Stopped by during a shopping trip and enjoyed some welcome coffees at The Steel Rooms, always a treat to have something to look at after refreshment too. Swift and smiling service, a clean table - it's a great venue.

We drop into The Steel Rooms for coffee and a snack most Thursdays as it’s market day. The service, food and coffee we find to be consistently excellent. Well-behaved dogs are welcomed, which suits us perfectly. In fact, if the boy can catch the eye of a waitress, there might even be a treat for him. So that’s how he spends his time. 😀 Local businesses over chains any day of the week.

If ever anyone wonders why we should give our business to local shops rather than national chains, this is it. Clean tables, quickly cleared, sanitised, staff so friendly and helpful and now (well-behaved) dog friendly. My only criticism is the perennial cafe complaint - customers who buy one coffee and sit on phone screens for an hour while other customers queue for a table. Such a friendly place and the sausage rolls are delicious.

What a shame this place has stopped doing proper breakfasts and lunches. The food used to be so good, and unusual. We went there a few weeks ago for lunch to find only cake, quiche or sausage rolls on offer. What a disappointment. Can’t understand why they would do that as the place was always packed.

Visited for lunch with frail elderly parents for both their andnout anniversaries Booked a table on the morning of the visit Table situated upstairs and there's a lift for customers to use that has chair inside...a wheelchair would probably fit if the chair is moved out Food us served to the table but had to go downstairs to the counter to order - unsure if full table service is in place now. Food and drinks were very good. My father can only eat very small portions and the staff accommodated this with no question Definitely a lovely little place for a lunch with friends and has a fab gift shop as well Outdoor seating available at the front too

I had heard that the vegan options were better than when we first visited a couple of year ago so we decided to pop for lunch. Seated next to another table (quite close!) so was shocked at that. Ordered salads but they were unfortunately boring and dry even with a dressing. The accompanying falafels and burger was over cooked too and v dry. Contrary to popular opinion vegans do love their food. If you go to any vegan only establishment you will soon realise this. The chocolate cake and drinks were very good so we will stick with these next time. Hope the mains improve in the future and the COVID awareness.

Having just moved to the area we are establishing our ‘go to’ places. We’ve just found one in Brigg. A really friendly welcome and it was truly service with a smile....despite the masks!! COVID measures are in place but - as far as possible - it is not intrusive. You can still enjoy a relaxing visit. Warm, home made scones are amazing and we saw enough to know we will be back regularly to work our way through the menu. Definitely a ‘go to’ place in Brigg - if not a reason to visit.

The ladies at The Steel Rooms make service look so easy, yet in my experience if it was, all establishments would be doing it. The service is welcoming, friendly, prompt and the order is processed quickly and correctly, always. The food we chose was beautifully presented and cooked, and the drinks piping hot. Couldn't ask for more, so it's always our 'go to' place in Brigg.

I've been 3 times to the Steel Rooms. Once just for a coffee and twice for food. It always appears busy and sometimes there is a wait for both a table and food. The wait for food is the reason I haven't been more because I have had limited time on those visits - and I appreciate it is cooked to order and not microwave meals.I intend to return on a day off when I'm not rushing between appointments or in my lunch hour.i have always found the staff pleasant and friendly. Two of the party had the big breakfast and Wow - it was big and I imagine it could have lasted them the day. However space is the only slight downside - we had a pushchair parked at the next table and it made getting in and out difficult not just for us but for the girls bringing the food & drinks. The front is a shop and upstairs is an art gallery. We went up to look at the gallery - there wasn't much in and sorry but I found the art over priced and pretentious this is my own opinion of what we saw that day.

Have been multiple times since the new ownership, first time was terrible and I notified the owners as they were new at the time but didn’t leave a review. Been great since until today. Me and my partner (vegetarian) went we ordered soup & sandwich combo (Chicken/Bacon Mayo) and Brie & Cranberry Panini with Chips. Food comes and my sandwich was hot Bacon & Chicken with mayo, but was expecting a cold pre-mixed Chicken & Bacon mayo, but I can deal with that. My partner was about to bite his Panini and thought it didn’t look right so decided to open it and found that it was Bacon & Cranberry with no Brie. We took the plate to the young girl that served us and told them, they took the plate but didn’t get a single apology. And eventually got a replacement when I had nearly finished my food. My partner is vegetarian by choice for over 20 years, however some people are due to health reasons and could cause serious issues. I have been in contact with the owners to pre-warn them of the negative review I’ll be leaving and they have offered an apology and refund. I have declined the refund as we did eat the food eventually received correctly. They also lost out on us ordering desserts and more drinks due to what happened and went elsewhere on the way home. The owners have advised they will be speaking to staff and have made a change on the till to highlight it’s a vegetarian meal so hopefully won’t happen again, but the damage has already been done and will put us off visiting for quite sometime.
