Un mojito 9,00 ed imbevibile!!! Senza gli ingredienti base. Al momento delle nostre rimostranze nemmeno un accenno di scuse o giustificazioni. Scandaloso. Sconsigliatissimo.

Unfortunately had a bad experience in this cafe. Went for some brunch before I started work. Waited 20 minutes for a coffee and then 45 minutes for a sausage and egg sandwich and eggs and hashbrowns. Had to get mine to takeaway as I was going to be late for work so left my partner eating at the table alone, not the lunch we expected. I did ask the waitress a few times to kindly let me know how long it will be realistically and she kept telling me it's coming now. After I ate the breakfast I had nothing else to eat and unfortunately the bad experience didn't end once I left the cafe... I have chosen to not disclose this on the review but will be emailing the venue privately. All in all was very disappointed with the service and the food. Which is a shame as the cafe is local and lovely interior. If they can work on the customer service and the food it has the potential to be lovely.

The coffee is really great and the dishes are pretty good value. Nice golden eggs and proper sourdough. The decor is sweet and feels like you are in California or somewhere. We sat by the open window, which is auite nice, though the road has some traffic.

As someone who is a big fan of Cornwall I really liked the Cornish Beach/surf decor of this cafe. I had a lovely breakfast which I think was called the Hash stack. It was a tasty mix of poached eggs, hash browns, avocado and sweet chili sauce. It was beautifully presented and highly enjoyable. Thank you to Emma and Ailis, the lovely and welcoming staff x

Have been visiting Smugglers for the last 5 years, and always loved their 'home-cooked' meals. Unfortunately we visited Smugglers last week for brunch and it was incredibly disappointing. Not only was the food itself poor, but the service was no better. We ordered simple food - eggs on toast and a smoked salmon bagel. Neither dishes were fresh, and both looked like they'd been poorly prepared - we could have done better at home. We asked the staff if there was a temp chef, or if something had changed and he said no. When we said we were unhappy, he didn't care in the slightest - nor did he apologise or offer a refund / discount. So we left and headed across the road for a second attempt at our lunch.

I was really excited to visit smugglers cafe today-I have recently moved to Putney and am trying to get through all the wonderful options! As a coeliac I will always check if a place says it offers gluten free options before going-which on your website and Instagram you say you do. When ordering as a coeliac and specifying a gluten free option am used to being asked ‘are you coeliac’, which is what happened today. Feeling reassured (because I am aware this makes a kitchen more aware of avoiding cross contamination) when I replied yes I was not expected to then be asked in what felt like a very condescending way ‘well I assume you have an epi-pen with you then’ As I hope you are now aware CD is an autoimmune disease. Not an allergy. My body literally attacks itself if I eat gluten. An adrenaline epi-pen will do nothing. And while I won’t die there and then I do become extremely unwell and it can cause many other diseases. If someone came in asking for no nuts due to allergy, would they be quizzed on whether they have their epipen? If they said no, would you take less care around peanuts? Or if a vegan specified for a dairy free option would their lifestyle choice be questioned? Following this reaction I received no apology and could then overhear the server describe me as uptight to the chef in the kitchen. Because of coeliac disease I find eating out can be stressful and experiences like this do not help. The actual food I ate was nice and I really enjoyed the beach theme, however your barista/server made me feel really uncomfortable and I would hope in future this will not happen again.

I wouldn't usually bother writing a bad review as I generally don't do that but this was so out of line I feel compelled to do so. I ordered 2 eggs, toast, hash browns, and beans and it came to almost £14 with no drink.... I can get the same on upper Richmond road for around £7 and it is consistently awesome but we go to Smugglers because they have Vegan options. The hash browns were literally still frozen in the middle, the eggs and toast were room temperature and the beans were warm-ish. The thing that inspired me was upon asking for a refund I was met with a bit of attitude from the cook. Unbelievable! If you are selling a half English for that price it better be near flawless, not frozen and lukewarm. I have been to Smugglers many times and it has always been a bit manic, either delicious with great service or the opposite, but this time I'm afraid is the final straw.

This place is tiny, but definitely worth a visit if in the area. I enjoyed my visit so much I took my husband with the following day and he really enjoyed it too. The first time I went I had the smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel which kept me going for hours. The coffee was nice and strong and the fresh orange juice very good quality. The next morning I returned with hubby and I had the veggie breakfast which was huge! Again it was delicious and kept me going all day until dinner. The cafe itself has a lovely cozy feel, and a cornish surfing vibe which was really sweet. They are dog friendly which was nice to see, I enjoyed very much the different breeds I saw there during my first visit, all of which were very well behaved. If I was local I'd be here every weekend for brunch, instead I'll have to wait until my next visit to Putney, which I hope won't be too far away

Stood at counter for ten mins waiting to be acknowledged and greeted with sourness. Waited 40 mins for a croissant to be warmed up as they weren’t ready for customers at 9.40 AM ! No apology and I end up several times saying please and thank you and sorry myself for feeling that I am causing a huge inconvenience. I had to count up all the cut eyes I got from this lady serving to 7. I am embarrassed I asked a friend to meet me there when there is a much more friendly, clean and presentable cafe with attentive and happy staff across the road . I have visited this cafe happily many times and had lots of nice visits with really lovely staff and great service but this time my regular staff wasn’t there and this staff member had a problem with us and made my visit unbearable. She was unfriendly, uncooperative and plain unhelpful and rude. Her not wanting school Mum’s there...well It worked. I won’t take the risk to go back and spend all that money I felt was wasted.

I have used this cafe for many years and since the proprietor Ali left it seems to have lost it’s way as on a number of occasions they are advertising dishes on their menu which they no longer prepare or have the ingredients for, therefor they need to update the menu to reflect what is currently available. I have also noticed that the sauce bottles they use have broken lids and could potentially be unhygienic.. A tweak here and there would benefit.

Here just for drinks while we waited to check in to Premier Inn just round the corner. Service was okay and coffee okay. Seems to be a café /coffee shop to bring your gadgets and look at your screen. Depends upon your point of view whether that is good, bad or indifferent.

We've been here before, maybe a year ago and the experience was good, however on this occasion it was poor. We selected what we wanted from the website menu however when we arrived it was apparent that the website menu was out of date; some of our selections were not on the table menu. Two of our party selected Sausages and mash but there were no sausages so had to select something else. Three of us ordered fish & chips but bizarrely there was no vinegar available. It's the first establishment I've ever been to where you couldn't get vinegar with fish and chips. One of our party ordered a burger which was supposed to have two patties but was more like one and a half. He went to complain about it but nobody came back to us. When paying at the bar I mentioned the burger issue and the guy I was talking to went off to check with the server and he knocked this meal off the bill. I also pointed out that they had missed £60 worth of wine off the bill. He added it on to the bill but I didn't get any thanks for this. Wish I hadn't bothered now. I feel that the main issue however was the demeanour of the staff. Instead of "I'm awfully sorry we've ran out of vinegar" and maybe an explanation of why, it was "we haven't got any vinegar". It wasn't " I'm really sorry, we've had a run on the sausages and there aren't any left" or something like that, it was "we haven't got any sausages", It wasn't "we're really sorry the burger meal wasn't up to our usual standard" or something like that, it was "I've knocked it off the bill". It wasn't "oh, that's really good of you to let us know we'd missed the wine off the bill" or something like that. It was, well nothing really, it just got added to the bill. It was if having customers there was an inconvenience to the staff. There was minimal eye contact, no smiles and avoiding contact with customers as much as possible appeared evident. Wish we had gone somewhere else. We certainly won't be going again. I'm writing this in response to an email from the Nine Elms Tavern saying that my option matters. It will be interesting to see what, if any, response I get to this.

Have been visiting bi-annually for last 3 or 4 years. October 2024 visit very disappointing. Menu has been shortened and made very generic. Decor is tired. Staff are still pleasant but the buzzy ambience and perception of leading the trends are gone.
