Clean, delicious flavours for a fraction of a price. We loved it! Both seafood and mushroom pasta tasted great. Pasta was al dente, fresh, and not too heavy. We added loads of shredded parm to both. I regretted not getting a pizza because they looked absolutely divine but well..there’s always a next time! It was extremely busy on a saturday afternoon so i’d recommend booking a table in advance. Staff were helpful and quick. We paid approx 18£ each.

Came here on a whim on a Saturday night, and I am completely glad I did. The food was amazing, the service was equally as amazing. The manager/owner was so sweet, gave us some Biscoff cookies with our tiramisu. Good quality food with amazing prices. Would recommend to anyone!

Prior to going to a show in the Bristol Hippodrome I took my partner for a meal in to the Ciao Amici Italian Restaurant, which is very conveniently positioned for the Hippodrome. The experience was wonderful. It also happened to be my partners birthday and the whole restaurant sang her happy birthday when the dessert came out, which I suspect was orchestrated by the head of the staff that evening a chap called Bagi. All the staff who looked after us during the meal were very attentive and professional...Fernanda, Magdalana & Pamela. We fully recommend this restaurant because of its attention to detail, customer service, atmosphere and terrific food. It is also very reasonably priced despite its location to the theatre where it has a pretty regular captive audience I would think. When we are next in Bristol we will most certainly be eating in Ciao Amici again.

A fantastic Italian restaurant (sooo much better than the chain Italians nearby!). The restaurant was busy on a Friday night but we managed to get a table without booking. The food is excellent, you can tell that they used quality ingredients. The staff are very welcoming and friendly and the service was very quick!

Great location, not too crowded. Very good food. We had spaghetti bolognese and pizza. Lots of vegetarian options. Great staff. We sat next to the speakers, so a little loud music - but that was our own choice.

I have been here so many times. Friendly great staff. Amazing proper pizzas at sensible prices. Always busy in the early evening due to being next up the Hippodrome. But they always get you through in time to get to the show. The other thing I can always rely upon is that the red wine is at the right temperature, and a great price. Seek this place out!!

Restaurant was in easy reach of where we were staying, it's next to the Bristol Hippodrome. Though it was very busy, service was spot on no waiting to order. Lovely atmosphere and excellent food, highly recommended.

Really enjoyed the food and the service was great. I had the carbonara and my partner had the pollo pasta dish (this was the winner). Excellent, would eat here again.

Al ser nuestra primera visita a Bristol estábamos buscando un lugar para cenar en la segunda noche de nuestra estancia por el cumpleaños de mi esposa. Fue genial encontrar Ciao, que es un restaurante italiano de gestión familiar y no uno de los numerosos restaurantes de cadena. El personal era muy amable y eficiente y nuestras opciones de comida estaban todas recién preparadas y muy buenas. Disfrutamos de toda la noche y pensamos que era excelente relación calidad-precio. Si volvemos a Bristol, sin duda vamos a hacer un punto de visitar Ciao de nuevo.

Wow!! Went here for lunch today after looking at all the good reviews. Such a lovely welcome and seated quickly. The food was delicious, generous portions and the best profiteroles I’ve ever had!! Will definitely be back next time we’re in Bristol

Oh my goodness, absolutely delicious. Very busy at times but the service and atmosphere are always great. Always return, highly recommend.

Impeccable service constantly topped us up with bowls of parmesan as well as water and complimentary mints at the end of the meal. The food was extraordinary I don't have Italian much, but would recommend coming again whenever I'm at Bristol next.

Having booked a table we had to wait in the corridor next to the toilets for a table to become free for 15 minutes. No apology from anyone. Food wasn't great when it came, pretty mundane quality really. Very noisy in the front room but not too bad in the back. Prices are reasonable. Edit: Is normal? No apology? Sorry for arriving on time.

Went to Ciao Amici to have a meal with family and celebrate our son's birthday. They were very busy, which is often a good sign. Staff were friendly and helpful, and they made our group feel looked after. There were plenty of options on the menu, though most of us chose pizza. The food was all very nice, including the desserts. Staff made it a memorable experience for our son, especially with a candle in his dessert and a chorus of Happy Birthday. All-in-all, we had a very enjoyable evening and would certainly go back again if in the area.

Even though this place was absolutely rammed, the hard working staff managed to squeeze us in before our gig. Service was efficient and friendly even with it being so busy. Food was very good as was the wine! Perfect place to stop if you are going to a show

Over cooked pasta, seafood was clearly from frozen and not cooked well, the sauce was bland and tasteless. The wine was cheap. Worst Italian I have ever had

I can’t tell you how good this authentic italien restaurant is. Don’t walk there - run. Service second to none (even laughed at my husbands jokes) food fabulous, fresh and tasty. I thought I made the best lasagne and spaghetti bolognaise but proved wrong this evening. Will return as soon as we can as the pizza looks unbelievable too. Always try to go to Ciao in Denmark Street before we go to a show at either The Hippodrome or The Colston Hall. Usually packed out but very friendly and efficient staff. Food excellent, great atmosphere and good service.

I came here pre-theatre to eat a meal with a bigger party than normal. Ciao Amici staff were very accommodating and approachable. Needless to say the food BLEW me away. The penne ciao was a perfect blend. Ciao Amici, I will be coming back !

The food was decent for some of our table and nice for others, not quite 5 stars but definitely not lower than 4, the service and friendliness of staff and management are amazing, if you like some Italian and a very cozy vibe then I definitely recommend

Xmas meal for a lot of us.they where absolutely brillant

I came with friends. Ordered a vegetarian pizza and took a bite and there was chicken in it. Sent it back and waited 40 mins for a pizza that was burnt at the bottom and raw on top. Waiter asked if everything was ok with my meal when I explained my pizza was burnt he said that this is stone baked and that’s what pizza is suppose to be like. Weird how my friends pizza’s were fine and mine tasted like burnt bricks. Can’t believe they served me chicken and then a burnt pizza. And to top it all off they tried to charge me for the pizza I sent away?

Had an amazing time here with such great food! The owner gave us student discount and lots of chocolates, he was so lovely and welcoming :)

Had a delicious meal here after a trip to the theatre with our granddaughters. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The girls were made a fuss of by the gentleman who was looking after our table. They loved it. Would definitely visit again.

We booked for Friday the 29th Nov 2024 10 of us 5 ex apprentices & our wives & partners. Just like to thank you to all at Ciao Amici for a great evening. Food was amazing as was the atmosphere in the Restaurant. The venue was packed but our food (2 Courses) all came out together was very hot and tasty plus the waiting time between meals was good. We have no worries when recommending Ciao Amici to others Thanks Again

Fantastic, in a word. One of the best Italian restaurants I’ve been to. From starter to main to dessert to the complimentary aperitif, and the service, everything was fantastic. Highly recommend their tiramisu and Arabiatta.

Food was superb and excellent value for money. The service was exceptional. Made to feel welcome as soon as we walked in the front door. Enjoyed it so much, we booked there and then for the following week.

They provided a delicious dairy free meal for me at the last minute! I was part of a big group and when I asked which dishes were safe for me to eat they went above and beyond to help me. I ended up with penne Arrabbiata with rich tomato sauce and loads of chilli and olives- it was so good. The staff were really friendly and helpful, they really couldn’t do more for our group. I’ll definitely be back! Thank you so much!

We came out of Theatre right opposite Ciao Amici and thought we would give it a try, we were not disappointed. The Salmon Tagliatelle was I think the best I have ever had and so was the Spaghetti Bolognese, the wine too was good. The Service was Excellent and attentive We will definitely return and would recommend

This is a great authentically Italian restaurant with excellent food and excellent service. As it’s beside the hippodrome the turnover is quick and it is fast paced inside but we didn’t feel rushed. We’ll be going again

Popped in with a friend last night to grab some dinner and was warmly greeted. Drinks ordered and delivered very swiftly. I ordered seafood calzone which came out fresh, piping hot and was delicious. the prawns were massive and moist. the tomatoes were fresh. my friend had a tropicale which looked lovely he devoured it pretty quickly and was full of compliments. All in all the experience was brilliant, the place was clean, the staff were friendly, attentive and well presented. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone looking for some scrummy Italian food in central Bristol

Went here for an early dinner after a matinee performance at the hippodrome. Party of 8 including one person in a wheelchair (level access into the restaurant and very user friendly disabled toilet). The staff were so friendly and accommodating. Service was quick but without feeling rushed and food was delicious and portions were hefty. Starters, mains, dessert and drinks came in at £200 for 8 people, amazing value!

Great find! Lovely staff, best pizza I’ve had in ages, great atmosphere and delicious salad. Thank you also for being very understanding to our late arrival and making sure we received our meal quickly as we had tickets for the theatre. Definitely will visit again.

Great place for a family meal out. Such friendly staff, good menu, great service and very reasonable price. Loved the atmosphere. Areas for slight improvement were pasta slightly over cooked and pizzas a bit cheesey.

Went to Ciao Amici for pre Illegal Eagles/Hippodrome evening meal (13/08/24). Booked for 4 at 5.30pm. We had table 6, just inside the door with the windows fully open, onto the pavement. Place was packed & had a great atmosphere. 2 chicken/oregano/tomato sauce & 2 chicken/mushroom sauce ordered & given the amount of clientele, came quicker than expected. The staff were welcoming, pleasant & attentive, nothing was too much trouble. We'll definately be back. Thank you all so much, 10 out of 10.

Good food, great service and well priced

I cannot fault this restaurant and have been coming here for over 10 years. The staff are very friendly and always seem to find a table if they can when they are busy. Food is exceptional and the location is perfect right next to the hippodrome along the side street. I advise pre-booking on show nights as the restaurant can become very busy quite quickly.

Well! What a find. Popped in en route to a show. Hadn’t booked. Spontaneous step in the door at 18:15. Already very busy. But how lovely to be greeted by a warm friendly smile. None of that …. Hmm ‘ have you booked?’ Grimace etc!! There were a few spare tables. Thankfully😊 The food was Truly Delicious Italian at its best. Service was excellent. A real gem. Thank you. We will return for a more relaxed 2/3 course experience. (And noticed a great selection of proper Italian wines yum yum 👍) No I didn’t have time to take loads of photos…it was just too interesting to waste time on that.

The Amatriciana pasta was a regular tomato sauce pasta with bits of mushroom, onion and bacon. The flavour was not even close to real amatriciana.

Fantastic place. Great food at a very reasonable price and the service couldn't have been better. We went in late (after a show at the Hippodrome) and they still served us. They were very kind and helpful, if we ever get back to Bristol we'll be back.

Lovely find tucked away behind the theater. Did not disappoint, food was lovely, service top notch. Would recommend 100% even take away boxes for the bit left. Will visit again.

Absolutely blown away by the service and food. The place to go if you are craving for an authentic Italian food. There is nothing pretentious about the restaurant, the food tasted amazing, the service was quick and the waitress was really good. The calamari is definitely a must have, the seasoning on the batter was point on too which was a pleasant surprise considering how a lot of restaurants offering calamari aren't that great. A solid 9/10 on service, food and the ambience.

Affordable and amazing. This is without a doubt the best Italian I have visited. The waiting staff were attentive, the food was fresh and the portions generous. I can’t wait till i visit again!!

Absolutely amazing restaurant! We have ordered a Margherita with some additional toppings and a Ciao pizza - both were delicious. We also got a Pollo con Funghi - we just couldn't resist after seeing another table get it, but three dishes for 2 people was a little bit too much 😂 All three dishes were very filling on their own, pizzas were quite large, so me and my husband were not able to finish all three. But the employee (possibly owner?) unprompted, quickly brought us a box to pack the leftovers up, which we really appreciated. Therefore: Food 10/10 Atmosphere 10/10 Service 10/10 We will definitely be coming back to try lasagna and some other dishes, because truly - we were amazed by what everyone around us was getting, everything looked so good ❤️

I came here with my wife and my toddler. The place is family-run and very friendly. Though don’t let yourself imagine it is full of screaming kids, it is simply very welcoming and accommodating. The food was lovely, but the service was so exceptionally friendly that we returned the next night as well. I struggle to recommend this place more strongly if you want good food in a friendly atmosphere.
