers. Very happy to have the Stour Inn as one of our local pubs.

The food was good. However, waited ages for the food and when chased for service food was delivered individually so the first served was almost finished before second delivered which was started before the final dish was delivered. I'm no prude but people coming out the kitchen swearing doesn't encourage you to return.

I can honestly say that the food produced by Adam ( the Chef) is definitely on a par with the food served on the Orient Express, thank you, absolutely delicious, will definitely recommend and return

This pub is a credit to blandford now and then. I lovely place to visit to anybody that comes to blandford, its a lovely find and anybody that doesn't make it here has missed out tremendously. Either by speaking to the staff or locals that frequent the establishment. The food, refreshments or just looking at the photos of the past on the walls. A place that you will come back to time and time again, lovely 😍

Nice place. We had dinner in the cozy garden. Came just as the kitchen was opening and waited almost an hour for food. That was ok. Wery good burgers and fries. Had expected that we could have english traditional food. Wery nice girls served us.

Maybe writeups have got mixed but we thought we would be beside a river - and weren't! Shabby inside & outside.

First visit to the Stour inn and first impressions very good, the guy behind the bar very nice and helpful, the pub is nice, real traditional feel. The drinks and food are a lot cheaper than the crown just down the road ! We both enjoyed our burgers and chips both delicious and would highly recommend. The only let down was the coleslaw, see photo, it was brown lettuce mixed with carrots, onion and salad cream , disgusting! I did speak to the very young waitress and she went off and spoke to chef and came back with a bowl of white cabbage coleslaw and said sorry, after we had finished are food. We expected the sorry but, come on front of house, the duty manager should have sorted this not a 15 year old and why serve second rate food anyway, we did say sent the chef out but clearly didn’t want to face us. We will come back because everything else was good .

Great beer garden!! Definitely visit again

Stopped off for a drink and asked about food. First of all they seemed unsure and then there was a sizeable list of things they didnt3 or couldn't do so on to the Chinese!

Brilliant service from all with an owner very concerned for the customer experience. All criticism taken on board and meals presented beautifully. Couldn't knock the service and food for the price. When I found out the owner also owned another couple of pubs that I'd had the pleasure to experience a few years before, my worries for what the food would be like was no more. Exceptional.

The pub, under new ownership, is absolutely outstanding. Wonderful flavoursome, carefully crafted and delicious food made by a talented chef, who is passionate about where his ingredients come from, and who checks on customers, and wants to get it right. Absolutely cannot recommend this pub enough- great beer too- I send my Bnb guests here too.

Re-opened pub now as a Free House. Best range of beer in town at low prices with a proper pub atmosphere. Close to the centre of town. Good food and plenty of room in the garden. Free parking out front. Helpful staff.

Visiting the area on holiday. We have eaten in a few places and we were looking for a quiet place for an evening meal. It’s a nice pub with a good atmosphere. Staff were friendly and polite. Between my wife and I we have over 50 year’s catering experience and would like to leave an honest review. First impressions were good. Food - starters were presented well and were very tasty. However it did take over 30 minutes to get them. What appeared was a lack of experience and management out front. Main course took a further hour plus to arrive. It’s always frustrating to see later arriving tables being served before you. Please take this feedback as it is intended, it is not criticism, but hopefully it will help your business grow. What I feel is needed is a clear person in charge front of house. Don’t let the waiting staff tell the customer of the problems in the kitchen. Deal with it in a professional manner. If you offer wine can it please be in a printed format not on an IPad. When you clear starters replace the cutlery. I should not have to ask. To the chef, your food is excellent, but you probably need help at busy times. If the kitchen is struggling to cope offering free deserts is nice but not helpful as it is further work for you. That’s where front of house should be taking control. I’m still going to give a high score as you have such fantastic potential.

A group of 5 of us and a dog visited on the 15th July 2023 to eat. We started with the blue vinyl panna cotta and English breakfast scotch egg. Both the starters were superb For the main course, 4 of us had the special which was fish pie and one had the burger. Apparently, the burger was really good. The fish pie was definitely the best fish pie you would ever have. It was just choked full of different fish topped with piped mash potato. To finish off, I had the chilly and chocolate brownie. Again, it's probably the best desert you could ever wish for. The ales on tap were from independent and local breweries, and it was a delight to try the different ones. The service was from young and newly trained staff supervised by I think the new landlord/owner who was tentative and informative explaining the dishes prior to ordering. The chef also came out to check that customers were happy with the food, and of course, we were all 100% delighted. We can all whole heartedly recommend the stour inn and its staff, food, ales, and service. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 . I am so looking forward to visiting them again with other friends so they too can experience the best place to dine in Blandford Forum

Great pub. So nice to be able to have another pub where good food (although we did not eat on this occasion) and great beers are served!

First time visiting since new management and now a free house which is a bonus. Nice food but for me I'm gutted what they've done to the beer garden,it used to be a beautiful garden with well spread out tables where I spent many an hour cycling up for a beer to sit in lovely garden,now a lot more tables and not so inviting😒

Best battered fish & chips I’ve ever tasted! Friends with me said their food was fantastic too! Compliments to the Chef & his young assistant who took the time to come to our tables & check out our comments on the cuisine. We will be eating at The Stour again… and again…. Recommend Cider & Shandy as a refreshing beverage on a hot summers evening. Lovely! 💕 Great Service 👍

Incredibly attentive, sweet, polite and professional staff. Incredibly enthusiastic and willing to go the extra mile. On top of that, the roast the chef cooks up is the best I have ever eaten in my life. This man clearly takes real pride in his work and it shows. Thank you

Good little pub in town, nice selection of beers,cider and whisky! Plenty of space inside and a lovely little beer garden as well! Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Now the Stour is a free house there’s a nice range of beers to choose from, not only that, but they’re reasonably priced too. Pints from Vocation and Cloudwater have been unheard of in Blandford 😀 Burgers 🍔 🍟 and fries were really good. I was recommended to eat here and warned they are a little on the pricey side but they certainly were worth it. I think I’ve found my new local 👌

Randomly stopped here for a carvery, was absolutely delicious with massive Yorkshire pudding and the choice of a family portion shared between 5 we were all stuffed. Will definitely be visiting again.

had an excellent lunch at the stour inn today i couldn’t see my plate for the yorkshire pudding but that was not the best part the creamy leeks are superb definitely worth every penny great food great gin great service the only fault it had to end

A friend and I called in here on the basis that we hadn't been before, and were hugely surprised at what we found. A genuine ale house, with an ever changing variety of excellent ales, in a lovely, interesting old building with all sorts of cosy corners, and a great pub garden. Friendly, helpful staff and a manager who really knows his beer. Will be hosting beer festivals during the year too. Didn't eat, but if the food is half as good as the ale, then this will be a choice venue. Very impressed, and we'll be returning soon.

Newly reopened and the new owner is friendly and clued in. Food is fantastic - we had the open sandwiches and are looking forward to trying the rest of the menu. Apparently it will be dog friendly throughout. I’d recommend you give it a try

I can honestly say my partner and I have just had the best roast dinner we’ve ever had. Being vegetarian we don’t usually bother to go out for dinner in Dorset as we’re often given bland boiled veg. The chef, Adam, and staff at the Stour Inn went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we could possible want (crispy potatoes, garlic greens, cauliflower cheese, HUGE yorkshires…). Staff were so friendly and the pub has a wonderful atmosphere. We’ve already booked again for next weekend. Thank you!!

Stayed locally for two nights and ate in this pub both evenings. Definitely recommend the place. The people are super friendly, the menu has a good range of options, the food is delicious and they accommodate well for gluten-free and kids! Lovely welcoming pub. 2 couples, all of us middle-aged. Choices of roast: beef or chicken or a *vegetable Wellington*. First the positives of our *Sunday lunch experience* 24/7/2022 1)Lovely old pub with a great *beer garden* not a Wembley Stadium sized area of grass but a relatively *intimate* sized space surrounded by bushes and plants. 2)The puddings were very tasty - and free 🤔 3) The young lady *waitressing* was dealing as well as she could with the situation... it was obvious she cared 4) The couple we had as guests ordered pizza - *3 meats* + *cherry tomato* (veggie) - They claimed they were enjoyable, I tasted them and they were fine. No problem there. So why only a 2star review? Myself and my companion love Sunday lunch in a pub. How many times have we done that.... scores. I can speak for both of us when I say this is the worst we have experienced. Was it... The long wait? The *sorry there is only 1 chicken left would 1 of you mind having the beef?* No... that's the way it goes. I hadn't originally chosen the beef because I was told *we always do it a bit pink* and that's not how I like it. I was assured - when only 1 chicken roast was available - that they would *put it in for a bit longer* The chicken arrived... 5 or 6 minutes later the gravy arrived with my beef. I have never (NEVER, EVER) seen anything like it... it was so awful I forgot to photograph it. It was pink... but not beef as I have ever seen it... pink entrails of something...? Jelly - type legs of some strange undersea creature? NOT slices of anything! My friends chicken wasn't cooked in the middle. If our friends were not there.. if they were not enjoying the pizzas.... then myself and my *partner* would have left with the food still on the plates. Instead we ate our 1(?) potato, spoonful of white cabbage and Yorkshire pudding. Our lovely waitress said *do you want dessert? You won't be charged for them* The free puddings were none > scant compensation. There are many reviews from *happy campers* about this pub. I have no personal grudge/gripe against The Stour Inn, the owners, the regulars, the neighbours, Blandford Forum etc. I have merely tried to give a fair and honest review. That *beef* will *stay with me* for some time!

Good pub with a lovely beer garden

The pub is waiting for a new Landlady. It is a real tardis. But dont know how they would cope if they got really busy. Only 2 person bar!lots of gsrden sests. Not really suitable for kids.

Best pizza ever - mushroom, ham and truffle....shared my husbands gluten-free version - and it was fantastic! Great service and good wine too!
