Sad and complete decline. The pub was empty and remained so for the duration of my visit. The one (reluctant, miserable) staff member sucked out any chance of making this visit enjoyable or tolerable. I have been visiting this pub for four years or so and I know how good it is (was) to visit this pub. But no longer. The bar staff member gave out a feeling that she was totally uninterested in any of the recommended attitudes she should adopt when running a pub. I say running but she isn’t when it comes to even the most basic definition of hospitality. She is the person who will be put in that role if you want the pub to fail.

This fine pub in Skircoat Green has recently reopened. I enjoyed a lovely pint of Taylor Landlord and studied the huge view across the Calder Valley. The pub has strong links to the Chartist movement of the 1840's and there is an interesting information inside this cosy pub. The landlord has gone to great effort to make the pub safer to use during the pandemic.

Dinner during a weekday. Booked table for four. When we went there it was about six and we were seated in the pokey part of the restaurant...dark and we cannot see the menu as it was that dark. Food ...nothing to write about. Fish and chips...and others ordered the burgers with chicken. Usual fare for restaurants. More choices in the town centre...

352 Ovenden RoadAbsolutely disgusting and well over priced!!! donner meat tasted microwaved chicken tasted off and chips had black bits all over them!!! Think an oil change is needed. Only thing that was nice was the salad the whole lot got binned!!!

The WorksI'm not sure why but our last 2 orders in March were cancelled. We can't get through to them on the phone either to see if they are actually taking orders. Great food but if you don't want to take orders, don't be available on here as it takes a weeks for JustEat to return your money.
