I visit blackwood weekly and The Square is the place I go for my lunch. Sandwiches are prepared as if they are a work of art, the staff are always smiling and happy and the service and quality of food is outstanding. Definitely a massive recommendation if you are in the area.

First visit in over 15 years, wasn't disappointed. Went for a coffee whilst my wife went shopping. Coffee was great, customer service was great. 3 members of staff I had interaction with were friendly, honest and gave good service. Very clean and tidy, tables cleaned after every customer! Highly recommended

Not a good meal cold even asking to reheat still came back Luke warm. To be fair they did knock money off bill I do think is overpriced staff great

Would recommend to any one very lovely staff polite and go out of their way to make sure you get everything you want and of any problems they will do everything to sort it straight away

What a start to the day . Delicious Toast and superb Coffee , welcoming staff , immaculate and orderly, definitely return for breakfast or lunch or snack.

We always eat here when shopping in Blackwood. Simple old school food such as cottage pie is available. I normally have a jacket potato and my mother likes a ham roll. Soya milk is available. Always busy here. Italian coffee is served here. The place is old fashioned looking but nothing wrong with that. The staff are always friendly and the service is quick. Food and drinks are well priced.

Nice food, good service and value for money, staff are on the ball. Plenty of room with loads of tables. I must say the toilet is dated and would benefit from restoration.

Normally have a lovely experience in this cafe, all the staff are always polite and friendly. However today there was a lady working there, older lady short blonde hair who was acting very strange the whole time. She kept watching all 4 of my family sat at the table the whole stay to see if we had finished our meals, she even brought the bill over before 2 of us had finished eating. I noticed she kept staring, coming back and taking plates and cups as soon as someone had finished, and waiting to see if we’d put the cash down to on the table to pay the bill. Then once we had paid she watched for a further few minutes until she decided to come to our table and say “right well thank you all” basically getting us to leave!! I was also trying to feed my baby at this point. I know it’s a busy saturday afternoon but I do not expect to be told to leave when I have just bought and finished my meal, I barely had time to finish my coffee. To say I was angry and shocked is an understatement! Can I just say that every other member of staff were lovely and I’ve never had any problems there. But I will not be visiting when this lady is there serving again.

While we were in the café decided to have a toasted tea cake and a coffee, the coffee was in a very small cup, not the usual mug, although the coffee was nice and the tea cake, the coffee was in a cup and not the mug, but the price was the same, The café is always a welcome stop for a warm drink. The coffee was really nice as was the toasted tea cake

Went to the Square cafe, had a small cooked breakfast. Everything was cooked perfectly. The service could not have been better, very helpful, checked if everything was ok. The cafe was very clean, there was no spills or dirty dishes on tables, as soon as a customer left, the girls cleared away.

Thank all the staff this morning for the kindness shown to a Mr Jenkins for his birthday today with a cake, presents and cards which was much appreciated. Thank you Beth for organising this he was overwhelmed

We went to the Square Café and again was not disappointed, two creamy coffees and toasted tea cakes with butter, Staff are very friendly and helpful and polite. The place is always clean and toilets not very far to walk. Always go there when shopping

Superb Spanish omelette with a difference and a lovely cuppa. Great service, food delicious and home made. Only issue I can find is that it takes cash payments only. Would definitely recommend and will be having lunch there again soon

This is a place or cafe you do not wish to miss, I go there with my husband once a week, our favourite is toasted tea cake and cup of coffee, I purchase tea cakes to take home with me, This cafe has been in business in Blackwood a very long time about 30 odd years, that must say something. The staff are very friendly and food is always hot, the prices are very good

Lovely friendly staff food was served beautiful non grease food 100% happy .would recommend a cost and coffee was lush

I have been going here for years. Started with my family as a child. Then I would go with my friends as a teenager. Then I started taking my family. Will continue to go here until the end of time. Best food in Blackwood

Rating is based on value. We had two lasagne and chips and two drinks for less than £15. Tasted great and that's what counts. Friendly place and very full at 11am. Would GP back if in the area as great value.

Regular morning visitor for coffee and toast. Have been frequenting this place many years and always enjoyed it- hence my return! Has undergone a refurbishment with new owners and still provide the ame professional service. Local delivery of bread, cakes and savouries daily available both in and to buy to takeaway. Always freshly prepared and piping hot breakfast & lunches. Toast I love. People might think its a pricey menu but you only have what you pay for. Only open shop hours though. Give it a try reviewers it fab, you wont be disappointed

Have been four times in the last year. If you order sausage and chips that's exactly what you get. No extras. Canteen food really. Served very hot and mostly very quickly. Efficient staff. OK price.

A delightful cafe that always delivers. The food is fresh and tasty. I can get very busy so shows how good it is.

Love it here. Really traditional. You can have a Bacon Bap for breakfast and eat in or take out. Good lunches, and afternoon tea with a toasted teacake. Loads of space. Efficient staff. Am told there is a new owner. Whoever they are they are doing a great job.

The square cafe is defiantly the best in the town centre . I have been there Loads of times being local to the area , even when I was a young child. It never disappoints you , food , drinks and staff are all 5* !!! Well done will be back again in the near future !!!!!

I always have breakfast here when visiting relatives. It is a great, well run place. My recent breakfast was the best yet.A couple of years ago, the bakery bit went through a period of selling coffee shop product like blueberry slices and the dreaded cup cakes but I am now delighted to see they have returned traditional welsh bakery products of iced slice, custard tarts etc.

Always a pleasant café experience, the place has established itself to be the Italian Café in Blackwood, though it seems to have changed hands a number of times over the years.Clean and tidy inside with a menu of typical café light bites and beverages.

I have been to this cafe a number of times. It is the best I have found in the local area. The staff are friendly, prices reasonable, Service is quick and the food is tasty. I give it 5 out of 5 because it is the best cafe of its type I have been to. If you want a fancy meal out this is probably not the place but if you are looking for a basic meal during the day I would highly recommend.

visited today under new owners a lot of the old staff are still there the food was good the staff were very nice and the service was fast.

Lunchtime snack with friends - nice sandwiches, toasties and teacakes.Good choice of drinks and the hot chocolate and milkshakes we ordered were lovely. Very quick, polite and attentive service - would visit again.Very reasonable price - around £18 for 4 x substantial lunch snacks and 4 x drinks

We had a nice lunch time snack and desserts in this friendly place.Together with friends we were surprised with this little "coffee shop" on the Main Street of Blackwood ( charming village in the South Wales Valleys ) So what to add? well food was great, service was excellent, staff were very kind, attentive and professional. They deserve a 5* and we recommend this establishment to everyone.Thanks guys and keep up the good work.

this place is a good café good food very clean. toilets immaculate the staff are fantastic all ways happy and pleasant I use this place when I am in blackwood would have no problem in saying this place is 5star.
