The Pocket Cafe Bar in Allerdale

FIrst ever pint of Lakes Brew Co IPA . First pint they had also served. If this Brewery doesn't become one of the biggest in the Lakes then something is wrong in the world. What a cracking pint ( along with Fell which they also serve) . Didn't eat but they do also serve pizza which also smelt and looked good. Try the Lakes Brew Co and Fell though . Two of lakelands best. Highly recommended. Revisited 2years later and somehow won the free Wednesday Night quiz with a bonus £25 to spend behind the bar or on food. Excellent friendly staff and cracking atmosphere. A small walk from the square but well worth it. A fave on any visit to Keswick.

Lovely space with great pizza and loads of live music, folk sessions and events going on.

Had drinks and Pizza. Regular pizza very good - plenty of topping and nice crispy base. Gluten free pizza - same price as regular- but very small - base ok and topping good. But very disappointed by its size for the price.

Ic and Flic looked up best pizza in Keswick and this cafe bar came up. I have been before a couple of years ago as they sell real ale. On this March Monday only two left of four after the weekend rush. A new brewery for me, Gan Yam from Kendal. A really delicious and refreshing 3.9% Pale Ale. Icarus went veggie and ordered a goats cheese, red onion, artichoke and rocket pizza for us to share. £14.95. A lovely thin base with crispy crust..as Flicarus likes it. Also really tastey.

Came in for pizzas and beer, on recommendation from another establishment. Was not disappointed!

Love this place. Great beer selection and the pizza is very good. Service is also excellent. I'd argue it's the best place to eat in Keswick.

This bar was the only one with entertainment on a Monday night and we went in not expecting too much. We ended up staying all night and the open mic night was fantastic with everyone being very good and a wide range of music. The pizzas are great but large and I would advise sharing. The white wine was great too but the flat cider was very strange.

Number 1 go to place, not just the lakes, but the UK. Pizza is by far the best I’ve ever had, beers are local and have a great selection, not expensive either. The team are really welcoming and very friendly. Atmosphere is always spot on. Looking forward to coming back already!

Went to the reggae night on Wednesday. What a vibe for such a small little local bar. We were visiting the area and had such a surprise when we stumbled upon this place. Great atmosphere spot on Pizza and wicked DJ.

We visited here after it being recommended by a local, our intentions where to have a drink and a pizza and move on. We arrived about seven o'clock and left around half eleven so as you can guess we rather liked the the place. The pizza's were amazing, a lovely thin crispy base with a range of toppings to choose from. The beers were very expensive , but many are imported strong beers so this was to be expected and didn't put us off sampling quite a few. We visited on a Monday evening which is open mic night and were thoroughly entertained by each and every act.

Amazing little bar with great choices of beverages. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. It's the type of place you could stay all night if you're lucky enough to grab an empty table. On the second visit of the trip, we ordered some of their amazing pizzas. Super thin and crispy with delicious tasty toppings. Not cheap but worth every penny. Highly recommended this Fab place.

This was a really nice pub/ restaurant that was open on boxing day when many others in Keswick were closed. It was warm and inviting, with a good selection of drinks and pizzas. The decor is unique and nice, the service was lovely with a smile. Pizzas were nicely cooked, thin and arrived hot from the oven. A good place to nip in and have a drink or a bite of pizza.

Great pizza and very lively atmosphere. It is very busy so it was just luck someone left just as we arrived. Mulled wine was very Christmassy. Pizzas were delicious. Crispy bases and good size. It's also a fascinatingly building.

We visited this great bar during our stay in Keswick. We only had drinks. There was live music, and the young gentleman playing his guitar was excellent. By the end of the evening, the place was rocking! Absolute brilliant! Can't wait to go again. A superb place to visit.

Heard a lot of good things about this place, ultimately wasn’t that impressed. There wasn’t much atmosphere, a lot of the menu wasn’t available, and my cider was flat. Food came and, and when I scanned the table I noticed nobody seemed impressed. Mine was burned as well. All in all, don’t think we’ll be coming back. Between the decor, the food, the atmosphere, and the drinks, I don’t think I’ll be keeping this one in the back pocket for later.

Best pizza in Keswick. Thinnest crispiest crust with delightful tasty toppings! Please tell me your secret. Beers are pretty good too especially the cans in the fridge. Very expensive beers though. I thought the square Orange did the best thin crispy pizzas but this place is marginally better. Blew me away. I had the goats cheese and caramelised onion one with artichokes.

Fab, quirky little bolt-hole that you simply MUST visit. Lovely welcoming staff (we had an 8yo and 4yo at 730pm at night looking for food) and got the last table. AMAZING pizzas, possibly the best I’ve ever tasted with such lovely unusual options to chose from. Drinks choice vast and a live singer topped the evening off perfectly. Although we aren’t local, we will be recommending it to our hirers who often visit Keswick.

After a long, wet day on Scafell Pike, we needed food! 😁 A 13 year old to an OAP in age range. It being a Sunday tea time, all bar bars seem closed, and then an oasis, Pocket. Straight in, warm, welcoming, busy. Staff busy and attentive. The choice and quality of beers great. Good warming, tasty food. Thank you.

Neat place to take a seat for mostly liquid refreshments in my case, they do cater for bodies with an appetite too 🤗..

Hands down our favourite bar in Keswick. They have a fantastic selection of beers. The pizzas are fantastic. Our children are more teenagers now but something I've noticed is that the Pocket Cafe Bar seems to be really popular with younger families in the early evening. Perhaps it's because the pizzas are so delicious. They have live music events through the week. Sadly, I'm a bit of a lightweight and rarely out late enough to indulge. We will certainly keep coming back here, definitely for the beer and pizza and hopefully to catch some live music too.

Excellent pizza with gluten free available. Dog friendly and great staff. Excellent range of drinks and prices are very reasonable especially for Keswick.

This was the worst cafe and the worst service I have ever experienced. Took my grandson for lunch- 30.08.23 ordered 1 vegan pizza and tried to order 2 soups of the day - it was 12.45 and there was no soup - good move on their part obviously they expected us to order something more expensive! No thank you we don't eat pizza so my husband and I just ordered 2 teas oh and a glass of tap water for our grandson. The bar tender had the audacity to ask if I wanted to tip!!! I told him no because they could not serve the food advertised The dishes on our table left from the previous patron were eventually moved but the mess on the table wasn't. Another couple had to move the dirty dishes from their table and 4 tables, one of which had been waiting longer than us waited and waited. Eventually one table was served - not the next in line as the barman told us the orders came out. Our teas Eventually arrived and after half an hour I told the barman if the pizza we'd ordered wasn't served in 5 minutes I wanted a refund. - it arrived! The glass of water didn't though and when I went to the bar to ask for it i was told he was busy.i did point out it had been ordered over 30 minutes earlier when I ordered the pizza - it was a glass of tap water how long does that take to pour and deliver. The table which had been served were then served a 2nd pizza while the couple who were waiting prior to us still hadn't been served. They were given a refund and some sort of pizza which I don't think was what they had ordered. The attitude was didn't give a d!@ what a way to run a business . I do not believe the rating shown for this place to be genuine or if they are they were not gained under the present staff. Oh and by the way the non existing soup of the day was still being advertised when we left.

What a wonderful find. Looked for somewhere gluten free worthy on trip advisor and this place didn’t come up but we walked past and I’m glad we popped in. There is gluten free drinks available and also gluten free food.

What a find!! This is the best place in Keswick for me. They served a real cider by Hogans and have a gluten free pizza base at no extra cost, as some other Keswick Italian restaurants apply!! The bar team were great. A chilled place to eat, rest and soak up some vibes. No chips but I appreciate that someone has to break with that instant bowl of gratification. The antipasti was good but still longed for chips!

The staff here should be very proud. The individuals were friendly and attentive. Our large order was handled with an excellent level of deftness and humility. The team made this visit a joy. The pizza itself was very well made, to the point where I forgot to take a photograph until after starting a slice. I requested an additional item, and this was accounted for. Additionally, the beer sold here included very local options, which were delicious and lovely to see. Dog friendly.

Visited the pocket cafe bar over the weekend and couldn't believe how filthy the place was, there were flies everywhere and you could smell the toilets from where we sat, once having used the toilets, I overheard a lady in the kitchens complaining about how plastic containers piled on top of each other with out of date meat in them were placed...this would have been overheard by everyone which put me off even contemplating to try any of the food after that. I ordered hot drinks and 3 out of the 4 drinks were okay. The coffee I ordered was thick like gravy and I've never had a black coffee where I couldn't see the bottom of it before, it was cloudy and bitter and the cappuccino was tastless and luke warm. I had to leave the coffee because of this. Completely ripped off for 4 coffees and won't be visiting again. The decor and atmosphere was drab and wasn't worth the money. There are far better cafes in Keswick than this one. The place needs a good deep clean tbh.

Great pizza! Spicy salami is just that, REALLY spicy. Enjoyed every bite in this casual, fun place.

We enjoyed three pizzas here, the food was nice but the menu is limited with no kids menu.. I would recommend for adults. The restaurant is quite basic but it’s all you need after a busy morning.

Best pizza I’ve honestly ever had. Beautiful thin, fresh base, great size and delicious toppings. 8 of us and 3 dogs stopped in on the off chance and had a great meal. Delicious, excellent value and great service. Looked after really well. Will be back. Highly recommended.

Ordered two bar drinks and a cup of tea. The glasses were filthy and had lipstick marks around the edge. The tea arrived in a pot with a cup and a small jug of milk, but there was no sugar, or spoon! Bad experience so won’t be returning!

We popped in for lunch, having walked past and smelt the food on a few trips past here to our B&B. It's a cool and funky venue. As someone with gf, it was easy to eat here and the pizza was delicious. My only slight thing is that they could add the size of pizza. Watching the other pizza's coming out of the kitchen - we assumed the gf would be a similar size and decided to share a pizza. Unfortunately the gf base is slightly smaller in size.

Visited a few times whilst in Keswick for drinks. Nice environment, we really enjoyed it here. We didn't eat here but the pizzas looked amazing that were being served around us.

Decent pizza and drink while a small 2 piece band played in the window. Happy low key relaxed vibe, worth going in for a pint or a glass of something one evening while you’re in the town.

Really friendly, helpful and quirky place. The staff just go out of their way to make sure you have a good experience. The pizzas are nice( and pizza isn't on my preferred list), the beer choice isn't that wide but there are some really good ales to pick from. They had live music the night i visited and the performetr (paul i think) had the place eating out of his hand and was brilliant. All in all a brilliant find. Thanks chaps!

First day on holiday, got a recommendation for this pub and it was definitely worth it. Great open mic night, nice personnel, good service, lovely chats with both personnel and guests. What could I possibly want more? PS: Why 4/5 for the superthin pizza? Well, you should never rest on your success, guys. 😉

After being let down by another local pizza establishment as a group of 22. The guys at Pocket cafe bar accommodated us with no prior notice. The staff were lovely and the pizza was out of this World! The atmosphere is chilled and laid back...

Arrived here when we could not get into our chosen eatery. Service was good with the guy pointing out the beer I had chosen was £9 a pint which I quickly decided I wouldn't like. We both had the chicken pizza but when it arrived it was difficult to find the chicken 😔 but tasted OK. Nice atmosphere but I feel the place prayed on us tourists a little too much.

Very unwelcoming - gruff welcome "you want something to eat" - my husband is deaf so didn't hear to which he replied 'its just a question" - my glass taken away quickly when empty - won't return - owner needs to address her bar workers...

The decent pizza, cool ambience and solid alcohol selection unfortunately don't justify a two-hour wait for food. Staff was aloof and then sassy when asked why it was taking so long. Sad to say I wouldn't go back.

This is a badly decorated bar with tired furniture and a bit on the scruffy side. Toilet adequate but doesn't feel clean. Not much choice on the menu unless you like pizza but was tasty and reasonably priced
