Friendly and Pub with a homely atmosphere 🌟 We visited the St George and Dragon in the summer holidays during quieter hours and was treated to friendly service and food that was well cooked and plentiful in portion, but perhaps lacking a bit of spice and flavour. We had the two courses for £16 which worked out as a very good deal for the food we had. The pizza was fresh and appeared to be homemade but had little toppings on top. The calamari was bland and the chips were not soft and fluffy and were rather chewy. We were left waiting for service on multiple occasions and it appeared that we had been forgotten about at the end of our meal and chose to leave as opposed to having another drink or dessert as planned. 🌟 Recommendations: Homemade Pizza ⛔️ Drawbacks: Sevice was slow, bland food overall 🦑 Squid Rating: 6/10 🌟🌟🌟/ 5 Stars

Three meals ordered, 3 times cooked chips were hard and not edible. Fish batter very dark, perhaps an oil change needed. Mac and Cheese, claggy, symptomatic of micro wave cooking. Prawns and Chorizo dish, chorizo was rubbery. Having had really good value food here in the past this was an extremely disappointing visit. The person in charge apologised profusely and did not charge for the food. This was gratefully accepted but doubt I shall choose to return unfortunately. Is it a new "Chef" , certainly way off previous standard.

Table for four on Saturday for our son’s birthday, the environment is beautiful full of olde charm blended with modern feel, spotless clean. Really nice menu. The staff are so friendly we had a waitress called Tracey and she was amazing, so friendly, full of life and she made our day with her input. Our Son did not want a desert so she appeared with a plate with chocolate sauce strawberry and a candle singing happy birthday such fun. The food was home cooked and amazing. We had a booking on Saturday for 6:30pm. Hardly anyone in the pub, now we know why... My mum asked for the lamb rump dish but that was not available, so she had to have fish and chips. We wanted rib eye steak which they had however if you wanted sirloin they didn't have it but that's ok because we ordered what we originally wanted. However, they didn't have peppercorn sauce either... on a Saturday evening. The steaks came out and 1 was a sirloin steak, but they denied it, they clearly don't know steak because the size, shape, fat areas and texture was sirloin. So we paid for a rib eye and got sirloin. Which was over cooked as was my 'rib eye.' The bearnaise sauce we had to have as no peppercorn was vile... I mean it was a hollandaise with tarragon put in it. The fish and chips my mum had didn't seem fresh and the batter was THICK to the point where she couldn't eat it because it wasn't cooked. We know the manageress had been supporting in the kitchen due to chef issues, but clearly no one knows what they are doing there. You pay alot for an awful meal. There's no care from the manager, my mum even cut her lip on a chip in the wine glass and although the waitress asked for the drink to be free for us, there was no sign of apology from the manageress or any presence of her. As a manager myself, I'd of personally come over to my mum to ensure she wasn't hurt. Service from the staff were generally miserable especially the faces on them. Except for Tracy. She was hilarious and I'd love to see her again. Unfortunately we'd been here pre covid and loved it so came back on Saturday as a treat when visiting my mum. But we will not be returning again, so many more pub resturants across Devon to try, you need to up your game.

We regularly go here for a meal. The food and service are excellent. They cater well dietary needs (gluten and dairy at least). Roasts are excellent but so is all their food we have tried. You can bring your dog into parts of the restaurant and they are welcomed warmly! They have some lovely large round tables which are great if you have a few of you. And also some more tucked away small tables if you want some quiet. You can stay here. We never have as we are local but it looks a lovely place to stay.

Just had a meal at the George & Dragon , table pre booked & told them wife had a Pork allergy .Wife couldn't have a roast as they had run out of gravy , only option was vegan gravy (she already knew was tastless) . No extra gravy for children until we complained . Prawn cocktail came covered in paprika (no mention of paprikaon menu) with no bread as had come up in kitchen as glutin free ? Then bread straight out of fridge very cold . Next my son in law gets gluten free roast with tiny Yorkshire, smaller than children's . He is not gluten free . One thing after another . Reduced the bill but still over £100 . Not impressed at all . Paid at least £40 more than all was worth. Waitress was very good but embarrast . Won't be rushing back . Run out of gravy ???? 4 adults 2 children . We are local as well .

Staff came to take our order munching on carrot. I appreciate staff need to eat/take a break, but think this should be protected time, for the benefit of staff members, and customers. Staff seemed poorly informed about coeliac disease, and relevant menu choices. I wonder if staff are given appropriate training? My friends requested pints of Diet Pepsi, and I requested a half pint of soda and lime. My friends queried the size of the drinks when they arrived, , and we were told they were ‘large’, and ‘medium’, respectively. I appreciate this is a small detail, but this issue could have been avoided by informing us of the sizing when we ordered. My friend asked, politely, to speak to the person in charge, but no one materialised throughout our meal. My friends’ (Sunday roast) meals were cold when they arrived. This was addressed when staff were informed. We informed staff that we had asked to speak to the person in charge whilst we were settling the bill. Staff apologised, but did not offer to secure someone for us to give feedback in person. Consequently, this feedback is in a more public context. I appreciate that hospitality industry is short staffed, and appreciate staff turning up for work. It would presumably be better for staff and customers if appropriate education and training is given in respect of dietary requirements, drink sizes if the customer is unaware of the measures used in the particular establishment, the serving of food at appropriate temperatures, and protected break times for staff.

Do you seriously expect customers who order at 12.00 midday (we were one of the first to arrive) to wait until 1.30 for the main courses to arrive? After waiting for 90 minutes our 5-year-old was losing the will to live - and so were the adults. We then waited another 40 minutes for our puddings at which point we told them to not bother and just send over the bill. We had the same experience a year ago and we stupidly gave them a second chance. We won't be going back. Thanks for ruining father's day! Management, get your act together and get enough staff in the kitchen to justify the £30 a head charge.

As we walked in I noticed the poor state of the windows, not a good first impression. The service was ok but the food was pretty awful. My mother in law had the poorest excuse for a pizza, in fact it was dreadful. My father in law and I both had gammon steak, it was ok, peas were passable and chips were not the best. My wife had a steak sandwich with a bit of lettuce in it and she said it was ok. On the whole not a great experience, would I go back? no. My husband and I went here for a meal on Thursday evening, we arrived at 7.45 and had to wait to be seated as the table was not cleared. We were not even asked if we would like a drink whilst we waited. On being seated at our table we had to wait 20 minutes for the waitress to come to take our order. She apologised and seemed friendly and took our order. Our dinner eventually came to us at 8.55pm by which time we were getting really annoyed. We ate our meals and decided that by that time it was too late to have a dessert and decided we would just have coffee. We sat and waited and waited and nobody came, then the manager dressed in jeans came around to clear tables. He cleared the table next to ours and then without even looking at us or speaking just picked up our empty plates and walked away. My husband and I were both gobsmacked. There was no “did you enjoy your meal “ or “can I get you anything else “. The service was absolutely shocking and we were very disappointed and actually disgusted at the service. We went to the bar to pay our bill as no one came back and even the young lad at the bar just took our money and he didn’t even ask if we enjoyed our meal or was everything ok. Do these people have no training any more on customer service. The only good thing was the food was very nice just a shame the service was shocking, we will not be going back or recommending to anyone else.

Very disappointed. Our booking was for 7.15pm but we were phoned and asked if we could move it to 6.15pm as the kitchen was closing at 7.30 due to emergency repair work. This was fine but then we saw a lot of food coming out of the kitchen at 8.15pm and the staff were tasting it having a training session. This made us think that the emergency repairs was not true. Also our food was disappointing. The calamari starter tasted like it was straight out of the freezer and it was way too salty. 2 of our party ordered due of lamb and asked for it to be cooked rare. They both came out very well done and the rumps had been cut into small pieces to cook quickly. I had the chicken curry which was tasty but the piece of chicken was really dry and hard to chew. It tasted like it had been microwaved. Despite the issues, the staff were nice and gave us 2 of the mains for free. I’ve had really good roast dinners in this pub before so I may come again but will be wary of ordering anything that is not freshly made.

Food was good, we like the Sunday roast. Emily our waitress was just excellent. Definitely manager material, she has hospitality nailed especially given her age.

Pizza was good, the sauce didn’t get anywhere near the edges but the base was fantastic although there may be a pepperoni fascist in the kitchen, mine had only 6 pieces. Probably 3.5 stars overall based on the pizza. The reason for 5 stars - Honey Pot dessert. Wow! I’m having another one tonight. An edible honey pot with ganache and honeycomb, a scoop of honeycomb ice cream and a crunchy biscuit all drizzled with delicious bee-juice. What a triumph. Staff are lovely and jolly. We had a really good time there and will visit again when we’re next in the area.

Food was good but unfortunately woefully understaffed meaning we waited over an hour for our lunch and one had to be sent back because it was cold. Felt sorry for the staff who where lovely considering the pressure they were under.

Horrendous! Had a baguette Brie/spinach and bacon. 2 spinach leaves in either side of the baguette. Ate some of the baguette upon chewing a complete slice of virtually raw bacon in my mouth… I picked

Another trip to Aviator for what was going to be a LIGHT lunch. Both had toasties which we later found came with a small portion of chips. My tuna melt was absolutely loaded as was my husband's cheese
