We recently visited The Staveley Arms for a last minute Sunday dinner, whilst in the area. We were given a table in a front bay window overlooking the village, which was wonderful. The welcome was warm and the food and drink was top notch with ample portions for parents and kids alike. We rounded our meal off with ice cream and desert, which were excellent. The lunch was reasonably priced, providing decent value; we will certainly return again and highly recommend. Following our lunch, we enjoyed a lovely, short walk in and around the village which is a charming, picturesque place.

What a lovely place to go to have a drink and relax. The food is amazing. The staff were friendly and attentive but not to the point where it becomes intrusive. Nothing was too much trouble. *Edit* in response to your response... I've emailed you as requested. The date we went was Sunday the 18th of August.. 2024 The Time was half three to four. The reviews for this place are only relevant after October 20th 2023.. Not before as it was under different management then ... The food before was great and fresh... Pink roast beef not grey... Also no stale hard to cut potatoes... Ect.. See original review. Original review *This was a really a great place to eat. We came back for the first time after the new owner's took over... This was bad...very bad.. We went for a walk... Thought that we must try this place again... So we popped in... New staff... All Lovely and friendly.. They fit us in... No problem... Which was lovely... As walk in customers... The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We ordered two Serloin beef roasts.. With extra cauliflower cheese as a side... That never turned up... I asked the lady at the bar and the lady that served us also for the extra side order... I heard in the back ground when our main plates arrived... Well they never asked for cauliflower cheese... (we did) The meal came out very quick... No cauliflower cheese... Re heated left overs Is the best that I can say... And describe about this dinner... The beef came out like grey bits of lamp heated thick cut bacon... 3 small grey bits (shaped like bacon) A very Weird texture also... Over cooked and hard to cut... I've never seen roast beef like it.... Ever. The "beef dripping roast potato's" had shrunk... Then had been Re heated... Left overs... They were stale.... And very hard to cut... I had a couple of mouth fulls... It was very bad.... The lady who asked if it was okay... Said "it doesn't look right... But we've had no complaints today." As I cut through the food to show her... She knew it was bad... But was very professional. My partner ate half of his... Saying it's really not great... But that he just wouldn't come back. I was polite and said this isn't right... They kindly didn't charge us for the food... And offered us a pudding. We politely declined. This was just soooo awkward... Our first time sending food back.... What a difference and what ashame..... It had all the hallmarks of a chain like a weatherspoons .... Fast in and out... No care for good quality food... Avoid... Wouldn't recommend for food at all.... Beer stop great...as it's in a lovely area... The staff are lovely as well .. Just a very bad and awkward experience. I really hope that this changes as you don't know without an honest review.

Great little pub and nice atmosphere. It looked really busy for the quiz too. The food was really good and there were good gluten free options which made a change. Knocked down one star due to the fact it took half an hour to pay and leave, being unable to flag someone down and waiting ages for the bill and card machine.

This pub has struggled in the past and had numerous changes of landlords, I hope this is not the case for the new landlords, they deserve success. Undoubtedly the best chef , best food and best service so far. Starter was thinly sliced beetroot with sublime whipped feta and shards of apple with walnuts. Although Sunday roast was the dish of the day, other options were available, between us we also had vegetable wellington roast dinner, an enormous fish with beautifully hand cut chips, crispy on the outside, fluffy in the middle, and steak pie. You can stick potatoes in the oven for a few minutes and call them roasties for the sake of quick service or you can take the time to do them properly, fluffed after boiling then roasted til crispy, it's worth the wait and these were perfect. Followed by sticky toffee pudding and bread and butter pudding, both were lovely. It was very busy so a bit of a wait for the food but what do you expect for freshly cooked food, if you want it quick and microwaved go to Wetherspoons. Staff were very professional and helpful and had dog biscuits in their pocket for the puppy . Not much of a 'pop in for just a drink ' kind of couple but we will be now, this pub deserves to be supported

The place was over priced to be a fine dine type of restaurant selling game products. The manager was rude like a snob. Asked us what we want to drink and the kids said they wanted j2o and she just said we don’t have that. Only coke, lemonade and Fanta. We thought she said she had marreri beer and she said no. It’s mopela or something like that. We just decided to cancel the drinks and leave consider the kids could find nothing to eat.

The pub is lovely when all lit up from the outside. Lovely log burners in the bar and part of the restaurant. Staff all very friendly and extremely helpful. Food was lovely but selection very limited. The big downside for us was the section closest to the road in the restaurant, it was very cold with no heating. We asked to move into the main area which was lovely closer to the log burner. Unfortunately we couldnt move as there was a large dog right next to an empty table for 4!!! Downside to dogs in restaurant areas which impacted on us and our 9 year son. My wife had to wear her coat in the end.

Great welcome too from all the staff members, especially Emma, which really makes the experience special. Add to this excellent cask ales and a great range of wines by the the glass then you have a winner. the lighting in the bar area is a little bleak but I'm sure that could be easily fixed. Only given 4 stars as I did not get to experience the entire establishment. Very welcoming staff and very acommodating. I turned up for dinner without a reservation but was allocated a spot in the bar area if I didn't mind. A nice selection of bar drinks available and the one I had been kept well. A Christmas menu as well as a la carte. Slightly above average prices in comparison to other venues in the area but that's like comparing M & S to TK MAX (preference). I chose to have a fresly made steak and ale pie. There is a 30 minute waiting time on this. The mash was very nice as was the side of gravy and vegetables. I'm certainly one for my pies and in my personal opinion I felt that the 30 minute wait was a real let down for what I received. I gave my feedback to the staff as constructive, not negative as everyone to their own when it comes to their pallet. When you expect a steak and Ale pie, that is just what you'd expect and not a meat and veg pie, you already have a side of very nice veg. The gravy had very little taste to it unless the side of gravy was meant to be the ale part of the dish? There was certainly no richness or ale taste and I'm used to this in other pies I've had throughout the region and other parts of the UK. All in all I found the food, drink and staff and venue very pleasant.

With vegetarians in our party we sometimes have disappointing experience eating out in rural Yorkshire. We phoned a pub near North Staveley to check what they offered for Sunday lunch and were told "we could get some vege sausages out of the freezer". This led us to try The Staveley Arms instead and I am so grateful we did! We received a very warm welcome and were shown to a table in a spacious dining room. Simply decorated it felt very homely and comfortable. The menu did not disappoint with lots of choice for meat and fish eaters. There was also a vegan option and another vegetarian option. Our party ordered a roast beef dinner, bream and finally a vegetarian strudel. The only comment was that the gravy with the beef had too much flavour distracting from the meat, a personal preference rather than a complaint. The fish and vegetarian meals were spot on with perfect, freshly cooked vegetables. Be prepared to wait a good 15 minutes for this to happen but it's well worth it and you should never be in rush for good food. Desert choice was maybe less inspiring than the rest of the menu but we had a chocolate brownie and a chocolate tart both of which were well presented and delicious. Most of the staff were youngsters but have clearly been well trained being efficient and very attentive without intruding. Overall we felt that it was one of the best meals we have had in a long time and incredibly good value. There is absolutely no doubt that we will be returning whenever we are in the area.

We recently visited with a group of 10 and the whole experience from start to finish was perfect! Amazing selection of real ales and lager to kick things off and some lovely wines to follow. The food was absolutely incredible, we enjoyed a selection of sharing platters of white bait, black pudding bon bons, unbelievably tasty yorkshire blue fried cheese, sun-blushed tomatoes, cheese ‘straw twists’ and a selection of relishes and sauces. I think the steak and ale pies stole the show which came beautifully presented as individual pies which were so rich and flavourful. I've been here 3 times in the last month. Sometimes places disappoint when you go back, not here. Excellent every time.

Last of the springs sun sat outside enjoyed a beer and snacks. Bar staff are very friendly, first impressions, thought it looked to be lot smaller on the inside than the outside the door from the carpark opens into the bar. Which was dark on a sunny day, had a warm feel to it like an old pub. We didn't eat but a fair few did, restaurant seating is quite discreet, you don't have to sit in the bar and you aren't necessarily overlooked by everyone. I bet it would be great for groups, menu board looked interesting with a few local surprises. "Pheasant dippers" got to try those next time.

We went today for Mothers Day lunch and from start to finish it was great. Lovely staff and excellent food. The Staff went above and beyond to weigh food so we could calculate our sons insulin . Would highly recommend The Staveley Arms to anyone.

The male staff were very polite. I asked two male staff where the toilet was and they kindly told me to go to the toilet inside the restaurant. But a female waiter in the restaurant insisted that the

It’s a nice pub with a nice outlook, service was very slow but the food arrived fairly quickly, the food itself was typical pub grub, edible without any wow factor, it’s no different to anywhere else
