They provided a delicious dairy free meal for me at the last minute! I was part of a big group and when I asked which dishes were safe for me to eat they went above and beyond to help me. I ended up with penne Arrabbiata with rich tomato sauce and loads of chilli and olives- it was so good. The staff were really friendly and helpful, they really couldn’t do more for our group. I’ll definitely be back! Thank you so much!

Lovely Italian restaurant with very reasonable prices for good quality food. Decor is traditional and staff are courteous and friendly.

We came out of Theatre right opposite Ciao Amici and thought we would give it a try, we were not disappointed. The Salmon Tagliatelle was I think the best I have ever had and so was the Spaghetti Bolognese, the wine too was good. The Service was Excellent and attentive We will definitely return and would recommend

This is a great authentically Italian restaurant with excellent food and excellent service. As it’s beside the hippodrome the turnover is quick and it is fast paced inside but we didn’t feel rushed. We’ll be going again

Popped in with a friend last night to grab some dinner and was warmly greeted. Drinks ordered and delivered very swiftly. I ordered seafood calzone which came out fresh, piping hot and was delicious. the prawns were massive and moist. the tomatoes were fresh. my friend had a tropicale which looked lovely he devoured it pretty quickly and was full of compliments. All in all the experience was brilliant, the place was clean, the staff were friendly, attentive and well presented. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone looking for some scrummy Italian food in central Bristol

Went here for an early dinner after a matinee performance at the hippodrome. Party of 8 including one person in a wheelchair (level access into the restaurant and very user friendly disabled toilet). The staff were so friendly and accommodating. Service was quick but without feeling rushed and food was delicious and portions were hefty. Starters, mains, dessert and drinks came in at £200 for 8 people, amazing value!

I have probably spelt it wrong so apologies but wanted to give a particular shout our for Banchy who was so accommodating and gave the most super friendly service I've experienced in a long while - I will certainly be back and the food was perfect too. Thank you!

Great find! Lovely staff, best pizza I’ve had in ages, great atmosphere and delicious salad. Thank you also for being very understanding to our late arrival and making sure we received our meal quickly as we had tickets for the theatre. Definitely will visit again.

Great place for a family meal out. Such friendly staff, good menu, great service and very reasonable price. Loved the atmosphere. Areas for slight improvement were pasta slightly over cooked and pizzas a bit cheesey.

Went to Ciao Amici for pre Illegal Eagles/Hippodrome evening meal (13/08/24). Booked for 4 at 5.30pm. We had table 6, just inside the door with the windows fully open, onto the pavement. Place was packed & had a great atmosphere. 2 chicken/oregano/tomato sauce & 2 chicken/mushroom sauce ordered & given the amount of clientele, came quicker than expected. The staff were welcoming, pleasant & attentive, nothing was too much trouble. We'll definately be back. Thank you all so much, 10 out of 10.

I cannot fault this restaurant and have been coming here for over 10 years. The staff are very friendly and always seem to find a table if they can when they are busy. Food is exceptional and the location is perfect right next to the hippodrome along the side street. I advise pre-booking on show nights as the restaurant can become very busy quite quickly.

Well! What a find. Popped in en route to a show. Hadn’t booked. Spontaneous step in the door at 18:15. Already very busy. But how lovely to be greeted by a warm friendly smile. None of that …. Hmm ‘ have you booked?’ Grimace etc!! There were a few spare tables. Thankfully😊 The food was Truly Delicious Italian at its best. Service was excellent. A real gem. Thank you. We will return for a more relaxed 2/3 course experience. (And noticed a great selection of proper Italian wines yum yum 👍) No I didn’t have time to take loads of photos…it was just too interesting to waste time on that.

The Amatriciana pasta was a regular tomato sauce pasta with bits of mushroom, onion and bacon. The flavour was not even close to real amatriciana.

Fantastic place. Great food at a very reasonable price and the service couldn't have been better. We went in late (after a show at the Hippodrome) and they still served us. They were very kind and helpful, if we ever get back to Bristol we'll be back.

Lovely find tucked away behind the theater. Did not disappoint, food was lovely, service top notch. Would recommend 100% even take away boxes for the bit left. Will visit again.

Absolutely blown away by the service and food. The place to go if you are craving for an authentic Italian food. There is nothing pretentious about the restaurant, the food tasted amazing, the service was quick and the waitress was really good. The calamari is definitely a must have, the seasoning on the batter was point on too which was a pleasant surprise considering how a lot of restaurants offering calamari aren't that great. A solid 9/10 on service, food and the ambience.

Affordable and amazing. This is without a doubt the best Italian I have visited. The waiting staff were attentive, the food was fresh and the portions generous. I can’t wait till i visit again!!

Absolutely amazing restaurant! We have ordered a Margherita with some additional toppings and a Ciao pizza - both were delicious. We also got a Pollo con Funghi - we just couldn't resist after seeing another table get it, but three dishes for 2 people was a little bit too much 😂 All three dishes were very filling on their own, pizzas were quite large, so me and my husband were not able to finish all three. But the employee (possibly owner?) unprompted, quickly brought us a box to pack the leftovers up, which we really appreciated. Therefore: Food 10/10 Atmosphere 10/10 Service 10/10 We will definitely be coming back to try lasagna and some other dishes, because truly - we were amazed by what everyone around us was getting, everything looked so good ❤️

I came here with my wife and my toddler. The place is family-run and very friendly. Though don’t let yourself imagine it is full of screaming kids, it is simply very welcoming and accommodating. The food was lovely, but the service was so exceptionally friendly that we returned the next night as well. I struggle to recommend this place more strongly if you want good food in a friendly atmosphere.

Clearly a popular pre-show restaurant, we were lucky to get an unbooked table. The tables filled rapidly just after we arrived. We all had pasta which was lovely. The food was served quite quickly with care by friendly staff. We were not rushed at all. We would eat there again.

A genuine vibrant Italian restaurant, where the food was delicious at a reasonable price and the service exemplary. We had last visited on a trip to Bristol nine years ago and were relieved and delighted to see that it was still there.

Went to Bristol Beacon for a concert and often pass this little gem by. Luckily, we got a table in the window (shutters open)... within 15 mins, it was full ! It's probably best to book if Hippodrome and Beacon both have events. The food was excellent and staff very attentive. Will definitely go back.

A fantastic experience! We arrived with only around 40 minutes before the show we were going to nearby. I asked the kind of time it might take to get food and was told they’d prioritise us and could get pizzas to us in less than ten minutes. From ordering to food on the table was just 8 minutes 👏🏼😊 What’s more, the pizzas were delicious and the service super friendly. Well 100% be back 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

We tried the food here for the first time today. The food was delicious, with their pizza (Ciao), Calamari, Pollo Alla Pizzaiola, and Tiramisu standing out. However, their olives were not the best. Nonetheless, it is highly recommended and a must-try in Bristol!

I had lunch at Ciao Amici on Saturday 20 April and it was absolutely delicious. The portion was generous the food well cooked and incredibly flavoursome. . The menu offers a very wide choice of starters, mains and desserts. I accompanied my meal with a glass of Pinot Grigio Blush which was beautifully chilled and again delicious. The staff were friendly, professional and kind we were mate feel very relaxed and comfortable. This was not my first visit and I hope it will be just one of many more

The atmosphere was good just Very loud in the restaurant so had to shout for my partner to hear me! Otherwise the food and service were excellent

The food was excellent. Best fudge cake and ice cream I think I’ve ever had. Staff were really friendly and the service was rapid for a table of 9. Lots of said that it’s one for best places we’ve been to for the money it cost.

I turned up early for my 6.30 booking expecting to be the sad solo sitting in the corner - how wrong I was! Busy, bustling and buzzing! We had fabulous pizzas served piping hot, very quick and attentive service, but not rushed. Highly recommend this unassuming looking place. Will be back!

Great little Italian just around the corner from the Hippodrome. Be sure to book though as very popular & rightly so as the food & service are both excellent.

Had a wonderful experience yesterday at Ciao Amici. The food was delicious and the staff extremely friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend this place for pre or post show dining as it's right next to the Bristol Hippodrome.

Came here on solo business trip Jan 23 and couldn't wait to return with my wife on leisure/theatre break Outstanding ambience in busy authentic Italian setting. Staff brilliant and food some if the best Italian I've had Well worth the wait and didn't disappoint my wife

Food very bland, as if no salt is used at all in any recipe. The only "spicy" pizza on the menu was not spicy at all, and the mushroom pasta was nearly flavourless with so much cream that it led to an upset stomach. The starter was good, but also quite bland. Service overall ok, it only felt a bit intrusive when three waitresses came to our table one after the other within 1 minute asking if we were ready to order soon after we sat down. Not inspired to come back.

We had a table in a corner to reduce the noise around me due to my deafness (as a deaf person with hearing aids, I am challenged by background noise). Initally all was good as we had the perfect table although the restautarnt was absolutely full . But in time we were asked to move as a large group wanted to take the whole space across the back of the room. We did move but were put into the middle of the room. I couldnt hear my friends who I hadnt seen for twenty years. When we challenged we were told we only had the table for 90 mins and had had it since 5.40pm. A friend had arrved early was taken to the table . Our booking was at 6pm. We arrived just after. We were NOT told we had a limited time when the bookimg was made. To compensate the misundersanding the restaurant took 20% off the bill which was not expected but we all appreciated. We, however ask that it is made clear we have limited time when booking and that access needs are respected and understood. We didnt stay for dessert and went elsewhere where we could talk. Thank you but we won't be coming back unless you reseach simple ways to reduce noise for deaf people.

Very tasty pollo alla pizzaiola, delicious (they accomodate my dietary requirements, GF & DF), good portion. Totally recommended. Big dinning area.

Little problem with the booking, as I phoned and booked there seemed to be some confusion, happily after about 15minutes it was sorted and we had our table for 6. From then on it was a really nice experience, staff food and service was great. I'd go again, but I'd definitely internet book it.

My first time here! What a lovely welcome and a delicious plate of pasta! I was very early but was greeted with a big smile and shown to a table upstairs. I ordered the penne arrabiata which was delicious with fresh chillies and a personal pot of Parmesan for sprinkling! Delicious, all for a very reasonable price. I will be back, loved it.

Lovely food, very polite and helpful staff. Pipping hot food. Great for before of after theater dining. They also do takeaway service that gives you a good discount on the food. Edit: 2 years later, and and it's still one of my favourite places to eat, I'm fact, in most dissapointed when i can't get in here if they are fullt booked. Nothing is ever too much from this place. So glad we found this restaurant a few years back.

Visited Ciao before seeing a show at Beacon Hall. Fantastic welcoming atmosphere and staff. The restaurant was very busy but the service was quick and very friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and we were made to feel part of the family! Food was served quick, hot and fresh! I can honestly say the pizza was the best I've ever had! We even returned after the show for wine and nibbles! Definitely planning another visit and we live 100 miles away!!! Highly recommend but don't forget to book!
