We got Ukrainian borscht and Ukrainian pancakes. It was incredibly tasty. I have no words to describe how delicious it was. If you are visiting Edinburgh I highly recommend to pop into to this restaurant. The stuff was so charming and friendly. I guarantee If you try this Cuisine once you'll become a regular customer.

Very nice institution. We have tasted the cuisine of The Square many times in Edinburgh with friends and family - the only place in Scotland with perfectly prepared Ukrainian cuisine. Borscht, Medovik, Napoleon - I recommend!

We visited this café as a family and thoroughly enjoyed the food and exceptionally delicious coffee. The children were delighted with the Children’s Latte with pink chocolate and marshmallows. The omelette was exceptionally tasty. The staff were extremely friendly. We will definitely return here next time.

Cool presentation of borscht and the taste is incredible, pancakes with chicken and cheese are nice as well. Also I can't imagine a week without coming and eating their Napoleon cake (sponsors of my extra kilos haha) but everything is delicious so I can't stop Also the staff is always very welcoming and friendly, it feels like you are visiting family, so I definitely recommend going here for very tasty food and Ukrainian hospitality ❤️

Can't believe how reasonable the prices here are, and the food is so good. Great mix of Scottish and Ukrainian dishes on the menu. Recommend the mushroom and cabbage Ukrainian pancakes. The breakfasts also look amazing and huuuge for the price so will be back to try those. Super stoked to have found this place. Nice chill, bright vibes inside and the staff are really friendly. They brought everything out really quickly too so ideal for the lunch break escape we all need every now and then.

Great restaurant. The borscht even had salo. Table water at the start without asking was genius. I will definitely be coming back again. I could tell the owner or chef who prepared the food took pride in their work.

Coffee was nice but the fruit scone was stale and tasted very strange, almost fishy. Not all items on the menu board were available. Had to repeat order multiple times and takeaway bag was still missing an item.

As I visited the Square, I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of the menu, here you can order dishes from both Scottish and Ukrainian cuisine. The dumplings we ordered are delicious! And the presentation of the Napoleon cake with ice cream was a pleasant surprise! The staff is friendly and polite! I recommend all visitors to Edinburgh to visit this cozy cafe

Nice little Ukrainian cafe not too far from the mile. Owner was very friendly and the place had good coffee and some options for a GF breakfast. It’s also worth noting the reasonable prices, which are hard to come across anywhere near the mile. It’s definitely worth stopping in if you want a decent breakfast to start the day without breaking the bank.

A cafe with some real ukrainian food . As a ukrainian it’s a bless to have a cafe like this so far from home . They serve delicious food as borsch , crepes , roast potato, english breakfast, belgium waffles . Very delicious. Love it! Staff knows ukrainian language as well. Food is not expensive .

Really nice place and they serve breakfast all day!

Visited on a Monday morning and it was busy but luckily someone was leaving so seated quickly. Very friendly and helpful staff. Food was okay but the beans were cold (as if straight out of the can). This was dealt with quickly. The eggs were very salty with little salt rocks all over the plate and the table wasn't wiped down from the previous customer. It wasn't the best for me but the effort was there and generally so was the service and it's worth a try.

Borsch is amazing. Benedict eggs with salmon are just great. Cottage cheese pankakes are also highly recommended! Great respect for the Ukrainians who run this business and work here.

Nice coffee and no additional charge for non dairy milks which was great. No customer toilets (which is illegal for this premises) and no wheelchair access

Is was really nice place for our breakfast. We were in Edinburgh just for one weekend and we are happy that we found this place. Very good service and nice food. We tasted full scotich breakfast and mini. Recommend you to go there and try.

Cheapest breakfast, absolute amazing food, owner super friendly, really happy and cheerful, and made us feel very welcomed, like we were old friends. The food was fresh, massive portion and cheaper compared to everywhere else. Only downside was the music was a tiny bit too loud. Couldn't really have a conversation without talking a bit louder.

After dismal treatment and shocking prices at a place on Princes St (we left without ordering), we walked for 2 minutes and came across this gem of a place. Cosy atmosphere, food as fresh as anything, homely portions, and friendly, gracious service from the lovely Ukrainian couple running it. Perfect for a snack, lunch or coffee. Many thanks!

Top cafe experience. Excellent food and service. In any city there is a gluten of starbucks, costa coffee and cafe nero chains. Finding a good non chain cafe is great. It’s close to the Portrait Gallery, Bus Station and St. James Shopping Centre. Good selection and variety of food. Well worth a visit.

Lovely people from Ukraine. The only place in Edinburgh that I visited that had ice tea. Excellent tuna melt & ham & cheese melt. Friendly and prompt service. Would visit again but sadly this was our last night in the city.

I haven't eaten borshch for 3 years or so. Today I accidentally discovered a place where Ukranian staff serve a proper Ukrainian borshch in the middle of Edinburgh for a very decent price. You just made my day.

The only place in Edinburgh where you can taste authentic Ukrainian food. And it's so delicious, definitely worth a visit

Fabulous little spot - had breakfast which was delicious and the service very friendly.

Food lasted like an hour and a half, the orders we're wrong and when we asked were our food was an hour after they been arrogant and they were joking about it. We had to pay more than we had ordered because they added extras to our food that which we havent asked for.

I ordered some Belgian Waffels with some whipped cream. I waited like 20 minutes or something till they arrived. They even forgot the cream. But it tasted good.

Brilliant little breakfast and lunch place. Great food, friendly staff and a great and varied selection on the menu. Have returned here several years in a row on trips to Edinburgh, and fits the bill every time. Small eating area, so be early for breakfast or be prepared to wait a little while to be seated (totally worth it). Recommended!

Very cute cafe, close to the Edinburgh train station (Waverley)! They had a wide choice in their daily menu as well as specials. Very happy that additional requests for children menu were accepted. We have ordered salmon avocado toast, burger (they had Angus beef in them), steak chops with baked potatoes and mushroom sauce, and brownie for dessert! Would definitely recommend.

Service was great, friendly staff. However...I watched the young girl making my son's breakfast through the glass case and watched her slice stawberrys without doning gloves. She cuts up the strawberries then proceeds to stop. She then picks up her cell phone and begins texting. When finished she resumes cutting the strawberries (without any hand washing) and brings our breakfast to us. I was appalled! My son doesn't like confrontations so I bit my tongue did not mention it while there. In US that wouldn't fly and is considered completely unsanitary! Sweet girl needs some direction on food preparation/sanitation guidelines. In US hand washing is a MUST and NO texting while preparing food!

I had a tasty burger. Service was a little slow, but these guys are trying their best. Very sweet and polite staff, whom I believe are mostly Ukrainian. So it's also nice to support this small Cafe.

Burgers & Borsch😍 Popped in to the Square on our way to the whiskey tasting experience. We were pleasantly surprised with a cozy interior, but the star of the show was definitely the burgers & borsch combo! We ordered angus beef burgers and freshly cooked borsch (which is based on Ukrainian family recipe). The presentation and taste made it fully worth the money, and made exploring Edi even more enjoyable. Highly recommend😎👍🏼

Food was good, staff was attentive but we had to wait an extremely long time to get our food (part of which had to be sent back because it didn’t come out as requested). The issue you have is that you don’t have enough people in the kitchen if all your tables become full. One of the persons at the bar need to be able to shift to kitchen when the restaurant is at full capacity otherwise you get a mess at the kitchen with orders going to wrong tables etc. For anybody thinking of eating here - if empty go in because food is good - if more than 1 table is occupied don’t because not enough capacity.

It's very nice place to accomudation.. they have given tea/coffee compliment in room. it's bit costlier bcoz of weekend, around 185 pounds though online booking.. but, while reach directly price might be bit less. good fecilieties, with nice bath room,bed and room heater.. it's located in richmond street. reception peoples are very nice to guide.. breakfast is avaiable if a bit less price due to staying there.
