The Station Diner in North Down

Wife had a notion for a chippy tea but wanted to sit in. Was gonna go to ards but remembered there were seats here. 1st time here. Got the last 2 seats. Pasties and onionrings and a fish supper. Well more like a whale supper. Omg it was beaut. Used to think the chippy on the sea front with a fish in its name had the best cod... tonight probably beat it... Will definitely be back...

Menus a bit confusing but food is good and staff are fine

Really love this chippy, I regularly get a cod supper and it's always great. Large portions and very tasty, yes I can appreciate the prices are more expensive these days ( for everything we buy ) but I still say its worth the money. If its quality then its worth it.

Got a delivery & it was a whole meal short. Ordered two portions of battered sausage & got just one. Guess who has to do without. Tried ringing but no answer. Receipt says charged for two portions so I’ve been ripped off. No a happy customer.

Just got a delivery of a chicken goujon supper and a battered sausage supper.Think they got the chip portion in the goujons mixed up with a kids meal and it cost £8.50.

Always great service and great food

First time I've tried here, had a cod supper and peas, absolutely nailed it, fish was huge and the batter light and crispy, proper chips, not frozen 1s that I detest, and cooked perfectly, my own personal point is the peas, I remember getting them from a chippy in Belfast when I was a kid and they had some vinegar on them which I would prefer, next time I'll ask to have vinegar on them. This is now my go to chippy when I treat myself. Well done to the staff at Station Diner.

Regular haunt of mine- reliably dependable to get a brilliant fish supper, very pleasant staff, service good.

First time at the station diner, and the recommendation wasn’t wrong 😱 a real monster fish and though they had run out to do a second portion, I was offered cod bites they were big enough to equal a fish Everything else was cracking , but missed our 2 garlic mayo’s the only downside Definitely will be back in a month once this has gone down 👍🏻

Staff are so friendly and helpful... The pasties are the best in the world recommended to everyone.

UPDATE: I ordered from Just Eats, and it took an hour and 45 mins to deliver. Plus the burger was meh, and the bun had been sliced with like 3 mm of bread on the bottom, so it was super hard to handle, and the chips were mushy and soggy. It's a good honest place, as my Dad would often say of such places. Regular food done well is a precious thing. Give it a try.

Just placed an order with a lovely girl over phone. She was so helpful and pleasant bent over backwards for us and nothing was a problem. Very accommodating. Paid 20 quid to feel physically sick… had to re cook the food as it was cold and practically raw, squeeze out the grease and pick out the hair wrapped round my fish. Called 20+ times to have no answer either. Wouldn’t go near the place with a pole, completely inedible 🤢

Such a disappointment. Had some friends coming down for the day so we thought this was the handiest place for a quick lunch. Ordered 2 scampi suppers and small chip for the youngest, who wasn't very hungry. Was so looking forward to the Portavogie scampi but what a disappointment. When it arrived there were several large pieces of what I assumed to be the beautiful battered Portavogie scampi, and lots of the obligatory teeny pieces of just deep fried batter. Imagine my disappointment when I discovered that the large pieces of "scampi" were also just batter. I paid over £9 for what turned out to be 2 tiny, and I do mean miniscule, pieces of scampi. As I began to cut into the large pieces I could clearly see they were just batter, and some not even cooked through so just looked like doughy goop. The layout of the diner means you're sat at the side, away from the front till area. I went round several times to speak to someone, but each time there were people waiting on food. I didn't want to cause a scene so each time I just returned to our booth. When we were leaving they were finally empty at the front so I seized the moment. The lady behind the till came round to our table so I could show her my not even half eaten plate of food - it looked like I'd carried out an autopsy on my lunch, which I guess I had! I pointed out the uneaten large pieces of batter, with no scampi inside, also the uncooked ones. She explained that they buy it in ready made so have no quality control in that aspect, but that she would mention it to the person who orders it. Fair enough I thought. No offer of a refund, even a partial refund on the actual scampi. No, instead she said when I'm in again if it happens again to just ask for a fresh one and they'd make one up for me. So already anticipating no change from the supplier. Great, fills me with confidence. Whatever happened to keeping the customer happy? I always prefer to raise the issue rather than just leaving a bad review, as most places will attempt to rectify the situation so that you at least leave feeling like you haven't been cheated out of your money. But nope, no attempt to resolve the issue. So sorry to say, I definitely won't be back and won't be recommending to anyone and neither will my friend.

This was the worst fish supper I have ever had. The chips were scaps and the fish batter hard and chewy and not much fish inside the batter. Would not recommend 😭

Low prices, large meals, plesently clean and friendly staff. Parking not great but you can order through Justeat or the likes. They have their own app for loyalty and deals.

Waited 1hr 45mins, I called bk to be told it’ll be few mins as with driver. Took further 15mins to arrive. Dinner was stone cold, called bk no answer as it was closed by then. Absolute disgrace, wudnt order again

The chips are very hard, I actually thought my teeth where gonna crack 🤚 My bestfriend said her chicken nuggets and chips were like eating a rock. Highly don't recommend this place at all! 😡 (Edit) the smell of the shop is awful and the staff where rude and smelt like smoke.

The place was very busy, but the staff kept the queue properly spaced and everything in order. Food was good and freshly made and the Cod bites were absolutely massive and really nice.

The fish I got was good, the chips were awful, my wifes fish bites were full of bones & the mushrooms were poor. They, certainly, have allowed their standards to drop. Won't be back.

Great value for money. Best Fish in Bangor by a mile, beautiful white thick flaky cod and they don't skimp on the portions, chips and burgers good too.

If you our looking for a well done fish and chips this is a good place to go and it has a delivery service, our you can sit in great food

Great food, great service. But they need a new couch at the counter. I nearly broke my hole when i sat on it.

Food was great if I could of eaten it. I caught the delivery driver scratching his groin before I got to the door.

I've ordered from here on countless of occasions. Tonight my girlfriend and I ordered and I got my usual. A scampi supper also ordered was a fish supper, a portion of mushy peas and a portion of onion rings. The order arrived in a timely fashion and the gentleman that delivered was a friendly fellow. The fish supper was well cooked and the portion size was vast . The mushy peas were likely of the tinned Asda variety. The onion rings were crispy and well cooked on the outside but cold and moist on the inside. Very confusing. Now we get to the issue. The scampi. Now I've ordered this meal 15+ times and it's always been fantastic. Great portion size, plenty of chips and the scampi would have a crispy batter and the meat was always tender. Tonight's offering or lack thereof made me feel like I would be more fulfilled if I moved to a third world country and walked 15 miles for my water or meal in this upon opening the burger sized polystyrene container I was greeted with a Gary Coleman handful of chips and a portion of scampi that resembled the Jackson 5 because there was 5 very differently shaped and sized bits and most of them looked very sad. Upon calling the restaurant I was told that a full portion of scampi and chips was sent. The lady then went off the phone for a second and after some very muffled words, probably regarding which of their bodily fluids were going into my replacement the lady told me that she would send another portion down (bit odd if you were certain a full portion was sent). A short time passed and my friendly faced fulfiller our culinary delights arrived with my replacement. He apologized and said that although no excuse the restaurant were particularly busy this evening. Which is more than the lady on the phone offered. Upon opening the box with the replacement I was greeted with a further 6 bits of sad scampi that were not only burnt but so oily America have decided to invade them. Needless to say I am beyond disappointed and won't be ordering from here again due to the poor quality of the scampi.

As our two your old niece exclaimed "This is a great place to be!" Great chips, fresh cod bites. Really nice light batter. Will call in again.

This was the most disgusting fish supper that I have ever had. The batter and chips were soggy and really greasy. My lips are sticking together with the horrible grease. I not even convinced that the cod was cod! I have never written a review before but this was so bad that I felt compelled to do so

Can't say I'm a fan to be honest... Phoned order for collection stating I'd be there at 20:50 got there on time and still had to wait 20mins ... Also when I got there , there was no curry left ... Disappointing but hey... The real JOY came when I got my order home and everything was over cooked ... Chicken burger was dry and chewy chips seemed like the drudge of the fryer... Gravy was like salty brown tar... Staff looked like and probably where getting ready to go home ... But rather than an out and out apologize for the delay I got the old excuse that they were super busy... Sorry but your running a business and that does not really fly as an excuse or any kind of apologize

Ordered a simple sausage supper & a dressed chicken burger. Just a normal routine order you'd suspect. Happy days I thought. Oooo dear how wrong I was. Time was 18-45, on A Sunday evening. 5th August, money took order on. All good so far. The front desk cashier & team seemed more occupied with the delivery board (Just Eat) & the clock as the cashier finishes at 7pm. As the time ticked by, delivery ticket number 5 came in. Couple of punters of the street, wouldn't call it a mass of orders. So the kind cashier asked if I would like salt & vinger? Yes please. More time ticked by & banter seemed a fun environment to work in. As the brown bags gathered up front of house for orders. So then gradually mines comes over the counter - 15 min wait or so. Top job! Home, I wandered to Open my brown bag up to find goujons instead of chicken burger! No salt and vinegar either on a sausage supper. To whom ordered goujons count yourself lucky. As I ate the two greasy under cooked battered mess of goujons!! I know the chicken burger was the nicer option. My only hope for ya! That they dressed it! A SIMPLE order can go horribly wrong be very aware. Do NOT! order while staff are changing shift. Then how was I to know. Anyways, 1 very un-happy customer. Thanks Station Diner. Top job! Hope the McGregor fight gets cancelled as use were more interested organising a piss up! Than a SIMPLE order. Maybe too close to 7pm to care. Lesson learned.

Have been going here since it opened have always been well satisfied with food and service until today was wanting 10 minutes for someone to take my order I had to go up and ask for order to be taken didn't get all my order portion was small tea was cold had to ask for milk but again the food was superb

Food was good but waiting 2hours for a delivery is just shocking. Either employ more staff or dont take as many orders and keep your customers happy.

Second review of this place got a fry this time omg delicious staff are absolutely brilliant very friendly and helpful. My fry was cooked by Aaron and god it was worth it
