The Skewer Turkish Restaurant in Islington

I sometime hesitate to give a favourable review because it might become difficult to get a table after it is published. This is a smallish restaurant serving very good food with a smile.

This has to be one of the most delicious Doner Kebabs I have ever tasted. The Large Kebab was exactly what it says it is there was no skipping out on the size it was exactly what it says LARGE. Nice clean place with plenty of seating and a nice friendly family run service You have to try this food for yourself was totally amazing on my taste buds so much in fact I went straight back the next day for another Doner kebab.

Never eat from here again. Food was less wrong and tasteless oily and not fresh wasted my money on rubbish disappointed.

The chicken Shish and lamb shish were both overcooked and dry and the lamb ribs were undercooked and we ended up having to putting them in the oven

Our platter was absolutely delicious, such good value for money.

The rice taste like has been washed with water. No flavour on rice or meat. Very plain salad. I was expecting more. Very disappointed with the quality of food.

I’ve been calling over an hour for my food and it’s still not here, the number is temporarily out off service.

Tiny pieces of shish hardly any meat at all. Ment to be large more like x small. Chips soggy and tiny portion as well.

Really delicious food generous portion sizes they have a website too which offers 10% off almost all the time but on a Tuesday I order on JustEat because then I get 20% off I normally order chicken donner and rice and also 4 Lahmachun’s which is a Turkish pizza made fresh with seasoned mince lamb and the dough is also fresh and soft too honestly in my top 3 places to get donner kabab it’s value for money and when I make an order then call them they are polite not rude like other places when you call them I’m very specific in how I want my food made and delivered or I just won’t eat it so I give credit to PETRA because they are a diamond in the rough impeccable service always eager to help and please these guys do business good and the delivery driver is wicked he don’t mess around within 20 minutes of making my order he was in my reception food was hot and perfect can’t praise them enough good job lads keep it up I will be ordering from you guys in a couple of days thank you so much

Can’t believe how downhill Petra has gone. The meat looks, smelled and tasted DISGUSTING! I used to buy here often but Never again! Bought massive platter and it just about fed 2 small adults and a baby. Ridiculous! Food quality is so bad and the smell is awful :-( delivery man knocked my door & said nothing. 3 times I said hello & got no response. I only answered because I’m not here alone. So sad as I like the staff and brought lots of custom here. But won’t be eating here ever again

The platter was good - relatively warm and although delayed it did arrive in the newly proposed time which was 20 minutes later than first estimate. Delivery person pleasant and all ordered items included.

The doner was very nice and delivery time was excellent.

All the food arrived cold and the chips were not cooked properly so we couldn’t eat them.

I asked for cutlery but did not get any. I order my food at 18:45 and got my food 20:20. Food was ok nothing special.

We were expecting to have rice and we've got chips instead! They said: ran out of rice. Please, you should have given us a call instead of delivering chips, and we would have cancelled our order. The food was very very dry and no taste at all. We had visitors and had to order more food from other place.

The food quality was very poor Very poorly packed and delivered The Tzatziki tasted horrendous so I had to trash it and the meat was burnt (good part of it)

Food arrived freezing cold...I called the restaurant to ask the time as was already late said was being prepared and would be sent in next 5 mins as they were waiting for driver to arrive back said sorry for delay but arsenal playing so traffic was in the area... Obviously they had already made the food and just let it get cold...

Food arrived and was stone cold. We've been ordering from this restaurant for several months and never had a problem, always recently Food and a lovely delivery driver. Food arrived with a rather surly driver and was COLD!! I called the restaurant to advise and was told, "when you put the salad and sauce on, it makes it colder" We always have salad and sauce. It's never been this cold! No apology? Advised I won't be using them again. Plenty more who'll deliver. Shame, cos, I usually enjoy yhe food.

Didn’t receive bottle drink, all food was cold, chicken wasn’t cooked properly, no rice with the chicken wings was given chips without option, the tissue was stuck to my wrap so had to eat paper. Completely unhappy will not be returning customer

Loved the chicken doner with rice just wished if they would put more chicken doner and rice as the portion size was not a large as I requested but a medium not worth paying for but it was very tasty flavour was strong and the 3 lahmachun I ordered ended up tasting like the paper it was wrapped in the paper was soaked they need to find a new way to package the delivery method for the lahmachun so it doesn’t taste like old wet news paper not very appetising when you’re hungry if you’re gonna get food from here better to eat in then get a take away real talk

Food was good, but they forgot the sauces.

After reading all the mixed reviews, we took the plunge to try this place out. Wasn’t mind blowing, but not awful either... average for us. However, food was piping hot, packaged with care, and delivery was prompt. We will be ordering again.

They got my.order.completely wrong....hummus instead of tara, cold meat, oily rice, coke instead of diet coke.

Firstly, the food arrived late (had to call the restaurant to ask where the driver was). Secondly, the food was disgusting, the kebab was rock hard and tasted off with a foul stench. I ordered chicken shish with pita bread and the portion was ridiculous and made for a child (four chicken cubes with a piece of cardboard bread is not a meal worth £6.50!), salad was also dry. Considering our terrible experience we won't be ordering from this restaurant again.

Was mixed chicken & beef shish. Hardly any chicken lots of beef but was burnt. Chilli sauce on meat was missing. Restaurant delivered late because they said they had no electricity in restaurant which is worrying for food safety issues. Will never order from here again and very upset. lamb ribs were perfect, the rest of the mixed grill was well overcooked which i could not eat.

The restaurant called me within 5 minutes of ordering informing me they were out of what I originally ordered and I was able to have a substitute and they added a little extra for the inconvenience. Great customer service and the food was delivered earlier than expected which was nice. Food was good and good portions too, would order again! Many thanks!

Usually amazing. This time wrong order delivered. Called restaurant. Didn’t want to redeliver because ‘it’s busy’.

I've been ordering from here for a while. This was by far the worst experience. Garlic sauce all over my order and the driver horns down the street EVERYTIME he arrives. If you want food covered in sauce and the driver to wake your neighbours then this is the place to order from.

The food was delivered at 20:30. Half an hour late but it was showing delivered on time. This is not first time it was happened few times before with just eat. Either late or cancelled after 45/60 minutes later. I don’t think I will ever use just eat again.

The meal was absolutely banging!! Best mixed grill we've possible ever had.. ever!!! Definitely will be buying again and highly, highly recommend!

No updates at all on the app but food arrived (within estimated time) whilst I was on the phone to restaurant, boxes were very squashed but the food was still warm and actually very good, I would recommend.

£37.50 order!! shocking!!! dry food!! not a good portion!!. i have ordered here many times and never got anything for free and my orders always has been over £35!. you should know how to cut a kebab the slices as thick as a peace of wood!!. i’ll never ever order from here again!!!!.

Not up to their usual excellent standard. Kebab cold, chips limp and barely cooked, aubergine side dish far too sweet. Have ordered from them many times over the years and this is the first time I've ever been disappointed. Hoping it's just a one off...

lahmacun is the best i’ve had in london so far. the lamb shish was also good but the lamb cubes are too large.

I’ve ordered many times. Food is really good but unfortunately they forgot my drink. I’ve contacted Just Eat and they requested a photo?? When I said that didn’t make any sense they said they would call me about it within 72 hours. Too much of a hassle for a £1 drink. Please make sure you are delivering the correct items because Just Eat support is ridiculous.

What a fantastic service and a high class food! This is what I expect from a Turkish restaurant and lovely Turkish people. They are always excellent in what they do.

I asked to cook meat extra crispy come all grey and cold chips was soggy and cold and covered in oil nasty taste left in my mouth it’s in the bin waste of money. Why have a section to talk to restaurant if they don’t read them

This was the worst iskander kebab I have ever had in my life. Iskander kebab is supposed to have a thick tomato sauce over fried bread with garlic and topped with kebab and yogurt. This was practically a tomato soup at the bottom as it was so watery an spread was not fried bread just had been put in the soup covered with donor kebab that was cheap and old meat. Will never order again.

Petra is one of my favourite places to eat from, I always order from them. Today is the first time I was not happy with the order. My food was cold which meant I didn't finish my food. After having a stressful day at work I was looking forward to my order. I appreciate Petra substituting my baklava for something else but it would have been nice if they had called me to let me know the baklava had sold out so that I could have ordered something else. Not saying I would not order again as they are still my fav but today I was really disappointed :(

From order to delivery it took 1hr 50mins shocking. Called restaurant three times to find out where my order was. Luckily Just Eat Customer service gave me a refund
