We visited for an evening meal with a larger party. The pub itself is nice with a good atmosphere, but the restaurant area was absolutely freezing – I had to keep my coat on throughout the meal just to stay warm. Probably best to come back in the summer, so you don’t risk turning into an ice cube! The food was okay but could have been better, and it all came out at different times, which was frustrating – some of our group had finished eating before others were even served. The menu could also do with a refresh; a lot of the options weren’t very exciting, and we were told several items had run out. It also felt like there weren’t enough staff on the floor, as service was quite slow. Overall, a disappointing experience. It’s a nice venue, but there are quite a few things that need improving.

Had a lovely evening meal - food was great. Lovely fresh salads and piping hot, well cooked, tasty food. Recommend the houloumi chips and salt and pepper chicken starters, and the luxury fish pie for main was yummy! My friends got a surprise cake for my birthday and the staff happily brought it to our table and provided plates and serviettes. We sat in the bar, and it was a tiny bit drafty right next to the window, but it was a very cold night.

The Star Inn - Ashton Underhill I recently visited The Star Inn in Ashton Underhill and was thoroughly impressed with the experience. The highlight of the meal was their Sunday roast, which was absolutely amazing. The roast was perfectly cooked, with tender, flavorful meat and a generous serving of all the trimmings, including crispy roast potatoes, rich gravy, and a delightful array of vegetables. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the staff made me feel right at home. If you’re in the area and looking for a great pub meal, especially a classic Sunday roast, The Star Inn is definitely worth a visit!

Nice people and it was busy but we had to wait a long time to be served when the food arrived it was well over cooked with a burnt Yorkshire pudding, rock hard potatoes uneatable butternut squash. For pudding I asked for custard to go with my apple tart and ice cream but all I got was a teaspoon full. I certainly won’t return in a hurry

Beautiful location and warm welcome. Service was great as was the food. The only criticism I have is that the sauce that went alongside the chicken skewers was in a plastic container similar to those you get with an Indian takeaway. A china sauce pot would be more pleasing & sustainable. I haven't marked the score down for this but when eating in a restaurant you don't expect a plastic sauce container. Other than that it was all great.

Been coming for a while...and was a little disappointed on this occasion. My sister requested a drink that they don't want to offer as the landlord don't like it! Guinness zero in this instance, she has a reaction to alcohol and so requires zero....Food was a little over done and not as hot as it could have been but probably put that down to staff shortages. But finally in my opinion the wording of the menu is very annoying...advertising a "no Nut Roast" ! Why not just say what it HAS got and not what it HASN'T? And to offer no alternative, as I love a Nut Roast but not one on the menu. Will think twice before visiting again for food for the family outing.

Called in here with a group of friends 6 miles into our circular walk around Tewkesbury. It was honestly fine but the locals were a bit rude. We were all just chatting and waiting for our food (which took 40 minutes to arrive) and were getting stared down by a guy at the bar. Thankfully my friend does not feel intimidated by grumpy men and stared at him back with gusto, so piercingly that he left half a pint and went home to his presumably loveless marriage. Very iconic. Only one vegan option which was a moving mountains burger - nothing to write home about but it definitely filled a hole. Wouldn't hurry back!

First time visiting The Star Inn which is the local pub for those living in the village. I was visiting a long time friend and his wife and they booked a table here for lunch. On ordering, I was told that "they serve ample positions here", and my friends were right. I was going for the Steak Ale Pie, but then decided on a baguette with bacon, brie and cranberry served with fries and salad. The food took awhile to arrive (hence the four stars) but when it came and I tasted it - first class! Maybe I should change the four to a five because good things comes to those who wait, but I was really hungry and it seems like ages. But eh, the food was amazing.

I booked a table for 18:30. Was greeted by a welcoming young lady, once seated we asked which cider options where available, it soon became apparent the other younger server didnt know what they had sold. After looking over at the taps we gave our order for the waitress. She came to back to say we havnt got that we have this alternative.. we went with what was offered, she returned saying sorry we havnt got that Either. 3rd time lucky we settled for the cider available. Seems that there is a supply issue that may need looking into, We decided on our mains. We ordered 1 full rack 1 half rack ribs, the meat sharer (as a starter; we made the waitress well aware it was a starter. She even brought 2 spare plates and cutlery and stated this is for your starter) and loaded fries to come with the mains, again we made the waitress well aware. 10 minutes passed then the 'manager on shift' came over to let us know they have not got ribs. 18.30 on a Friday night...no 2 ciders and ribs unavailable..after seeing a table next to us get a burger that looked pretty good, we went with a piggy in the middle burger and a cluck it burger. We then proceed to wait 45 minutes to be approached with "sorry for the delay we will discount your bill" she had 2 burgers n hand, I asked the waitress where the sharing board was as that was meant to be a starter, it then appeared behind her. After explaining we asked for the board as a starter she then said that is OK we will bring them back later implying they will be hot held. I questioned this and was told they would be made from fresh. I don't thing that was the intention or result. We had the sharing boardover, the pork belly was good had good flavour, wings could have been crispy, they where Soggy but had a nice seasoning on them. Chix tenders again, were decent but was nothing special. I stacked the plates pushed it to the side so it was obvious we were finished. there was a table of 6 next to us that had paid and left. The server continued to clear it even though it was clear as day we had finished and our mains needed to be called away. at this point we had been in the restaurant roughly an hour and 10. The manger on shift noticed we had finished and called us away and told the young server to clear us. Upon clearing, it was clear I had finished my drink. I was not asked if I wanted another. I thought she would of asked however that did not happen. After 10 minutes passing I went up to the bar to get my own drink, I was then told by the manger on shift what drinks do you want as we are taking your drinks off the bill, which didn't happen, The burgers came out 15 minutes later the piggy burger looked nice however after taking a bite the burger was very tasteless. the only thing what had some taste was the pulled pork. I decided to sent it back as I didn't want it. the other cluck burger had bacon which was barely cooked. I imformed the waitress who proceed to tell me it's just because it's streaky bacon, that's why... iv been a head chef for over 16 years..it was pretty cringe to hear that as an excuse. I told the waitress it's not cooked I'm not being funny but it's on the edge of being raw, she eye rolled, asked if we wanted anything else, which we didn't. ruined our appetite. Bill came they had taken both burgers off the piggy burger was taken back and the other burger was hardly eaten. To our surprise the drinks were still on the bill, after speaking to the waitress I asked for a manger which was responded with ; I am the manager on shift. after that she stated the drinks would be removed, she squirmed to saying she meant that the next drinks would be free and that I misunderstood... I asked for the 2 other drinks - 1 pepsi and 1 cider to be removed and we would be happy to pay the remaining bill wich was still £40. This was met with immature smurks, really unprofessional. I would 100% NOT!!- recommend this place. Take your money else.

Best breakfast I have had in a long time and I have quite a few!! It is hard to beat Rick Steins breakfast but I have to say as breakfasts go this is up there!! Hot plates!! Old school catering at its best. The ladies were lovely. It is a bit rough and ready in the cafe but that’s what gives it character. Food was all piping hot so you could take your time eating it. Not like most places trying to be something they are defo not!! Lovely!! X

It still doesn't explain why the staff were rude and miserable,. even before the said incident! Your staff definitely need to learn a few social skills!! And I don't need to read your rules!!
