Located right in the heart of the vibrant and buzzy Stokes Croft strip, this is, as it’s name suggests, a pasta restaurant, although with pizza options as well if that’s not your thing. It’s got a nice, rustic interior, and staff seemed friendly and helpful. We were brought a bottle of water unprompted whilst we perused the menu. I had a fair idea of what I wanted having looked online, although there were quite a few differences on the one we were presented with. That’s fair enough, the online ones are often a sample (not that it said that in this case) so I understand that what I had chosen might not be available. I would though expect the prices to be accurate. The arancini for example are priced at 2 for £7 or 4 for £12 online, whereas when we got there we found it was 2 for £8.50 (or £9.35 by the time the service charge has been added on, which is also not mentioned on the online menu), with no discount for 4. We started off with the aforementioned arancini, and between us had the Roman Style with ragu and a heart of mozzarella; Nduja with onion; Prosciutto & Mozzarella and a Leek and Gorgonzola. We had these with a spicy tomato and an aioli dip. Overall, they were all pretty good. A couple seemed a little bland perhaps and really needed the dips to help them along, but they were a good start to the meal. Next up I went for the Spaghetti Carbonara with a rich egg yolk sauce, guanciale and pecorino cheese. Service seemed to drop off a bit at this point, we had been there over an hour before the main courses turned up which seems a long time for this type of food. Perhaps we booked too early, we were in for 5:30, but it seems as though many of the kitchen staff didn’t start until 6:00. I’m glad we didn’t book for 5:00. When it did turn up though, it was again pretty good if nothing spectacular. It could have definitely done with a little more seasoning, but there was none on the table, and although the waiter who delivered it did ask if we wanted anything else, I hadn’t had the chance to taste it at that point. Overall though, a decent enough dish. Across the table, the Porchetta Tortellini served with mushroom sauce, fried sage and chilli flakes from the specials board was a little on the small side we thought with only about half a dozen of the tortellini and for over £20 (including the service charge) it seemed very expensive. I had heard that they were renowned for offering five different tiramisu’s, and sure enough the online menu listed strawberry, pistachio, amaretto and cherry in addition to the classic. I do love a good tiramisu so this was one of the reasons for visiting, albeit with some trepidation – should you mess with a classic? The restaurant menu again differed from the online version in that there were only three available, so I went for the Cherry & Amaretto, which actually worked very well as they were the two that were on my shortlist to try. Like the rest of the food, it was pretty good, if nothing spectacular. I was surprised to get it served in a Kilner jar, that rather smacks of something that’s been made far in advance. It was an interesting twist, but I’ve had better classic versions. Overall, not at all bad, but they’re not going to be troubling the likes of Pasta Ripiena or Little Hollows any time soon.

A very cute unassuming restaurant in Stokes Croft, serving freshly cooked Italian food. Stand out was the tiramisu. It was very quiet when we visited but the service was very warm and friendly. Great family-friendly vibe

Lovely pasta options but honestly some of the worst service I’ve ever received at a restaurant in Bristol. Not even offered desserts, got both starter and main course orders incorrect then have a set service charge on the bill. Chef is producing good food but not worth visiting until front of house has a real shake up.

Excellent food and great service, the only issue is the table legs were too narrow to bring the chairs any closer to the table.

An absolute gem - the food and service were fantastic. We had arancini, followed by the pasta specials, and I had the pistachio souffle to finish off. All were wonderful and Sam, our server, was incredibly polite and friendly. Will definitely go again.

I have spent Valentine’s Day dinner here with my boyfriend and we really regretted it.. It was freezing cold in the whole restaurant, we first thought that it was because we were sat next to the entrance but no, same temperature everywhere. We had to eat with our jackets on and were very uncomfortable. The worst thing for us is that the food was not that great, and the tiramisu we had as a dessert was just a viscous soup of cream with only one small biscuit inside! I was quite shocked. We had stomachache since. I don’t recommend at all. The staff is nice but that’s it..

I have just had a very cold valentine's dinner ending in a stomach ache... The staff were nice and the main was quite creative. However a warm comfortable environment is the bare minimum you expect at the restaurant especially when spending over £100. While sat in my puffer jacket, I was served the worst tiramisu I have ever seen. It was liquid and not set at all. Now sat in bed I certainly regret this arctic tiramisu incident.

Really tasty food! All the food was delicious, especially tasty pasta, focaccia and arancini. Lovely and friendly staff!

The food here is sooo good, feels authentic and lovely interiors. Our Waiter was lovely and gave his recommendation for dessert which we loved. Support these excellent lads!

Came here for my birthday yesterday with my friend. Second time I’ve been. This place is always recommended to me by Italian friends. Absolutely LOVED our carbonaras and the wine by the glass selection. Very affordable for a really nice meal. Service was prompt and friendly. Campari spritz was perfectly proportioned. Most notably, the desserts were INCREDIBLE! Best tiramisu we’ve ever had. And the pistachio cannolo was 11/10. Only recommendations: warming the bowls before serving the pasta in them and turning the bright lightening down a bit once it’s dark!

El interior / exterior se presenta más como una cantina que, tal vez no atraiga a aquellos que quieren cenar en un entorno más elegante . . pero le insto a ignorar esto y pasar a disfrutar de su excepcional auténtica comida italiana. La buena comida italiana se basa en la sencillez y la calidad de los ingredientes; un compromiso que sin duda abraza este pequeño restaurante. La barbara (por el vidrio) es excelente, la pasta está claramente recién hecha y la pizza y la ensalada cohete que comí estaban simplemente deliciosos. . . Have you ever been to a restaurant, and before you’ve even left you’re planning your return? This is one of those for me ❤️ Why? First up, the people. I’m a big believer in ‘gut feelings’ and Ilaria & Stefano gave me the good kind. The couple, who double up as owners, with Ilaria on front of house and Stefano in the kitchen (making fresh pasta, daily, amongst other things), gave us the most incredibly warm and genuine welcome to their little business. They gave great recommendations and answered all of our (sometimes random) questions, and it took me back to the experiences we had in trattorias on honeymoon roadtripping in Tuscany 🇮🇹 Secondly, (more importantly for some) the food. If you’ve followed me for a while, you know I have a (bordering on irrational) obsession with arancini 🤤 There are SIX flavours on the menu, we went for the Roman style (ragù w/ mozzarella) and the leek & Gorgonzola… both blooming delicious!! The fact they’re 2 for £7 or 4 for £12.50 pleases my inner bargain hunter too 👏🏻 They were some of the best I’d ever had and we had them with a tagliere and focaccia (heavenly). It was at this point I was already saying to Mr E.E when can we come back 😅 For mains we shared a pizza (the ‘Prosciutto and Parmesan’, delicious, even though I’d missed on the menu it didn’t have a tomato base 😆) and the highly recommended ‘Gnudi’ (aka naked ravioli), which are made with ricotta, spinach, and Parmesan. A gorgeous combination and we still had room for pudding (winning 🙌🏻)! I wasn’t sure we’d be able to finish desserts but my chocolate soufflé and Mr E.E’s pistachio tiramisu were so good, we couldn’t bear to waste a mouthful ❤️ Then we went a bit rogue and finished with a limoncello! Which felt a bit naughty but also rather wonderful, and again took me back to holiday memories… They have lunch deals (you know I love an offer) so am planning a sneaky trip in the New Year for that, and I’ve also promised my Sardinian sister that we’ll go and tick off the rest of the arancini flavours one evening (plus anything else we can stuff down). So in summary, yes, I’m a fan 😋

Very delicious food. Tried the mushroom arancini, cacio&pepe pasta with pistachio, and tiramisu. All very tasty but I was more impressed by the pasta! Service was great. Atmosphere was simple but good. Would highly recommend this place!

Food was good, pizzas had a nice crispiness to them and the rosemary/potato/sausage was delicious. Arancini were small but tasty. Service was somewhat poor though, even on a quiet night. Food took quite a while to come out, the server forgot to bring our drinks and even getting our order taken and paying required flagging someone down. Feels like the automatically included service charge was unwarranted, and I don't think we'd be back. Couple of tasty local beers on tap though.

Try the dirty Alfredo! The most delicious pasta I’ve ever had!

Not worth the hype, home made pasta its self was okay but the sauces were so bland and basic and all the food was SO cold. The desert was the only saving grace! Classics tiramisu was lovely but the cherry one was pretty average, wouldn’t return

A place with superlative cuisine. From pasta to aperitifs, from starters to desserts. An unforgettable, perfect carbonara. On Saturdays there are a few people but the wait is worth it. Excellent wine cellar, let us advise you.

I recently dined at The Spaghetti Incident with my family, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. We started with arancini roman style and scampi, which was a delicious choice. For our main course we opted for pizza, I ordered an italian sausages pizza while my wife ordered a margherita pizza, each one was absolutely delicious, with an excellent quality to price ratio. We ended our meal with a dessert of cannoli. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and the service was outstanding. Highly recommended for anyone looking for authentic flavours and a friendly ambience.

Eaten here before and really enjoyed it so booked to take a friend who was staying from out of town. Turned up a little bit early and was told to come back as they were t quite ready yet, fair enough! Came back at our booking time and was told they weren’t ready and to come back 30 mins later!!! Came back and still didn’t have our table and said they were trying the rush other customers… surely not a great dining experience for the other diners. Told them to forget it and cancel our booking! Clearly gave away our booked table to a walk-in.. no apology, discount or offer to reschedule our booking for a different date. Very poor customer service. Shame because it’s really good food.

My first visit and it exceeded my expectations, everything was very good, I was just a little disappointed with the pizza since the sausage was cold. The spaghetti was excellent as were the starters. Ohh the salad was crispy and fresh "I loved it" The tiramisu was very good. A very well selected pink wine. I hope to return soon. Thank you!!!

Nice atmosphere inside, lovely staff but food way overpriced for what you actually get. The pasta I ordered was bland, my partner's portion of naked ravioli was tiny and my friend's ravioli was probably the best meal but still too expensive for what it actually was. £15-£16 for a small not great pasta dish is way too much...

Changed my review after visiting today. Whilst busy service was on the slow side and food delivery was very slow The arancini were still good but all four pasta mains were disappointing, lacking flavour in the sauces and overcooked pasta. I still like this place and will return to see if it improves

Estábamos esperando grandes cosas, pero estábamos decepcionados - la comida estaba bien, pero nada especial (y en consecuencia era sobreprecio) y el servicio era dolorosamente lento.

Ok they were having staffing issues but they could have told us sooner. Not even a drink arrived after 40 minutes. 2 of us ordered pizzas but were told they couldn’t do pizzas although clearly there were pizzas being prepared in the kitchen. We changed our order but still nothing arrived. We had ordered starters. We asked about progress on the food and drink front, there was clearly much confusion, and whilst we understand that they were having problems, a bit of communication would have helped. Sorry

A lovely experience at the Spaghetti Incident last Saturday. Went for lunch and found the pasta to be delicious and the soufflé to be amazing. Would go again!

Pre booked , but arrived early. Happy to accommodate. Good service , food was freshly made . Tasted very nice full of flavour. I had a pizza with mozzarella and aubergine slices on it .I will be backbto sample the pasta .

We had lunch on Saturday. It was early, so still not so busy at that point. The welcome was friendly and the food was very good indeed. We each had a pasta dish and everyone enjoyed their meal. The arancini are really tasty too.

I had high hopes for my visit to The Spaghetti Incident, especially since we had made a reservation in advance. However, upon arrival, it was clear they were not prepared for our booking, which was rather disappointing. I waited an unreasonably long time for the pizza Parmigiana that I ordered, and when it finally arrived, half of it was burnt. The moment I bit into the first slice, all I could taste was the charred crust – none of the toppings came through, just an overwhelming burnt flavour. To their credit, I wasn't charged for the pizza in the end, but the overall experience was quite underwhelming. I had expected much better.

Pasta and pizza are their best dishes! They make the pasta, so it’s always fresh and different! Taste is delicious, especially with the ragù! Few options of pizza as well, the dough is soft and crunchy at the same time. The unusual combination of pizza toppings made the different options more appealing and also delicious! Tiramisu tasted like a proper one! Well done guys!

Fresh food and great service 100% recommended!!

I visited with two friends for dinner and we had a delicious Italian meal that was reasonably priced and good quality. I would say that the service was the only downside, I found the staff a little rude/cold but hopefully we just caught them on an off day.

My first visit to the place. At first I felt a bit weird about the service, the staff seemed a bit lacking good customer service, but it improved as the dinner went on. We had some starters - calamari and arancini both of which were delicious. I had a pizza for main, and it wasn't the best pizza I've tasted. The pizza dough lacked something to make it better.the parmesan and truffle fries were very nice as well. And to finish it off - we had tiramisu, which was amazing. And the red wine was very good as well. I'll definitely come back again and try a pasta dish, and have some more of the starters and tiramisu for sure!

A fantastic meal out with friends. Arancini and calamari to start which was very good. 3 of us had handmade ravioli pasta with mortadella and ricotta cheese which was fantastic and one had a Dirty Alfredo: Tagliatelle with butter, parmesan, truffle oil, fried onion and balsamic glaze. The pasta was excellent and the tiramisu to finish was great. Wheelchair access was a bit difficult due to a small step on the street and then another step about a metre afterwards. However, between my ramp and the restaurant's own I made it inside. Cozy inside but good space between tables, didn't need to use the bathroom so can't comment on accessibility there. Definitely still 5 stars though as food was great and the waiter was very good.

Very authentic, with some infusions of all regions of Italy in one dish

I did not want to go to an Italian restaurant. Italian restaurants in the UK are often a bit naff and provide a poor imitation of the wonderful food and culinary expertise of the Italians. But we ended up in this Italian restaurant. I entered, prepared to be (once again) exasperated and left.... enchanted. No, The Spaghetti Incident is not cheap. But it was a delight. Everything from the waiter bringing me a little white wine to try (following my request for a "glass of the least" here I pull a face as though I am sucking on a sour lemon "white wine") to the laidback rap and hip hop playing on the stereo to the open kitchen featuring an Italian chef cooking very UNDISAPPOINTING Italian food was... well, a delightful surprise! Check it out.

Had an amazing meal here! The little arancini as a starter were original and tastefull. The pasta’s the best I had in years. We had one with a pistachio sauce and a dirty Alfredo. Both delicious. We also had the tortellini with a delightful filling. The chef chose a very nice red wine to accompany the food. Would come every week if I lived near. Very cheap for very high quality.

Highly recommend this beautifully authentic Italian restaurant for anyone who is visiting Bristol! We had lunch here on a Saturday afternoon and it was absolutely delightful. Lovely family run business, homely atmosphere from the friendly staff to the cool music, enjoyed every minute! Best part - TIRAMISU 😍🙏 they have 5 flavours of homemade tiramisu and we had pistachio - absolutely to DIE FOR!!!! We will be back again to try the rest :))) Thank you to the owners for making us feel so welcome and for great conversation, we even got recommended their friend’s restaurant in London which we are so keen to visit! Once again, thank you for the great meal! P.S. the cocktails are delicious too!!

I'm disappointed :( My pasta was cold when it arrived and tasted doughy. My partner's meal tasted like canteen food. I told the waiter we were disappointed and gave the honest feedback detailed here.

I do hate to knock a small business but this place has a lot to improve. Waiter was friendly and the drinks were good. Unfortunately the food was not to the same standard - Garlic bread was too salty, my Ragu tasted like a cheap work canteen meal and my partners pasta was cold and doughy. If they improved their food they've got a good location and great staff and as such could be a fantastic restaurant

We were staying in Bristol for a few days, and wanted to find a restaurant away from the central area. We found this gem in Stokes Croft. The area has improved a lot over the years and is quite edgy, with several different cuisines available. The pizza, salad and home made ravioli were exceptional and tasty. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The music and customers made it a joyous place to have a meal. Good Price. We were about 3 times older than the other customers, but no one cared. Thanks

We had calamari which was fresh and delicately fried in a light batter, the Mortadella ravioli was delicious as was the Gorgonzola gnocchi… The food was amazing and the service was excellent… the waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and went through most of it with lots of detail and entheuasium and made the best cocktails! It’s more of an informal bistro but has the food of an expensive restaurant. We bought both of our pups which were made very welcome.

Ate here for the first time today, will not be the last time! It was my adult son's birthday and he wanted an Italian meal. The food was gorgeous, the service was fab and the atmosphere was relaxed. 100% recommend

Poor food, I went here with my girlfriend, she's been here twice before and loved it but this time wasn't so great. Our wine came after all of our food arrived and the portion of calamari was tiny considering we paid £8. My girlfriend said she enjoyed her pasta a lot however I couldn't finish mine, it was very bland. I'm guessing we caught it on a bad day but we paid a lot and were very disappointed.

Such a delightful find! This spaghetti place offers an array of choices, each with its own distinctive style and balanced flavors. Happy to have stumbled upon it, and will to return for their pizzas! The only downside was the Arancini, which was a bit bland and lacked crispiness on the outside. Hoping for improvement next time!

Delicious food! We had 4 different arancini's between us and 2 pasta dishes and they were all really good. The service was very good too. It was quite chilly in there (especially in the bathroom!) but otherwise a great spot for a mid-week dinner out.

Lovely little restaurant in the main square. Food was very nice and definitely affordable. We came here at busy time so the service was slow. We did enjoy our meal.

We absolutely love The Spaghetti Incident. We’ve visited a couple of times now and the pasta always tastes delicious. We were greeted at the door by the owner today ( who was running the place solo!) and he took our order promptly and continued to make our dishes. We were very well looked after and left very full and satisfied. If you’re ever in Stokes Croft looking for something tasty, give it a try. It’s wonderful. To the owner: you’re doing great.

Tasty tasty pasta and arrancini! Would go again. Pizza wasnt the best, good base and nice tomatoes but felt the cheese wasn't upto the mark.

My mum was visiting and I booked on a whim, and what a lovely little spot. Great service and you can always trust the food is going to be great with an open kitchen. Only suggestion would be for slightly dimmer lighting but that's just me being picky. Great menu, great place, 5 stars.

The Spaghetti Incident totally took me by surprise. Having rushed passed it may times this was my first visit and it won't be the last. Friendly and informed staff just a tad slow in getting my first drink but made up for it later with chats about the food and recipes. The food was most excellent, pasta beautify cooked and the seafood and accompanying sauce divine. The restaurant itself is is cosy and welcoming. Well worth a visit.

Best Italian in town !!! The marbled ravioli with pistachio and parmesan were absolutely delicious, and the carbonara was proper Italian (no cream to ruin it). Don't skip dessert, the pistachio tiramisu is a must. 10/10 ❤️

We booked a table for my husbands birthday, and were very much looking forward to our meal. I must say however we left feeling a little disappointed. We had 3 courses including the carbonara main, whilst the main was tasty and reminded us of our travel to Italy/ Rome, the starter and dessert were a little underwhelming. The service is where we felt a bit put-out however. Upon arrival we were told we only had 90 minutes for our meal as there was a booking straight after, which in principal is fine - however we were reminded of this 2 further times during our meal which made us feel rushed and a bit of an inconvenience. We also booked with a note to say we were celebrating a birthday - I thought we might have at least had an acknowledgement of this during the meal, but sadly not. Would I come back again? It's a 'maybe' from us...

Can't understand why this place doesn't get consistent fantastic reviews as the food was fabulous! Went with a group of friends, I ordered the spinach and almond pasta with crispy kale and it is the best pasta dish I've ever had!!

Disappointed as we had heard many great reviews of this place. Sadly we found the mains were not to our taste. I had the carbonara and found it incredibly salty which prevented me from finishing it (and finishing my food is never a problem!) so I would give it a 2/5. The rigatoni al ragu was better and the tiramisu actually really good. We were left waiting to order for quite a while and in the end had to ask one of the cooks to take our order for us. The atmosphere was okay but the music was turned up too loud and we had to raise our voices to talk to each other. Music varied from modern hip hop and rap to retro pop music and was not on theme with the restaurant or consistent throughout the night. I would like to try this place again but am honestly reluctant given our experience, a shame.
