Local recommendation for food and well worth the visit. Absolutely stellar food. I had the fillet steak medium rare and it literally melted in my mouth. The whole plate was well constructed and it was the best steak I've had in years. My partner had one of the fish dishes which she was equally as happy about. We both had desert and left content and on a food high. Service was good, quick and polite. Would certainly recommend and it is worth booking as they were busy

Fantastic. Went as a couple for a treat, about an hours drive for us, but well worth it. Parked in car park (small, but plenty of parking on roads if needed), quickly shown to table, glass of prosecco in hand , and service was quick, polite, friendly and not overbearing. Food amazing - it was a theme night with glass of fizz and a fish/chips/pea meal for £20, various fish to choose from, both whole fillets and goujons, various flavoured batters to add, beer batter, dill and lemon were both chosen and very tasty. The mushy peas were awesome - no idea about the ingredients, other than peas, but they were proper lovely !

Lovely stop off for lunch on the way back from Barafundle Bay. It was quite expensive as we hadn't realised the menu was quite upmarket, instead of a country pub but the staff were lovely fitting us in. Would recommend you have a booking but we were very lucky we got there before the rush. There did seem to be confusion about where was dog friendly and where wasn't. The garden looked really lovely and was busy when we left. Would recommend the hummus and the cawl.

We booked Sunday lunch at this pretty pub via their website, sending a note at the same time that we wished to be seated in the bar area as we were bringing a dog. On arrival we were told that we were not booked in the bar area, but in the restaurant as the bar was fully booked. Fortunately it was a gloriously sunny Sunday for mid October and so we were able to eat in the garden. The food was good, particularly the swede mash and the large bowl of green vegetables. Desserts were also delicious. I can imagine that this place is very busy in summer and if you want to eat in the bar with a dog I would call rather than book online to make sure you get a table.

This restaurant is a bit off the beaten track; down narrow roads in a national trust area. It is extremely popular with tourists and locals and booking is a must. The car park is small and we failed at 6.30 to find a spot and it was difficult to turn in the congested space. There was parking along the village street but we were a good walk away on a damp night. The inn is accessed by the front through the garden with a side access for dogs accompanied by their owners. The restaurant had a number of areas. It was very busy even at the early hour and wall-ins were turned away. The service was good; polite and friendly staff. The food was good...as per most reviews on this page. We had hock terrine and a feta and mushroom tart to start and both were delicious. The tart was warm and very tasty. For mains one had fish and chunky chips....they had no problem making tweaks to the menu for us. The Wagyu burger off the specials menu, with black pudding, bacon and blue cheese was fabulous and the skinny fries crispy and dry. Why not a 5 star review? I am sure this will be controversial but I do not think restaurants are a place for dogs! Yes...they have a separate entrance and their own area, but just one table away from us was a mid to large size dog that insisted on sitting in the middle of the walk way...trip hazard to staff.. and it did take issue with another dog. The owner was not very proactive in controlling it. It really seems to be a 'thing' in this area as most places we went were 'dog friendly'....with less thought given to non-dog fans. Sadly. Would we eat here again? Hell Yes! The price is good compared to similar eateries in our area of Somerset and the quality was excellent. The person running the pass needs a star..as food was coming out at a great rate.

Arrived early (5pm) on a rainy Monday evening hoping to have dinner. Have been before and had positive experience but had our dog with us this time. Lots of signs telling people with dogs to use side entrance. Only a few tables in the dog friendly area (and these were large tables but only set for a few people) and apparently all of those were were booked. No welcome, or suggestion to come back at a later time. Definitely felt dog owners not welcome. Rest of place looked empty so we headed off to somewhere more dog friendly and business minded. Not many businesses can afford to turn away customers. I’d also suggest a few smaller tables so that the space in the dog friendly area could be better used/more flexible.

Lovely location and restaurant and friendly service. White wine was lovely as were our starters but unfortunately our Sunday lunch fell very short on our expectations. Thought this was a pub but it’s actually a restaurant masquerading as an inn. There is no indoor area that is not laid out for dining. I popped in whilst out walking, for a beer and was told the only place I could sit down was outside; fine on a pleasant day, but it was quite a chilly breezy evening. I understand that in order to survive as a viable business these places need to adapt the business model, but it does seem that the village has no pub where locals can simply come in for a drink on an evening unless they are prepared to sit outside.

We have eaten here on numerous occasions before and all good, had Sunday lunch on the 2nd Jun, excellent meal and service, however visited again on the 12th June for an anniversary lunch but this time with our dog. On approaching the bar and asking about the dog the dark haired waiter /front of house at the till said to go in side area of restaurant, ok so moved to go to side area but told no, go out and round to side entrance, when inside left to wonder what table to sit at? one table laid out for 2 persons so sat down, waiter commented "yeh that's the one"and 10 mins. later we had ask if we could order some drinks and then was told we will get to you in in a minute! ??? The eventual meal we had was excellent but obviously that soured our visit, that member of staff needs sending on a customer relations course and the owners certainly need to deal with his attitude, all he had to do was say "this table here and can I get you some drinks while you wait". Nice place, excellent food but the restaurant and other staff let down by one obnoxious individual! Oh, and they were not that busy that day and from where we were seated we could sea they had time to stand and chat???

I first visited in 2022, the food was amazing and Matt was doing a very good job. Upon my recent visit this March, the menu had changed slightly but had kept the same core options. But the daily specials offered some interesting choices. We ate from the specials choosing the Monkfish and the Halibut. Both far exceed what I had experienced last time, the Halibut alone was presented perfectly and was Pembrokeshire on a plate! The menu is very well thought out, screams local produce and focuses on of local Welsh cuisine, with a few classic favourites in for safety sake. The Stackpole in deserves to be ranked in the top restaurants in Pembrokeshire, Wales and the UK.

There was a choice of meats for the main which all came with massive Yorkshire puddings, roast/mashed potato, swede and a side dish of assorted vegetables. Fantastic food, beautifully cooked and great value for money. It's just a pity we live 100 miles away otherwise I'd be back there next week. Couldn't fault the service and the staff were great. First visit here for lunch and we had a tasty meal but the service was a little below what I expected. Nothing specific but it had the air of "first job out of school" with the wait staff! However the most annoying thing was the staff member doing laptop admin, taking and making phone calls and listening to answerphone messages all on speakerphone while sat at a table about 5 yards from us...surely there's an office or you could invest in a headset so we don't hear every conversation! Most disrupting during an otherwise peaceful lunch!

Sadly this was the second visit that I bought my family to enjoy an evening out. We waited for menus..asked for menus and yet the waitress came to the table and asked us all if we were ready to order..we all looked at her shocked as we had no menu... As our last visit the fish n chips were greasy..very..and the oil tasted dirty.. The sole that came out was expensive for a piece of fish with crayfish and sauce £23 and no veg..no potatoes..which was abit strange and not on really.. Also the puddings were over microwaved and well not great.. We asked for water for the table.. twice and that didn't come out.. This little gem of a pub seems to have gone down hill quite alot lately and does seem to be the same opinion from many locals here in Freshwater.. really sad the owners seem to think the standards are being kept but they are not.. We won't be going back tbh...nor will our family members after a very expensive unsatisfactory meal..

Steak meal had strange burnt butter taste to everything (mushrooms etc) and steak over char-grilled on exterior. Disappointed that by 7.30pm several specials, and...

We’d heard the The Stackpole Inn was one of the best restaurants in the area. On the morning of our booking my wife had read some poor reviews in trip advisor and we almost cancelled. Thank goodness we didn’t as we enjoyed a superb meal...

Disappointed. Having seen the restaurant on tv we booked and were excited. Unfortunately we haven’t got anything good to say. Cutlery was mishandled and had finger prints all over. The fish was rock hard and returned. The beef special was chewy and hard with no...

This is one of our favourite restaurants in the area. Make sure you reserve a table as it is very popular. The car park is quite small but overspill on the road is quite normal. The whole place is clean and well looked after, with...

Early evening meal booked for a group. All food was pre-ordered and was served punctually and efficiently. The salmon main dish was a popular choice, served with optional side dishes. All the main courses contained seasonal vegetables as part of the dish and were aesthetically...

I used to go here on occasion while stationed at Brawdy. It was a great place to go after a session of surfing. I was saddened to hear that it recently suffered a fire.

Absolutely amazing food. Excellent service. Nothing is too much trouble. Staff are friendly, chatty & helpful, and it’s clean. Definitely recommend the coronation chicken, cheese salad. Hubby had baked spud first time which he enjoyed & baguette 2nd time each he enjoyed. And the cakes WOW!! I will miss the carrot cake which I highly recommend & the custard slice is just as amazing. The cost is brilliant too. Thanks you Phillys Baguettes

Ordered two crab sandwiches latte and a beer, £35. Staff need a pick me up or it’s been a hard season. The crab sandwich was good, spoonful of coleslaw, frozen chips. Was told to help myself to a glass for the beer, everyone looked not properly washed, picked the cleanest but still had bubbles down inside indicating grease. Latte was tasteless. Not a pleasant experience won’t be back.
