We took grandkids on Friday 3rd Jan 2025, lunchtime, fabulous food nice clean restaurant, plenty of space busy but very quiet so we could have conversations, 4 meals 3 of which were steak, peppered sauce got a thumbs up from everyone less than £70.00, we will certainly be visiting again.

Very disappointing experience. Heard a lot about the place through colleagues. Rang up to see if a table was available, was told yes just walk in. Place was dead, New Year’s Day, ok no problem. Sat down, went to the bar to order, had to wait untill the waitresses were finished their conversation about keyhole surgery. Literally standing in front of them and totally ignored, madness. Food ordered. Starters to come with childs mains. All good. Food arrives quickly, kids meals and starters enjoyably good. We got the steak deal; those unfortunately not so good. Steaks, zero seasoning and resting on the plate, over cooked. Menu looks ok for a pub but well over priced for the service and food given. We did not complain because there was no point. One of the young ladies half asleep leaning on the bar. The sever; didn't come back to clear our staters, to engrossed in the key hole surgery convo. No fresh cutlery after staters, absolute shambles. Would I return? No. The only saving grace was the older blonde lady who was very nice and accommodating. Desserts were lovely. Owners need to seriously address the front of house. Makes sense it’s the same owners of the fiddlers. At least the front of house their is decent.

Nice food Nice Staff. Reasonable prices. Free live music most weekends. Realy good ...go you will enjoy

After been let down 8pm on Christmas Day by another restaurant after booking 5 weeks in advance for a birthday I rang the stone trough to see if they could accodate for 15 people with 3 hours notice mangeress very helpful and said she could excellent service and lovely food very satisfied thank you again

The food here is always nice and pipping hot and very good selection and beautiful Sunday lunch.

The food was very nice but it took ages to receive the main course.

Very good pub we with plenty of seating for food, had fish and chips which was big portion and very nice. Definitely worth a visit for food as it looks all freshly made.

Went for a meal it was quite busy. Ordered a pizza it was really good little too much mozzarella on for me but that's not a bad thing

Average green king chain pub, one staff member had me waiting around 3 mins before confirming the pub takes credit cards, so a, review isn't needed as I'm sure everyone who visits a chain pub will know about this location, if there's an occasion I do visit ill carry cash as not to cause any confusion In the distant future

I ordered my food before 2nd before 25 people in our party and was last to be served after numerous mix ups of of orders

Family lunch, and really enjoyed it. Had the Sunday roast turkey dinner with plenty to eat.

OMG where do I start, the staff are absolutely great nothing is a bother, the food is delicious, good value & good portions. Everything is very clean, the atmosphere is vibrant, friendly, relaxed & awesome. Everything gets a 10/10 from me everytime. X

You're in low fell surrounded by the radgest looking people you'll come across but the foods canny and so are the people.

Great pub as always but the one let down everytime was one older staff member has very bad manners and is miserable when speaking with myself and other customers.

Friday night Thai night. My girl loved her king prawn basket, but there was no basket, again. Mine was a bit hot, which would be mild for others, it was a chee choo chicken.

First visit to Stone Trough, not disappointed, excellent food, great selection and theme nights. It’s Thai week this week. Good prices, wide menu selection, gorgeous food. Staff were lovely. Large pub on main road going into Lowfell, free parking. I’ll definitely be going back.

Loved it food and entertainment amazing

Great place to go for lovely food, friendly staff and great atmosphere. Lots of families so appears to be good for kids and some people had dogs so also dog friendly. Met up with friends will definitely go back with family.

Nice place to eat. Only disappointment no room for that apple crumble I'd been looking forward to after eating a well cooked and presented meal.

I have to say it's a long time since I have been in here for my lunch but guarantee it won't be long before I return,a lovely warm welcome from the staff, friendly and helpful and accommodating,we chose the Specials Menu and have no complaints whatsoever,to the contrary actually, lovely freshly prepared tasty food and good sized portions,thank you all so much for a wonderful lunch and dining experience,we will return very soon.

We’ve just been today , a group of 12 of us for my birthday. It’s the first time any of us had been and we went in a recommendation. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food. Some of us got the carvery, it was tasty, hot and a generous portion of meat. The gravy was also lovely and piping hot. The staff were all pleasant. Some of us ordered from the menue and the food came quickly and they all enjoyed it. There’s a good choice of desserts too. We were all able to order and pay separately which was helpful. We all said we’d go back again. Thank you Hi I can’t seem to write a new review but we returned again last Sunday ( 14th Jan 24 )for another birthday and we were once again all very happy with the food. It was delicious, I had a carvery and the swede mash was the best!!! I loved it and got the Nutella Belgium waffles for desert ( I don’t usually bother with deserts but I’m glad I did , it was delicious and had so much Nutella on it. The menu looks lovely so I’m planning on going back one night mid week with some friends. Highly recommended. Thank you

This came highly recommended by a colleague so thought I'd give it a try but was disappointed. The food was ok nothing outstanding..bar staff really need to cheer up seems to be if your not a regular you're not so welcome. Way better places close by.

Ordered the pizza burger, as you can see it comes in this interesting crust which was surprisingly very good. The food was great and nicely priced. Staff were lovely and friendly. Hand cut chips were amazing!!

We got lunchtime menu,was excellent value for money.I had potato skins for starter,corned beef pie and chips for main and apple crumble for dessert. Food was delicious (homemade) £14.95 .All 4 of us were impressed and would definitely recommend. Staff were lovely too even though it became extremely busy,they still delivered excellent service.

Over all experience was ok , however , I removed a scarf when we sat down and unfortunately I forgot to pick it up when we left , I rang as soon as I got home to report it and apparently , no one has seen it !!!! Really upset as it was a special gift !! Won't be going there again

First time we went, we found it very loud, cheap and cheerful. But we've been back a few times and plan to keep visiting - it's quite a good venue for good food and drink.

Meat & veg meal for 4 of us. Portion size was OK, quality of food was OK, but have had a lot better. Prices are reasonable. Nice atmosphere & staff friendly and helpful.

Great to be able to eat indoors again. Really busy - nice to see - however longer than usual wait for food but when it arrived we thoroughly enjoyed it - staff still lovely.....no change there 😊

Visited die to birthday meal, service was wad quick ( no to quick plenty of time to browse the menu! polite food orders came quicker than I thought but the roast of the day was tasty portions was a good size bar has a, decent selection f beers and alcohol very reasonable prices good all vibes not to busy meals very reasonably priced worth looking at of your planing a meal in a relaxing pub/ restaurant

1st visit for us 3 adults and a baby ...it was surprisingly busy for a Tuesday afternoon..Food was good we had the 2 course special. Good portions . Our only complaint was we could not find a high chair that was safe ...all the straps to hold children in were broken. This is something that need attending to urgently.

Nice food, although the halloumi burger was quite dry, first and the second time ordering it.. friendly staff but on this occasion we had a table beside us who were very boisterous and lots of foul language being used which wasn't very enjoyable as we could hardly hear each other on a family treat out.

Came here after visiting Angel of the North. The dark haired woman behind the bar doesn't want tourist here, was extremely unfriendly and hardly spoke, even though we were really friendly to her, she only wanted to speak to locals, that's a real shame, that irish people are not welcome here and I Don't think anyone is welcome here unless you are local. The dark woman was shouting at the sweet young girl working behind the bar. Also a group of about 20 young boys smoking dope in the beer garden, which no staff member said anything to them about, even though there were plenty of staff collecting food plates and glasses they turned a blind eye to that, even though many families say next to the dope smoking boys. If you are a tourist Don't come here, you wilk not be welcomed.

Food group varieties are for all or most appetites. They serve reasonable portion sizes that punters expect from an establishment but not found everywhere you'd like them to be. Here It's always presented very tastefully, and so are the glasses very clean and neat. I must, however, grant a negative appreciation for the cutlery that will just finish off a great fantastic experience every time you would attend but OK if a knock on the cutlery do not affect your overall visit. Service is very attentive, although to break away from that chain restaurants to a very classy restaurant venue would be easy by not having to attend the bar to order and pay but each to their own. Greater potential awaits... unfortunately I've not been able to attend this venue at its height of capacity but the day visits I've made was once average and another below average but standards were well worth it both times, I could not knock or fault them for nout. Nice experience overall...

After a full day of exercise there was still too much food. Fanatic value and a nice atmosphere. Drinks well priced and staff super friendly.

Great food and made adjustments to suit our tastes (i.e. swapping chunky chips for fries or omitting salad). Very busy - only two free tables which weren't occupied or booked, even on a Tuesday night!

Went with my team from work n they all enjoyed what they got, it all looked good too, I had vegan pie veg gravy etc, staff are nice. We got a couple of looks for being bit loud so being bit harsh by dropping a star tbf

Had an amazing meal here, consisting of a potato skins starter and mince and dumpling main all for £10.00, there was the option to upgrade to a dessert for an extra £2.50, but was full up. Great place, amazing food, the chips are homemade, my partner had homemade chicken goujons which were delicious. Great place for great food at a really good price

Mediterranean wrap was swimming in chilli sauce and very soggy. It also had celery in it which is not a Mediterranean vegetable. The other food was OK though. Thought the inside was a little dark

Visited on a Saturday evening, Food was yet again fantastic. Family of 8 visited and didn't expect food all at once, ordered drinks 1st (but you have to order from the bar). No app... very different choices of foods ordered, and looked very slow arriving, but the perfect part was all foods turned up together... whether it was starters, then Mains.. very friendly staff and live music

Food not as good as it used to be. Order a steak and ale pie, mince with puff pastry on top. Obiously the chef hasnt a real pie. A bottom, sides and lid thats a real pie

I've been here twice place came highly recommended by friends and family and lived up to all expectations will surely be coming back and recommend

Me and my man went in around 5pm last night and even though I didn't book a table a lovely lady I'm assuming the manager (with the best customer service skills I seen in a long time) sorted us a table real quick. I had the chicken gyros (greek) and my man ordered a Margherita pizza both were beautiful, they were cooked to perfection and full of flavour I am so looking forward to our next visit Xxx

Really lovely little place, brought my gran for some mid day lunch and it was fast and delicious!

Rang up to book a table was told there wasn’t many bookings but it was absolutely heaving. Got there and to my knowledge from working in the industry was far from busy. Maybe 60 people in total, maybe busy for the amount of staff in. Told 40 minutes for food 1 hour and 15 minutes later 2 out of 6 meals came. 15 minutes later the other 4 came out when 2 of us had finished. 1 plate couldn’t be touched it had been under the lights. The other was cold. Chicken so dry, my food was sold then it was out so had to re pick. The kids were starving. Came highly recommended but massively let down. No offer of discount or free drinks or anything. Will not return now.

Great chicken wrap which was more spicy than anticipated but delicious. Very reasonably priced.

Food is good. Service was ok. Took 45 mins for the food to arrive and then one of the dishes for the kids what wrong. It was kindly swapped but they had to wait even longer as we ate our food. Not ideal but it wouldn't out me off going back.

Went here yesterday for Sunday lunch (buffet ) was really nice especially the roast beef that was nice nd tender .Will definitely go back again .Nice atmosphere not noise.
