Full English breakfast that was simply delicious. Everything was so beautiful cooked and prepared. Free range egg and a beautiful meat packed sausage were divine. Lovely attentive staff and reasonably priced. A must if you’re in the area

Well, I like food and I like good food, and to say that these guys tick all boxes. I have eaten here a few times and it is great food, Full English Breakfast is tasty and filling, if you are after a salad, I can recommend the Hot Salmon or Chicken & Bacon salad..... however, if you are in a rush, grab a bap and a piece of cake... yes, I have probably put on a few pounds just writing this, but the food is great. Then to top it off, the staff are amazing and just can't do enough to look after you. Definitely add this to your "to visit" list...

I have eaten smoked food now from many parts of the world, This was a bit of a let down. When we came in the dinning area looked very nice a little cold but a lovely smoky smell to every thing. No smell of hickory or any other spice just fire place smoke. We looked at the products for sale and decided to have the breakfast. We had two coffees and two full English. For £10:95 I was a little shocked , Tinned mushrooms 1, egg cooked in olive oil (dripping in oil) tomato's lacking any spices, blaned watery beans, Over cooked bacon Not smoked, Dried out black pudding, and a pork sausage that someone had tried to smoke but had soured the meat when doing it. Our latte coffee's came lukewarm and cost way to much at £3.75 each and a tin of coke at £2.50 each. The service girls were very friendly and nice yet seamed a little lost. The lack of any smoke house sauces also does not help. Just a very cheap brown sauce and ketchup with way to much vinegar in them. As I said I love good smoke house foods but sorry out of all the smoke house I have been to this would be about a 3 out of 10, the dinning room and staff bring it up to maybe about a 4 at best a 5 out of 10, Very sad as I was really looking forward to it .

I had a voucher to gifted to me, Great shop and brilliant value. Stayed and had food and drinks. Friendly service, we'll be back.

A light lunch - my wife said the broccoli and Stilton soup was the best she has tasted! I had the egg mayo bap and it was spot on. Service was friendly and efficient and we enjoyed our lunch. Quite small inside so worth booking a table, plus outside seating too. The location is outstanding with distant views from the car park over the surrounding farmland. Worth making a journey to try this smashing place.

Oh dear! This used to be little gem - both for food and service. How the mighty…….! The restaurant was cold (and not because windows and doors were open as a covid precaution). The menu is much changed and significantly restricted. Smoked eel is no longer available. We were told (quite incorrectly - just look at the internet) that ‘we’re not allowed to make it any more, it’s a protected species’. Smoked eel was one of the principal reasons for establishing the smokery in the first place. When our rolls arrived all those which should have been hot (bacon rolls) were cold. The white baps were awful. Only the smoked salmon was recognisable from ‘better days’. So disappointing!

Nice place, nice atmosphere. Little expensive, £3 for a hot chocolate, was nice though. Didn’t eat there because there were flies in the food counter (may just be on my stay).

Pleasantly surprised finding this cafe, which allowed us to purchase everything for a picnic. Bread, ham, cheese, salmon, & ham. All very good quality.

A wonderful meal! Lovely setting, very friendly service and the best Queen of puddings I’ve ever eaten.

Called in on a Monday lunchtime and they were very busy. You would not just happen on the smokery and restaurant these were regular customers. Lunch was simple smoked fish or chicken (other meals available) with veg or salad and new garlic potatoes. Both my colleague and I we very pleased with the food - just the right amount for lunch and under £10. Alcoholic drinks available, a short wine list all £14.50 bargain. The retail shop is stuffed full of every king of smoked food - they are famous for smoked eel which you can buy whole or small pieces. I shall return.

Very high quality smoked food of all sorts - especially local eels from the Somerset Levels - make this place a must. The modest and delightful restaurant (thirty or so covers) is staffed by lovely people who produce amazing fresh food from homemade soup of the day to smoked eel on rye bread and much else mouth-watering. A modest wine list or local cider are very welcome. Smell the coffee! After lunch, shop for your favourite smoked food!

This is such a lovely place to eat. Freshly prepared food from the smokery, salads, roast vegetables, potatoes, garlic potatoes, warm bread, tempting desserts and cakes. Food is simple and so tasty!

I went here for lunch and to see what they had to offer in the shop and it was well worth the visit. Set in Somerset farmland, Brown & Forrest is in a converted farmyard complex, now a small business park.In the little shop area i bought smoked cheeses and pork, along with some condiments. For lunch I had smoked chicken with roasted veg (carrots, red onion, peppers, parsnip) and potatoes. Delicious, filling and great value. Excellent service and extremely clean and spacious loos. Highly recommended, plus we need to support our local independent artisan businesses. Great hamper ideas for Christmas!

We were staying near here so thought we’d try it. I had the full English my wife had smoked salmon with scrambled eggs. Both were excellent. As we had the dog with us and the weather was good the lady was very helpful and put a table outside for us. We will definitely go again 👍

Always enjoy our visit here ,and visit regulary. Unfortunetly today visit did not come up to the usual standard. The full English ,although tasty lacked the blackpudding of which we were not advised.The Full Vegeterian had no vegeterain sausage, only an extra egg had been suppsituted for the bacon and sausage, so not a Full Veggy. There apperaed to be a lack of staff compared to the week before. We will return as the food is great , it was just lacking its usual standards today.

We have been customers for quite some years. Today we thought we would drop,in for coffee and cake and get something for our dinner later (smoked salmon quiche or scotch eggs) but neither were available only a bacon and onion quiche which I can’t eat....

Had a need to meet a colleague for breakfast near to Langport. He suggested B&F as he had been before and enjoyed it. Needless to say breakfast and the lovely ladies (and gent) did us proud. I spent a lot more than I was expecting...

A lovely lunch spot. Great variety of smoked meat and fish. Portions are a decent size and the food was extremely tasty. If you find yourself nearby, drop in! There is also a shop on site with plenty of smoked meats, fish and other treats.

The service at the smokery restaurant was very friendly and super efficient to match the exceedingly tasty food. The eels on rye was a great starter. The smoked duck served with an imaginative selection of roast veg and boiled garlic potatoes was to die for....

Came here from Bristol with friends as a surprise lunch treat. Enjoyed a lovely 3 course meal with produce from the onsite smokery. If you are in the area it’s certainly worth a visit.

It's only just a couple of miles away but had never been to eat. We took from friends on a flying visit thro after visiting the Smokery itself for their open day. It's a limited menu but very good, totally centred around their own smoked...

I came up The Smokery by chance and I'm so pleased I did. Super super with a smile everything appears home made and most delicious. Lovely foodie gifts to buy as well. If you are nearby do give it a try you won't be disappointed

Dropped for a quick lunch whilst en route to Barrington Court. Had not booked but quickly found a table. Just had soup which was very nice, but this establishment needs to sort out a proper menu rather than rely on chalk boards that do not...

Lovely meal. Lovely atmosphere. Great to have unusual eating experience: the lost art of smoking. However not fussy, just good meals. Couldn't believe the food was sufficiently lovely that my wife tried and has subsequently ordered the eel! Returned twice.

Lovely small dinning spot. We dropped in for breakfast and it was fabulous. Great produce well cooked, really friendly staff and a great shop to take some tasty morsels home.

Me encanta el Smokery, éstos se pegan a lo que hacen mejor que la comida está ahumado. La Anguila es mi favorito, pero también tienen muchas otras opciones. El énfasis en productos locales frescos servidos generalmente con patatas hervidas o ajo y una llanura maravillosa ensalada fresca con su propio vestidor. Algunos amigos me dieron un vale para disparar en el rango cercano junto con almuerzo en el Smokery. El disparo fue genial, la comida no fue así. Comimos cordero ahumado y era muy pobre, salado y duro, pero no tiene sabor. Las verduras estaban completamente aburrido y no había absolutamente nada de lo que recomiendo. Yo había comido allí hace algunos años y estuvo bien, pero no es mucho mejor y ahora es simplemente peor.

Asistí como parte de un grupo grande para un almuerzo de negocios. La comida era increíble y el personal muy atento. No había oído hablar de este lugar hasta mi jefe anunció la comida, así que volveré con la familia. Gracias por una comida maravillosa. ¡Muy recomendable!

Llamamos para almorzar y quedamos muy decepcionados con la comida y el servicio. Nos paramos ahí dispuesto a pedir y eran ignorados por alguien en el mostrador como ella estaba hablando de otro miembro del personal. Finalmente volvió a hablar con nosotros, pero sin excusa. Preguntamos por el menú y ella era muy seguro. Finalmente pedimos una anguila ahumada andouille ahumado y un plato de salchichas. La salchicha estaba seco y la comida de anguila era muy pequeña. Nuestra cuenta fue de casi 20 libras, que era muy caro, teniendo en cuenta que estaba dos comidas y dos cafés.

Este lugar está escondido en un lugar pintoresco, así que sin dudarlo y lo pierdes. Fuimos a almorzar, que era simple, pero deliciosa. Si no te gusta el pescado, por lo que puede no ser para ti, pero la trucha ahumada andouille era precioso y se sirve con una ensalada simple y patatas. Y luego, he probado el mejor pegajosa pudding toffees jamás.El restaurante es más de un café, en la tienda de smokery, así que genial para un bocado. Mi única queja es que el menú no lista Caribe pepperpot", pero cuando pregunté cuál era, en realidad no tiene nada que ver con la pepperpot tradicional, así que mi emoción fue de corta duración. Reservado para el almuerzo con expectativas ya que soy de la zona. No me decepcionó todo fumado! Brécol y Stilton sopa de empezar delicioso, recomiendo encarecidamente el salmón ahumado con mucha principal tampoco con patatas o pan de Granary, los postres eran buenos pero el queso ahumado era abundante y muy sabrosa. Visitamos el sábado a mediodía, no habíamos reservado una mesa y tomó la oportunidad que en su reputación local es muy bueno.Afortunadamente, debido a que el baño y West Show que nos las arreglamos para hacerlo. Nuestro plato de pollo ahumado con nuevas patatas y una excelente ensalada mixta -entre la variedad kiwi y Apple - era delicioso, aunque no abundante. No tenemos apetitos grandes, pero podría haber comido más. Quizás esto es hecho a propósito, así puedes pedir un flan?Los postres eran excelentes - mi mousse de limón fue el mejor que he probado en mi vida y me envió felicitaciones al chef. El pudding de pan con mantequilla con sirope también era un ganador. Completa con café, fue una muy buena comida, pero bastante caro en £33,00 . No teníamos otras bebidas.El servicio era muy atento, nada era un problema. La única crítica sería el azúcar bolos. Sería mucho mejor que cubos marrón y blanco de azúcar con tenazas en vez de un tazón de azúcar blanco con una cucharilla.Ambiente encantador, el personal es muy amable - volveremos.

This is a Restaurant that specialises in smoked meat, fish and eel. The menu written on the boards, only changes in minor ways and the main course is always a choice of smoked meat, fish, eel with salad, boiled new potatoes or bread. The restaurant attracts the elder community. On this particular occasion the soup was disappointing and bland, I could taste no Stilton in the Stilton and Brocoli soup (to be fair they did not charge for the soup) and the bread and butter pudding with golden syrup had dried crispy bread on top with no sign of butter and a lake of syrup underneath that had not infused the bread (definitely not what it was). The main course with smoked chicken and new potatoes with garlic butter was excellent as usual. The restaurant has received regional awards in the past, the past being the operative word. We have eaten here on numerous occasions, over some years and the service has become rather hit and miss recently. Will I go again, probably.
