The place itself looks nice. Staff are a bit vacant or uninterested? Ordered an egg brunch bap - for £4.80 I was expecting lovely artisan sourdough something but this was a super cheap white bap - if you typically struggle with digesting bread stay far away form this. It's just poor quality. Sausage roll was oily - edible but did not sit well afterwards. Such a shame as the food does not reflect the overall look and feel of the place. Expected far more. Will not be returning.

Lovely stables, beautifully decorated inside with all the stalls kept to create private booths. Outside was great for a sunny day with comfortable chairs and parasols. We had great bacon baps, coffee and cake. It was all very good and the service was prompt and smiling

The attractive gallery building leads on to the Stables Cafe which offers quirky tables inside the old horse boxes. We only had hot drinks and a vegetarian "sausage" roll between us but the food was very tasty and service most charming. The menu looks very good if you want a light lunch or bunch and it's a conveniently short detour if walking along the Thames path and/or heading for Hammerton's Ferry, which we were.

We visited as a family - with our dog - the website makes it clear "well behaved dogs are very welcome". However, on arriving it became clear they were only welcome outside so we had to sit outside in the cold. We asked for a table and were told it was OK to set up our own. No help offered so we literally had to carry and set up 2 folded tables, and move 5 seats. Not particularly welcoming. We ordered food and drinks. The hot drinks arrived around 15 minutes before any food. For three cups of tea we were given 2 very small pots of milk. We asked for a third but it never turned up. The food was fine, although the menu was uninspiring and the cheese toasties were particularly small. I understand prices and costs have risen in the past year but this did seem quite stingy. This place used to be very impressive with a wide range of food options. We thought we would try it again but to be honest won't be rushing back.

A lovely location but the attitude of the girl serving was appalling, rude , abrupt, we asked for some sugar for the coffee and she said that there was a service area for that

Abismal. The menu is the most basic menu I have ever seen - offering a cheese toastie and kids pasta. There is no effort whatsoever with the food. Such a shame. It used to be the exact opposite but has since changes ownership.

What a shame! We used to come to this place all the time as it’s in such a beautiful setting. The menu was creative and food was delicious. I suspect it’s now been taken under new ownership and what a shame. The staff are nice and polite but it now has a depressing and unimaginative menu, the highlight being reheated tomato pasta. Avoid at all costs. I sincerely hope someone with some passion and vision comes to save this place because we’ve lost a fantastic local gem.

Enjoyable afternoon with a friend, love the snug sits inside felt like a private club. The vegan toasted sandwich was tasty and the green smoothie was lush. Thank you. 💜

We met friends at the Stables on Saturday 20th August at 3.30. There was absolutely no Cake or biscuits available. We were told they were awaiting a delivery. We have visited the Stables frequently over the years but less and less frequently of late and possibly no more. There were a lot of people there they must have been equally disappointed.

Over 30 minutes waiting for 2 iced coffees! Really? Not only that, but they were overpriced and tasted awful.

Was taken by a friend who lives locally for lunch on Wednesday 29 June. Not sure where to begin as I have nothing good to say. The excuse for all that went before and after was that they were changing the menu next day. Front of house young lady was so laid back and rude And was heard saying under her breath “oh just go somewhere else then”! There were several key items off the menu (bagel and salad + 2 others) which meant pretty much only choice was a very tomatoey looking corn chowder and eggs with bacon or sausage: however as we didn’t order those may well have been “off” too. In my view , they should have presented a revised menu or a board saying actually what they did have. Understandably we left having not eaten but very hungry as was 1.30 by this time. My suggestion would be that the staff need to be more amenable, and know at any one time what is available and perhaps suggest a tasty alternative to lure customers to stay and eat. I couldn’t possible recommend this potentially, delightful little cafe on the side of the Thames in such a rich and enlightening environment. Sorry Chris

An absolutely great place to spend a well earned rest mid dog walk...I would highly recommend the delicious selection of homemade cakes to help regain some energy. They even sell biscuits and ice cream for your trusty hounds.

A welcome addition to Twickenham’s breakfast options (light lunches and afternoon tea too) with a mainly healthy range of options (some vegan) and no sign of a ‘full English’. We had mozzarella and avocado toasties which were generous and well presented, coffee was good too. There are pleasant outside and inside seating options and Orleans House itself (English Heritage) is worth a visit. Positive first impressions slightly compromised by poorly trained and inattentive staff who failed to clear and clean tables efficiently or notice customers outside needing attention. Management please note – all they have to learn is to scan the area constantly and never return to the kitchen empty handed. Simple stuff – but what a difference it can make.

We booked the Stables cafe for 20 for Prosecco and canapés after our sons wedding at Orleans House. From the communication before hand with Carlotta to the service on the day we could not have asked for more, helpful, professional and most importantly friendly. The canapés looked beautiful and tasted just as good, thank you to the lovely lady who served the Prosecco and totally grasped how I wanted the table lay out to be. Really appreciated your part in making our day so special

Lukewarm overpriced coffee with a stale dry overpriced slice of cake (obvs not baked the same day), served by a bored girl behind the counter. My first visit to this cafe and it will prob be my last.

Coeliacs? Take your chances! Love Kew. Members for years. First visit since becoming Coeliac. No labelled GF options. On investigation, this was not obvious, some salads, were available, but were self service and cross-contamination was rife. Assistant didn't initially understand this but kindly went and got me some fresh from the kitchen. No cakes or sandwiches were available in any restaurant. Disappointing really.

The staff made us feel very welcome and the service was both friendly and efficient. We had a family reunion with lots of children of various ages . We had a great lunch and have fond memories. Would recommend this pub . Special thank you to Jade .
