I recently visited The Londoner and was excited to experience the highly-praised ambiance and cocktail menu. However, I was incredibly disappointed with the selection of non-alcoholic options. For a high-end establishment in a city where diverse tastes are celebrated, I expected a more imaginative and varied selection. The choices available felt uninspired, as if they were afterthoughts compared to the extensive alcoholic cocktail list. In an era where many people are choosing alcohol-free alternatives, it’s disappointing that The Londoner hasn’t invested in offering a wider, more exciting range of mocktails. I was hoping for creative options with unique flavors or fresh ingredients, but what I got instead was limited and lacked the complexity I expect from a luxury hotel bar. If you’re looking for an impressive non-alcoholic drink experience, unfortunately, The Londoner may not be the place. I hope they consider expanding and improving this part of their menu in the future.

After leaving the 8 bar having visited two days in a row, we stopped by stage bar to have one last drink. It was mainly to listen to some entertainment. Two bar tenders working it was about 10.30pm one was visibly miserable from get go, lacking the hospitality-make you feel welcome. We go out in groups and it is not uncommon for a group to ask for a bill to be split in our case the total divided by three. This bar tender started with oh well you know if you split it the service charge will be added individually or something along those lines. That instantly got my back up because we are splitting the bill you have presented us, what is your issue? Then this unnecessary back and forth. It was not about the service charge which by the way is discretionary. It was clear he was irate by being asked to split the bill. It took him quite a while too, every other server brings a PDQ machine, gets a calculator and splits a bill very simple instruction! The customer is not always right and I would put my hands up; not in this case. The kind of attitude from this bar tender on 30 August is not what hospitality needs in this day and age. He really killed the vibe! I don’t go out to argue with people I go out to have a good time. In the UK, service charges in restaurants are optional and customers can choose to pay or not. Restaurants can decide to add a service charge, which is typically between 5–15% of the bill. The Employment (Allocation of Tips) Act 2023 will come into effect in the UK on October 1, 2024. This act will require employers to ensure that workers receive the full tip from customers. In this case would have never tipped! The issue was never about service charge but just in case this is not clear to some of your staff a tip is usually about good service it has almost become an expectation in some of these establishments irrespective of service good or bad!

Fantastic afternoon tea for my birthday. The staff was incredibly nice and explained everything to us. The food was delicious and the ambiance wonderful. I only have to take one star for the ambiance because people could just freely come in and sit down. It would feel better if it was a bit more secluded and exclusive. But we had a fabulous afternoon here.

We went to the Londoner for afternoon tea to celebrate a special birthday and were very disappointed. The tea lounge is in the lobby area and we were sat to the right of the hotel entrance, away from the main lounge; we almost felt like ‘add ons’. Thus it lacked atmosphere and people were coming in for take away cups of tea and there was general hustle and bustle. The sandwiches were ok, not exactly melt in the mouth moments like other five star hotels. The scones though, were delicious. Sadly we will not return and not recommend this five star hotel for afternoon tea.

We had high tea here on Thursday afternoon. I was hosting two friends from Sweden.we thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. Beautifully presented and super tasty from the glass of champagne to the delicious cakes! The staff were attentive but not fussy. My friends are sold on English tea time. Will definitely be back!

I'm very disappointed with the service. After day at work at one of the Mayfair restaurant`s me and my partner decided to have a afternoon drink at the hotel. Unfortunately after getting the table at the bar/ launch area nobody approached us. We have been seating there for a while and when the member of the stuff approached us it was only for us to move our seats to different table, without any explanation. Very disappointed in my first experience at the hotel.

I have tried so many afternoon teas in London, and this one was up there with the best! From start to finish, we had an amazing experience. The service was outstanding, and the best part was that nothing felt rushed at all. In total we spent over 2.5 hours in the restaurant, chatting away and enjoying the live music. Highly recommend to anyone looking for afternoon tea in London.

Had afternoon tea for Christmas at the Londoner today. Chose it over the Ritz which was a mistake. Food was average - some of the sandwiches were nicer than others, the scones were amazing and the pastries too however, when it came to the pastries, we sat down at 3:30 and by the time we chose our pastries (around 5:30) there were barely any left so we found we had to chose from only a few options which was frustrating given other tables had clearly had the opportunity to already chose theirs with a ‘reserved’ sign being place around them. In terms of atmosphere, we got sat on a table right by a wall which meant we couldn’t even see half the room. The table was outside of the cordoned off area for ‘the stage’ which meant we were right in the middle of the walk way between the entrance, guests rooms and people moving around the hotel generally. On top of this, we were sat right in front of the stage which meant we could barely hear when the live entertainment was on. We asked to move to a different seat, as there we plenty empty when we sat down. We were told all tables had been specially requested and so we had to stay put. No one sat down for about 30 minutes in any of these tables and those that did appeared to only have a few cocktails and some olives. For what we were spending, we felt this was disappointing and there was no where we saw where we could request a specific table (?) we had this booked for months. The only thing we can say was great was the service. The lady who served us was lovely, very attentive and pleasant. All in all, would I go back? No.

Afternoon tea was delicious sandwiches scones / just a pity that you only get the cakes last, we were so full that we could no longer eat them. it might be useful to ask them earlier. I also think it is extremely expensive.

I didn't care for the setting for afternoon tea. It's in the bar on the lobby. It's very busy, very loud, and not very comfortable seating. The amuse bouche was the best part of the tea, the rest I would describe as average. You got to get up and choose your desserts from a trolly. If you like to sit and relax and enjoy afternoon tea I would recommend a quieter spot. If you would like to have drinks pre-theater this would be a great spot to see, and be seen.

We had the most glorious experience at Afternoon Tea. Our server was patient, accommodating, knowledgeable, and over all made our experience one of the best in London. The amount of food for this experience is MORE than enough, definitely worth it! I lost the paper with our servers name, which makes me sad because he deserves a shout out!!! Thank you so much for everything, it was the best time and we will be back! This hotel was BEYOND gorgeous and was the perfect spot for a modern sexy afternoon tea. It's a must try! Cheers!

Overall, a wonderful afternoon tea experience! The staff were friendly and attentive and the food was good with an extensive tea range. The food is also refillable at no extra cost too as we requested extra sandwiches. We were also surprised with a lovely birthday treat as well which was very kind of the staff. Minor feedback for future improvement: at times, the sound system for the piano and singing was very loud and we had to raise our voices to have a conversation (not quite the afternoon tea ambience). Also, on the day we went (Saturday), I believe there was a conference on at the hotel so we had people regularly walking pass us in groups which was a bit distracting. Nevertheless, a lovely afternoon tea experience and I would recommend!

Took my mum here for her birthday! Was a wonderful experience. We have had many afternoon tea experiences and this was up there with the best. Relaxed atmosphere, excellent tasty fresh food, live entertainment and fantastic service. Was also really good value considering location and the 5 star experience. Nothing was too much trouble and when we asked for more scones they were happy to oblige. We couldn’t eat it all as they do give you an insane amount of food and so they packaged up what we didn’t eat to take home with us. The staff really were attentive friendly and helpful which all added to the experience. What we really liked was how you could really take your time and enjoy the experience. We never felt rushed or under pressure to leave. So many other London tea experiences are very much on an a clock and want you in and out asap but this was completely the opposite. Highly recommend and will definitely be returning ourselves.

When I booked I said I would like to share a set of afternoon tea with my friend as she is 9- month pregnant and couldnt eat much. The staff on phone was saying Ok but when we arrived the lady in the lobby said that’s “not true” cos the person picked up my call was the centralised staff which didn’t know the policy. I was so shocked as a customer I won’t be able to tell how the company was going to split the responsibilty. I was speechless when I was blamed back not booking directly via Opentable (???) Sorry don’t want to be Karen but I didn’t really enjoy the afternoon tea experience here

Lovely Afternoon tea. Great selection of sandwiches. Amazing scones and beautiful cakes. Staff were very attentive without being ‘in your face’. Only complaint was that the piano player was way to loud. Could really hold a conversation with each other. Not really what you’d expect of an afternoon tea

Incredible service for the high tea experience. Food was delightful and plentiful with many type of sandwich bites, scones, and two desserts at the end. The tea selection was great and delicious. We did the champagne add-on, but I wouldn't recommend it for the price. Service was great, with the only problem being that it took quite a while to get the check after asking for it. We were there almost 3 hours, which was a lot longer than expected. Regardless, a great experience!

First time and won’t be the last visiting The Stage at The Londoner. Decided to have a quick drink and some appetisers, with a friend, before we headed out to China Town for Dinner! Let’s just say we ate more than we had planned to… As we couldn’t resist the cakes! We could have happily cancelled dinner plans and stayed longer and snacked all evening! Staff were attentive and friendly! Great customer service! 😋😋😋

My boyfriend and I celebrated our anniversary here since Afternoon Tea has become a tradition for us for special events. To save you from reading my full review, I highly suggest going somewhere else. Our reservations were made for 14 May 2023 at 1300. We arrived 5-10 minutes late, but they were not fussed and led us to our table. The entire event was lackluster, with the washroom (bidet) and performer being the highlight of the day. As an afterthought, their clotted cream and amuse-bouche were delicious. Our bill came to £175 since we chose Rose Afternoon Tea. I chose this place because they are listed as having live music during our dining experience. If you want to spend that much and have a much better experience (in regards to live music) which is worth the amount we paid, please go to Hotel Cafe Royal instead. The comparison would not do Hotel Cafe Royal justice since ambiance alone would have them dominate over The Londoner. The sandwiches were plated nicely, but we skipped a few since the bread tasted stale. Scones were a nice size and we were able to finish all 4 of them since we didn't finish the earlier plates. We were given an option of two dessert pieces each which were decent. The servers were polite, checked in on us 3-4 times, and were easy to flag when we needed anything. My biggest complaint is that we were seated so far away from the stage, and pretty much situated at the lobby/entrance/doorway since there is no clear separation between dining guests and those that are checking into the hotel. I wouldn't come back again. And while it was a decent outing, it did put a damper on our celebration.

On a day out in London, as a group of ladies we were looking for somewhere to have a coffee. Well forget your Nero’s & Costa’s for a little bit extra do it in style at The Londoner. We were greeted by a very friendly doorman who welcomed us & said no problem to us calling’s in for a coffee. We were directed where to go & were greeted by a friendly member of staff who effortlessly sorted a table for four. Beautiful bar in a sublime central London new hotel. Coffee & tea were perfect served in bone china & with a home made biscuit. We all agreed for a little extra money it was lovely to be somewhere calming & with excellent service. The decor of this new 5* hotel it beautifully modern classic. Will definitely revisit for either dinner or to stay.

Shockingly bad service this afternoon in the bar. I came here for a VIP event recently and had a great experience so brought my relatives in for a few glasses of champagne this afternoon as we had a family get together. We were ignored by 4 male staff for 15 minutes on arrival, they were just standing around the bar area chatting. My cousin finally went up to the bar to get the drinks menu. We ordered a bottle of champagne and other drinks. The woman member of staff who served us was very polite and friendly. We had issues again when trying to pay, it took ages to get someone to bring the bill. When we were paying the bill the male member of staff told the woman who was putting lights on all the tables not to put them on our table, she obeyed and put them on every table except ours. It was a really strange experience. I really have no idea why most of the staff were so rude and offhand. I won’t be coming back.

Absolute five star experience. Everything on the menu tasted fantastic, it was generous but not overfilling, the staff were pleasant and attentive without being in your face, the teas are fantastic selection from the East India Company and the desserts are simply incredible. A group of 5 attended for drinks and bar snacks. At pretty much every stage in different parts of the hotel and bar (with the exception of one or two staff) we felt challenged and unwelcome and actively discouraged from being there. It was less ‘how can we help’ and more ‘where are you going?’. Rubbish service. Rubbish food. Overpriced even for where it is.

The hotel has luxurious and modern design, but I was really impressed by the people who work there and make this hotel shine even more. In particular Dario at the stage bar was incredible, he’s very knowledgeable and definitely you can notice he has passion for his job. Sunday afternoon tea. Cute but extremely chaotic environment, there is no real separation between where the afternoon tea is served and where people have to wait for check in at the hotel. We tried to call 3 times the restaurant to make one change but no one was picking up the phone. The table was set near a reception of another restaurant, quite annoying having all the guests checking in the restaurant attached to your table. For the first part of the afternoon tea the waiters and manger were really nice and attentive, in the second part totally absent, they also forgot to ask us which pastries we wanted to finish the tea. When we finished they charged 54£ more for the pastries that were already included in the afternoon tea, big mistake! No on apologised for the mistake. 15% of service charge (we payed anyways)? I'll say 0%.

Very welcoming, had to reschedule an afternoon tea at the last minute but ended up enjoying a solo afternoon tea as a treat (needing some soul & body comfort to unwind). Turned out to be a great idea though can I just say, don't have breakfast before and no need for dinner afterwards! Starting with the amuse-bouche that was really lovely, fresh and playing on various textures and flavours, followed by a three-layer sandwich stand that looks never ending (bread is incredibly fresh and not stale or dry even at the extreme ends and the sandwiches were actually tasty, might I say however that the spiced mayonnaise lacked a bit of a kick), then come the awaited scones, fresh out of the oven. My favourite part of an afternoon tea, which had a twist: bergamot curd! Lovely, very creamy yet light and full of the bergamot/citrus flavour. Had the English rose and the Lemon meringue. Would not necessarily recommend the former to people who do not want/like too sweet a cake but the former was a definite winner in my book. Oh and the teas were fantastic - one Oolong Gaba tea (not sure I felt the hint of vanilla) and one superb Green Jade sword tea. The staff were friendly and helpful, lovely music in the background, I was completely relaxed at the end of the tea but so full I ended up walking home - maybe there should be a tea + gym combo for those like me who can't leave even one scone or sandwich aside haha! Anyway, would recommend eyes closed, and cannot wait to return there :)

We went for drinks with friends before going for a show. The bar is lovely and the service at the table was impeccable. However after paying and leaving we were followed down the street by a member of staff who we hadn’t seen before shouting at us that we hadn’t paid! As I’d paid by contactless and didn’t have a receipt we came back with her to the bar so that she could check with our waitress that she we had indeed paid. Our waitress confirmed that this was the case. There was no apology instead the woman who had come running after us simply started shouting at her colleague for some issue in the way our order had been registered at the till. We were simply ignored. The whole experience was embarrassing and simply unprofessional due to the attitude of the staff member concerned. We will not be coming back.

My partner and me went to the Londoner for our anniversary. We initially had a booking at the 8 but as soon as we entered the building we were welcomed by the perfect ambience which included live music, friendly staff and very comfortable looking seating. We decided to stay at the stage and we are so happy we did. We ordered a bottle of champagne and the cheese platter. The environment was perfect, the music excellent, the food and drink lovely but the most important thing to us is how the staff interact with us and how well looked after we feel. We were very pleasantly surprised at just how accommodating the staff were. Our waiters made sure that our drinks were topped up, that we felt happy and relaxed and had everything we wanted and needed. Everyone went out of their way to accommodate us, the communication was friendly and professional at all times and we felt so relaxed and happy. A special shout out goes to Gabor who is clearly managing his team extremely well and his lovely staff, Amelie and Olli. Also a special thank you to Jonathan and Janis for our special anniversary cocktail, we really enjoyed it. Thank you for making our night so incredibly special and looking after us so well.
