The Square Orange Cafe Bar in Allerdale

Tapas style food. Good ambience and good service. Food nothing to write home about. Nachos were ok. Gambia’s were cooked perfectly. Chickpea curry tasted ok but lacked some seasoning. Patata bravas were fine. Baked figs were just ok. All in all decently priced and friendly service were the highlight for me.

We arrived because of the google recommendation and were highly disappointed. The cups were all dirty, and when they brought "new ones", they were still dirty but full of the water they washed it with. The food was not very good as well. The pizza was impossible to eat because it was too dry and broke to pieces as soon as you tried to hold it. The tapas were not very tasty as well.

If you like your food served by people who hand feed dogs at the same time, whilst letting the dogs lick their hands - THIS is the place for you : terrible hygiene standards

Ate here for the first time this evening, we will definitely be back. The food was amazing, we shared a delicious pizza, camenbert, hummus with olives and garlic mushrooms with truffle oil. Everything spot on and great service and atmosphere. Thanks.

Homemade meatballs were delicious. Pizzas were decent - if a bit thin. Good fresh ingredients - anchovies very fresh. Service was pleasant.

Delicious food! The service was quick and friendly. I’d definitely recommend the truffle oil pizza. They had a whole vegan menu too.

We ate here twice it was that good… Menu had a wide choice and also loads of Vegan options for my partner. One of the best pizzas I’ve had!

We really enjoyed our dinner here; firstly the music, atmosphere and service was 10/10. There is a fab selection of drinks on offer: cocktails, beer, wine, coffee... We had pizza and tapas; it was high quality, delicious food. We particularly enjoyed the burrata with pesto, dunking in the ciabatta; and the chorizo which we paired with the baked figs dish. A great little business to enjoy anytime of the day!

Myself & my partner decided to choose The Square Orange as our date night location during our holiday in Keswick this week, and it did not disappoint. It was busy every time we walked past so we thought it would be a good idea to book a table in advance but was told it was walk in only (which was fine with us!) When we arrived there weren't any tables available on the main floor but was told we could have a small table for 2 down the back which suited us as it meant we were away from the noise of the floor (only interrupted every so often by people going to the toilet) The food was incredible and they had lots of vegan options (one of the reasons we chose it). We ordered a vegan pizza #15, vegan nachos, vine leaves, patatas bravas, and King prawns - all of which were delicious and plenty filling for 2! The vine leaves were a big hit with my partner, and I loved the nachos + patatas bravas, though all of it was delicious. The waiting staff were very friendly and checked in on us, even though we were tucked away. The music was great and the overall atmosphere was excellent. The only thing is that it's a shame we were only there for our holiday, otherwise we would happily go here all the time!

A great little find for some really tasty food before going to the theatre. Every dish was delicious and we struggled to choose from the menu as there were so many delicious options. Staff were really friendly and food came quickly. Will definitely be back for a pizza!!

Absolutely fantastic little eatery and coffee house. We had the No. 5 pizza with the pulled pork and red onion, and delicious creamy coffees. Staff are friendly and helpful, priced very reasonably. Thanks for the lovely lunch. 😉 P.S. It is a dog friendly establishment

Our favourite place for coffee and lunch in Keswick. Staff are great coffee top notch and the pizza and tapas are really good. Just stopped for a coffee and cake this time. Love the atmosphere too.

Lovely friendly and attentive staff. The restaurant is pretty small, so we were offered hot drinks whilst we waited outside for a table. We were then called in and our order was taken quickly. There are plenty of vegan options including pizza and tapas and the food was really tasty and perfect for sharing. The venue is also dou friendly.

Fabulous lunch. The food choices are amazing. Highly recommend the Tapas dishes! More importantly, the staff make the overall experience, something special. At the front of house, was a lovely, welcoming person called Cherry. Superb! Couldn't have done anymore for us. Can't wait to come back. Steve & Helen. XX

What a fabulous place - no wonder it always seems packed to the rafters. We had tapas and nachos which were all delicious. The pizza also looked fab and a great range of drinks. The staff were also lovely even if some of the customers were a bit grumpy.

Wow what an amazing Bistro in the centre of keswick food and atmosphere is amazing. So friendly and welcoming we ate here 3 nights in a row and brought friends as knew they would love it too ❤️

What can I say about this place. Quite simply amazing. We are here two nights in a row and what an awesome menu. The pizza is fantastic as were all the tapas dishes we tried, from king prawns to the meatballs, oh the meatballs, the best I've ever had. The staff were great, the beer was great the vibe of the place and just everything about it is right up my street. I can't wait to return

I have eaten here on numerous occasions. I love the food. After my second visit in one week we were very disappointed. When we were initially ignored, my friend then asked a waitress who had given menus to a couple who had entered the establishment a while after we had, for a menu. The waitress glared at her then with attitude snidely said yes. She then threw two menus at us onto the table! She was incredibly rude. Horrible, horrible person. So disgusting. My friend was understandably hurt by this reaction & we got up & left the cafe.

Had the tapas. I had the stuffed mozzarella and my wife had the potatoes. We also had the nachos with chilli and a side of olive oil and bread. All of the food was gorgeous and great value. We will come again and I will have the pizza next time, as they looked amazing. Also they’re dog friendly and accommodated us despite the size of ours.

We had a great meal here while we were in Keswick for a few days. I’m newly diagnosed as celiac so was great that nearly everything was without gluten. They didn’t have any gluten free bread to go with the tapas but was asked if I wanted some nachos and if I wanted them separate from the bread ( which husband had) which was great. We had the nachos and three tapas between us and liked it all. We were lucky that we got a table straight away even though there were a few in. We would definitely eat here again. Husband said he would try a pizza .

Early evening tapas whilst staying in Keswick. 5 tapas was enough between two and all were great. Service was friendly and including 2 drinks it came to under £40. Great food, great value. What’s not to like?

We visited on 11 January. We shared a pizza, some of the fabulous meat balls, the vine leaves and some hummus. It was all lovely and the staff friendly and efficient as usual. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

We visited after recommendation and were not disappointed. We did have to wait as there is a no booking system but its a testament to the place how popular it is as it was packed with people waiting for tables. The food was outstanding and the service friendly and attentive. Very impressed.

We enjoyed the pizza, coffee and cakes, fun music, nice decor. For 5 stars could have a bigger selection of cakes.

Total rip off this place I’d just come up from London where I was paying £5 for mulled wine in a pub, then in Keswick at SO I was paying £5.90?! How can this be reasonable. Wine was even that good or very hot, not a fan of how it was served in a normal wine glass as it was hard to hold

What a superb find! Quirky and very French in it's design. Wonderful coffees and Teas and scrummy cake's Call in . I don't think you'll be disappointed.

We have eaten tapas in many places around Europe but the choice and quality at the Square Orange beats them all. Add to that the friendly and efficient service from Adam and his small but hard working team meant that we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Note that the place is smallish and you may have to wait for a table but it will be worth it. We can recommend the Chorizo, Baked Camembert, Figs, Patatas Bravas and the Christmas special, Pigs in Blankets, all beautifully prepared by Luke the Chef. Each dish came with lots of crusty bread to mop up the delicious sauces. All in all, an eggselent meal and we shall certainly return to the Square Orange.

Tapas were so tasty and nicely prepared. The chef was incredible, clearly talented and seemed so nice. The decor is my type. The waitress wasn't rude but not the service expected for the quality of the food. We definitely ordered too many heavy foods but that is most certainly our doing, couldn't help it but so worth it. No wonder people complain they can't get a table, if I return to Keswick I will remember to go here again.

We ended up in Keswick last Saturday night when we could not get to our accommodation in Windermere because of the snow! The square orange was amazing. We didn’t have to wait long for a table and the food was super delicious tasty. The staff were really good with our son too. What a great find in Keswick! We were lucky enough to find somewhere to stay too!

This is such a good place to visit for some tapas and a drink. The coffee is lovingly made. The place is very small and intimate and because people are quite close together it has a very friendly atmosphere. The service is very considerate. Food fabulous. Prawns were delicious. It took us 3 attempts to get in because it is so busy but it was well worth the wait.

Top place for pizza and a craft pint Vegan pizza options as well, spot on.

Small compacted restaurant, tapas and pizza, managed to get a table without queuing. Good choice of food and drinks with quick service. We sat by the door and within 5 mins of our food coming there was people standing next to our table queuing. Which was a little off putting. As I said food was great, but suggest go at quiet time or dont sit by the door.

Absolutely love The Square Orange, a must visit when in Keswick. From morning coffee through to the end of the day this is the place to eat and drink. The only reason I rate the atmosphere 3* is that we had a table right next to the toilet. Otherwise, it would be 5*. But we did not have reservations, so it was understandable. They gave us the first available table. The service was impeccable, everyone super nice and caring. The food was delicious. We went for vegan pizza and vegan tapas. Couldn't make a better choice, honesty. I would definitely come back once in surroundings.

Hands down the best place in Keswick for food. If there’s ever a wait. It’s worth it. Adam & Genna should be so proud of their business & staff. Absolutely faultless. Would eat here every day of the week if I could.

Our favourite place to eat when we are in Keswick. Brilliant choice of tapas and pizzas (we've yet to try the pizzas because the tapas are sooooo good!). Fantastic friendly and helpful staff and a lovely atmosphere make this a place to go back to again and again.

Great place in the evening for a drink

Used to be quite good but the quality has really gone down. Our pizza base was more like a flatbread the olives were tinned, and the garlic was cheap and pre minced. For the price it was very disappointing and below average. Some of the other tapas were nice and the service and atmosphere were great. Please don’t cut corners on a pizza when it’s that price!

We have been before so knew what to expect but its a great place to visit. So relaxing and a complete mix of different people. Staff all friendly and service is attentive. I honestly don't know how they get so much great food out of such a small space. Tapas and pizza, perfectly cooked. Simply delicious. Also if you cannot get in straight away (you cannot reserve tables) there is a little seating area in the back where you can just wait with a drink.

Outstanding Tapas and atmosphere. We decided to give this place a try last night. I’d only ever stopped in for a couple of beers in the past. We were greeted really well and offered a couple of table to choose from. Then we ordered 6 tapas dishes to share. It was all amazing. Really enjoyed the prawns, the mushrooms, the cheese in honey. But it was all fantastic. I probably wouldn’t order the pizzas in here though. They looked great but I’m not a fan of thin and crispy, that’s my personal preference though. We will definitely be back sometime as it was all so good. Great service as well and super reasonable pricing.

Lovely little restaurant that serves fantastic food with friendly service. The restaurant is quite small - it feels intimate and very comfortable. Service is very friendly and relaxed, still efficient though. The food is outstanding. Some amazing pizzas on offer and the tapas dishes are spectacular. Prawns are superb. Highly recommended

Still the best pizza you can get. Delightfully thin and crispy. Haven’t been since 2016/17 and assumed it would never be as good but the bases are incredible. Still same high quality. Tapas are high quality and tasty. Buzzy atmosphere / vibe. Only moan is didn’t like the fresh anchovies on the pizza. They don’t work for me at all. I’d rather have the tinned or jarred salty darker coloured ones in olive oil that I buy from Sainsbury or Waitrose: they work a treat on a pizza. The fresh ones are better with olives or on their own as a tapas. This is my favourite food in Keswick. Hopefully won’t leave it 6 years till I come back next time.

Now this place is amazing my new best place to go to food and service were second to none. Could not fault anything the food was plentiful and great taste great drinks and cheap to. They also have a vegan menu on the reverse of the menu. Hidden up a side street in keswick up from Greg's is the best place to eat in keswick 5☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ all the way

Ordered Meatballs, latte and tea last Friday afternoon as a tea stop before heading to Lake District. Meatballs was yummy and staff very welcoming, despite narrow tables and benches. Recommended when you visit Keswick.

I like this place, I like the food and atmosphere. It's a very popular place to eat. Because it's popular you may have to wait for a table. Myself I think it's good value for money.

My visit to The Square Orange Café in Kentish was an absolute treat! Super gutes Essen. Hier findet man mal was leckeres abseits von Burger oder Steak. Absolut empfehlenswert. Bin ich mal wieder in der Stadt, dann werde ich da wieder essen gehen.

I return here every single excuse I get, the food is incredible, I try and convince my family to come here every year on my birthday! Best menu items by far are the pulled pork nachos and the Chorizo tapas. I would rate the atmosphere 5 stars, as the venue is beautiful, but it can be very crowded (as it should be!) So take that into account if you're visiting! Additionally to my current knowledge they don't take bookings, however they are happy to allow you to wait outside with a drink until a table becomes available

Delicious tapas and lovely atmosphere

I love this place so much I've eaten here 4 days out of 6 whilst on holiday! Super friendly staff, delicious good and dog friendly. What more could you ask for!

Managed to get a table without having to wait, which was an extra bonus. Food was spot on as usual, staff cheerful and attentive without being over the top. After about 10 visits we finally tried the pizza. It was lovely, we should've tried them earlier. Don't know how they manage to knock out the quantity and quality of food from such a small cooking area.
