The roast meal was superb, I had the mixed meat which came with thick slices of pork, chicken and beef separate vegetables cooked to perfection, roast and new potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. Phew!! Great service and lovely scenery. We ate outside in the glorious sunshine

Visited for a couple of drinks whilst in the area. We didn't eat but the food looked very nice. They also did specials like 2 curries for the price of one, on a certain day.

Cozy pub with delicious pies. We got the chicken pie and the beef and ale pie and they both were excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Absolutely beautiful food with such good service. We stopped by on the off chance of a roast dinner on our way home and had a table within 5 minutes. The 3 course Sunday roast was really reasonable £27! Really good quality meat and tasty food with friendly and attentive service. Would highly recommend!

Great village pub, good atmosphere very good garden

Beautiful location and warm welcome. Service was great as was the food. The only criticism I have is that the sauce that went alongside the chicken skewers was in a plastic container similar to those you get with an Indian takeaway. A china sauce pot would be more pleasing & sustainable. I haven't marked the score down for this but when eating in a restaurant you don't expect a plastic sauce container. Other than that it was all great.

Been coming for a while...and was a little disappointed on this occasion. My sister requested a drink that they don't want to offer as the landlord don't like it! Guinness zero in this instance, she has a reaction to alcohol and so requires zero....Food was a little over done and not as hot as it could have been but probably put that down to staff shortages. But finally in my opinion the wording of the menu is very annoying...advertising a "no Nut Roast" ! Why not just say what it HAS got and not what it HASN'T? And to offer no alternative, as I love a Nut Roast but not one on the menu. Will think twice before visiting again for food for the family outing.

Evening food and drinks provided for our little Jolly Boys outing. 2 consecutive evenings, they patiently tolerated us. They also served us a lovely selection of beers and food, all in generous measures. Would we return...emphatically yes! If they would have us.

What an amazing Sunday dinner!! The best. Loads of meat and the best roast potatoes. What made the meal even better were the lovely, polite young men and women who served and waited on us. They interacted, polite and engaged. Will definitely be back and have been shouting from the roof tops about you.

Me and my family love this pub. The food and service is always great. Tonight I had a mixed grill on specials, and the rump steak was incredible. Also they always have local delicious ales that they change regularly.

The loaded chips were excellent, and the staff all friendly with quick service.

This is a good village pub - we don't live locally but visit when we're in the area. Excellent food and definitely need to book for Sunday lunch. Nice garden area and dogs are welcome

We went for Sunday lunch today for our 1st visit, we both had the roast pork, plenty of it, lovely selection of veg to go with it followed by ginger sponge and custard, all absolutely delicious, looking forward to our 2nd visit to this friendly and welcoming pub

Reasonable food but a bit expensive for what it is

Nice cosy old fashioned pub, we sat by a lovely warm log fire. Limited selection of meals, poor vegetarian selection. Just had jacket potato with vegetarian chilli and salad. The pub was actually recommended to us.

Called in here with a group of friends 6 miles into our circular walk around Tewkesbury. It was honestly fine but the locals were a bit rude. We were all just chatting and waiting for our food (which took 40 minutes to arrive) and were getting stared down by a guy at the bar. Thankfully my friend does not feel intimidated by grumpy men and stared at him back with gusto, so piercingly that he left half a pint and went home to his presumably loveless marriage. Very iconic. Only one vegan option which was a moving mountains burger - nothing to write home about but it definitely filled a hole. Wouldn't hurry back!

We only popped in for drinks on a couple of occasions with our dogs whilst out walking in the area, and found this little gem. Lovely atmosphere and very welcoming to us and our furry friends. Will stop for food next time and can’t wait.

Travelled 85 miles south to join up with others travelling up from Wales. . When arrived , found out we were booked in restaurant which did not allow dogs. Bar staff went out way to fit our party to sit in bar together so dog was not drinking alone. Food great, beer great, prices excellent & staff attitude spot on. In the area again will pop in for something to eat and drink.

A group of 14 had Christmas menu lunch and child's lunch. We all enjoyed our meals the service was excellent and a great atmosphere Thank you all.

Lovely warm atmosphere with a traditional farm house feel. Lovely and clean, kind friendly staff and wonderful food. I would highly recommend coming here.

Disappointing, squashed in a corner, two sprouts, three beans, 1 and 1/2 baby carrots with roast dinner. Beef delicious but please more vegetables!

We visited here for Sunday lunch after it was listed as 1 of the top 10 places for Sunday lunch in the Worcestershire News. Lovely venue, staff pleasant. The food was very nice, no complaints about that. Our only issue was the service, the restaurant staff are indeed very young, once the main meal was delivered we couldn't get anyones attention again for any service.

Amazing pie and mash! Visited for dinner on a Saturday evening at 6pm. There is some parking across the street. Sat outside at one of the picnic tables in front. Beautiful outdoor eating area with lots of flowers. Ordered food at the bar. Took about 20 min to get the food. Everything was great. Loved the pie and mash, with very nice brown gravy. Chicken sandwich was great. The cole slaw was a little heavy on the mayo. Would definitely eat here again.

Curry night (tues) - good tasty food, decent portion. Popadoms were superb too. And the Butcombe Haka beer was ace!! Love the garden, and atmosphere - everyone friendly.

Both the beer and food were excellent, even the kids meal my son had looked really nice. Would definitely come back to this place again. Prices reasonable, cost around £60 for 3 meals and a few drinks each.

8 of us rocked up for a late lunch on a sunny afternoon in August. Lovely pub grub , 2 for £15 menu, hordes of food, good service, good beer all served in the garden. Definitely go again.

Super Sunday lunch which arrived so fast and was delicious. Lots of space for children to play and the dog was welcome too.

I'd avoid unless you're local. Never seem to be able to get food when we go. Kitchen either not open, or closed. Never surprised when local pubs like this go bust - but must do well out of the locals to be fair.

Three stars given as this was my first ever visit and I didn't order food. I called in on a Friday lunchtime for a 'refresher' during a walk around Bredon Hill. A characterful pub, cosy and welcoming. I would happily call again to try the food as it smelt delicious.

First time visiting The Star Inn which is the local pub for those living in the village. I was visiting a long time friend and his wife and they booked a table here for lunch. On ordering, I was told that "they serve ample positions here", and my friends were right. I was going for the Steak Ale Pie, but then decided on a baguette with bacon, brie and cranberry served with fries and salad. The food took awhile to arrive (hence the four stars) but when it came and I tasted it - first class! Maybe I should change the four to a five because good things comes to those who wait, but I was really hungry and it seems like ages. But eh, the food was amazing.

The staff are welcoming the beer was nice and the food was good could have been a bit hotter.

The food was incredible and the staff were lovely and very helpful. However be aware that accessibility was basically zero. There are steps everywhere and no ramps and there were no baby changing facilities so I had to change my son on the floor of the (very cramped) ladies. Quite a stressful experience! Good selection of gins and one of the best apple strudels of my life.

We were lucky to be there on Pie night! Nice discount. Pies were varied and all delicious. The vege option was cheese and onion. Loads of gravy. Well worth it. However, we asked 3 times for a jug of water for our table and are still waiting...🤣

Only had ham chips and eggs the hamwas nice and thick So it was ok

Excellent food and pleasant service. The roast beef and Yorkshire puddings were tremendous as was the mascapone cheesecake served with a quaint miniature milk bottle full of pouring cream. My elderly and disabled aunt was unable to eat her meal and the waiter offered to box it for her to take home which was much appreciated. Disabled access from the back car park was a problem that could be addressed.

Good food and vibes, however the mayonnaise didn't fit well with chips. Most staff were good and polite.

Spent a long Sunday lunch there over the coronation bank holiday weekend. Surprisingly quiet considering the standard of the food. Had roast pork. Huge portion with plenty of vegetables and flavoursome meat, stuffing and crackling. One of the best Sinday lunches I have had in a long time. Nice beer garden tucked away at the side of the pub..would highly recommend.

We took my grandmother here for Sunday lunch. With all the great reviews on Google, we thought it would be a safe bet. The pub itself does not lack charm. It's lovely, and the interior is quirky. A large open fire in the front room and opening up to a dining room at the back (where we ate). We arrived on time but our table wasn't ready and we were invited to order drinks at the bar. But there were several tables free and a quick like-for-like swap would have meant we didn't need to wait. The waiter took our order but there was quite a wait for us to receive the meal, maybe 30-40 mins. The waiter did apologise for the wait when they delivered the food. My Yorkshire pudding was burnt black and so I asked for a replacement, the replacement was even worse! Something my grandmother laughed at for a while so its entertainment value was good. Looking around the room, every Yorkshire pud looked like charcoal. You just wouldn't serve them, you'd mix up a new batter real quickly. The roast potatoes were overcooked with a thick crust, parsnips burnt. But the beef was fine as was the veg. My partner's chicken was cooked perfectly, they gave her loads. Had the rest of us ordered the chicken we might have been better off. Puddings are not homemade, Brakes food, perhaps? The staff here are really young, but lack experience/direction. They are all over the place and showed no initiative. Just seemed inefficient and all over the place. They just need a decent supervisor to whip things into shape. We weren't asked if our meals were okay until well after they were finished, During dessert, the girl asked to clear half the party's plates before everyone had finished. Overall, nice pub with, a lovely vibe, but poor food & service means we won't be recommending it to any friends. Much nicer places for the same price in the area.

We have been suggested this spot while staying in Ashton Under Hill by our host, and we started with our Easter Sunday Roast, which was fantastically cooked and abundant. We went again for the Wednesday Pie night and again the food was fantastic. Place is wonderful and very typical British. It's worth a visit while in the area

Birthday meal with friends. Been before back in the summer. Really disappointed this time. Long wait before order taken. Restaurant really cold. The waitress came and asked 3 times whether mash or chips were wanted with the venison pie. Waited nearly an hour for meals to arrive to find the chips with the chicken skewers were cold, the vegetables with the poachers pots were cold and practically rock hard. All faults pointed out to at least 2 waiters but apart from a half hearted apology, no solution offered. We paid the bill and left. We won't be returning. All in all a very lack lustre experience not to be repeated. To top it off when we left, the carpark had loads of youths running around the cars throwing ice and snow around. Not cheap and not worth a night out!

Our 2nd visit to the Star Inn, this time a pre Christmas family meal. I booked in advance, I had to call because the social media messages went ignored and when I emailed I got a blunt reply stating they only book until 1530 on a Sunday, the issue was we had clearly requested the Saturday at 1730. We arrived in good time, shown to our table and ordered. The young waitress returned that the local game hotpot was off the menu, I did ask what else was local and I just got a blank look so ordered the Lamb. The starters were pretty poor, my pork bites was a tiny portion though nice but the prawn cocktail was a joke, a half pint glass of unpeeled prawns, no Marie rose sauce or butter, this was returned. The mains were very good, each enjoyed them and top marks for the mains. We asked for the bill, and this is something I find very rude, the waitress brought the bill whilst hovering over me with the card machine, I checked the bill and it was wrong, they had added the next tables large wine, they removed it and brought it back and we paid, only after paying we found out our guest had paid for a Guinness but they took his payment and added it to our tab!! Too many kids running the place without direction or apology, we won't be visiting again.

Superlativo!!!!!!! Un vero e tipico pub inglese, in un piccolo paese al limitare della contea del cotswolds. Ambiente molto caldo e familiare, servizio ottimo, grande cortesia da parte di tutto lo staff. Cibo veramente ottimo, anzi ultra ottimo. Abbiamo preso garlick bread e due main. Una fish cake strepitosa e un pork belly tenerissimo e molto gustoso. La quantità era tale da avere difficoltà a finirlo, ma era talmente buono che non si poteva lasciare. Se siete in zona passateci, ne vale sicuramente la pena.

Shared a Ploughman's lunch. Much too much for one! Pretty good though.
