Un lugar pequeño, nada especial. El servicio era bastante lento, pero no teníamos prisa, así que estaba bien para nosotros. Mi compañero eligió el desayuno completo que disfrutó. Café sin inodoro es un poco extraño, habría sido bueno saber antes de decidirse a comer allí.

It's a small café on St. Andrew's Square. I loved the food, a lot of authentic Ukrainian dishes. The staff is extremely polite and helpful. I will quite sure visit this place again :-D

It was such a cool thing to find a Ukrainian restaurant in Edinburgh! I felt like home. The syrniki and crepes were amazing. It was also great to see the combination of Ukrainian food with the Scottish one. The staff was super friendly and nice. Thank you!

I had a really delicious breakfast here - Ukrainian pancakes with apple & cinnamon. They let me substitute sour cream for fresh cream. Coffee was also good, and prices are good value for Edinburgh. I plan to come back.

I just spent £14 on 2 morning rolls. For that price I’d expect something special but it’s not. I can get the same if not better round the corner for literally half the price. Avoid this place!

1st time there, friendly staff and nice surroundings

Vino a tomar un café y un rollo de desayuno. Buen servicio y tanto el café y el rollo eran buenos. Eché un vistazo a su menú y se ve interesante. Un montón de opciones y algunos deliciosos platos ucranianos que suenan, junto con otras opciones para el desayuno, el almuerzo y solo un café rápido y pastel. Sin duda volvería a visitar para una experiencia sentada. Personal encantador.

Mi esposa y yo entramos a desayunar en este café esta mañana y nos sentamos. Había 4 / 5 otros clientes en ese momento. Un par de minutos después de entrar otra pareja entró en el café. 2 / 3 minutos después se les preguntó lo que querían. Necesitaban otros minutos antes de estar listos. Durante este tiempo todavía no habíamos recibido un reconocimiento de que estábamos en el café. Después de otros 5 minutos más o menos la otra pareja hizo su pedido. Habíamos estado en 10 - 15 minutos y había sido totalmente ignorado. Nos levantamos y nos fuimos sin señales de que los 2 empleados sabían que habíamos entrado en la cafetería. Somos asiduos a salir a desayunar y nunca iría cerca de la Plaza. Un servicio horrible.

Great little cafe with delicious Ukrainian food.

I tried Napoleon cake – it was absolutely divine! Incredibly delicate, with the perfect balance of creamy layers and flaky pastry. You can tell it’s made with love and great attention to detail. The atmosphere in the café is lovely, and the service was excellent. I highly recommend this cake to anyone with a sweet tooth – you won’t be disappointed!

My husband and I stopped in for coffee and cake yesterday,thought it was a bit expensive but when the lemon cake arrived it was served with the most delicious ice cream with a crunchy topping and fresh raspberries. It was lovely. Also my husband couldn’t find his iPad and he went back to see if he had left it there the staff had kept it safe for him. Huge thanks to them.

Nipped in for a takeaway coffee, it was slightly busy but there was three people behind the counter. Waited 5 mins, was not even acknowledged or even just advised to wait etc . So just left. Appreciate places can be busy, and have no issue with waiting,but least extend the courtesy of an acknowledgement. I get the impression the owners just think they can treat folk like this cause it will always be busy due to location. Edit- response from owner implies i was asked to wait. I wasn't. I wasn't even acknowledged. Clearly not reading the reviews correctly and missing the point

Leuk tentje om even een kleinigheidje te eten. Veel keus in broodjes, warme gerechtjes, yoghurt, en nog veel meer. Wordt gerund door Oekraïense mensen. Aardige bediening en net al te duur. Een lekker ciabatta met tonijn, ruim belegd voor 6,5 pond. Ik zou hier nog wel eens heen gaan.

Nice place to have a little something to eat. Lots of choice in sandwiches, hot dishes, yogurt, and much more. Run by Ukrainian people. Nice service and just too expensive. A delicious ciabatta with tuna, generously topped for £6.5. I would go here again.

Very cordial and friendly service, cozy atmosphere with the option of indoor or outdoor tables. We ate 2 burgers with juice, freshly prepared and very tasty. Only the fries were still a little raw.

Food was super fresh and delicious like in a Michelin restaurant, Napoleon was fluffy and tender, without a lot of sugar, borscht was tasty too, dumplings with potatoes was especially good, usually i prefer dumplings with meat, bit with potatoes was a surprisingly so tasty. all food was very fresh, like it was cooked especially for you. great place! bringing food so beautiful, look at the Napoleon cake on the photo. we feel like the important person.

Great coffee, great food and super attentive and friendly staff. The little touches are nice. Holding the door as I had my hands full, hand sanitiser on every table, really helpful staff, offered water while waiting. Great find!

Ukrainian cuisine in the center of Edinburgh. Delicious, huge portions and most importantly - Ukrainians are around. It was as if she had visited home. I recommend and will definitely visit with children! I wish you happy visitors.

I'm so happy that we accidentally popped into The Square! It's not a big café, but the food is amazing and the view is beautiful! Everything is fresh and tasty—both Scottish and Ukrainian. My children only wanted to have breakfast here, not somewhere else. The cakes are absolutely amazing, and the pancakes with apples are so delicious that we ordered them every day! Prices are not big. Recommend to everybody!

Finally visited this institution! We are delighted, the cheesecakes are delicious, the coffee is fragrant ☺️ I will definitely recommend it to my friends, both Ukrainian and Scottish 😉

Finally managed to visit The Square. Very nice food, I enjoyed everything and hope to visit soon again. However, it's quite small so if you want to enjoy your meal on time, it's probably better to book a table

If you want to try borscht with a shot of vodka, you won’t be able to, because... there is no alcohol here. The dumplings with meat are very dry, even sour cream couldn’t save them... The pancakes with cheese are delicious

I’ve been to The Square more than once, I was left with a very good impression and aftertaste of this establishment) Insanely delicious Ukrainian cuisine, with a fairly wide range of dishes, all dishes, without exception of the highest level, are varied. Helpful and friendly staff who will give you the comfort of home when the whole family is gathered at the table, will listen with pleasure to the wishes of clients, are courteous to clients who are vegetarians, and will definitely find out if you are allergic to certain components of the dishes. Visited The Square for the first time, and unfortunately, it was disappointing. We ordered two different pancakes—one with chicken and another with cabbage and mushrooms—but the waiter got the order wrong, and I ended up with a portion of dumplings instead. Since we had already waited too long and were in a rush, I didn’t ask for it to be changed. To make matters worse, the dishes were served at different times, so my friend had to wait for his food while I was already eating. The food itself was average, and we had higher expectations. Overall, not the experience we were hoping for.

Haven’t been here for a while but stopped for a take away lunch today , big mistake , the lentil and bacon soup was like dish water , totally tasteless and at £5.95 a complete rip off , my sister got a ham salad roll £6.50 !!!! Won’t be back and no wonder the place was empty at these prices

This is not the first time we visit the cafe "The Square". Today we ordered a Caesar salad, which was extremely tasty, and the portion is also quite large and generous. Napoleon was chosen for dessert, which had a very delicate taste. I would like to single out Yulia and Volodya, who were very polite and professional. The only request to the institution's management is to return the signature "Kyiv cake" to the menu. This is one of the tastiest and best desserts on the menu of this restaurant. And it is for this dessert that we are ready to return again and again. Thank you! We will definitely visit a huge number of times!😌☺️

Lentil and bacon soup was like water, utterly tasteless and luke warm - cappuccinos not much better - wanted a Twix - 75p was on the packet but they were charging £2!! first and last time at this place ☹️

A sweet Ukrainian run cafe with ace views on the brick row houses and a nice array of breakfast, brunch, lunch a la carte options, including yummy homemade pastry options. The lentil soup was savory and warm on one of Edinburgh's many miserably moist days, the cappuccino and latte were serviceably good--perhaps the coffee itself was less descript because of that particular roast, but we would've loved to try out the other cultural options we saw on the chalkboard menu. It's in a posh area near St Andrew's Square where the tram turns the corner from York. Recommend!

Lovely little cafe, convenient location. Loved our "sirniki", the call them "Cottage Heese Pankakes" here (4pcs £10). Dog friendly. Tea pots could have been a bit more than 250mg , at least for 2 cups... Nice place for breakfast or an early lunch. We will be back.

Great variety of food: starting with breakfasts and sandwiches to great Ukrainian food. I never imagined I could enjoy borshch and deruny in Dublin so much. Definitely must visit!

Small cafe with a wide selection. Avocado toast is very tasty, the salad mentioned on the menu was made of field lettuce that was thrown over the hot toast and therefore immediately looked limp. They also have sandwiches. But nobody understands why a sandwich with chicken sauce is pressed flat on a grill so that it becomes burnt and flat and hard like a roof tile. Is that Ukrainian style or is it an attempt to cover up any problems with the freshness - who knows?? In any case, it would be good if the customer was asked beforehand whether they would like a grill-pressed, black-toasted roll. It was put in front of me without me asking. It was inedible, hard, the topping was almost gone - 6.50 for a roof tile.

Nice breakfast spot in Edinburgh. Ordered the full Scottish breakfast, sausages were nice and tasty bacon. Enjoyed trying the Scottish tattie scone. Fresh Orange juice was nice, but a larger glass would be appreciated for £5. Worth a visit 🍳

This little spot in town serves Ukrainian food and local favorites with a twist. The place has only a few tables, and the service wasn’t the fastest, but the food was well worth the wait and reasonably priced. Signature Borscht - mildly sweet from the beetroot yet savory with beef broth and packed with vegetables. It’s served with garlic-infused bread, slices of salo (salt-cured pork fat), sour cream and sweet red onion. Delicious. Deruny - potato-based pancakes were simple and pleasant, but slightly bland for my taste. The standout reason to come back is their Napoleon cake—absolutely amazing. It melts at the first bite with a soft texture and a custard-like filling that isn’t overly sweet. It’s drizzled with sweet sticky sauce and served with berries and ice cream, perfectly balanced sweetness. Being familiar with the authentic flavors of this part of the world, I didn’t expect things to taste just as they should or creatively better (Napoleon 💛) here in Edinburgh, but what a positive surprise.

We didn’t have a meal this time but we had lovely coffee and a delicious piece of cake each,,the service was superb and we had a long lovely chat with the owner ,the rest of the menu looked superb,we will definitely be back for a meal and we would highly recommend the Square to others.

Good food, original recipes, reasonable price, and nice staff. I visit regularly and have now tested most of the menu. I have never been disappointed. My favourite Ukrainian dishes are their borscht and their apple and cinnamon pancakes. Oh and their coffee is good!

Fantastic place to have breakfast before starting the day. The service is excellent and always with a smile. We tried the avocado toast with salmon, scrambled eggs and the eggs benedict. Totally recommended!
