Triple LLL+ rated… lovely food, lovely location, lovely staff!

Had dinner at Six this evening and it wasn't great. Firstly, the place placed lacked any atmosphere. It was like eating dinner in a village hall. We ordered a bottle of wine and it was warm. No cold bottles available so ice was the option given. Service was chaotic. A main course was missed off for one of our table. Overall the food was less than average. Expensive for relatively low quality pub grub that lacked any seasoning. The views were the only good bit. Avoid.

Lunchtime tasting menu with lots of local ingredients. Everything course explained by the servers who had local knowledge. The service is excellent but not intrusive. Excellent experience 👏

My husband and I went for our wedding anniversary, tried out the tasting menu, it was amazing! I enjoyed every dish even the cheese course as I am not a cheese board fan. Staff are all very friendly, views at Six are amazing! Would highly recommend!

We only went there as we were intrigued by the building, we noticed the view point, so decided to check it out. As we entered the young girl on the front desk was so helpful, she gave a leaflet and explained everything about the place. So as was explained by the young girl we started at the top and worked our way down. We started at the viewing point, which was spectacular, worked our way down some floors wasn't our taste but were interesting. These floors were exhibitions. We didn't have time to visit every floor unfortunately. So question is again would I go back? I think I would as it was interesting and it's free to enter.

We sat in the bar area which has a great view up the Tyne. The lunches were delicious and staff were attentive and very polite. Special thanks to our waiter Ben for looking after us so well.

Great experience, views and service. Nine course tasting menu with wine. Certainly not an every day night out but a memorable celebration venue.

I loved the view of Newcastle from the rooftop including the millennium swing bridge and Tyne river. The service was impeccable and the food was nice. The prices are affordable to be honest.

Beautiful place for a meal at the top of the baltic. We went for Sunday lunch and it was some of the best food I've had. A little pricey but worth it for a special occasion.

I’m very been here in the past & it was nice, over all we had a lovely evening, the food was really interesting & well cooked & presented, the wine was not chilled & our lovely friendly waitress went away & chilled it with another ready to go should we have ordered a 2nd bottle (which we did). The venue could really do with a good shoosh, it doesn’t have that quality feel about it & at £320.00 for two I’d expect table cloths at the very least. They have the food & service spot on but the venue is way overdue a good remodel for the prices they are charging.

Terrible, worst evening meal taster menu ever. Service was great thanks to Madeline. The food apart from the desert was awful. Change the menu, this one does not work. The flavour combinations are just plain wrong. Why ruin a perfectly good oyster by drowning it in Limoncello? Stop charring / burning your scallops it makes them bitter and inedible etc etc , yuk!

I’ve been there for a six course dinner. The food was impeccably delicious and super tasty cocktails. Very friendly and helpful staff. The only thing is that, the best view at the restaurant is for the bar while who goes for a dinner looses the beautiful view of the quayside river. Anyway , happy to say we’ll be back for the bar menu :)

Had a wonderful lunch here today for our friends 80th birthday 🥳, the staff were so welcoming and considerate, the food was delicious and the atmosphere and unique view of the river tyne and the bridges was amazing, will definitely be back and we're very happy to recommend the SIX Rooftop at Baltic . Thank you to all the staff for making this such a memorable occasion

New bar space is an interesting alternative to the main restaurant. Classy food as you would expect - great for more informal dining. High chairs give great views of Tyne bridges

Great food, service and views. Did the bar menu which was excellent quality amd good value for money. It's been a while since visiting and really enjoyed it. The taste of six menu looks worth a visit too.

There are perceptions. Looks good from the photos online but apparently when you book for a special occasion, it gets depressing when you get a table with pathetic view. Uncomfortable seating, no good food. Drinks were the only good thing. Hope you work on good customer experience.

Fabulous. If we could give six stars we would. Staff were welcoming and friendly, the food was fabulous and just enough to leave you wanting a mouthful more. Great view from lounge bar and ladies toilet. Hard to know what we enjoyed the most but the beef and bread courses were both brilliant. If we lived locally we would be a regular.

Absolutely fantastic restaurant - as soon as we walked out of the lift, the two members of staff looked after us superbly. The food was excellent, the service was second to none and the restaurant itself is absolutely gorgeous. Highly recommend and we will definitely go back there next time we're in Newcastle. Wow! What can I say, the food and view of the quayside is simply stunning. The precision is visible in the kitchen and with the team running the floor in what can only be described as exceptional. I would consider TASTE OF SIX Six’s flagship tasting menu. truly some of the most flavoursome cuisine I have experienced. The team was sensational. Watching the team engage with their customers was exciting. The cohesion between the kitchen and the front of house was incredible to watch. I recommend this culinary experience. A cool venue at the top of the BALTIC. Some beautiful sights of Newcastle. The vegan canapes were some of the best I have ever had - really inventive and flavourful.

We had a table in The Lounge, right in the window, looking straight out at the river and bridges. Lovely staff. Limited menu and not cheap. Food was lovely. Highly recommend for a treat.

Great way to spend the extra day in February this year, we kept into the tasting menu and the matching wines, all very wonderful, left in such a good place, taste, quality and wonderful service. Very much love the new menu, building refit and chef’s table

Great place to sit, nibbles were good, staff very attentive. Fab toilets and views. Large gallery shop was good too.

Firstly I’d like to start with we have been before 5 years ago and it was amazing, we returned with my daughter for her first fine dining experience and will start by saying the waiting staff were brilliant, very friendly, attentive and generally happy people, as soon as I got my beer and poured the glass must of been filthy as black bits floating in the head of the beer, the waitress quickly replaced the glass and bottle which was good, now to the food, the land elements of the menu were brilliant, they looked great and tasted amazing and to be honest saved the day really. As for the sea aspect this was just to be blunt TERRIBLE, was not very enjoyable at all my daughter barely touched them as they were very tasteless and disappointing, both mine and my daughter crab dish was literally full of shell (first bite put her off) I had about 5 pieces of shell in mine but after already complaining about the drink didn’t want to be THAT customer, the night upto about half way was still enjoyable then a large table of men came in and the noise in the room vastly went up, it got to the point I couldn’t hear the girlfriend or daughter so felt like we rush our food to get out, this was so disappointing and left my daughter first experience as not very good and in her words “I don’t think I will eat fancy food again” which as a foodie ourselves we found this gutting.

Come out of lift and welcomed by greeter who escorted us to are table, we had time to look at the drinks menu before a waitress came round to take are order, after the drinks arrived a waitress came over and asked if we where ready to order, food was ordered and we waited for our food. When it came it was well presented and tasted great. I would recommend the six for a meal as the service and food was excellent, will be going back 😋

Great experience very well located inside the Baltic building, excelence cousine and very professional staff. The price is good, regarding to the quality of service and food. You can enjoy an amazing views of the city centre and the river. 100% recommended.

The service was second to none. The atmosphere was refined. The views and decor were stunning. The food was soooo good, particularly for only £54 at dinner.

Great place with a great kitchen and amazing view, the staff is extremely nice, they are creating an atmosphere where you are in a very fine place.

We had a great lunch, will definitely be back. We had the plant taster menu, would highly recommend, every dish was packed with flavour, we didn’t want to eat it too quickly it tasted that good.

Absolutely brilliant place for a staff meal - we've had 2 Xmas meals there, and loved it. Staff are attentive, polite and fast. Food is always perfect. Excellent drink selection. Couldn't rate it highly enough!

I brought my lovely mum for afternoon tea for her birthday. When we walked through the door we were greeted by Ben and made to feel extremely welcome. Ben, Madeleine, Naomi and Daisy (who wrote mum a lovely catd), all were amazing and the food was great too. We will be back! Thank uou team Baltic Six. You are fabulous and we appreciate you so much. Went for the afternoon tea with fizz. Beautiful presentation. Food portions ample. We ended up taking some of the cakes home for later. Couldn't finish. The staff were lovely. Attentive, without being constantly at your table. Setting was stunning. Great experience

A beautiful restaurant on the top floor with fabulous views over the river and its bridges. The food was good but with a slightly limited menu. Service friendly and helpful. Probably because of the expanse of the glass windows we found the restaurant rather cold.

Loved our meal here, great service and the early evening menu was very reasonably priced.

I've been waiting weeks to come here, but it was definitely worth the wait! My waitress was honestly the sweetest person ever, giving us time when we needed it aha! However, two of the four items were a bit disappointing. Just wouldn't order those again though!

Really good lunch at the Baltic, first visit since Covid.

We had an early evening booking at the Six Baltic Restaurant on Saturday. Firstly the service we received from the staff was excellent. I scored the overall experience as 4 stars primarily because the name of the building is very apt because it was BALTIC inside the restaurant. The staff did explain that the heating system was controlled via the operators of the main building. To be fair to the staff, they did bring a small heater to help keep our two better halves a little warmer. The only other minor negative was it was a bit dark in the restaurant, and we had to use the torch to be able to read the menu. I appreciate that they want to keep a certain ambience in the restaurant, but some nice small subtle down lights on the table would work very nicely. Overall though a very nice evening with friends in a lovely location.

Lovely service staff and excellent food, especially for the price if you come for the lunch special. Absolutely in love with the focaccia they made in house as well. There's clearly a lot of thought put into their food, and has a bit of a modernist flare, very fitting of a restaurant being on the top of a museum and exhibition space. We came here for a little wedding lunch, and they gave the wedding couple some celebratory fudge on a plate which was really sweet. Will come again!

The ambient and presentation was awesome; but, but! I had the worst food in my life there maybe! My main dish was catch of the day, and probably I was unlucky to step in on a day that they caught fish head and spine! Lol! I haven't ever had a halved fish with bones in and the head, and so badly tasting. Same was for my wife's duck breast and our starters. The only good enough was pork belly, but when spending over £170, I would expect not to order fries to eat something!!

We had a big celebration and chose The Viewing Box at SIX - it was amazing! All of the staff were so good and Daisy that was assigned to look after the party of 25 plus 3 children, did an outstanding job. We could not have dreamt of anything more. The building and views must be surely the best in the North East and the food was delicious. Thank you to all of you at SIX - you made our celebration so special and we will see you soon! I was going to get their afternoon tea, but the starting price of per person is 27 pounds, so I ended up ordering some desserts here, and they are absolutely tasty! Also their service is really nice. The waitresses are very patient and friendly with you. Plus, you can have amazing view at this restaurant. Overall, it was good experience. I would say it is worth going.

Have always wanted to come here but needed a good enough excuse since it is fancy. So for our anniversary we went. It was amazing, the staff were really friendly and very chatty. The food was exquisite and the views really made the restaurant. Fantastic will visit again for another special occasion.

Not somewhere I'd go often, because it is expensive, but the view was beautiful at night and the food was good (cocktails were even better!) Would recommend for the experience.

Honestly - we’ve been going her for 15 years and it is still, hands down, the best restaurant in Newcastle 👌🏻

The atmosphere and staff are amazing. The views and facilities are great. The food however was average and overpriced for what it was unfortunately, hence the 3 star rating.

Delicious food, fantastic views, perfect service and great atmosphere. We enjoyed every part of our meal, the food tasted sublime and it was obvious to us that the ingredients were high quality. We attended during their August special, so it’s difficult for us to speak on price but we would have paid double what we did pay. Service was attentive, not invasive and very helpful. Wine selection was good, and well priced too. We will definitely be back, thank you!

An absolutely fantastic place & the food is unbelievable. Their new chef from Newcastle is so talented & his creations & flavours are wonderful & so original & of course delicious. The staff & the General Manager Patrick (Paddy) really care about the experience you have, on the night or at lunchtime & made our visit unforgettable. I would recommend "Six" in the Baltic to everyone, who either wants to impress a new boss, a first date or a friends/family gathering , any occasion would be well worth a visit. It gets a 10/10 from us.

I really was not impressed. No table cloths, garden rattan chairs, basically it's a cafe trying to pose as a fancy restaurant which it certainly is not. The portions are tiny and to be honest I've had better pub lunches at half the price. Basically you're paying a premium for the view and not a lot else. Take my advice, save your money and eat somewhere else.

Came here for a friend's wedding reception. Had a posh and delicious ham and pickle, a to-die-for delicious perfectly cooked steak and chips, and one of them fruity frozen ice things plus lashings of wine and champagne. Can't recommend more highly especially for a wedding reception! I doubt it's cheap though! 🤤🤑💰💰💰🤑

Baltic six is our go to for any special occasions as the 3 course menu is truly amazing and it changes pretty often so it's always fun to order new things. Every dish we have had is incredible, I've tried non veggie, veggie and vegan dishes and they have all been amazing, plus the view is the best in Newcastle

What can I say! This was truly amazing!! We had a table for 8 booked on Sunday 14th May for the champagne afternoon tea. The food was amazing and delicious,all homemade. The scones still warm and the selection of desserts were to die for. We had exceptional service from start to finish from all the staff and the views were the icing on the cake! Would highly recommend this place to anyone.

The setting is awesome, with beautiful views, but the food and atmosphere weren't up to scratch. The food was nice, don't get me wrong, but not the quality I would have expected. We found the menu to be limited, and the food was extremely rich. The atmosphere was rather impersonal, cold even, which I suppose suits some people but not us. Staff was nice enough but they were very busy. They could probably do with a couple more on shift. It was nice to try it, but we wouldn't go back. Without the views, it's its nothing out of the ordinary, unfortunately.

Had Christmas dinner here, it is a fantastic venue with fantastic service. The food was also incredible and it really did feel like a very special occasion. One not to forget

Over priced packed lunch. This is how it felt as the presentation and stinginess for the price tag is terrible. Lack of attention to detail from staff and the added cheek of adding a service charge without actually telling me before taking payment. Then trying to complain is a total waste of time as it goes to the staff waiting you who are clearly disinterested. Advertising doesn’t match the restaurant as you can’t actually see the bridges from the restaurant and the tables aren’t dressed for afternoon tea. This place is rely on its name to carry it through. Need to do better.

Bit disappointed with my food from the lunch menu however, everyone elses was fab.

Pre concert meal. Good location for Sage. Food decent but hard to detect salmon in the salmon fishcakes. Chocolate mousse tasty but Presentation suggested something less pleasant.

Very Sugary and salty food. Tempura prawns ( dripping with oil ) Salmon fish cake full of potato, you can hardly taste salmon and too salty. Lunch was ruined. The only thing that’s positive is the view. Never back.

Very disappointing. My daughters took me here for afternoon tea to celebrate a special birthday & the whole experience was very much less than special. The advertising showed pristine white tablecloths - the tables were white wipe downs. I' ve seen better in a general cafe. Food consisted of one sandwich each cut into four fingers with different fillings, no other savoury items. There were three tiny fruit scones with only one very small pot of jam between the three of us & a small pot of cream, & three tiny plain scones, no butter. We had to request some butter & more jam & cream. The 'pavlova' cakes (meringue) were horribly chewy, ending up in your mouth like a lump of chewing gum. Staff were disinterested & did not at any point acknowledge the birthday element even though my daughters had made them aware of it & to add insult to injury added a service charge to the bill which we asked to be returned. I was more upset for my girls as they had paid a considerable amount of money for a really bad experience.

Disappointed with afternoon tea, scones are small and stodgy! 3 people dining and only 1 cream and 1 small jam to share. Service was disappointing, at no point were we offered a top up or even asked if everything was ok. We where celebrating a 70th birthday and had made that clear on our booking as there is a section that asks, but uncertain as to why as they didn't acknowledge our celebration or offer any options to improve the experience. The restaurant website gives the impression of fine dining, but it is more like an expensive cafe. Overall all very disappointing for the money.
